[SP-F1] Taking it Slow

Recommended Posts

As he walked, Gorou placed the sheathed his axe, and put it back on his belt, seeing as there wasn't a single boar in the immediate area. The walk back to the city was taking a lot longer than he had anticipated. He must've been wandering for quite some distance since he had only just gotten back to the wooden dock nearby the lake he rested at a an hour prior.

Deciding to take a rest here yet again, he followed the boardwalk all the way to the end. His steps echoed in the surrounding silence, and a gentle breeze swept through him. It was a welcome coolness, since Gorou didn't really like the heat, and needed to cool down. The bench was still unoccupied, to which he was thankful for, so he took a seat and gazed out into the sparkling water ahead. "I wonder why no one's ever here?" he wondered as he looked around for a sign of any other players. He found none however, and simply shrugged. "Maybe it's just a slow day, and everyone's busy." he rationalized before plopping down on the bench horizontally with his feet kicked up onto the armrest.

Gorou sighed once he had seen the sun set over the horizon. It was a great view. The orange hues mixed in with the sparkling lake which resulted in a spectacular view, and the warmth of the sun felt great along with the gentle breeze rolled on by. He had no doubt that other players would surely enjoy this place. With all the fighting on the front lines and everyone more than likely trying to power level their stats, and escape this game he felt that maybe it'd be nice just to slow down every once in a while. "Even just for a little bit." he said out loud in response to his thoughts.

Once the sun had completely set and darkness had overtaken the lands, Gorou sat up on the bench and looked into the satchel that held all his materials. He double checked them all to make sure he hadn't miscounted them earlier. Some berries, an herb, and a hard stone jumbled around in this satchel as he shook it. "That's five..." Gorou counted mentally. He then opened up his virtual inventory as well, and grasped the sturdy stick he gathered first on this journey. "This is six... I thought I gathered seven materials?" he asked himself before remembering that he put the last one somewhere else.

"Ah, right." he nodded, and took the white flower that rested on his belt by the stalk. Gorou twirled the stick in his left hand absently as he brought the flower closer to examine it again. Since he didn't have anything to compare it to, Gorou didn't know if today was a good day for gathering. He felt like he had done a good job, however and decided to call it a day, that is until a terrible noise was heard. The grumbling in his stomach had returned, causing him to visibly wince. "Crap..." he groaned, clinching his midsection.

"Wish there was something to eat." he muttered, wondering why there wasn't a good restaurant here at the dock. That would really be the only thing that would make this quiet corner of Floor 1 better. Gorou got up off the bench in a huff and greatly considered taking cooking as a profession here, just so he wouldn't have to deal with this idiotic virtual hunger.

"Why don't I?" he asked himself considering his circumstances. He found an abandoned place with great scenery, and many gathering points in the forest nearby so he'd never hurt for things to cook up. Even if he didn't get many customers out here, he'd greatly appreciate having things to eat for himself on the fly. "Come tomorrow, I'm definitely taking that profession." he said with some determination as he got up and took off to Starting City.
