Samriel 0 Posted April 2, 2016 #21 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Samriel's head tilted in vague surprise at Mack's explanation of what was traded to this 'Takao' who was supplying 'free' food. She was about to inquire as to why he would agree to such terms (even though she herself would do it in a heartbeat), but as he continued to speak, a wide grin spread across her face once more before letting out a delighted laugh as he held up his hands which were sorely lacking for any sort of ring. Her laughter died down to chuckles as she smiled a bit warmer towards the blacksmith as she replied with a wink, "Definitely things to keep in mind~" Standing back as she watched Mack help his vampiric brother with a hug oddly enough, the blonde's lavender eyes bulged at the display of musculature Mack gave as he literally hugged the bag to death. A sharp laugh of pure disbelief escaped Samriel as a hand hovered over her mouth, eyes still wide in incredulity. "Mierda, that....that just happened." She felt like she should have been at least a little annoyed about the 'KS', but considering how hard they were laughing and how much it was causing them to miss, accompanied with the fact that Mack seemed to want them to speed through quests today...she let the matter go easily. Shaking her head, the healer glanced sideways at Magda as she made a wise crack that caused Sam to chuckle again before becoming a little solemn along with her Shield Sister's expression as she explained that this was why they don't have brothers. "He's big enough for three at least, so at least there's that." Gesturing to her twin with her hammer before grinning along with the redhead. Smiling at the twins as they lead the way further into the cave, the healer followed closely behind them. A moment later a somewhat disturbing thought occurred to the blonde, causing her to frown as she asked with concern, "Hey, it's just an NPC kid that we're saving...right?" She'd like to think that if something happened at the 'orphanage' (she really needed to have them give it a better name), that someone would message her about it.
Mack 0 Posted April 2, 2016 Author #22 Share Posted April 2, 2016 ID: 54791 LD: 17 (+1 Mat) "Well, sister dearest, sometimes you just have to wing it," Mack replied in a deadpan tone, not even missing a beat as Magda made a pun. "And yes, that did just happen. When the game engine drops a gift like that in your lap you've got to take it and fly" the red headed behemoth continued, clearly enjoying the fact that their blonde companion was suitably impressed with the epic display of pure power in ripping the digital bat limb from limb. Then she asked a question about the quest itself and Mack turned to face the hammer wielding blonde, walking backwards as he talked. "Yes, it's just an NPC kid and it's also an immortal object," Mack said, explaining the child to Samriel. The truth was that no matter how had the bats tried to kill the kid, and no doubt they would, they couldn't so much as scratch it since it was both an NPC and an immortal object given that it was tied into one of the early quests in the game. "There's absolutely no need to worry about anything bad happening to the kid, it literally can't." As he was walking and talking the lumbering lumberjack backed right into a low hanging stalactite. "Ow," Mack rumbled as the tip of the stone formation broke off and dropped into his hands. Puzzled, the burly blacksmith tapped the stone with his finger and then groaned. Of course, it was a crafting material. Why not? "You've got to be joking..."
Magda 0 Posted April 2, 2016 #23 Share Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) Magda couldn’t argue her logic. Mack was certainly big enough for three siblings and he had the tenacity to boot. The redhead laughed as she rubbed the back of her neck. “If you think he’s large you should see our father.” With her hammer resting against her right shoulder Magda followed her two companions deeper into the cave. Magda giggled as her brother kept making puns. She was too busy laughing to really come up with a witty retort. So she just continued to walk. She felt rather excited about the adventurous atmosphere this entire quest presented. “And so the three heroes plunged deep into the dark dungeon in hopes of rescuing the wayward youth before the vile rodents drained him dry.” The urge to narrate their adventure quickly took her up as she felt rather amused with it all. She was about to smile at Samriel but as she turned to look at her there was a frown on her face and a look of concern was etched into her expression. Magda was about to see if she was alright but the blonde asked a question which revealed what worried her so. Sudden realization that she just assumed this boy would be an NPC picked at her like an incessant itch that she just couldn’t reach. In order to conceal her lack of foresight the redhead remained silent on the matter and simply listened to Mack. When her brother revealed that the boy was in fact an NPC and could come to no harm her worry was washed away by the relief she felt. Taking a quick step forward she clapped Samriel on the back and said, “See? We’ve got nothing to worry about. Kill another bat, get the kid, and be back in time for…” Her voice trailed off as she suddenly remembered they were going to head to a different floor after this quest had been completed. “Well we'll be off to another floor once we’ve won the day.” Magda grinned and fell back a few paces and matched the group’s pace. The thump of Mack’s