Shark 0 Posted March 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2014 I apologize for the inconvenience of the missing local chat. It will be fixed soon. For the time being, use the Skype chat for further discussions. For access into the group, either contact myself or erroneous. Again, sorry for the inconvenience.
Erroneous 0 Posted March 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2014 I received an automatic email from the hosting company for the server, to quote the highlight of the message. During a recent server audit, we found this account to be exceeding resource usage and causing server overload. Upon investigating, we discovered chat software which was the root of the issue Essentially people have been spending most of their time in the local chat hence why I asked everyone JUST KEEP IT IN-CHARACTER Since this got abused daily by everyone and me of the last few weeks not caring anymore and thereby not enforcing this rule like I used to the last previous months, activity on their server consumption threw a red flag and they not me took it away. Well more like deactivate it and I reactivated the files myself and decided to check my emails because I hadn't done anything to the local chat system myself but I thought it would have been obvious it was someone higher than me who owns the site. And since chatrooms is against their policy (yes even if we use chatngo or whatever else), if "I" or "we" ignore this warning they will suspend and terminate my hosted space and account that I'm paying for. Simple as that. I don't have any intentions to ignore the warning now that I realize it's in their company's policy and I simply didn't read it thoroughly. Nor do I intend to move the server elsewhere as this company has always been good to me even more than GoDaddy and the other companies. This was simply an error on my part that I thought we could slip on by if we kept things low, quiet, and hush hush. The site will continue to act as normal, a message board where players can post and reply to role-play adventures. Private messages too will be unchanged by these events so your free to send direct messages to each other. However "chatting" wise of the site will now be supported by Skype and Skype only.
