  1. Retrieving: Prototype v.17 | ID 236234 | T2 Perfect Weapon (Projectile) | Bleed 2 | Para 1 Desc. An intricate hidden crossbow, concealable within the long sleeve or a loose coat or jacket.
  2. Clearing his throat to garner some attention, Jeeves had been standing in the shop overlooked for nearly five minutes. It happened to him everywhere, all the time, and might have infuriated him - it did - if there wasn't occasionally some benefit. This wasn't one of this times. Sprawling out a set of intricate blueprints on the workshop's counter, he proudly and summarily declared: "I need this." The weapon, laid out in meticulous detail, might have been better suited to an artisan or clockmaker, given the intricacy of the work and small scale. It looked like some of hand crossbow, but
  3. Holding up his charcoal rubbings like they were some sort of trophy or badge of honour, Jeeves celebrated his survival with a sort of euphoric laughter that shed the truth of the last few moments: he might have just bought the farm. It was a strange sensation - an adrenaline rush combined with satisfaction from a task accomplished. They'd just gleaned a secret the system itself never expected them to seek, let alone secure. All they needed now was a chance to decrypt it. Jeeves relished the challenge in an intensive emotive display that caught all of his other companions off guard. "C
  4. He'd felt and heard the imminent threat more than seeing it, never even having had a chance to turn his head before cries of warning reached him. Half turned, a woosh of movement exploded right behind him. Something kicked him, or propelled itself from his back with a forceful shove, obtaining enough momentum to intercept the wayward mob barreling towards his position, or so he'd surmised. The world turned sideway, upside-down, the sideways in the other direction, progressing so rapidly through successive changes in perspective that he never had time to piece together how he was tumbling acr
  5. "Duly noted." Despite his cold manner, Jeeves actually appreciated that consideration that few every bothered to grant him. Summoning a three foot long roll of tracing paper from his inventory, along with a thick chunk of charcoal, he unfurled the parchment over one of the few sections of sculptural script not already worn clear by the same time that somehow forgot the chamber's occupant. "Forgotten by whom, I wonder? Why? How? These are far better puzzles to solve than merely beating a batch of health points in a digital sack into some temporarily inert state. Death? Hardly." R
  6. 'Let them take care of the noble rabble,' Jeeves thought to himself. His stats still weren't quite up to snuff for this type of content. Besides, he was far more interested in the iconograhy depicted on the tattered and threadbare tapestries barely clinging to the walls all around the chamber. Calling forth a sketchbook from his inventory, Jeeves began the lengthy, methodical process of sketching them each in turn. He grimaced when a stray clash of blades sounded too close, causing him to break his pencil tip on account of nerve, shooting all of the combatants the kind of glare the most anc
  7. *Cough* Jeeves had actually been present for five minutes, the others having somehow completely neglected to notice him. Even his short stature couldn't possibly explain how often this seemed to happen. Freyd was the only one to reveal any recognition of the pattern through a lingering gaze and mischievous, yet approving, smirk. "What are we doing here again? I hear this place has all manner of useful mineral toxins we could collect to create..." "The Forgotten Time King," Freyd replied, gently curtailing what might have otherwise been a lengthy exposition on local geology.
  8. Unnoticed, even by the last occupant, a young man of slight and slender stature had slipped into the shop and could be found wandering its wares Dressed in a long leather coat and sporting what look like aviator goggles, a vest and toolbelt beneath his overcoat are laden with all manner of fine tools, instruments and devices. Where some find sentiment or beauty in such works, Jeeves was purely concerned with technical precision and craftsmanship. Every piece was scrutinized, right down to surveying its surface for miniscule flaws. A magnifying monacle kept close to his heart emerged more

  10. Jeeves was too busy scheming how he could industrialize gathering and production across the entirety of Aincrad to be concerned about some stray cat that may or may not be in their way. He had people for that. Well, not exactly 'had', but the others were here to take care of the more mundane details. His interests were elsewhere and on a much grander scale. Zeal fostered adrenaline to flow. Ideas soon became a flood that soon had his inner voice laughing maniacally. "This could work," he mumbled to himself, too quietly for the others to hear, barely above a whisper. Freyd's glance
  11. "This place is a gold mine... uh... for herbs and biological samples," Jeeves quickly added. He might have filled his pockets to bursting if inventory space wasn't infinite and he'd been given enough time. The rest of the party kept a brisk pace, as if preferring not to get caught in the wilderness once night fell. Here was thinking he could actually respect, though he'd already made extensive notes on the potential inherent to the small selection of flora and fauna they'd already encountered. "The forest's blessings are vast and bountiful," Sewallus replied in a stilted, pedantic tone
