  1. The stillness, the silence. You'd think one could hear the horrified screams of damned souls, or echoed screeches of banshees mimicking human terror and pain. That, or at least the footsteps of the large beings beyond their comprehension. No, instead there was just the complete and utter lack of any activity. Even the air remained unmoving, stale. Shifting only with the pink, slimey tendrils that slithered around buildings and into the broken alleyways of this forsaken city. Kindling fought the overwhelming urge that nagged at his brain, to look up. The being there was tugging at his mind, uns
  2. Minako's breath hung in the air as she rubbed her gloved hands together. The snow covered lands of floor four made for an interesting contest, at least in comparison to Kindling's fire infused floor four floors up. She couldn't help but wonder how he was doing? Were the contestants behaving? It didn't really matter too much, she knew that he could handle himself. After all, he was going to be the one who saved everyone. And if that was the case, he could handle a few rowdy people here and there. Putting her own mind at ease, she stepped closer to the edge of the ice and snow filled pit. It was
  3. Minako rubbed her head, still feeling the awful aftereffects of floor 29. Last weeks games were a messy blur, and she couldn't remember much other than who won which bout. Regardless, she had her partner to thank for keeping her in check, and to help with the strange after-effects. Kindling was growing to be more and more of a prominent part of her life, and one she was thankful to have. She couldn't have asked for a better showmen, nor partner. She smiled as she tried on her simple gown. It was cinched at the waist by a beautiful bet of gold. Decorated with golden finery, it stood brightly ou

  5. A Mountaintop so far in the sky, that it's upper reaches and summit are permanently shrouded in thick, white clouds, obscuring the home of the gods from view. Olympia. Reminiscent of it's real life counterpart, Olympus, the grey rocks of granite, marble, and unquarried stone stand all as a stark reminder of the divinity of it's inhabitants. It was difficult to describe, something about the face of that natural structure screamed perfection. As though Cardinal itself injected the word into the mind of any who gazed upon it. Though, in effect, it was much like a museum artifact; you could look,
  6. Bubbling seas of magma, pockets where it jetted out sometimes fifteen feet into the air, the entire ground clinging to the feet of those who walked onto it from the tar-like crust that formed atop the streams and rivers of the molten material below. What was not to love about the wonderful stretches of Floor Nine? This was a destination hot spot, a place of fiery passion just outside the reaches of Yalon Village on this floor. Well, okay. Maybe the heat wasn't to die for. Or the Fauna, made of twisting pillars of fire or having backs of dark rock that ebbed with the life blood of the earth bel

  15. From Floor one, to floor eleven, it was time to move to a different floor that didn't have a one in it. A faraway place, where the caravan camels roam. Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face, it's barbaric. And it was perfect for them. Floor five was a far cry from the moderately temperate places they were hosting the previous two weeks. The sand was an obstacle itself, with it being rough, and coarse, and irritating. And it was sure to get everywhere. Minako didn't mind the sand, or the heat. She always viewed it as a beach rather than a massive desert the lack of humidity n

  19. How was he back here already? In the deserts of floor five, Kindling felt like he had just barely gotten the feeling of his teeth grinding and crunching dirt out of his mouth a few moments ago. Of course, the truth was, it had been a few weeks, and he hadn't suffered through the same sandstorm on his way back, but it was more of the general disdain for the coarse, rough sand that had gotten everywhere. Though in this specific case, it was a boon to the announcer. He looked over each mound of sand, knowing that beneath the dunes, there were small treats placed for each of today's competitors. T
