[SP-F2] Me or the Rock <<Breaking the Unbreakable>>

Recommended Posts

Going for a simple punch, Teselmar cocked his fist beside his ear, then closed the distance and delivered the blow with as much force as his wearied limb could muster. "I'll wear you down... big, dumb... rock!" He panted.

The punch ricocheted off of the rock, barely missing a solid blow. Teselmar put his head down, committing to try again.

"Not in a talkative mood, are ya big guy?" Teselmar quipped at the rock, taking another large swing at its craggy mass. Hopefully, he'd be able to inflict some sort of mortal wound upon the foul beast.

Perhaps not a mortal wound, but a great strike nonetheless. Teselmar's fist arced inwards, this time leaving a large imprint where it connected. "Could've sworn I heard you say somethin' that time!" He chuckled, surveying the damage.

"Play time is over, let's get serious!" He yelled at the boulder, half to psyche himself up, and half to keep himself awake. He raise his left leg, driving a heel kick in towards the crack in the boulder's outer shell.

Not good. His heel caught in the crack of the rock, and he rebounded off of it and onto his rear end. Not dangerous, but definitely humiliating. Teselmar laid there for a moment, catching his breath. He looked up into the starry night sky. True, it wasn't real. And yes, it was the ceiling of a prison. But it was a breathtaking sight at that moment.

Teselmar got back on his feet, brushing the dust off of his outfit. "Gotta take time to appreciate the small things in life..."

"Well, this time's gotta go better than last time." Teselmar reared back, as he had many other times that night, attempting to once again drive the palm of his hand into the center of the rock, like a mechanical hammer.

It didn't go quite as badly, but it was still an inconclusive blow. The rock still stood, a silent witness to his haggard attempts.

The hours were ticking by. Teselmar began repeating to himself like a mantra, It's not over til it's over... it's not over til it's over... He readied another strike, this time with the knife edge of his hand. Holding it by his ear, he shot it forward, whipping the bone at the base of his wrist into the boulder.

ID# 43449 results: Battle: 9

A great hit! His knife hand chipped away at the boulder even more, widening the main crack by just a smidge. Teselmar really felt like he was making progress now.  It's not over til it's over... it's not over til it's over...

It's not over til it's over... it's not over til it's over... The words were a grim chant, echoing in the halls of his mind as he lined up yet another blow on the monolith before him. His leg came up, slamming into the rock as hard as possible.

ID# 43453 results: Battle: 4

It didn't take, as the boulder remained steadfast in the face of his kick. He grimaced as the effort made his leg tremble with effort.

The overall sensation of numbness and impact was beginning to take its toll on him, but Teselmar refused to surrender to a rock, no matter how big that rock may be. He tried another knife hand, whipping the edge of his left hand as fast as he could. "Come on!"

ID# 43456 results: Battle: 1

Another colossal failure, as his hand was nearly disabled from impact. "Ouch. You know, I'd almost prefer that it hurt me, instead of this awful sensation..."

Resting his hand, Teselmar braced himself and spun in a complete 180, whipping his left heel at the boulder. "I refuse to lose to a rock!" He shouted as he committed to the blow.

It was less than stellar, the rock once again denying his attack, like a mountain denies a breeze. Try, try again indedd...

Until he dropped from sheer exhaustion, Teselmar was not going to give an inch to the rock. While his right hand was recovering, he curled his left into a fist and slammed it into the boulder.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day, as they say! His hand made a right proper indent into the stone, scoring it. If this was real life, his knuckles would be bloodied and broken by now. Thankfully, the game kept all his blood in the right places. "Hope that hurt, !$#%!"

Emboldened by this latest success, Teselmar discovered that his right hand finally had feeling return to it. Letting it return to a fist, he overcame his natural inclination to avoid the impact, and once again whipped his hand into the side of the boulder. Hopefully I'm wearing it down...

ID# 43464 results: Battle: 6

The punch barely landed on the rock, but he felt the stone shift slightly under his hand. It seemed he was having an effect on the boulder!