head hitting a low handing stalactite caused Magda to laugh and point at her brother, “Oh no! Samriel hurry! He might need your healing touch!” She tried to stifle another laugh as something fell into his hand and he expressed his disbelief. “What is it,” she asked with piqued interest. Samriel 0 Posted April 5, 2016 #24 Share Posted April 5, 2016 At Magda's comment about their father, Samriel's eyes grew wide and round as she surveyed her twin's back as he walked. "I...I literally can't even." She replied quietly back, wondering what their mother looked like, or rather what size she was. All that was coming to mind was a rather incredible faceless figure of a female wrestler. ...Or simply an older version of Magda herself. Even with her face aching from their persistent laughter, the blonde still couldn't help but smile at his puns, shaking her head without comment as her arm swung slightly with heavy hammer in hand. She kept her left arm crooked, not wanting to let her guard completely down since they still expected a second bat. But when Mack multi-tasked, walking backwards and answering her question, the healer couldn't help but feel genuinely relieved though she replied casually, "Cool. Just for the record, I totally would be able to heal him if he could take damage. Everybody always loves a support during escort quests." Coughing slight at the hearty clap on the back that Magda gave her, Sam smiled at the return of her exuberance before nearly tripping on a rock she hadn't seen due to the dim lighting. "Sounds-whoa. Sounds like a plan. I wonder if the kid is going to turn into a mini boss? Vampire kids are a popular motif. And effectively creepy." Now that she had been reassured that the kid was only an NPC, she was back to being a curious gamer and thinking like one as well. Blinking as she heard a 'crack' just before something fell into Mack's hands, she laughed lightly as she realized what happens. "Damn tall people always get the good stuff..." When his twin suggested jokingly that he needed healing, she simply retorted to the woman in similar jesting manner, "Psssshh, like he wouldn't just regen it on his own in like two seconds anyways. I'll heal him if he gives me that mat that just literally fell into his lap. Wai-D'you guys hear that?"
Mack 0 Posted April 5, 2016 Author #25 Share Posted April 5, 2016 ID: 55241 BD: 2 (3-1) MD: 4 "I do hear that," Mack said, agreeing with Samriel and deciding that it probably was best not to mention that he thought the blonde's odds of healing him after he smacked his head on the stalactite would be infinitely better if she was wearing her bathing suit. "Means we're getting close to the next giant bat, so you might want to hurry up and scarf down the rest of that loaf of bread, unless you want the bat to steal it from you again." Mack yawned loudly, not feeling as if he should really be overly bothered by the bats, and led the group into a medium-sized cavern where, sure enough, there was a giant bat fluttering around near the roof of the cave. "Well, ladies, he's all yours."
Magda 0 Posted April 5, 2016 #26 Share Posted April 5, 2016 (edited) Magda couldn’t help but grin as she saw just how large Samriel’s eyes grew after her comment about their father. She leaned in and held up one of her hands to conceal her lips from her brother so she could whisper near Samriel’s ear. “The truth is,” she said as she tried to draw the blonde in closer. “We’re actually descended from a clan of giants. Our uncle is over eight feet tall.” Magda stepped back and winked at her Shield Sister. It wasn't immediately clear if she was completely joking or not. She was content to leave it at that but Samriel threw out the idea that the boy might turn into a mini boss of the nocturnal variety. She went completely still for a moment. Her face remained turned away from Samriel for a few moments but Magda slowly turned to face her. The look in her eyes expressed the sudden excitement she felt. “Really? Now that’d be awesome!” She turned and rested her hammer against her shoulder. “Right! Onward,” she proclaimed in a boisterous tone while she pointed with her hammer down the passage. With a spring in her step she set off. She only slowed when Samriel asked if they heard anything. Magda turned her head to angle her ear towards the direction they were headed. Mack agreed that he heard something as well and said that they were close to the next bat. It wasn't long before they emerged into a larger cavern. When her brother spoke the magic words Magda grinned madly as she stepped forward and held her hammer low while a crimson light radiated along its surface. "Alright you rodent! Come get me," she shouted. "There you are," she boldly declared. Magda charged forward. The instant she came within range her hammer flashed up and slammed it against the side of the bat's head with a crimson trail of light left in its wake. The force of the blow sent the bat reeling to the left and her hammer swept up over her head. When it passed around her back she let it dip towards the ground only to bring it back up into the side of the bat's head again. With the second impact the Sword Art was complete and the crimson glow started to fade. In the fading light of her sword art shadows were cast over Magda's face as she grinned at the bat. Samriel 0 Posted April 6, 2016 #27 Share Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) An amused yet skeptical expression passed over Samriel's expression at Magda's farfetched statement before she bit her bottom lip, a chuckle