Kirito looked it over one last time before closing his menu. No way that would fly in the real world. But then again, Sword Art Online was unmonitored by all outside peers. Anyone could be whatever they wanted to be in here, and have to repercussions in their real life. That was an easy answer to this large "Maverick" problem, but an all-out death match in a cage was still quite an atrocity.

How was this even a thing? He clicked the ad and it expanded, showing the full page. He read through the words it said on the front. Two players are pitted against each other in the cage of insanity. Winners are showered with prizes, losers lose their life in the match. Brutal. Either way, this didn't seem like Kirito's kind of crowd.

He looked at it for a bit. A small bar beneath all the menus. It was an advertisement. Most players use ads to promote guilds, or ask for escort through a dungeon they don't think they can handle. But this one was different. "Underground Fight Night?" He read aloud, seeing an image of two player fighting in the middle of a cage, thorns all over the inside.

Kirito went over numbers in his mind as rapidly as he could think, planning the most effective way to get stronger. "I can live without lunch and sweep a floor for exp and col, and I can send the occasional PM to Asuna and Klein..." He said, doing small math motions with his hand in the air. By complete accident, he brought down his menu. He was about to close it, when something caught his eye.

Kirito side-stepped as fast as he could to avoid the tendril, it whipped past his face and snapped at the air, originally hoping to have lashed the swordsman. Kirito staggered back slightly from his sudden movement and then regained his foot hold, eyeing the Nepent for another attack. Kirito: 9/9 <> 5/5
-
Kirito ran over to it while running the tip of his sword across the ground. All he had to do was swipe up some dirt, blind the creature, and then land a solid hit to start off the battle. But as he ran, he felt a vibration move up his sword arm. Something was... Beneath the ground? In the blink of an eye, a vine launched from below and raced towards Kirito. Kirito: 9/9 <> 5/5

He walked a little further and then came to an opening in the woods. It was much darker, and the light must have transitioned while Kirito was thinking to himself. He walked slowly, taking time to take in the field around him. He drew his sword from the sheath at his back and slowly turned 360 degrees, looking all around for any signs of the <>. And as he had hoped, he saw one twenty feet away.

Kirito did question why the game was meant to kill as he walked. Was Kayaba insane? Perhaps he was looking for some form of god-like status. That would make sense, seeing as to what he said during the announcement. "My goal has already been accomplished. To control this world and intervene in it." Saying it aloud, Kirito was able to assume that was Kayaba's goal of SAO. To achieve a god-like state.

He walked casually, no monsters were ever at the entrance. So he could just enjoy a forest walk for the moment's time. He looked above him, seeing the sun leak through spots in between the brush above him, as the wind sent a gentle breeze across the forest, making the trees blow and bob in the wind slowly. "It's really a shame this whole game is meant to kill me..."

Kirito clicked <> on the quest he had been offered. If his memory served him right, the <> was a strict improvement over his current sword. Taking this quest before any other was a smart move, since it's reward was a long-term investment for the future. "No to go find the Nepent." He said, looking into the woods.

Kirito kept walking as the thoughts loomed in his head. It was fine. All he had to do was remain solo. Then he would be safe. He kept on his way and the Town of Beginnings became smaller and smaller behind him as he put more space in between. "All I have to do is just train. Train as much as I can."
-
Kirito then got a scary thought. 'What if a Maverick comes after me..?' It was a possible. Very possible. Beta testers were not very welcome in the eyes of Aincrad. Of course, Kirito would go around claiming he was the best to draw attention from all other Beta Testers. If this is what Kirito had to do break the cycle of distrust, then he would do it.

As Kirito walked, he pondered what the world of swords had come too. Nothing more than a large scale match of survival. And with these new threats who called them selves... Mavericks..? Just a guess, but that's what he thought they called themselves. And they had some form of leadership named Vile. Kirito would have taken to going after him, but that wasn't his goal. He would clear the floors, and he was sure that another player was already after the threat.

