  2. As the weight of the battle to come loomed above their heads, Freyd still managed to not only prepare himself, but everyone else as well. Katoka had entered his shop with the expectation of exchanging a witty remark or two, but instead she was met with an empty storefront. Peaking around the various tables and such until she saw the sleeping figure of her friend and guildmate. Catching the eye of Dingo, he held one finger to his lips to shush her. With a soft smile Kat nodded as the man handed her the item Freyd had requested for her. She quietly thanked Dingo and waved to him as she softly ti
  3. It was always strange to be back in the Town of Beginnings. Katoka watched various NPCs and players as they walked about their daily business. The impending boss raid was still on her mind, making it difficult for her to focus on much else other than the battle to come. However here, on floor one, things just felt tranquil and disconnected from everything else. The blonde walked the cobbled streets of the city with her mind at rest for once in the past several hours. Her stroll led her through the various streets and alleyways until she finally came to her destination, Freyd's favorite NPC Mar

  5. Katoka set the last potion bottle into the vial holder in the counter in front of her. She let out an exhausted sigh wiping the sweat from her brow, leaving a smear of something green on her forehead. She had been putting off this order for so long that she felt horrible, but it was finally done. After sending Freyd a quick message to meet her at her shop she leaned back in the chair she was sitting in and looked at all the bottle, glasses, herbs, and other various potion equipment strewn about. If she was going to be a frontliner now she had to pull her weight when it came to making consumabl

  8. "You've just grown beyond it." That gave Katoka a great sense of pride. It just felt like yesterday that she was too afraid to leave the town of beginnings, her fear so grand that it became all of what she was. Now here she was, the captain of the assault division of her guild and able to dispatch a field boss with what felt like very little effort. As she followed Freyd and the others back into town along the road, she thought about the road she had taken so far. Her mind wondered back to the first quest she had taken from the old man in a shop, her first time in the desert with Freyd, w
  9. Katoka watched her party members as they bombarded the flaming bird boss with attack after attack, pulverizing it into a crippled broken heap on the ground. She was a bit disappointed that she hadn't managed to get a hit in before there was a burst of fire from it's body instead of the normal shattering animation that she was used to. The creature was reduced to a pile of ashes instead, "Uhhh, well then." she said as she stared at the pile. "You finish it off...if it recovers after this strike, you should be the final blow." The samurai looked confused but before she could speak ther
  10. It had a been a bot disappointing to Katoka that she didn't get a chance to really fight the elven man. It shouldn't have made her surprised that Nari was strong, all of the players in her hunting party were frontliners. The samurai would just have to be quicker on the draw, even though that was her specialty. Following the group from the teleport gate to floor 9, Kat was surprised by the drastic change in temperature of this floor. It took her a few seconds to adjust herself before she noticed Freyd gesturing at her to use the spyglass he had brought along. Opening her inventory she qui

  12. Exiting from the teleport gate, Katoka took a deep breath as she inhaled the fresh air of Aruyt. She smiled as she looked around taking in he sights, it had been far too long since she had been on the third floor. In fact, the last time she had been there had been with Freyd and Elora, she smiled and stifled a laugh. It had been during the Dragon Hunter quest when they had a dance battle against some elves, "That brings back memories." The rest of the walk to meet up with Freyd she had spent grinning like an idiot thinking about that fight, the locals giving her odd looks as she passed them by
  13. Doing her best to copy the notes that Freyd had put up for everyone to see, Katoka did her best to keep up with everyone's input. They all had good points and relevant ideas that were worth exploring. "Is this what these meetings were always like? Trying to guess mechanics before going in?" She was impressed that they could all brainstorm so well under the circumstances, then again they have been doing this a lot longer than she had. A flash of green hair caught her attention as she saw Elora plop down next to her with snacks and paper. "Elora! I had no idea you were coming, otherwise I w
  14. The small samurai entered the shop with interest, she had wanted to stop by after a friend told her of the place. At first glace the place definitely seemed well worked in, however to any hard working crafter that would pose as a good sign. It meant the person that ran the shop was no slacker by any means. At that Katoka walked up to the front counter and called out, "Hello? Ren right? Freyd sent me, said he knows you. I'm sure you remember him, tall brooding, has a hood up like a hooligan. Anyways he said you were the man to see about some armor and I have a spooking looking shard that would
  15. "Spoke too soon!" the small samurai yelled as the dungeon boss formed behind her like a flesh tornado. Sheathing her sword she dove into a roll out of the way as Freyd rushed in and delivered a devastating blow to the consolidated mass of decay. The hulking beast smashed into the nearby wall with a sickening crunch and splat of coagulated mess. While Katoka watched she was already readying her next attack, her body shifting almost on it's own into the perfect stance. She could feel the electricity gathering in the air, crackling and gathering into a single area. Opening her eyes she

