  1. Morrígan looked sideways at the man as he mentioned his own personal situation, alongside the assumption of her loss. She considered leaving the topic for a few moments, but ended up speaking her mind to clear away any confusion or misunderstanding that may have aligned itself between them. ’I appreciate the sentiment meant behind your words, but I myself haven’t lost anyone within the game. At least, not someone who was more than an acquaintance. I cannot begin to imagine the difficulty that must place upon you, and the hardship that it entails.’ Although her words may have carried a p
  2. His prompt, candid reply left Morrígan blinking as he began walking. She took a second to catch her thoughts, before rushing after him, trying to figure out exactly what she had thrown herself into without awareness or consideration. Her feet carried her at a quick pace, her smaller stature and frame requiring faster movement just to keep up with the larger man, and she found herself breathing slightly heavier as she eventually reached his side. ’I believe thanks are in order. It would have been tragic for myself if you hadn’t stumbled upon me when you had, I dare say.’ She forced herself
  3. She nodded, a curt movement that barely registered beyond a slight shift of her chin, in response to the confirmation that this was the man’s second quest. She held no judgement – she herself had barely begun her own journey in earnest, and was still learning many of the more basic skills. ’I’ve travelled throughout the available floors, if that is what you are enquiring. Though if the question was directed towards how much progress I’ve made in growth, it would be fair to assume that we’re not too far apart in experience.’ The words sounded odd to her as she realised she was, to a degree
  4. She listened, quietly, as Freyd spoke in contrast to her own ideals. There was familiarity in his tone that suggested he didn’t necessarily ignore her thoughts, but rather expanded upon them – neither agreement nor disagreement, but rather experience providing insight to a previous occurrence. Her head tilted slightly, however, at a number of words. ’I think, therefore I am.’ She whispered the words at the mention of his own ideals, smiling to herself before shaking her head slightly. The words themselves only gave a partial insight into her own thoughts and ideals about the man she cal
  5. Retracing her steps showed her a side tunnel that she had missed originally, Phantom seated upon a stone at its entryway. There was a measure of annoyance in the raven’s form, visible even within the dim lighting that sourced through the tunnel. Morrígan couldn’t quite discern, however, whether the annoyance was at her own lack of awareness of the correct turn, or Phantom’s failure to mark it more clearly. Satisfied that she had managed to find her companion again, she pushed passed the raven and into the open expanse within the pathway; immediately noticing how the light brightened sligh
  6. Moments had turned into hours as Morrígan had wandered through the underground tunnels, following Phantom as the raven led her onwards. Small gaps in the rocks, leading towards the surface, had provided enough light to push back the darkness that threatened to take over the entire area. It provided just enough light that Morrígan was able to see the path in front of her, and more importantly Phantom ahead of her. She hadn’t thought ahead, considering the fact that the darkness found within tunnels might have limited her vision in some way – and she was happy that she hadn’t been forced to stum
  7. Morrígan walked in silence as the other player spoke, taking mental notes of everything he said and trying to determine – almost immediately – what was worth remembering, and what was little more than embellishment or rhetoric stated for her own benefit. She quickly noticed that he attempted to humble himself, denying his knowledge of the area, after his explanation that his rank was little more than a formality; designed to show his desire to train and bring those rising through the world of Aincrad into a small measure of readiness. ’The world around us adjusts, while we remain statio
  8. The location had been easy enough to traverse towards. Few monsters of any kind fell upon her path – the roads relatively safe, if one avoided the more obvious ambush points along its route. She’d made good time, only a few hours having passed since she left the Town of Beginnings behind. But as she stood before the collection of tunnels before her, Morrígan found herself wondering how she was supposed to pick the correct one. ’They all look exactly the same…’ There was no frustration in her voice, thankfully hidden behind her façade of acceptance and calmness. That, however, didn’t sto
  9. A soft shimmer, and Morrígan found herself standing on the teleporter pad within the courtyard that made up the central entryway to the Town of Beginnings. She quickly stepped down from the pad, moving away for those who came behind her even as she heard the hum of their arrival. The area was busy, far busier than Morrígan had seen it in some time. She made a mental note to check, at a later point, what was going on, before making her way towards the gates and the exterior of the town. Whatever event was occurring, it seemed limited to the main courtyard, the side streets and pathways o
  10. Scents of the Wild: Keepers of Nature Morrígan held the information broker’s gaze, the man withering slightly even though he toward over her. His words had been half-truths, and she’d become frustrated with his behaviour as he’d continued speaking; a fact which was becoming clear in her continued glaring into his facial features. ’That’s all I have! Really! I can’t give you anything I don’t have, and all that we know is that there’s some sort of tree that you have to decipher!’ He withered further as she took a partial step towards him, her arms held calmly in front of her; the left
  11. His words were kind, carefully chosen and clearly designed to alleviate the embarrassment and concern towards her imagery that she’d felt growing within her; emotions that she was, relatively, unfamiliar with in relation to herself. They did, however, work as intended. Morrígan felt herself calm with a smooth breath, nodding her head slightly and smiling – one that wasn’t forced or politely placed, but truthful in its happiness – in response to his caring words. ’Thank you. I appreciate the assistan-‘ Her words chocked in her throat as the invitation to join together was passed between t
  12. His acceptance was cold, but not in the demeanor that Morrígan was used to from other people. She could tell that he had considered all his options, and chosen this one only because it benefited him; against his desires, most likely, but beneficial nonetheless. She eyed him for a moment as the party request appeared, and was accepted, before his voice broke the silence that had stretched between them. His words were clipped, quick and to the point, little given to any desire of small talk – an experience that Morrígan wasn’t entirely sure she was pleased to encounter. ’The compass should
