  1. Nymoria stepped back to allow Acanthus the space the player needed to soar through the remaining snapdragons, watching as the player cut them apart and scattered them to the winds. The shards rained down, as they always did, momentarily before disappearing entirely. She wanted to feel pity, sadness or some other negative emotion at their deaths. Nothing came, however, and Nymoria found herself more disturbed by that fact than she thought should be the case. Her self-consideration was drawn away, however, as Acanthus spoke again. She found herself smiling in spite of the thoughts running
  2. Nymoria nodded in response to Acanthus’s request. She really had nothing planned for the day, and saw no issues with continuing their rhythm, as the player had stated. If anything, she was enjoying the ease with which they were tearing through the small creatures – it was certainly a lot easier than if Nymoria had been working through it on her own. I’ll have to remember that for later on…maybe I’ll invite Acanthus again. She’s good company. Nymoria shifted as the player took off towards another pack, smiling in response to the commentary. Like Nymoria, Acanthus seemed unable to leave the crea

  5. Acanthus had rushed in after Nymoria, her own blade releasing on the creatures as she torn into them and stunned them, all at the same time. Nymoria watched – as much pleased as she was curious – as two of the snapdragons hovered backwards slightly, trails of blood pouring down them as the bleeding effect weakened them even more. She’s come a long way already. That’s clear. She has the skill…maybe it’s a confidence issue? I can relate to that. Nymoria shook her head as she realised that she’d let herself drift off slightly, her steps taking her a bit too far from the combat for her own l
  6. Nymoria raised her left eyebrow in question as Star turned to face her, his expression one of confusion mixed with a hint of concern. She could see his hand quiver slightly, and she found herself even more befuddled. She almost raised a hand to try and ask what was wrong, when she felt the sudden touch of something cold and sharp against her neck. It took only a moment for her to realise the blade was a danger, and she cursed herself once more for being so easy to sneak up on. If only I could have heard them coming…then we wouldn’t be in this mess. She’d frozen in place, not wanting to g