escaping regardless. "I'm gonna take that with a grain of salt otherwise I'll have to reignite the war between our two peoples." She left just who 'her people' were to her Shield Sister's imagination. Blinking blankly at Mack's suggestion that she finish the bread he'd given her before another bat tried to steal it, she tried to remember what had happened to it! He'd thrown it back to her after grabbing it back from the bat...and she caught it in her mouth. Then she attacked the bat... And then Mack had nearly made them die from laughter. It'd fallen out somewhere... Patting her form, Samriel glanced around and saw that it had wedged itself into a nook of her shield. "Aha." Retrieving the morsel with minor triumph, the blonde took two large bites, finishing it off with enlarged cheeks as she chewed. The dim light from Mack's gauntlets showed that the somewhat narrow tunnel's walls fell away to reveal that they had entered a larger part of 'cave'. Craning her neck back as she squinted up at the cavern's ceiling, she saw telltale flapping motions and readied her hammer while she brought her shield higher before banging gem against gem to further catch the flying rodent's attention as Magda yelled at it. Swallowing her mouthful of dry bread, Samriel watched with increased excitement as the woman's sword art lit up her features. It was quite the scene. Coming back to life at the call of her name, the blonde nodded, "You got it!" Grip on her war hammer tightening, the young woman turned to follow the somewhat dazed bat. "Heeeere battah battah battah," She cajoled before her expression turned aggressive as she lurched forward, "Swi-Frick!" Just as she was about to rush it and swing, Sam tripped over her own feet and ended up on her side, wincing in instinct though it didn't hurt obviously. This was why it was a good idea to spend those early skill points on buying a weapon skill, though the ginger giant wisely chose to hold his tongue. "You should tell her about Strognir," the blacksmith called to his sister, even as Samriel's cheeks remained ridiculously poofed out from what remained of her bread having been crammed into her mouth. She looked a bit like a chipmunk, but it was endearing. It was also time for the axe man to draw aggro on the bat. "I assume by your people you mean the poofy cheeked chipmunk people of the Northern Alps," Mack called as he charged past Samriel, easily leaping her fallen body and making a simple overhanded chopping motion with his axe. The weapon slammed into the bat's skull and, momentarily, drove the animal down to the ground and pinned it before the bearded blacksmith drew the weapon back and allowed the bat to rise screeching into the air once again. Magda 0 Posted April 8, 2016 #29 Share Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) “Oh, a rival clan is it,” she said with the best Scottish accent she could muster. She continued to grin while she readied her hammer for her next attack. Mack suggested that she should tell Samriel about Strognir and Magda just rolled her eyes. “Oh no, not him! He actually makes me look normal,” she said with a slight shudder. It was a scary thought and Magda wouldn't deny it. She focused back on the bat but was further distracted when Samriel suddenly tripped during her attack. Magda let out a soft chuckle as she lowered her hammer and stood up straight. Mack commented on who he thought Samriel’s people were and it incited a boisterous laugh from his twin sister. She only managed to regain her composure after Mack had attacked the bad. Her hammer was twirled once before she prepared to attack. “Shield Sister! Watch this! I’m going to finish him off with one swing,” she shouted and charged forward. Crimson light danced along her weapon and briefly illuminated her expression again. Despite her boast the bat would continue to live. While she ran forward her foot found a small stalagmite. The unexpected obstruction sent her reeling forward. She managed to utter a quick curse before her she fell over like a tree and collided with the floor face first. “Ugh.” The redhead blushed in embarrassment for the first time ever while she remained prone on the ground. Samriel 0 Posted April 9, 2016 #30 Share Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) Mouth still full of bread, Samriel could only look questioningly at Magda when her twin suggested she tell her about 'Strognir', who apparently made the amazonian woman look normal. The blonde literally couldn't comprehend a person that huge. That was real at least. Starting to get up from her fall, the healer then pressed back down when she heard Mack running up behind her. Glaring heavily at what he said, she swallowed thickly with a gasp before protesting as she awkwardly got to her feet, "Oy, we have numbers on our side! We'll overrun you giants!" She pointed to the twins both as Mack knocked the bat to the ground with a powerful downward swing of his axe. Looking back to Magda as she called for her Shield Sister's attention before boasting that she would finish their enemy off...and promptly falling right on her face. A laugh crept up her throat but before more than a cough could escape, Sam clamped her mouth shut and rushed to the other woman's side. She stood in front of her, ensuring that the bat would have to go through her to get to the red head behind her as she urged encouragingly over her shoulder, "I've got your back, figuratively. C'mon, back on your feet. Can't lay about all day." Bracing herself as the bat flapped over towards them, the healer decided