| KINGSLEY | Lv. 9 >> P. 0, Lv. 9 | Status: [ // ] Notes: // data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw== Kingsley peered through oval-shaped reading glasses. He had seen the game twice before, and didn't care much for it. It was a festival, however, and he was festive. He moved his game piece up the board after rolling a decent number. "Aha! I've beat you again!" "Wha

Kingsley replied to Morningstar's topic in Intermediate Floors
"These applicants all kind of suck," Star groaned, flipping through resumes. "What about this one?" Kingsley asked. "It says here he was co-founder of the Azure Brigade. I'm not sure what that means, but it sounds impressive." "Let me see that," Star grabbed the sheet of paper and squinted at the words. "Fake, I think. Pretty sure the real one's dead or retired or something." "Ah, that's a shame." "This one claims to have killed the Hydra years ago," Star chuckled. Kingsley laughed as well. "I'll believe it when I see the Hydra's head! Oh, here's one. It says her name -

Behind the counter at Kingsley Tea Company, Kingsley counted his revenue for the day. It had been a slow weekend, but at his age, the old man preferred that. It meant he could let his staff go home early, and he could spend a little extra time in the back experimenting with blends. He had a new batch of gnome hair come in recently, and he wanted to try mixing it with the dragon acid he'd collected from Yomi. "So, where is Morningstar?" Came the hulking voice of Warden. He was a man of few words, except for when he was around Kingsley and Star. There was something about them he found -

Kingsley was given two pillows to raise him up to eye level. It also made the chair that Morningstar provided a bit more comfortable. Something so hard would never have gone in his tea shop, that's for sure. On an off day, he would have to teach the youngster a thing or two about decoration. Dying plants and poorly kept equipment did not count. "Bounty hunting, rumor chasing, general exploring—that's kind of our deal," Star explained. "Not my deal," Kingsley interrupted. Star sighed. "He's an alchemist. We're forming a partnership, since I've been doing free work for him for mon -

A bit disgusted, Kingsley dug through the heap of scraps and junk, eventually digging out a chest of his own. "It seems as though some old things are not just junk after all, right Kingsley?" Came Foyle. Kingsley clicked open the lock on his chest, opening the lid slowly and dramatically. "They most certainly are not," he grinned, taking a peak at the valuables inside. Coins and weapons had been tucked in the chest, hidden away at the bottom of the water, waiting for somebody to snatch them up. It appeared that he was the lucky fellow who would do such a thing. He had always loved coming

"Yer tellin' me Mayor Dorian's taken to sending players to do his dirty work?" Laughed old Pete Larkin. Kingsley almost scoffed in defense, but realized that it was an apt analysis. They were, essentially, doing the mayor's dirty work, even if it was the basis of the quest. Pete wasn't as burly and gruff as Lyle Tealeaf, but he was definitely a little rough around the edges. He was an old, white-bearded sailor (if his dialect had not given that away), and spent just about all of his time at the docks. The fisherman pointed to his catch for the day: a pile of trash. "Fine, fine, he’ll

Kingsley repeated what advice the others had offered. "Pick your targets wisely," he muttered. His eyes were caught by a pack of three small boarlets that were munching on grass. He whistled, grabbing their attention, and lifted his walking stick. "Now, let's see... How do I do this again?" He asked, purely rhetorically as he attempted to activate a sword art. He tried numerous positions that all resulted in failure, until finally one felt right. A blue glow overtook the walking stick. "Aha!" In an arc, he swung at the approaching boarlets, blowing all of them up simultaneously. The

Gathering up the last of the flowers he could find, Kingsley chimed in. "Yes, I think we shall." --- The alchemist greeted them excitedly upon their return, eager to see what kinds of goodies they had brought for him. He stroked his beard, looking over at all of the natural ingredients, happy to see that they had understood the assignment. "Very good. Very good, indeed," the alchemist said, taking their haul to his supply cupboard. He came back holding a metal tray. Upon it were three salves for the party to take. They were gifts from Zackariah, and each had an utterly vague nam

"Did you ever serve, Kingsley?" The other elder in the group asked. "Briefly, yes. I spent time in Malysia, at the end of the conflict in the late 50s. It wasn't what I wanted—I'm a businessman at heart—but I was lucky. A few short years of service and I was free to go home. Proposed to the woman of my dreams the moment I returned," he smiled warmly, looking down at the flowers he had collected. "I wasn't much of a soldier, but I wouldn't have traded it for the world. It played a part in who I am today." Kingsley directed another hearty grin to Hanzoku and Nymoria. "I look forward to

