(PP-F11) The Bells Pt. 2 (Lessa)

Recommended Posts

The lights that shone from the stained glass windows of the cathedral led the two to a thin alleyway. Just what awaited them down this path was unknown.. but it was definitely more than a coincidence that the stream of lights created a path straight to here. Jomei took a step forward so that he walked in front of Lessa through the walkway. Despite the fact that they were in the safe zone at the moment, he wanted to make sure that they were ready for anything.. Especially if this path managed to lead them outside of the town and into dangerous areas where they could be attacked. Jomei rested his left hand on the handle of his rapier that sat on his waist on the same side. He turned his head so he looked over his shoulder at the blonde that walked behind him, "So... any idea where this might lead us?"

"No," she replied softly, her gaze still on the colors that led her toward the outskirts of town. "I really have no idea." In truth, she found herself deeply conflicted. There was a very good chance that she was leading the pair on a wild goose chase. She had only heard the rumors of the Cathedral lights over drinks at the bar, and in passing while roaming the floor. Nothing concrete had ever given her any real direction, so for all she knew, she and Jomei were just wasting time chasing silly stories. Hell, Lessa may have even heard them incorrectly. "Really," she mused aloud, "this could all be a bunch of nonsense. But the fact we can still make out these lights, even though we can't see the Cathedral anymore, makes me think this can't be a coincidence." It really was odd, how the lights shone faintly beneath their feet, even though they had left the building far behind them. It was like the lights had always been there, but they could only be seen if one were to look very closely.

Jomei nodded in agreement, keeping his eyes peeled, but also making sure to keep track of the lights on the ground before them. "Yeah.. it is definitely too much of a coincidence. We have to be on to something." His tone of voice was low, but not enough to be a whisper. Just low enough so the two could concentrate on where they were going and figure out just where these lights were leading them. "Well.. even if it is a bunch of nonsense.. At least its coming off as a fun adventure to be had together..right?" The Irishman looked over his shoulder at the blonde behind him, giving her a soft smile. His head turned forward again, olive eyes keeping to the stone ground. He kept his focus and walked slowly, trying not to lose sight of the faded lights on the ground. Where would this lead them, he wondered.. Back out to the streets, a door, or maybe out into the wilds through a passageway in the wall. With that thought in mind, his fingers curled and uncurled from the handle of his rapier.

The lightheartedness in his words and his tone were contagious, and the blonde felt a smile softening her features. "Yeah," she replied, nodding. "You're right. Whatever we find, it has been nice seeing you again." As she picked her way along the cobblestone pathway, she felt herself reflecting on the statement she had just delivered. It had been nice spending time with the Irishman again. In truth, it was nice spending time with anyone again. For so long, she had hidden herself away from those who might remember her, or worse, remind her. And when cornered, no doubt she would resort to that same line of thinking once more. But after the long conversation she had held with the redhead, she felt more at ease than she had in a while.

One final turn, and their narrow path opened into a broad street. A few players milled about, but the area was fairly deserted overall. As she looked closer, the woman recognized why. On the other side of the street lay a gate to the city. In their explorations, Jomei and Lessa had reached the edge of the safe zone. The woman slowed to a halt, already navigating through her menu to equip her full armor. Call it paranoia, but the blue eyed warrior rarely entered a danger zone without decking herself in complete gear. Especially now, on the eleventh floor, she recognized the importance of being prepared.

"Still with me?" She asked, glancing over her shoulder at her companion.

Jomei smiled back at Lessa when she agreed with the man that it was nice spending time together once again. He had to admit, he had noticed something.. off with the girl from the last time they had met. Something had been bothering her, he could not tell what or if it were just that bad, but it seemed something had been on the girl's mind. However, he did notice that as they spoke more and more, she shone a couple of soft smiles. His company was doing something to put the girl at ease it seemed.

As they turned one last corner, they both came to a stop when they noticed that they were now about to leave the safe vicinity of Taft. Jomei's suspicions were right, seems as though this journey would take them straight out into the outskirts of town, where things would most likely get a bit more interesting. His olive eyes watched as Lessa when into her menu to equip her armor, and Jomei did the same. As his body lit up with a white light and faded once again, his body was covered in green cloth and black leather plates. On his hip, as it already was, the black and red rapier. He looked back to Lessa, "Yeah. Lets go."