  13. Morrígan nodded her head as the player introduced themselves, making note of the bow that was performed, a clearly unfamiliar action for the individual. She did, however, pride herself on not smiling in amusement at his attempt, instead placing another pleasant smile and remaining silent as he glanced over the quest details. ’I’ve never shared a quest before. I would be honoured to join together with you in this, Captain Freyd.’ She tilted her head to the right slightly as she heard the terms of his agreement, her smile wavering only slightly as her mind raced to try and find an answer. ’
  14. The wildlands of the first floor were, as always, a measure of cool breezes and flowing grasslands. Morrígan couldn’t help but feel somewhat homely within their expanse, seeing the various similarities towards her own homeland in the real world; different by any measure, and yet pieces that seemed to mimic those she had seen and been surrounded by as she grew from her infantile years. She glanced upwards as the scream of Phantom echoed down towards her, the raven circling higher than normal as something seemed to have caught her attention. Morrígan followed the path with her eyes, seein
  15. Content in her findings, and noticing that the hours had passed by without Morrígan’s previous awareness of the fact, she packed away the stone that she had found and collected Phantom. A single, final glance at the rock outcropping to confirm that she hadn’t missed anything obvious, and Morrígan turned to make her way back towards the Town of Beginnings. She’d accomplished a lot during the day; more than she had expected to complete, if she were being entirely candid with herself, and she knew that it would be good to return before she over did it. ’Hey, what do you think of finding some
  16. The smile erupted across her face as she lifted the rock. It wasn’t quite the size of the raven, but it was far larger than Morrígan had expected to find in reality – at least double the size of her fist, and likely enough to be broken down for multiple uses if she was careful about it. She turned towards Phantom with the piece, showing it off so her companion could see it in its entirety, the black stone shining as the light hit it and reflected off the surface, sparkling with an eye-catching effect that wasn’t blinding or overbearing in appearance. ’Ha! I knew I could find one if I jus
  17. The few pieces that she had found disintegrated the moment that she picked them up, and Morrígan found herself sighing on more than one occasion as she wondered if the effort was worth what she was getting from it all. So far, she’d come away empty handed from the rock cropping, and she was feeling a small measure of frustration at the activity. Pushing herself up from the crouch she had rolled into during her search, Morrígan stretched her muscles in the hopes that alleviating some of the stress on them would help clear away the emotions that had been bubbling up inside her. She was stil
  18. The wind had picked up slightly, just enough to cause the grasses to bow gently as it passed over and through them. The sunshine continued to beat down from above – artificial, and yet familiar upon her skin as Morrígan leaned her head back and looked into the sky above. There was a small degree of enjoyment in the current conditions, even if it wasn’t real in the normal sense. It’s real in the moment, and that’s all that matters…right? She was sure that was the case, now that she’d begun to change her attitude towards everything. What little doubt she had began to wash away as her eyes moved
  19. She tossed away the glittering rock as it began to crumble in her hand; the thing useless to her once its integrity – or lack thereof – had been confirmed. Still, she knew there could be more to be found in the area, and she began scouring with her eyes and hands while she considered everything that lay ahead for the pair of them. She had no doubt that their journey was only just starting, and as Phantom landed among the rock cropping, Morrígan couldn’t resist sharing her ideas with the companion who had joined her on her adventure. ’I think it’ll be important for us to focus on a couple
  20. It worked almost too perfectly, the creature slamming into the tip of her halberd without a care for its own safety or the injuries it was about to receive. The impact slammed into Morrígan’s frame, and she had to step back to avoid being completely thrown by the power of it all. The halberd hovered for a moment, the weight of the boar bearing it down, before the creature erupted into shards and disappeared from existence forever; or at least until it respawned somewhere else in the world. Morrígan let out a sigh as the fight came to an end, her loot stored away and the danger gone – or a
  21. Morrígan almost couldn’t believe her luck as the boar sailed passed her once more. It had charged the moment she’d pulled the item from her pouch, but despite its repeated attempts and her distraction at trying to finish the item and gain the surge in energy, she’d remained untouched thus far. It’s definitely angry about that, though. She shifted on her feet again, sliding to the side as the boar rushed passed her and into the grasses beyond, disappearing except for the telltale sign of bent and broken flora following its path. Alright, energy is back. I should be able to end this thing n
  22. She’d been lucky, the boar seemed hesitant as she pulled the item from her pouch, waiting until she had finished it before it seemed to move forward with a sluggish movement. Morrígan easily stepped aside as it fumbled past her; less of a charge and more of a stumbling run that left it careening into the distance and away from her entirely. It had been enough to allow her to adjust herself, however, and as she brought the halberd down, she considered her options – glancing around quickly to make sure that no other creatures had decided to attempt to join the companion that had clearly fallen i

  24. Morrígan was about to deny the woman’s offer for assistance, but stopped herself short. Her hand had risen slightly, the palm extended outwards in a movement that was very obviously meant to wave away the other’s offer, in kind with her own verbal denial; but it dropped again as the expression on Morrígan’s face softened slightly. She shifted on the spot, letting her more formal stance relax ever so slightly – still proper, still maintaining the decorum that one of her status had been taught to hold; and yet somehow less uptight in appearance than it had been before. ’I’m not familiar wi
  25. The man’s eyes seemed to alight as soon as he saw the book, but Morrígan wasn’t prepared for the sudden change in his demeanor. She had expected him to barter, to a degree, for the item in question – a barter that would likely end up going back and forth for a while. When he immediately offered her a sum far beyond any amount that she could’ve expected to make on her own, however, she found herself struck dumb and mute as she recoiled from the odd tactic. Her eyes shifted down to the book, barely catching his sudden intake of breath, mid-sentence halt and the ever growing screeching sound of w
