[PP-F5] This Aint Quicksand... >>Blood in the Sand<< (Manta Gaul, Seul)

Recommended Posts

The hot desert air made Vayrin's eyes haze a little. the blue orb faded as the violet haired girl stood alone on the teleportation podium. She took a couple steps off of it and stopped to observe the town. Floor 5 was not your average tourist destination. The entire floor was engulfed in a massive desert. the endless dunes would stretch across more then 3 quarters of the entire floor. Although Vayrin didint come here for tourism. She began walking down the sandstone streets until she found a spot good enough for her need of shade. She walked under the outcrop of a building and leaned against it. She quickly swished open her menu and began looking through her quest log. Today was going to be an experiment.

Manta walked around the fifth floor, her mind on things other than where she was going. She was fully decked out in all of her equipment, which was probably a dumb idea for being on the fifth floor. Her ensemble was completed by the rather obvious santa hat on her head. She still wasn't entirely sure exactly why she was wearing it. Christmas was coming up after all, so no one could fault her for it. That wasn't what she was thinking about though. She was thinking about more pressing issues involving her love life. As it happened she didn't actually want to think about that, so she was in the process of looking for something to do, such as a quest boss or the like to fight.

He hated coming here. Anything past floor three seemed like a hellish nightmare through Seul's eyes. Nothing but sand for as far as the eye could see. As long as that sand wasn't actually in your eye of course. "Legna, I think I'm dying." He groaned to the small dragon who seemed perfectly content under the shade of his hood. How any being could be so resilient as to not join in on the whining was beyond him. "One can only hope..." The familiar responded in a low voice next to his ear. It was at times like this when the boy questioned why he had even done the taming quest in the first place. Aside from the extra experience, the main reward had been disappointing. His pet provided no buffs and made for an annoying traveling companion thanks to the constant verbal abuse thrown his way. Still, he wouldn't be able to bring himself to kill Legna. They had been through a lot and it was comforting to have someone there while alone in the field. Plus it'd be hard to be a dragon tamer without a dragon to show.

They had eventually arrived near the quest board, ready and willing to take on another task today. Only it hadn't been updated since the last visit and the only one available was to hunt down the field boss. An ironic chill ran down his spine as memories of the last encounter flooded back and how he had suffered quite a beating at the jaws of the creature, but left with no other choice he wandered off to the town gate to scope out for any other players who'd be willing to party up.

Vayrin leaned against the wall for a few more moments scrolling through her menu, when the shadow of a player passed her. She looked up for a moment, then went back to her menu. Vayrin then realized that player looked familiar. She looked up again to see a white haired girl walking by the had a striking resemblance to someone she had met a while ago. She squinted at the figure as she walked away. Vayrin then shot a glance to the hilt of her sword. That's when she remembered where she had gotten it. "Manta...?" Vayrin said quietly under her breath. She then began following the player and called out her name. "Hey, Manta!" She said suddenly, not even knowing if that was the right player or not. She hesitated to walk towards the player, waiting to see if it was her or not.

Manta spun around to see a girl with purple hair calling out to her. She looked vaguely familiar, but Manta didn't remember her name, she just recognized the purple hair. The woman obviously knew her though, as she had called out her name. Manta waved to her and walked over. "Hey..." She paused for a couple of moments, trying to remember the womans name. That was right, V. "Hey V, whats up?" She asked.

He had heard something strange on the way out of town. Poking his head around a nearby corner he was able to see a pair of females, one of which he already had the pleasure of meeting. Even if it was just to beat each other into bloody pulps. It could seem luck was on his side for once. If anyone would be able to kill the sand shark, it'd be Manta.  He probably wouldn't have even needed to lift a finger in the process. "Easiest experience I'll ever earn..." He mumbled before striding over to greet them both. "Hey, hiya; fancy seeing you here! Small world as they say.~"

Vayrin was relieved to see the girl turn in her direction. It was indeed Manta. The girl who had helped her back when she was only level 1. And she had remembered her it seemed, or at least the first letter of her name. "Haven't seen you in a while." Vayrin said back to her as she walked towards her. "I thought  you were a front liner now, what are you doing on this floor?" She asked curiously. Then, another person had joined in on their conversation. She turned her head to see a taller, black haired boy walking towards them. He said it like he new one of them. She looked back at Manta, thinking it was her.

Manta looked behind her to see Seul approaching, the player she had beaten in a duel a while back. She grinned, remembering that. If she had been strong back then she was doubly so now. "Hey Seul." She said in greeting before turning back to V. "Yeah, I am. Being a frontliner is a full time job, but it doesn't just involve the higher up floors. Its all about getting skill points and helping lower level players rank up." She explained. "I usually hang out here and help people with the sand shark quest." She glanced over at Seul momentarily. "So what are you two doing here?" She asked them both.
