Teselmar 0 Posted January 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) Teselmar was awake and ready to set out for a day of grinding mobs. He left the inn where he'd been staying for the last few days, and traveled out to the forest, seeking out a monster or two to farm. Brushing his hand against the rapier at his side, he let his thoughts wander to his friends, Opal and Ishida. He wondered where they were at the moment... Teselmar 0 Posted January 13, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) It was a regular day in the neighborhood that was Floor 1. Simple, but not easy by any means. Teselmar crept up on the Creeper Vine that he was stalking. A group of these monsters had once forced him to flee for his life. Now, he was smart enough to engage them one on one. He charged his blade, green energy coursing through it, and attacked the plant creature with ferocity, his sword art gleaming. ID# 45088 results: Battle: 5+2=7 (hit!) | Mob: 6 STUNNED While the sword art 'Quadruple Pain' ate a lot of his energy, Teselmar knew better than to underestimate his opponent. This type of beast had been a challenge in the past, and he intended to bring all of his technical skill to bear. Fluidly penetrating its stringy torso four times from behind, the creature rustled in anger, but was extremely slow to turn and strike at him. The creatures had excellent reflexes, and Teselmar knew deep down that if he hadn't stunned the monster just then, he'd have taken a hit from the Creeper. As it was, the status allowed him to get out of the way before it could retaliate. Teselmar 0 Posted January 13, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) The creature burbled at him, its vines rustling as it turned to attack him. Teselmar frowned; the creature had more damage mitigation than he'd remembered, and his sword art hadn't done as much damage as he would have liked. Still, he charged up another one as the Creeper Vine's tendrils grasped at him, attempting to whip the man. ID# 45091 results: Battle: 4+2=6 (hit) | Mob: 6 (hit) Rip Ravine tore two neat red lines into the Creeper's center of mass, though the monster also managed to tag him with a spiked tentacle, drawing virtual blood across his arm. Teselmar grunted; his damage mitigation held up, but he hated getting tagged like that. Teselmar 0 Posted January 13, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) The Creeper Vine was none too pleased at this exchange, and its stringy body shook vigorously. Shifting around and shuffling forward, it attempted to confuse Teselmar by snaking a few vines out at a time, whipping them at his face. In turn, Teselmar swung his blade, attempting to slide inside the monster's guard. ID# 45095 results: Battle: 2+2=4 (miss) | Mob: 3 (miss) While the flailing vines made it impossible for Teselmar's rapier to find purchase, they didn't manage to strike the duelist. He weaved, letting the vines slide off around him and batting them away with his sword before backing off, getting ready for a different approach. Teselmar 0 Posted January 13, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) Teselmar didn't pick fights that he knew he couldn't win... typically. So while combat with this monster would eventually end in a victory for him, it would be a lengthy process. Rolling to the side, he attempted a difficult maneuver as the Creeper vine tried to stop him. ID# 45097 results: Battle: 7+2= 9 (hit!) | Mob: 1 (crit fail) Rip Ravine struck once more as he evaded the fumbling of the monster's tendrils. He brought his blade up, then twisted and brought it down. The thick bodied Creeper ate most of the damage, but it still looked like it was feeling some pain. Teselmar 0 Posted January 13, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) Feeling the sword growing heavier in his hands, Teselmar knew that he was running low on energy. He chose to allow the Creeper Vine to assault him, conserving his strength while doing his best to evade the probing tendrils of the plant monster. ID# 45098 results: Mob: 9 (crit) While the beast couldn't do much damage to him through his hardened vest, it was still massively uncomfortable to be picked up bodily and thrown by the Creeper. He tucked and rolled, trying to neutralize the force as much as possible. Teselmar 0 Posted January 13, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted January 13, 2016 (edited) Continuing to conserve his energy and attempt to not let the beast take advantage of him, Teselmar juked left, then attempted to flank the Creeper Vine on its right. A vine whipped out, attempting to lash him for his trouble. ID# 45099 results: Mob: 3 (miss) Teselmar dove over the flailing limb, making himself spherical as he came up on the beast's side, ready to attack again. Teselmar 0 Posted January 14, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) Teselmar had recovered enough to make a move, striking quickly and with great precision at the leafy green compost pile. It snarled at him as he closed in, and tried to batter him into submission. ID# 45318 results: Battle: 8+2=10 (hit) | Mob: 4 (miss) The blow struck home, gouging the plant as he simultaneously leaned backwards to avoid the counter offensive. Teselmar 0 Posted January 14, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted January 14, 2016 (edited) Buckling down for a slug fest with the shambling horror, the blade of Teselmar's rapier gleamed in the morning air. "Let's try something else." he said, conserving his energy as he assumed a defensive stance. The Creeper Vine whirled, trying to smash its limbs into him at full force. ID# 45522 results: Mob: 3 (miss) Blocking the vine with a blade, he skidded backwards from the impact. The tactic would buy him some time and let him save up some energy as well. Teselmar 0 Posted January 15, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) The mossy beast weaved and bounced, making ruffling noises as it circled the fencer. Still trying to gather the stamina needed for his most powerful sword art, he tried to get out of the way as it rushed him, its vines aiming for his limbs. ID# 45529 results: Mob: 3 (miss) "Oh, missed me again tough guy!" He taunted the beast, evading its clumsy strikes with a now-practiced ease. Teselmar 0 Posted January 15, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Teselmar decided that now was the time to strike, after letting his energy rise to a boiling point. The monster wailed on him like he was an oversized djimbe drum, but Teselmar's blade intercepted its paltry blows. He twisted, letting his blade charge up with an unearthly light as he unleashed his most potent sword art available, Crucifixion. The move would leave him with very little energy