  12. This old fool won't survive if he can't even figure out what can kill him. Not a word spoken aloud, Jeeves simply finished storing the samples he'd collected, electing not to participate in their conversation. Freyd could play at PR while he did more important things than coddling a useless old codger. Tuning our from the day's latest dissertation on basic game mechanics, he surveyed his gear again, checking that nothing had been jarred, broken, or worse: mis-calibrated. Jeeves spent far too much time designing and meticulously fabricating his regalia to have it damaged by inconvenient
  13. Grumbling to himself as he scraped samples of some particularly toxic fungus from the underside of their improvised barricade, Jeeves' only concern was the weight of the old man laying on top of him. Fortunately, he was kinda used to getting tussled around by others, especially back on the ship, and had just learned to make the best of it, or at least work around it. And tight spaces had never been a bother. He was always the one being called on by Miri to crawl into some impossible tight access port or maintenance tunnel where none of the other crew could fit. Tunnel rat, indeed. He'd ha
  14. Trudging along in silence, taking up the rear, Jeeves stopped occasionally to collect clippings or other samples of the local wildlife. This place had potential, though wandering the wilderness alone would remain inadvisable until he could better develop his own talents. The prototype potion launcher he was already developing would go a long way towards securing that goal - one among many objectives he was working on in secret. Making sure to maintain line of sight to the rest of the group, the various tools he'd developed for quick record keeping were proving their worth. Adventurin
  15. "Agreed." No one had even noticed Jeeves' presence behind Foyle, the boy's diminutive stature blending in readily with any surroundings. It didn't help much that he said so little, but that had long been his intent. Content to stay in the background, Jeeves' older sister, Miri, inevitably took centre stage. But she'd stayed cooped up with Quaestor since her rescue. Not that anyone would blame her for it. That left him to his own devices and in need of new meat shields. Already drafted into Firm Anima by proxy, the guild's fledgling librarian was occasionally forced into the field
  16. "The idea has merit," Jeeves admitted, clearly weighing his options, sucking on the tail end of his stylus, which Freyd had already flagged as one of his tells. "Fine. I'm in, but I'll need access to as much data as possible in order to be of use. The library in the Citadel of the Lost will need to be expanded." "Too obvious," Freyd interrupted. "But I may have another location in mind that could serve much more practically. One might even say it was tailor made for this." Added mystery only sweetened the pot. Jeeves had already committed, but the promise of access to additiona
  17. "Isn't that some type of shark?" Quip and Foyle stood stunned. Even Freyd was surprised at the young man's awareness of the term, it being deliberately obscure. People tended to think he didn't know things, or was much younger than he seemed, because of his youthful appearance and small stature. He'd come across the species and the term while in a port aboard ship with Miri and Quaestor, at least as they were both known here. "It's a sneakier type, like a stealth shark, as opposed to the more overtly dangerous or violent types, like the tiger shark or great white." His goggles,
  18. Not that he'd been especially eager to engage the rabid monstrosity they'd been dragged here to fight, but even Jeeves was a taken aback by the efficiency of its demise. Eyebrows perched high over his goggles, he simply stared, aghast, as the thing disintegrated into a pile of confetti mere seconds after the battle had begun. "How did...? What hap...? Where did...?" Freyd chuckled at his staccato of false starts. Even Foyle seemed mildly amused, though he remained more sympathetic in bearing. "Is it always like this?!" "No. Not usually," Freyd responded, stretching ou
  19. Jotting down several notes, recording his initial observations, Jeeves snapped his log book shut the moment he saw Foyle jump in. Had he missed the signal? The various codes of conduct and combat signals still largely eluded his grasp. Whereas the older scout simply jumped and tumbled onto the sand, Jeeves' shorter status and lack of athleticism made that unviable. "They could just have provided a ladder," he muttered under his breath. "Pretty sure sharks can't climb." Tethering a rope to a solid outcrop, he lowered himself down slowly but surely, making sure not to jostle any
  20. Subdued and introverted, Jeeves merely nodded, hiding as best he could behind his goggles as he scribbled something down in his travelling notebook. Clearly a bookworm by nature, the smaller fellow was content to let brasher personalities take centre stage while he learned at his own pace. Not considered to be combat material by most of his companions, even the crafter in Firm Anima were surprised at his enrollment in O&I. Freyd seemed to take a different tack, taking the boy under his wing. He knew Jeeves' tale and what might motivate him to want to take a more active role, even if it