that offense was the best defense and tried to copy what she had seen her friend do before. Dawnbreaker glimmered from the dim light of Mack's gauntlets that refracted on the gemstones inlaid into the bevel as she pulled the hammer back before swinging it upwards at the approaching bat, right into its' face and knocking it away. "You won't get past me!!" Samriel declared forcefully, her expression the picture of determination that was a bit much considering their opponent. Its source, clearly, was her twin brother. "Well, you were half right," the gigantic blacksmith allowed, planting Invictus on the floor of the cave and placing his forearms atop the dull part of the bladed axe head, the part that was never really used for attacking. "But, I think you're more likely to slay the beast with laughter if the best sword skill you have is slapstick comedy," the soldier continued, even as the bat flapped screeching over to Mack and perched on his shoulder. With a perfectly insane battle cry, the rodent sank its fangs into his neck. "No means no," the ginger man remarked placidly, reaching up and flicking the bat on the nose with his index finger. The animal went cross-eyed for a moment before taking to the skies once more."Also, Magda you heard it too... she just admitted to being cute and cuddly, everyone knows the chipmunks exist for only one reason, to be nature's cute and cuddly mascot." Magda 0 Posted April 13, 2016 #32 Share Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) The joke Samriel offered about her people, the squirrels, overrunning the giants definitely didn’t help matters right before Magda tripped which provided her face with a close encounter with the ground. She wanted to lay there for a moment when she heard someone start clapping and she figured that there was only one person here that would clap like that at her expense. Magda fully expected Samriel to laugh too but the woman was by her side only to encourage her to get back on her feet. The blonde even managed to score a hit which caused a grin to return to Magda’s face. Mack taunted her with a bit of wordplay but she quickly sat up and rubbed her nose. There was a wide grin on her face before she finally chuckled. “That she most definitely did,” she answered to confirm that Samriel had confirmed she was cute and cuddly. “Though for squirrels to take on us giants they’d have to be absolutely nuts.” The redhead gave her shield sister a quick grin before she stood up and charged after the bat once more. Crimson light flowed from the end of her hammer and left a small trail in its wake. Now that she had fully recovered from her blunder the fiery redhead felt invigorated. With every step that took her closer to the bat her grin continued to grow wider. The instant she came into range her hammer swept out and slammed into the side of the bat's head not once but twice in rapid succession. When the light started to fade from her weapon the redhead pumped her fist into the air while keeping her hammer secured in her right. "Yeah!" Even though her victory was a little premature since the bat wasn't down yet she still felt elated at her success. Samriel 0 Posted April 15, 2016 #33 Share Posted April 15, 2016 (edited) Shaking her head in amusement as the bat tried to attack the biggest threat in the room to absolutely no avail, Samriel wondered if it would literally kill itself trying to attack Mack. But the man flicked it away, seemingly more interested in poking fun at her than helping finish the monster. Sighing with exasperation at his statement and then gaping as Magda only got behind him, the blonde pointed at the two with her hammer, "No fair ganging up on me! And we are squirrels, not chipmunks. And we are not nature's cute and cuddly mascot! We are fierce warriors of the forest!" When her Shield Sister made the fatal statement though, Sam's mouth opened in shocked disgust before groaning and hiding her head behind her shield. "I think I just took damage from that pun." Peeking out from behind her shield when she saw light filling up the cave briefly, the hammer wielder just barely caught Magda's last hit with a slight smile as she fist pumped into the air in achievement. "Nearly there." Sam declared as she rushed the bat, pulling her hammer back for a blow before tripping once more with a muffled curse, this time managing to catch herself into a kneel instead of sprawled out on the floor. "You'd have to be pretty hammered to not recognize the snuggly nature of squirrels." While he was speaking, the blonde woman launched her next assault on the flying mammal only to miss and catch herself on her knees on the floor of the cave, but at least Sam hadn't face planted like Magda had. "See, sister dearest, Sam even has the agility of a squirrel. She's not eating gravel, you did." The bat, for it's part, decided that discretion was somehow not the better part of valor. With a piercing screech, the animal dive bombed the largest target in the area, yet again. Somehow, the bat managed to get itself enmeshed in Mack's ginger locks and it began to thrash around in an effort to free itself, causing a minimal amount of damage to the axe man's health bar. Sighing, Mack reached up and wrapped his hands around the bat before jerking it free. "I warned him, you all heard it," he said in an easy tone then, shrugging his shoulders, he pivoted neatly and swung the bat by one of its wings into the cave's wall. With an angry screech, the creature managed to right itself and retreat away from the gigantic man once again.
