Teion gave a long stretch, letting out a yawn as the blacksmith scratched her head. The morning was just beginning, and already she found plenty of work to be done. Taking a step out of her shop, the girl passed through the city of Fortaleza on the same mission she found herself on quite often lately: finding more materials. Another day was passing in Aincrad, and as she tried to push the somber thoughts of the virtual prison from her mind, she instead looking up at the sky, squinting as the sun beat down on her so heavily. She pulled up on her Treasure Hunter’s Scarf, enjoying the feeling of the thin fabric on her fingers.

’It isn’t easy to keep up with everything.’ Teion thought idly to herself as she walked through the city. She frowned as she considered the floor she was on; the desert wasn’t the kindest of environments, especially when it came to material hunting. She wouldn’t find much of interest to do, that was for sure. Shrugging it off, she hoped the sandstorms from the previous night had kicked up enough sand to unearth something of interest. As she reached the outside of the small city, a sparkle in the sands caught her eye just outside of the gates. Jogging up to the location, she knelt down and dug into the sand to find a small gemstone to be used for crafting.

Breaking out into a grin, the girl was pleased with her quick luck, mentally crossing her fingers that the rest of her search would be so successful. For a moment, she thought she saw another shining metal not far off, but when she got close and investigated she found nothing of interest in the sands. She frowned as the artificial earth ran through her fingers. Even after all this time, it was hard to believe everything in this world was fake; just pictures and light playing in their mind while she and thousands of others lay helpless in what she could only assume were hospital beds. Once again, she tried to push the unfavorable thoughts from her mind.

Heaving a sigh, she frowned as the sun continued to beat down on her. Trudging through the sandy hills, she covered a bit of distance without finding anything of interest. Looking back, she could see Fortaleza in the distance behind the hazy air. Turning back to face forward, she kicked up some sand and then swiped in the air to pull up her inventory. Teion pressed a few buttons and materialized a container of water, taking sips as she wondered to herself just how far the desert went.

The woman could spot a sandstorm in the distance, again wondering just how far each of Aincrad's levels reached. If she kept walking, would she eventually circle back to her original position? Would she run into an invisible wall? The possibilities crossed her mind one after another and she walked a bit more slowly as her path derailed off to the side. She still couldn't find anything more of interest, and was starting to think she had gone too far from the city and wouldn't actually find anything at all if she strayed too far. Frowning at the thought, she was suddenly met by ground rushing up to meet her.

"Oof!" Teion let out a grunt as she collided with the rough ground. Looking back at her feet, she spotted something slithering in the ground that she must have tripped over. 'Wait...it's moving...' She finally realized she had managed to trip over a monster. Scrambling to her feet, a group of rattlesnakes circled her, making a somewhat familiar sound as the ends of their tails shook back and forth. Teion quickly reached behind her to grab her axe and immediately activated a sword art. She swung the blade around and cleaved through four snakes, letting out a sigh of relief as she managed to take them out quickly.