Kirito shifted the weight of the sword on his back and he looked at the boars walking by. Yes, they were good for starters, but he didn't exactly like to think of himself as a starter. He did remember a few good spots for fight farther out in the fields that had larger boars. Tougher, but more Experience.
-
Kirito then took a glance at the drop he had gotten. 1... Truffle? Well, he couldn't go ahead and eat it the way it was. He could probably ask Asuna to cook it into something, but she was probably bust at the moment anyway. The most Kirito could do now was get into another fight with another <>.
-
Kirito blinked and shuffled slightly. "Well... Not exactly." Kirito had a scarce amount of friends. He had about as much trouble making friends as he did in real life, which is to say, quite a bit of trouble. He was actually surprised Klein had decided to approach him. "Anyway... What brings you down here?"
-
[Lmfao...ballsdeep] He looked at the kid and spoke."Klein. Nice to meet you, Kirito. What are you doing all the way out here? Kinda desolate." He blinked realizing how far they were. He looked around and then gazed back at him."You waiting for someone ?"He had given his quirky smile trade mark and placed a hand behind his head. He had been known to speak a lot.

Kirito squinted to see another player not too far off. Near the pig he had hit not a moment before. He couldn't read the player's name from this distance... BallsDeep69..? No... That couldn't be it... Kirito stood up and brushed some grass off himself, before starting to walk over. "Um... Hi. I'm Kirito." He said awkwardly, not really good at starting conversations.
-
He was standing not too far away from the pig that was being targeted by another player. He was on his way to the starter city to stock up on items. Eyes happened to land upon the person antagonize the pig and he smirked. Guaranteed to piss a pig off with pebbles, he thought. He gave a slight wave to the guy hoping to catch his attention. Perhaps they could talk or something.
-
Kirito sheathed his sword and sighed, wiping his gloved hands together. "And that takes care of that..." He said, cracking his back and straightening himself out. 5 Col was almost nothing... But he had to start out small. He moped on the memory of the riches he made back in the beta, but that was a different time. And back then, he could die all he wanted.
-
Kirito sat a top a hill out at the fields. He sighed and picked up a pebble, chucking it at a pig.The pig was too far away to actually go after Kirito, but nonetheless it squealed and snorted, glaring at the player. Kirito laid back and looked up at the sky. Being alone almost all the time wasn't all that glamorous. For starters, it was boring. In fact, Kirito had given up hope on believing anyone would approach him on this floor.

Kirito dashed over to the boar and gave it a kick in the snout. It staggered back and snorted, trying to get the smell of shoe off it's nose. Kirito then swiped his sword across the ground and at the pig, flinging dirt into it's eyes. It reeled back and tried blinking to get it's bearings, right before Kirito ran up all awesome like and delivered and swift slash across it's face, making it bloat and lose color before bursting into crystals, never to be seen again... Before respawning a few feet away and going back to eating truffles. Kirito: 5/5 Boar: 0/2 ((5 Col, 1 <>))
-
Kirito thought for a bit and looked at his total Col. Nothing. "Um... We should probably go fight a mob or two in order to get some drinks... And on top of that, it may be best to try and make our own food. Probably the cheaper way to do this." He didn't like using the word 'Cheap' around a girl, but what else could he do? Buy food with money he didn't have? "Kirito, by the way. My name is Kirito." He said, looking through a map for where they could kill monsters.

Of course she had to embarrass herself in front of her hero! It would be impossible to actually impress him at this point. As they finally got to the strawberry water-- place, she smiled at him "If you want I know of a deli nearby, we could go get some sandwiches, or I could attempt myself to make some with my <> skill!" She offered with a sweet smile. At this point in time she was glad she was spending time with such a strong person like Kirito. Though she hadn't known his name yet, she was sure she'd remember the hero. "But before anything I want to know my hero's name..." She giggled

The boar charged forward, bent on ending Kirito for his later hit. Kirito stepped to the side and just managed to avoid it's razor sharp tusks. The boar squealed with anger and stomped with a fit of rage as Kirito smirked at it in a mocking manner. "Weak as slimes is an understatement. These pigs are much worse." Kirito: 5/5 Boar: 1/2
