Jomei the emerald duelist The sand of the hourglass slowly fell, and with it their blades would rise once more against one of Aincrad's floor bosses. As always, the uncertainty of what horrors lurked in the shadows that Freyd had mentioned left the frontliners with an anxious pit in their guts. No one ever said it, but they definitely all thought it - it could be their last fight. That was why they needed to prepare, together as a united front, and on their own. And that was exactly what Jomei was doing, seeking out quests he had yet to

"Always a pleasure, my friend." he would say in response to Koga, the warmth of his smile matching the salty, always-summer air. "Beautiful setting for a wedding there, sad to have missed it.. Actually, now that I think about it, don't think I've ever been to a wedding here." He pondered on the past years - or however long it had really been - trying to remember any semblance of a wedding. He had crashed one.. an open door celebration of two players he had never even met before. So he didn't really count that time. "Something to look forward to then, yeah?" his smile returning once more.

Jomei the emerald duelist A raid meeting didn't seem like the most ideal destination for a honeymoon. Even for an after party it seemed a tad bit foreboding. It would be the last thing he would even want to think about following such a joyous occasion. Interesting times called for interesting measures, though. And in lieu of the disillusive wine and spirits consumed during the reception, the adrenaline rush from the impending doom of a boss fight was the next best high you could get. Jomei had not been invited to partake in the fe

"You've got that right!" Jomei shouted after Koga as he laid on the finishing touches of his attack. His boots would hit the ground, dust and dirt scattering at the force of his drop. With a few, quick retreating steps back, he would return to his comrades' sides.. a safer place to stand than on his own against a creature as large as this. Though, with the rate they were going, they would be finished with this boss before any of them even took any damage. Hitting tough monsters with friends.. he missed this. "I've got to meet me someone who can cook a good meal. Been spending too much co

"Hah!" Jomei barked a small laugh. The image of him as a therapist alone was enough to tickle him. Though.. the more he thought about it, he did find himself ending up these situations.. lending an ear to all of those friends who need someone to talk it out with. Maybe it was a living he could make, but probably not one that he could do all the time. "I'll send you my bill" he would say with a wink, "Hey, I've got to make some money somehow. Not like I'm making a fortune off of writing songs." Lifting his can once more, he would swirl the contents within before raising it to his lips for a swi

Jomei replied to Siren's topic in Beginner Floors
Jomei the emerald duelist "Christ.." the ginger mumbled to himself under his breath, as the back of his gloved hand wiped away the sweat accumulating at his forehead, "This floor is hotter than I remembered.." A river of bubbling lava cut its way through the vast, dead plains of the ninth floor not even a mile off from where he walked. Each step he took towards the destination ahead brought with it the small fear that the soles of his boots would melt right off. Jomei had left his signature green cloak safely within his inventory, hopin -
The ginger knew that this undertaking for the next floor boss would not be simple, and would require him to actually do some research and shopping after what felt like so long. He felt as thought he had only just got his hands on the unique weapons and armor that were crucial to his build.. and how he would be swapping them out for something more helpful. But that would not be enough, he would need to actually grab some consumables as well. Stumbling upon the kitchen out in the wild, he saw the player preparing multiple food items under a canopy of green leaves. "Interesting place to set

The ground rumbled as The Ancient stepped forth, rising to its full, towering height as the four players drew its aggression. "Woah, big boy" Jomei spoke, whistling in awe at the monstrous size of the field boss. Everyone seemed fairly confident in their ability to fell the boss, including Mina who had apparently taken on this beast before. Jomei would have remembered if he fought something this large before, but then again.. there was still so much of Aincrad he hadn't seen - so many quests and monsters that he simply ignored. Now was as good a time as any to experience those dangers fi

The ginger's lips parted as Lessa's words sunk in. He opened his mouth to respond, to say something - anything. To agree with her, or console the pit of homesickness she felt. But the sudden realization that his own memories of his real life became clouded, if not already jumbled with bits and pieces of his time in Aincrad. Liam, a name that felt vaguely foreign in his mouth, seemed like such a distant past with this new persona, Jomei ,taking center stage. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he would slowly shake his head back and forth. These were not thoughts he wanted to have right now. Lessa

Jomei the emerald duelist The message was clear, the raid team was putting together a united force to make sure they were well prepared for whatever awaited them behind the boss room doors. The labyrinth boss had been defeated, leaving them with just a short amount of time before they would be put to the test once again with the hopes of just one step closer to freedom. The slow pace of things once made that hope seem like nothing more than a dream, however this seemed like a push in the right. Picking up the pace and showing they were serious

