Just a curiosity that isn't worth its own thread. Or the EXP/post-count that goes with doing such things, hint hint.
How would you feel about someone who RPs their weapon's bleed effect as instead being the impaled effect from the actual SAO? In short, the longer you are impaled on a blade the more damage over time you'll be taking if this were actual SAO. So instead of leaving you with a bleeding mark, you are actually stuck on the blade and they are just forcing you to take the extra damage, the "bleed" effect ending with either you pulling the blade out or they do during their next attack. If bleed lasted longer I'd suggest unarmed fighting someone while they are impaled, but it doesn't so that point is kinda null.
Personally I'd respect the heck out of anyone who RPs that well, from both perspectives.
Not exactly related but I fully plan to make crits as not just being one strike but closer to my character actually doing a combo. Like perhaps kicking their enemy down and then slashing them, or clubbing them with the pommel and then the actual blade strike. Just seems a lot more fun than "He swung his sword EXTRA hard that time!"

From a Two Hander's perspective, I can't see lodging my blade into someone's body to cause the bleed effect to occur would be suitable. A mark from the effect would be more suitable in that regards. I don't think anyone wants to run around trying to get a massive blade out of their gut, while I think it would be hilarious. I can see this working for daggers, but wouldn't you lose grip if someone pushes you off? I think you would have to involve more mechanics into the system and I think they are just trying to keep the system simple as possible for everyone to understand. Also, I do combos with my crits. I will sometimes do a glorified heavy smash, but with a two handed sword, I try to keep it realistic with the movements.

Oh, I don't plan to do it myself as a two-hander, so I agree, but I am not so much talking about people running around so much as the guy doing the stabbing not -letting- them run around. Like, they are still holding down on the handle and them backing off would pull the blade out.
I also don't see someone losing their grip, that's the blade pulling free of the body, not pushing the hand off of the blade, yknow? You could RP that and grabbing the blade again I suppose easily.
Not really sure how more mechanics would be involved at all, I am just talking pure RP fluff. The damage is done either way, nothing changes, except the situation in the RP.