Kingsley kept close to the group, listening as he searched for materials. He wasn't too surprised that Nymoria's sign language was translated into his head. He had seen stranger things since coming to Aincrad, and would likely see more as time went on. He settled down near a patch of daisies, picking them one by one and throwing them into his inventory for later. While he gathered them, he pondered Nymoria's question. "I'm too old for the frontlines," he chuckled. "I own a tea shop up in Glyndebourne and after this, I'll go back to work." That was assuming Morningstar hadn't burnt i

A few days later, Kingsley called Ciela back to the tea shop. Her crafts were complete, after much trial and error. Morningstar had gone to the trouble of collecting six kilograms of fresh vanilla for him to practice with, and eventually he was able to get it down perfectly. "Morningstar tells me you're getting married," Kingsley grinned. "Take these on the house. Consider it a wedding gift from Kingsley Tea Company." He placed a paper box on the counter. Inside were five vials of vanilla extract. "Come again some time, and perhaps try some of our tea! Have a good day!" For Ciel -

"Hmm. We're not really a grocery store," Kingsley eyed the order form, wondering how he could fulfill her request. It wasn't his usual commission, but he wanted to help regardless. He had no vanilla on hand, but he was certain that if he could get a few kilograms, he could figure out how to extract the vanilla. "I'll put my best man on this," he said with a smile. After she left, Kingsley rang up Morningstar. It was time for them to get to work. The old man would look to his colleagues for a source of vanilla, and then send Morningstar for the pickup. "Ah, fondue. I love the Swiss," Kingsley said, taking the sample from Zackariah. It was warm to the touch, but he wasn't sure how it would help him collect herbs and flowers and the like. Nymoria warned the group of dangerous boars outside of the protection of Tolbana. The old man wasn't worried. He had saved Morningstar from a bear once. A few wild hogs wouldn't scare him off! He left Zackariah's shop first, calling for the group to follow his lead. "C'mon then! Before my heart gives out!" Now, if only he could remember where the town's gates were... North, he thought. Unless it was

Kingsley lathered the last of his anti-acid elixir on Warden's armor. It reeked of sulfur and burnt herbs, and hissed as it made contact with the metal, sealing the surface with a slick, iridescent sheen. Warden didn't ask what this mix was made of because he knew he wouldn't like the answer. "Okay, all done," Kingsley grinned, slapping him on his armored back, and immediately wincing from the pain. Warden pulled from the old man's rock collection and tossed one as far as he could. It flew three times the distance that Kingsley's had. The old man pouted from a distance while Warden t

A smooth rock thunked to the ground, echoing off of the cavern walls. "Yes, that's it," he muttered. "A little bit closer." A rogue skeleton wandered out of the endless caverns, lured in by Kingsley's mischief. He tossed another stone, this time a bit harder. The skeleton was a bit dumb, and followed the noise towards the gates of Yomi. He chuckled, watching it cross the bridge, waiting for it to meet its impending doom. "This way, please," he smirked, tossing a third stone. The skeleton noticed Kingsley, hiding in the town's entrance. It's hate skyrocketed, and it broke o

"Please," Kingsley gestured with his walking stick. "Lead the way." --- The alchemist, Zackariah, was tall and neatly kempt. He was older than Foyle, but younger than Kingsley, and carried a vast array of alchemical knowledge. The system had selected him as a guide for beginners, and a good choice he had proven to be. Kingsley had encountered him once, but only as a customer. He found the alchemist's skills to be impressive. The shop smelled of herbs and flowers, which were prominent ingredients in his potions. Cauldrons bubbled audibly in the back, where he did the majority of

"Now, just stand here and sell tea," Kingsley grinned widely. "Okay..." Morningstar paused, considering how to best portray his confusion. "But like... how?" "What do you mean 'how?' They give you money and you give them tea! What's there to do?" "Well, for starters, how much does each blend even cost? And what happens if I run out?" "You make some more!" Morningstar blinked several times, processing the ridiculousness of the statement. "Make some—dude, I'm not an alchemist!" Kingsley waved his hand dismissively. "Nonsense! I'm sure you'll be fine," he said, waddl