  17. A smile pulled on her lips, this was her specialty after all. Katoka adjusted her stance and her sword gave off a yellow light this time. Dashing forwards she let out a yell, drawing the amalgams attention to her. Her sword striking it at the knee and severing it's leg from it's body. The decaying creature began to fall in her direction, but she wasn't finished. She had held her sword art after the first hit in preparation for it's towering from to fall. In a fluid motion she let the system continue with the attack, a yellow light flashing as she cut her enemy into smaller chunks. Af
  18. Double checking the flyer in her hand, Katoka looked up once again at the building in front of her. She had passed it before in her times on the first floor but never made an attempt to go inside for one reason or another, there were so many shops and various buildings here in the Town of Beginnings after all. Putting the piece of paper away she fussed with her hair slightly, something she did on occasion when she was nervous, before opening the door and entering. Following the voices of conversation the samurai made her way into the room and found a spot in the back where she could attempt to
  19. "Now is coming!" Katoka yelled as she charged her next sword art. Her blade gave off a light blue light as she tensed her legs, the ground cracked beneath her as she kicked off the ground and disappeared once again. Appearing in the air behind the first monstrosity she swung her sword, cutting into it's back and exposing the red wireframe of it's body. Electricity arced from it's body, striking it's companion and singing it's flesh. The samurai's eyes flashed to her second enemy as she landed on the floor. With another flash step she was by the second amalgamation, lading a blow to it's s

  22. Katoka blushed in embarrassment and pouted, "Shut up! I didn't think to hit them all ok?" She leapt back and crouched down into a lower stance, her sword glowing from the sword art she back to charge. She let the system tell her when to move, her weapon buzzing ever so slightly in her hand. A fraction of a second later her body disappeared leaving a fading afterimage of her small frame, then reappeared next to the second Royal Guard as her sword stuck like a bolt of lightning piercing it's chest. She tore the blade upwards to the right, cutting a large gash from it's chest as her sword exited
  23. "Katoka, you have the heart of a lion. You've always been ready." This caught her off guard for a split second. Freyd tended to be genuine when the time was right, and this was definitely one of those times. "A pint-sized lion, at least." "That's it, I'm going taser on you." She grinned as sparks jumped between her fingers. She decided instead to give him a light elbow to the ribs that she knew he was prepared for, she appreciated his first comment and figured she'd save the zapping for a later time. She wasn't surprised at his comment of ridiculous grinding on this floor. She
  24. "When the heck did that happen?" "When had that happened?" she thought to herself. It seemed like not long ago that they had been small and vulnerable, now she could take a decent hit from a big quest boss with little trouble. "I guess times are changing. Maybe with a few more items and skills I could actually take a step out onto the frontlines." she patted Freyd on the shoulder, "Unless you think I'd take some of he spotlight away from you regulars." she grinned at him. This trip was something she needed, it gave her back that bit of confidence she was missing. Was it really that f
  25. It was over in an instant, but in that instant she could see every detail as if it was in slow motion. Katoka wasn't sure what shocked her the most, seeing Freyd absolutely obliterate an enemy with a single hit, or when the sound in the room seemed to return after the fact. It was definitely the sound, she always knew he was strong. Seeing her hooded friend react that way after she was hurt made her feel safe, and Freyd was always good about making those he cared about feel that way. After a moment of blinking dumbfounded at the hole in the wall, Katoka looked around the room at what was
