(PP-F10) Nightmares (Zero)

Neka wandered around the safe zone on the tenth floor, her hand gripping her little Kopesh, the Egyptian curved sword that she had chosen when she had originally entered the game. Her other hand brushed through her hair, right in between the little cat ears she had. She had gotten a potion specially made t give her cat ears and a tail, and she had been completely satisfied with what she had received. Now that she had these cat ears, she was confident that she could make her way out into the dangerous wilds of the cavern that was the tenth floor, as a level one. She wasnt a wimp who started on the first floor, she was a courageous catgirl! She marched out into the wilds. Within moments, a giant skeleton crawled out of the ground in front of her. Over come with fear, she fell over backwards and scrambled away.

Another venture out of the fifth floor had taken Zero all the way to the tenth floor, the excursion being centered on getting his hands on extra funds for the house he was hoping to buy soon. The young man had no plans of getting side-tracked like he had been as of late and immediately set out, making his way through the cavern floor's environment. He walked for a while before hearing what sounded like a mob getting ready to attack and ran towards the sound's point of origin. The sight of the skeleton was soon replaced by that of what it was trying to attack, a small girl who seemed terrified out of her wits. Can't let that thing just kill her can I? He sighed slightly annoyed that he bothered asking himself and pulled out Three Great Beast's Behemoth blade, his feet already guiding him to dash at the skeleton from behind.

The blade became consumed by a flame that seemed to be made out of darkness itself. He leapt over the skeleton as it turned its head towards him, hid body consumed by the flames before crashing down and slicing through the monster. The skeleton managed to slip an attack of its own through, slashing his side, and crumbled into polygons. The platinum haired boy sighed as he sheathed his sword, the black flames banishing from his body, and turned to the fallen young girl, extending his hand out to her. "Are you alright? It seems that thing caught you off guard, I guess for a beginner it was probably a terrifying thing to witness."

Neka opened her eyes to see a white haired man. Was that Machiavelli? She had always wanted to meet him when she died... As she became more aware of her surroundings she realized that she wasnt, in fact, dead, and that the man in front of her must have saved her from the skeleton creature. She ignored his hand as he asked her if she was alright, instead leaping up and grabbing him around the waist, sobbing and nuzzling him. She was terrified and scared, and now that she realized that she wasnt dead what had happened was still so clear in her mind. She couldnt believe how easily she had been broken.

A sense of surprise came over Zero when he felt the girl suddenly hug his waist, her sobbing and nuzzling making the young man feel slightly embarrassed. He looked at her for a few seconds before gently petting her head in an attempt to calm her down. "It's okay, I got rid of that thing. No need to be afraid." He gave her a slight smile and kneeled down so he could look at her better. His hand carefully pushed his platinum hair back as he gazed at the young girl before him, noticing her cat ears and tail. "You should be a little more careful though, it'd be a shame if a cute girl like you were to die." He playfully teased her so the situation would ease and she could feel better, though he did believe his statement on it being a shame to let beauty get wasted and felt maybe taking advantage of the situation was a smart move. "What's your name, luv? Mine's Zero, though you can call me anything you like if you prefer."

Neka sniffled, feeling much better as the man started to pet her, his hand brushing over her ears. She shivered and blushed a little bit, hugging him a bit more tightly. She slowly released her grip from around him and stepped back, wiping a tear from her eye with one of her fingers. "I-i'm Neka...." She sniffled again. "Th-thank you for saving me Machi-chan." She said, giving him a nickname pertaining to Machiavelli, as that was the first thing she had thought of when she saw him.

"My pleasure to be of service, Neka. It is a delight to be acquainted with you." The young man smiled at the girl's glass like fragility and gently placed his hand on her head, kneeling down to meet her eye level. "So what's a young lady like yourself doing out here on your own? Shouldn't you be with an adult, your parents or older siblings maybe?" His smile grew more gentle from hearing how the girl addressed him. He gently pat her head and stood up straight, stretching his back. "If you got lost I'll happily take you to wherever it is you're supposed to be. I'll be imouto's personal knight and escort for today, if that's okay with you that is." The platinum haired young man gave her a thumbs and grinned.

Neka sniffled one last time and wiped her eyes, slowly smiling as the man kneeled and placed a hand comfortingly on her head. "I-I-i'm e-eight-" She stuttered, not being able to complete the word all the way. She had meant to say eighteen, but had ended up only saying eight. It wasn't a big deal though. As the man said that he would be her knight and escort for the  day, she smiled happily and gave him a big hug, nuzzling her head into his chest. So there were nice people in SAO after all.