Samriel 0 Posted March 16, 2017 #35 Share Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) Groaning once more at Mack's terrible puns, Samriel brandished Dawnbreaker at him and threatened halfheartedly, "I'm gonna bust yer nut with my hammer if you don't quit it with the puns." Unsteadily getting to her feet as he admonished his twin for faceplanting. "Don't listen to him Mags, the ground's just really unsteady." Which wasn't really true (at least she wasn't positive) but she was trying to save face and act like she wasn't getting inwardly increasingly annoyed at her lack of balance. While she was gathering her thoughts, their opponent seemed to think it was a great idea to bull rush the most menacing person in the room...and then get stuck in his head and beard hair. It almost would've been funny if she wasn't being annoyed on behalf of the man. She couldn't really recall his earlier warning to the bat, but certainly wasn't protesting the help...out loud at least. Literally leaping at the opportunity presented, Samriel brandished her hammer high above her head to swing down at the flying rodent. And of freaking course she missed, not even coming close as the bat even managed to dodge her attack with a bum wing. Letting out a yell of utter frustration and anger before giving a swift kick to nothing...which turned out to be a wall. A very solid one at that. Releasing a stream of curses in Spanish and English, the blonde tried sucking in a deep breath and holding it, a murderous glare on her expression as she stared at the bane of her current existence. "Not the baby-maker, I need that for joy and happiness," he called, trying to look both worried and affronted and probably failing spectacularly at it. "I'd be more worried if I didn't know that squirrels were interested in cracking a different kind of nut," the towering axe man continued as the bat flapped noisily around the dim room. After Samriel took a swing at the gigantic mammal and missed Mack flicked out a fist, almost lazily, and caught the bat squarely in the midsection. It exploded in a shower of blue pixel confetti just in time for the blonde woman's angry cursing to be easily heard. "Ah, the vulgar cries to the dreaded Western European Blonde Headed Rock Squirrel," the soldier commented, opining openly in a clear tone as Samriel's cursing continued to fill the air. "You're no longer stuck between a rock and a hard place. Samriel 0 Posted March 16, 2017 #37 Share Posted March 16, 2017 (edited) Samriel started slightly at the clatter of the gigantic weapon upon the ground but then looked at Mack with a highly unimpressed expression. "You'd live." Between her colorful cursing, she heard the telltale shatter of a monster's death, causing her to whirl around, stumbling slightly when her own feet got crossed, but she used the wall to catch as she saw the bat's pixelated remains crumble around Mack's fist. Lavender eyes wide at the ease at which he dispatched the enemy that she'd been trying her best for however long they'd been stuck here for, the shield-woman couldn't help but feel the itch of annoyance. She wasn't even competent enough to take care of one stupid low level monster on her own. So when the red headed man tried to make light of her frustration, all Samriel could do was barely hold her tongue as she glared at the man before agreeing with his more sensible suggestion. "Fine." Whirling around, the blonde momentarily glanced into a wall due to the poor lighting before righting her tragectory. A fork was reached in the cave, causing her to pause before turning left down the more narrow path. Eventually she had to get down on her hands and knees to reach the place where the child was hiding. It was a little boy with straight brown hair, tears running down his chubby little cheeks. Samriel felt a tug on her heart momentarily before the reality that this was just an NPC created by a sick sadistic man with a god complex came crashing down upon her, causing a grimace. Sighing, the healer held out a hand, which apparently activated the NPC somehow as he then looked up with a gasp. "C'mon kid. Let's get you to your mom. Or dad. Or whatever." She couldn't really remember the specifics of the end of the quest now. All she knew was that she felt cramped and smothered in this cave right now. Leading the little boy out of the narrow passage where Mack and Magda were waiting, Samriel brushed past them, hand in hand with the NPC as she lead the way towards the end quest point. The NPC mother tearfully accepted her child back, thanking them all profusely. Once the window popped up announcing that she and Magda had completed the quest and received their rewards and experience, Samriel quickly exited it before looking away from the twins. "I'm gonna get some air, take a run maybe." Hesitating, she then forced the words out, "Thanks for the help. I'll see you guys later." She then took off running just as she said she was going to do, miraculously without tripping.