afterwards, so he hoped to make it count. ID# 45858 results: Battle: 10 (Crit!) | Mob: 2 (miss) The beast swung at him again, but Teselmar was able to read it with enough clarity and comprehension to make every English teacher in America happy. His sword blazed crimson as he traced a bloody cross into his opponent's torso; a good omen, for a future Knight of the Blood Oath. It overwhelmed his foe's defenses, and brought it down to its proverbial knees. With a cry that sounded like crinkling leaves, it imploded into a million pixels. "Good game, ugly." Teselmar 0 Posted January 16, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) Teselmar made his way back out of the forest, unable to find any loot from the encounter with the Creeper Vine. Save for the typical Col drop, he had hoped to find some sort of materials or whatnot, to make his idea for an artisan shop a viable reality. His health had shot back up to full after being out of battle, and he knew that he would be back up to full energy within ten minutes or so as well. He made up his mind to attempt to search for cord-making materials and gems within the fields, determined not to waste any more daylight. "Let's see if I can't find anything around here..." ID# 45865 results: Loot: 6 (fail) He spent some time looking in the area around the edge of the forest. "Doesn't seem to be anything here... Okay, maybe deeper into the field." Teselmar 0 Posted January 16, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) He was really searching for some unique kind of materials, something that he could eventually use to craft an exotic and rare masterpiece of an item. The Mona Lisa didn't get painted with shoddy materials, neither must his work! Teselmar searched on hand and knee for some rare and out of the ordinary gems amongst the rocks, something that a crafter would be proud to have in their inventory. ID# 45867 results: Loot: 9 (fail) Again, he was unable to find anything of value. "Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place..." He said with a small frown, and got up to head towards the rolling hills near the middle of the Crossing Field. Edited January 16, 2016 by Teselmar
Teselmar 0 Posted January 16, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) Scanning the rolling hills with his eyes for any items of value or plants that may contain rare components for crafting, Teselmar sighed. He was doing all of this looking... It reminded him of police work. And not the fun kind of police work, the tedious kind: stakeouts, paperwork, anything with an arbitrary amount of time that had to be completed. He searched with dull purpose, looking hard for something that would stand out. ID# 45870 results: 12 (fail) Just wasn't happening for him at the moment. The sun was now high in the sky, and it was setting the grass ablaze with brilliant light. Giving up on this particular spot, he decided to try the more craggy region that led towards floor 2. Teselmar 0 Posted January 16, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) The place where hills turned into mountains was near the edge of an unscalable wall of stone; it was part of what supported the ceiling of the floors above them, an ever-floating fortress in the sky. There were bound to be gemstones and other materials here, but he hadn't been as lucky this time as he had been the last time he'd been out material hunting. Regardless, he was determined to try. ID# 45873 results: Loot: 19 (success!) Teselmar's eye was caught by a glimmer, coming from a speck of stone on the face of the mountainside. Taking the hilt of Pinprick and bashing the pommel into the mountain, the gem fell loose, becoming a material item. An <<Amethyst>>, useful for crafting accessories. So the expedition wasn't a total wash, at least. +1 Mat Edited January 16, 2016 by Teselmar
Teselmar 0 Posted January 17, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) He'd found one material, but it would be to his advantage if he could scrounge some more. Shimmying around the crags and rocky protrusions, Teselmar looked around to see if there were any other items that he could scavenge. ID# 45914 results: Loot: 15 (success!) Another glimmer clued him in to the shiny gem that was lodged deep in the crevice of a large stone. Putting his hand inside the hollow, he withdrew an <<Opal>>, also useful in crafting accessories. Haha, an opal. Go figure. +1 Mat: 2 total Edited January 17, 2016 by Teselmar
Teselmar 0 Posted January 17, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) He was glad to see that his searching was producing some results. The mountainous region seemed to have some hidden gems just waiting for him to find- literally, in this case. He investigated the base of the mountain again, seeing if there was anything he had missed the first time around. ID# 45916 results: Loot: 16 (success!) Teselmar couldn't believe his eyes: an emerald, just waiting to be harvested! Right there in front of him! He pocketed the gem with a look of amazement. Teselmar 0 Posted January 17, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) It had been a great day thus far for Teselmar, and he wanted to see how far fortune might be willing to take this running joke. Striding around the rock face, he attempted to find some plant materials in the grass beside the giant stone face. ID# 45917 results: Loot: 19 (success!) By the mother of all saints, is it Christmas already? He found a unique plant material just sitting there out in the open; a <<Tesla Flower>>, a type of flower that made for a beautiful crafting item. +1 mat: 4 total Edited January 17, 2016 by Teselmar
Teselmar 0 Posted January 17, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) The trip down to the first floor had been extremely worth it. The amount of materials that he was going to be able to stock after this little excursion was significant. Teselmar continued to scrounge around for more plant materials, humming a little tune as he did so. ID# 45920 results: 12 (failure) He couldn't be mad, not being able to find any more materials in the area. The fact that he'd gotten even that many was worth the effort, but he'd make one more pass before heading back to town. Edited January 17, 2016 by Teselmar
Teselmar 0 Posted January 17, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted January 17, 2016 (edited) Making one final pass for materials, Teselmar searched all over the area. Up and down, left and right, he wanted to make sure that anything he could possibly use in order to give himself an edge would be utilized. ID# 45921 results: Loot: 12 (failure) It seemed like the area didn't have anything else to offer him, and so Teselmar's grindfest/material hunt was complete. "A hard day's work..."