  9. Her blade met nothing but air as the queen moved out of the way, clearing having seen Nymoria’s attack coming, and instead choosing to run rather than engage and risk being taken down. The movement only solidified the nagging feeling that had been hovering at the back of Nymoria’s mind, the behaviour far too individualised for it to be anything but a behaviour. Something out of the norm, for most of the various mobs and creatures she’d faced in Aincrad. It was too personalised, too self-focused, to be the behaviour of a mindless creature. Maybe…maybe I’ve been wrong this entire time. Maybe the
  10. Her strike had been far more devastating than Nymoria could’ve expected, the wasp queen being torn heavily as it froze in place. She could see the formation of the bleeding that would cause the wasp queen’s life to flow from it even more, the health bar cut down significantly as she stepped backwards and put some space between herself and it. She reconsidered her position, bringing her sabre up and levelling it in preparation for her attack. She began timing it, glancing around as she thought about everything she could do in the moment. She realised there wasn’t much point in wasting the energ
  11. The queen wasp was exactly where Nymoria had originally encountered the creature, softly floating on the air as it drifted around without any real purpose, waiting for something – or someone – to come and engage with it. She paused only long enough to catch her breath and draw her sabre, before moving to intercept the thing. Her eyes cast about, confirming both that there were no other nearby wasps, or any nearby players that could interfere and attempt to grab the queen for themselves. She moved as agile as she always did, her feet tapping the ground as she crossed the soft grasses and
  12. Nymoria shifted as the wasp exploded in the air beside her, the sabre having thrust through its form, her momentum carrying her on and past the thing as it disappeared from existence. She shook out her muscles, letting herself calm as she released the tension that had built up throughout the fight. A natural reaction, but one which could cause problems later on if she maintained it. As much as the game was unrealistic – the lack of need for common daily routines, the lack of natural pain, and other aspects – it held a measure of realism in some odder areas. Not to mention, it seems like certai
  13. Three of the four fell beneath her attack as Nymoria pushed forward into their collection. The fourth managed to flit away, saved by the form of its once companion, left alone as it seemed to shift with uncertainty at a distance. Nymoria wondered, if only briefly, whether the thing could feel fear or not – and if she had instilled any measure of it into the creature. She quickly doubted the idea, however, knowing that Cardinal made the various mobs and creatures that they were forced to face emotionless. There was no fear, no hatred, nothing other than an innate purpose of destruction and deat
  14. She’d managed to land her strikes against the wasps, knocking them off balance and pushing them back away from her as they attempted to escape the sudden danger that was her form and sabre. She’d followed them, tearing into them with a mixture of finesse and brutality, her pressure causing more damage as she left a wide bleeding mark on one of the creature before she’d wisely chosen to retreat – a decision that had allowed her to avoid the retaliatory sting of the bleeding wasp that seemed to lilt slightly to the side. The piercing appendage had thrust itself into the position that Nymoria had
  15. I like that idea. Might as well take on as much as we can, before we head back. Right? It would be a waste not to use everything to its full potential here. She nodded towards another nearby group of snapdragons, realising how they had been favouring the creatures once again. It must have been a matter of comfort, but even as Nymoria glanced at a nearby pack of wolves, she realised there was no real point in changing things up. They were familiar with the generic patterns and behaviours of the snapdragons, which made them safer – or, at least as much safer as they could be within Aincrad.
  16. She’d waited long enough for her energy to refill, and her health to return to normal before she’d considered moving away from the spot she had been rooted in. As much as she could feel the pull and draw to leap into motion, her time in Aincrad had taught her the benefit of patience and carefulness. As well as the danger of running into situations unprepared, and the effect that could have on one’s ability and chances of survival. It’s better to let it all return fully, before rushing in and being in a bad, desperate position. Although I’ve got a teleportation crystal…I’d rather not use that,
  17. Nymoria? What are you doing? The sound of the voice shook her from whatever delirium she’d been about to enter. It had been so long since she’d heard her sisters voice, the words calling back to her, reminding her of a moment that she’d nearly forgotten. The only reason she had heard them, at the time, was due to pure coincidence – but a coincidence that had saved her life. Now, she couldn’t help but feel that same pull back to life as the words of her sister reached her once more in her darkest moments. Her heart raced as she realised she’d jolted upright in response to the words in her
  18. She wished she could say she relaxed with the dispersion of the final wasp, that she returned to a state of calm and control that would be fitting of an individual who had just survived a deadly encounter again. Yet something in Nymoria was off, and she could feel it. Some nerve within the back of her mind that seemed determined to leave her unsettled, just slightly and yet more than enough to be noticed. She swayed on the spot, feeling the exhaustion of it all – the fight that had drained her, as well as the emotional and mental turmoil that she still felt draining her, even in this moment.
  19. Nymoria glanced into the grotto as well, trying to decipher why the whole thing felt so…underwhelming. The guards at the forefront of the area had been easily defeated between her own stunning strike, and Star’s follow up attack. She knew that the pair of them were strong, stronger than the pair of knights that had easily fallen, for sure. Yet somehow it felt oddly easy, as if there was something hidden in the shadows that would leap out and change their fortunes in an instant. She gave a quick glance at Morningstar before shrugging slightly, her hand moving in affirmation of the decisio

  21. Three of the four had exploded as Nymoria’s sabre was brought around upon the wasps. The fourth one – the same one that had dodged her original assault and managed to free itself, for the most part, from her follow up attack, had drawn backwards as she’d rushed forwards. She’d managed to catch it with a glancing blow, but it had barely connected with the thing, and although it was pushed backwards by the hit, it had returned with a vengeance that Nymoria hadn’t expected from the creature. She’d barely parried the first attack when the second came, the stinger imbedding itself into her shoulder
  22. The flow of combat seemed to still anything within herself as Nymoria focused only on the movement of her feet, the sabre in her hand and the riposting of the wasps that had flown to meet her. She let go of everything else in the moment, not considering the darker moments that had taken over her earlier, or the blissful periods of time that she had been enjoying. It felt calming, in a way, the rhythmic movements that were almost dance like in their motion. She’d never enjoyed dancing, at least not in the real world – possibly due to the fact that she’d always been within the depths of silence
