[SP-F5] Blood on Sand

Darius trudged through the sands of Floor 5. He had just got his new hide armor from Kyoki. The sand, thrown about by the raging wind, constantly got crammed into the cracks and opening of his armor, irritating Darius, as well as battering his face. He wore a rag over his mouth to keep stray sand from getting in.

Darius crested a dune, looking out of the sands, raising a hand to block the sand blowing in the wind so he could see farther. He could make out the distinct speck off a town in the distance; the town his waypoint led him to. Darius slid down the down carefully, making sure not to faceplant. He reached the bottom and started walking across a stretch of flat desert towards another dune, some thirty feet or so away. As he got to the center; his face nothing but anger and displeasure; the sand on the other side of the dune shifting down towards his end. He looked up at the top of the crest above him only to see a drake crest over it. It spotted Darius and roared at him. He roared back.

The drake charged down the sands towards Darius. He observed it while he had the time. Tough outer scales. Weak scales on its underside. Sharp claws and teeth. Spikes jutting out form all across its body. It would be moderately hard to kill it. He just had to strike at its weak points. Eyes. Underside. Wherever. He smiled wolfishly, his eyes had a crazy light to them. He charged forward to meet the drake. It reeled its head back and launched it forward, going to bite a huge chunk out of Darius.

Darius raised his towershield as the massive mouth full of razor sharp teeth shot at him. The mouth smashed into the shield, the teeth grating against the metal, sending up sparks, and creating a screeching sound like fingernails on a chalkboard. The attack had pushed Darius back, him not being able to get traction from the loose sand. As Darius came to a stop from the Drake's momentum, he stabbed his sword form around his shield at the Drake's torso. He felt his sword stab into the hard scales, dealing some damage to the beast.
