As Violet buried her face in the midnight black fur of the, she heard a blip alert sound. She raised her eyes and looked up at her display. A new achievement popped up in front of her. "Congratulations! Training Your Friend quest has been completed. Dahlia the leopard has now learned the Familiar Mastery: Accuracy skill. You shall now gain +1 ACC when fighting with your companion." Violet jumped up, her body fully healed, and exclaimed with excitement, "We did it Dahlia! Yes!" Dahlia roared happily and nuzzled Violet's leg happily. Violet laughed and pet her black cat companion. Then she

"You're in my territory now, boy," the mysterious man said, pressing the muzzle of his gun against the temple of young Violet. "Watch out!" she heard young Violet yell as the sound of a gunshot echoed in her head. Before she could see the bloody scene that happened next, she woke up in a cold sweat with Dahlia licking the tears from her cheeks. Her black leopard companion must have sensed that something was wrong and woken her up. Violet took a few moments to calm down, slowing her breathing and trying to clear her mind. "It's going to be okay, it's going to be okay..." she mumbled to he

All the while, their boss -- the mysterious man -- laughed and smiled, seemingly pleased at the spectacle. Once Michael had finished with the thugs, he turned his attention back to the man and his captive. The woman managed to cry out, "Run! Please run!" before the man slapped his hand across her mouth and beat her aside the head once more. She didn't make a sound as she faced the abuse. While the mysterious man had his attention faced towards the girl, Michael drew out his own gun from a trench coat pocket. "Let her go," he said coldly as he aimed the weapon at the man. The mysterious m

Michael drew in a breath as the man hit the woman. "Please, stop. Take me. Not her," he began to plead. His voice was strong, but Violet could hear the faint quivers of fear. The mysterious man laughed again as his two thugs stepped forward in sync. "Ah, Michael. You were always a hard one to catch, but now I finally have you caught. You see, this little cat right here just couldn't resist the chase of one of my little mice." He laughed deeply, creepily. The "little cat" he was referring to was the woman her was holding. A younger Violet. Violet felt tears roll down her cheeks as s

In front of her stood the man, his back still facing her. But in front of the man stood two thugs from a rival gang. They were standing in front another man that held a gun to a woman's head. The woman was struggling and cursing, but there was nothing she could do to get out of the man's hold. Without even seeing her face, Violet knew right away who the woman was. It was her. Her eyes grew wide, and she couldn't move. All she could do was watch. The man's voice reached her ears in an echoed and distorted way. "Let her go!" he yelled, his voice and body language tense. "You want me. Not h

Violet's chest slowly rose and fell as her breathing slowed, her mind clearing as she fell slowly into the land of dreams. In front of her stood a man with short white hair. His back was facing towards her, and he was wearing a black trench coat, black pants, and black sneakers. Violet squinted her eyes, trying to get a better look at the man, but the dream made her vision blurry around the edges. She tried to call out to the man, but her vocal chords didn't work. The man began to move forward, so she quickly followed after, keeping a safe distance. As the man turned a corner into

While laying there with the leopard's head resting on her chest, Violet decided to check the quest progress and stats of her familiar. She brought up the quest window on her display. Hm, still at only 2 out of 3 trainings completed successfully, she thought to herself, frowning. It seemed that the last fight hadn't helped her companion's skills increase at all either. She sighed and laid her head back on her folded right arm after she closed all the extra display windows. As she lay there, she closed her eyes and tried to move the muscles in her left arm. She was able to move a few digit

With one last flick of her wrist, Violet threw her blade at the forehead of the snake. It struck right in the middle, the enemy bursting into pixels and her dagger dropping to the floor along with the loot dropped by the beast. The battle finished and her adrenaline dying down, Violet collapsed to the floor, breathing heavily. Dahlia rushed over, licking the woman's wounds and mewling softly. Violet rested on the ground for a few moments, letting her wounds heal. The pain in her left arm still persisted as she lay there while the pain in her leg became a lesser burden. Dahlia lay down next to

Breathing in deeply and trying to calm herself, Violet noticed the snake begin to ready itself for another attack. It appeared to have finally recovered from the shock of the previous attacks it had sustained. It's tongue flicking out from between its exposed fangs, the large beast began to circle around the woman, enclosing her between its body and beginning to close in. As its coils tightened, Violet gathered her strength and waited for the right moment. Right as the coils were about to touch her skin, she leaped into the air and out of the anaconda's grasp. Once she hit the ground, she was

Violet had a twisted grin on her face. Twisted due to the dull ache she felt throughout the left side of her body. The attack on her left leg hadn't broken the bone, so she could still move without too much difficulty as long as she blocked out the pain. While the snake tossed its head, distracted by the piercing pain in its left eye, Violet dodged forward, running along the length of the beast's 10 foot body. She stabbed deeply into the sides of the beast, causing it to convulse and hiss out in pain. As Violet lept away from the thrashing of the angry snake, she barely managed to avoid gettin

Even with one arm limp and unable to move, Violet was still a force to be reckoned with. Even while at a disadvantage, she was not to be taken lightly. In her real life, she had been in similar and worse situations to this and had still managed to escape -- even if some of those get-aways were by a narrow margin. Gritting her teeth, she ignored the pain as she focused on the target in front of her. The snake's slitted green eyes met her own, holding pure anger and animosity in their depths. Once again, the snake jolted forward, aiming for the woman's head. However, at the last second, th

The anger and frustration of the snake only quickened its movements -- making it nearly as fast (if not faster) than Violet. With lightening speed, the giant snake grabbed hold of Violet around her already injured arm and threw her into a the broad trunk of a tree a few feet away. With a loud thud, Violet's back hit the trunk, and she fell to the ground. At the last second, she managed to land and roll, mitigating the damage from the fall as well as allowing her to dodge another attempt at an attack by the large beast. Rolling to her feet, Violet backed away slowly from the giant snake.

Now, Violet had seen some things in her day. But somehow, the image of the snake throwing back up its partially digested meal was enough to make her gag and look away. Her reaction allowed the snake an ample opening to come down and bite down on her left arm as the woman had turned away to hold her mouth and try not to look at the disgusting display in front of her. As the snake's fangs entered and pierced through her left arm, Violet let out a scream of surprise and brought her right hand holding her dagger down onto the snake, stabbing it in the left eye and into its skull four more ti
