Lessa 1 Posted March 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2016 He was waiting for her to say something. The silence between them was not the comfortable, easy silence that often hung between friends. On the contrary, there was a heavy expectancy within it, and there was no need to turn to see Baldur looking at her; she could feel his gaze upon her, and she knew he was trying to gauge her reaction. To live simply for survival isn't really living? The thought was not a pleasant one, and in truth, the blonde did not even wish to entertain it. Maybe he was right. He probably was, she would reflect upon later. But at that moment, Lessa simply bit down hard on the inside of her cheek. The retort was there on the tip of her tongue. He had warned her against giving into despair. Was that truly what she was doing? On the surface, it felt like the opposite. She had lit the fire in her belly. She had chosen a reason to get out of bed. What if she wanted to live for the people on the outside? What if she wanted to lose herself for a while? What if she hated what the game had molded her into, and she simply wanted to survive long enough to see the end? Isn't that motivation enough? Bu she could not tell him that. When the woman finally turned, she was met with blue eyes as wide and deep as any ocean, overflowing with hope. How could she crush that? "Hey," she managed finally. "Let's keep walking." Without waiting for a response, she removed her arm from his, and continued down the path.