"Okay, big dumb rock... you know you're not gonna win... so do me a favor... and fall over, yeah?" Teselmar halfheartedly raised his left hand, delivering a less than solid punch to the now-weathered looking boulder.

ID# 43467 results: Battle: 6

Another punch that barely made it past the standard for doing damage, he felt a decent portion of the boulder slough off beneath his trembling fist. "I don't think I've ever had such an annoying work-out buddy, Mr. Rock..." He panted, addressing the rock with undisguised scorn. The torches continued to cast an almost ethereal glow over the scene.

"Just a bit more, Mr. Rock... I know you wanna fall over..." Teselmar gasped as he spun once more, lashing out at the boulder with a straight front kick. "Just give up already, I'm not gonna let you win!" The look on his face was fearsome.

 ID# 43469 results: Battle: 3

A near miss, as the kick deflected away from the crack in the boulder by its edges. "I have to try harder!"

Teselmar was aching all over. His whole body heaved with effort as he brought his hands back up in front of his face, like a boxer who's been going the distance with a similarly skilled opponent. Tiredly, he raised both hands above his head, intending to bring them crashing down on the boulder in front of him. "...Just fall already..." He spoke wearily, letting his hands come down.

ID# 43475 results: Battle: 2

His paltry efforts weren't rewarded. His hands simply came to a stop on top of the boulder. His implied weakness was enough to give him a second wind. "Urgh! Come on!"

Enraged that he was getting tired so easily, Teselmar angrily wound up a haymaker, dashing at the boulder with all of his strength. "Make me tired? Don't make me laugh!" He swung hard at the rock.

His hand made the rock buckle with impact, though it still stood. "I can feel it, you wanna crumble, right big guy?"

The boulder was just sitting there, taunting him. Victory was within his grasp, all he had to do was continue pounding away at the lump of stone in front of him. He swung hard once again.

...The outcome of this one is hardly worth describing. Only an uncomfortable numbness and a jolt were awaiting him.

The sun was beginning to rise. He'd been out here all night, and the boulder was still standing. The torches went out, and the sky began to grow more and more blue. Still, Teselmar refused to give up and go back down the mountain. "I'm not gonna live with these whiskers on my face..." He lashed out with a roundhouse kick at the boulder, frustrated at his inability to break the rock.

ID# 43483 results: Battle: 4

His kick did nothing, except to reignite his desire to break the rock.

As the sun grew brighter, Teselmar began to feel his energy wane. He paused, withdrawing another <<bread>> and a <<water>> from his inventory. Upon consuming them, he felt a little bit better. I still need sleep... but not before I finish this... He raised his fist, once again driving it towards the target.

ID# 43485 results: Battle: 4

The punch went wide, but Teselmar wasn't deterred. "I'm gonna take this boulder down, even if it wastes my whole week..."

His punch didn't do the trick, so Teselmar reared up for a palm fist. He hadn't used one of these in a while, but not much seemed to be working at this point. He brought his hand forward, determined to shatter the boulder where it stood.

ID# 43487 results: Battle: 6

The hit connected, and Teselmar could finally see a little bit of daylight coming through the top of the crack. "Almost... just a bit more... " he panted.

His suit was out of place, his tie was half-undone, and his hair was unkempt. But he was still standing, and thus, he could still batter that !$#%ed rock. Teselmar grit his teeth as the sun kept rising, throwing a haymaker at the boulder once more.

ID# 43490 results: Battle: 2

His hand went numb as it crashed into the rock, for the umpteenth time. "That's mighty uncomfortable, as usual Mr. Rock..."

He was growing weary. The sun had risen all the way now, and travelers were making their way down the path. A few stopped and stared as Teselmar reared his leg back, striking the boulder with renewed ferocity.

ID# 43491 results: Battle: 4

Yet another near miss, as Teselmar couldn't seem to muster the strength to connect with the boulder well.