The sound of the fire crackling paired with the silence of the night, basking the two players in a soft orange glow. Comfortable, almost completely washing away the frustration they felt just moments before when the Guardian chased them from its home. Usually, Jomei would find himself home or at an inn for the night once the darkness came. It wasn't necessarily safe to be wandering outside of the safe zones when you can't see much more than ten feet in front of you. But there was something about setting up camp, and just resting in all the beauty that Aincrad had to offer outside of its settle

"Well then that makes two of us" Jomei would remark with a lighthearted smile. "I was going to suggest the same thing." A short, dismissive gesture with his fingers, and the opaque message box that hovered before his form vanished in an instant. "Wouldn't make much sense to walk all the way back to town just to turn around again. That, and the sooner we can attempt the quest again, the better." He turned his gaze back towards the grove, "We should be far enough out that we won't have to worry about the Guardian or anything in there, and hopefully close enough to a quest objective that we won't

Jomei the emerald duelist It was frustrating, having complete control of your body - your limbs, your muscles - but not being able to control where you were going. It was terrifying. His weapon out of reach, and most likely useless in his struggle, Jomei fought to procure some sort of a foot hold so to keep himself from being dragged even further away from his objective and Lessa. Every large stone he found slipped from his grasp, grass and stems of flowers yanked from the earth. The vision of the retreating forest, and the blonde haire

[PP-F27] See It Through (Pt2: Srona) [w/Lessa]
Jomei replied to Jomei's topic in Intermediate Floors
Lessa was mad. Very. Mad. He had never seen this side of her before. Smiling, always. Sad, more often as of late. Even frustrated, sure. But the pure rage that radiated from her core, burning like the fire that put them here in the first place, ironically made his body run cold. While he also found the idea of her being actually angry the tiniest bit entertaining, the fear of this dormant side of her spawned a cold sweat at the back of his neck. A bit more attractive than he'd want to admit as well... A quick clearing of his throat, and Jomei returned his scan of the grove - bo -

Lessa's gestures and voice, much more suited for calming the otherworldly beast. Each step in its direction was cautious and calculated, the tone of each word that passed her lips was gentle. When the guardian of the grove made its presence scarce once more, the two players shared a sigh of relief. "Nice job. Handled that a lot better than I did." the ginger would say with a smile, though he kept his voice hushed to not disturb the serenity of the grove any more than they already had. Though if they would be able to continue their quest to gather the flowers was another issue. He could still f -

Jomei wasn't alone in feeling the presence of something - most likely the guardian - watching their every moves. From that point on, he was ever so cautious with his movements. Watching every step as to not even disturb a stone or fallen branch, and only touching bushes where he believed a Ushiame Flower was blooming. He had even slowed his breathing, trying to mask the sound which seemed even louder with the silence of the grove, but the anxiety of impending danger from an unknown creature made that difficult. Just trying to exhale through his nose without making a sound made him feel as thou -

"Looks like you were right" Jomei chimed as he pointed towards the white petals of a flower, its long stem extending a couple of inches over the tall, grass-like bush it grew out of. "At least now we have a better idea what we are looking for." A finger hovered over the delicate plant and gently tapped on it. The petals reacted in an almost frightened manner, flinching outwards before curling into a more tulip like shape. The flower then vanished with a small flash of light, data and pixels breaking down to easily transfer into his virtual pockets. "You and me both, and that's coming fro -

Jomei replied to Astralin's topic in Intermediate Floors
Jomei the emerald duelist A flash of white and blue energy engulfed the square foot of the stone platform and the air above it. Not a moment later, the swirling field vanished, a tired looking, ginger haired warrior stepping from the flickering pieces of data. The long cape of green dragging behind him above the ground, swaying back and forth with each hobbled step he would take. The cold bite of winter had been fading, leading to the warmer - yet usually rainy - spring months. Luckily, today the floor was not programmed with a mor -

"Hm." Jomei's throat rumbled with a hum as he exhaled deeply through his nose. "Guess not everyone is happy with us players sticking our noses in everything. But.. despite the welcoming party not being very... welcoming.. I'm happy we stuck around to help. I don't think I would've been able to sleep too well if we hadn't saved those people from the fire." The smile that had grown from relishing in their kindness to assist grew sour as the thought of leaving those stranded people to perish crossed his mind. Even if it hadn't come true, thanks to their heroics.. it pained him a bit to think that
