Within the castle like walls of Nimbus, the world is a dull grey monotone with hints of green shading about the edges. The large crystal formations that burn with an inner fire form the main source of light within the mountain that Nimbus is built. Each building is similar in many ways to one another, all made of stone, some more intricately carved, others plane and smooth, some tall and thin, others wide and fat, and many other variations in between mark the city as being one that relies on self provided resources and trade with other floors. The city safezone provides a home for players who are adventuring and working towards being front liners, and a base for those brave enough to venture higher and scout the floors.

Amongst a small row of shops and industrial buildings on the outskirts of the Nimbus, a 2 level building made of smooth grey stone looks remarkably like all the others, but it is this building that has the newest occupant of the city. A small stone plinth sits just beside the door to it's left and in it the shops name is chiseled in raised stone lettering. 'The Cracked Crucible' flows in a block script and is polished smooth to show well in the greenish hues to any looking at it. Within, many racks and shelves line the walls and sit upon stone block platforms here and there about the shop. Most are fairly empty as the shop just opened recently, but as each day passes, new items begin to fill each rack and shelf.

Just behind the counter a large open doorway is cut into the grey stone and leads into the blacksmiths forge. Within, the stoked forge roars and crackles as it burns through coal and wood kindling, its deep brass red coloring letting all who see it know that it's heat is extreme. A large anvil sits upon a stone block, bringing it to around 4 feet high, and resting in a bound leather skirt about the block are the many different tools of the blacksmith. A small stock of material sits along one wall organized into neat rows with small gaps between each row of materials. A large trough sits a mere foot away from the forge and then anvil, creating a perfect triangle pattern that the blacksmith walks when working on items. Along the farthest wall, a chute of coal and a stack of wood kindling sits near one corner, and just opposite them, a table with various crucibles, strange powders, gems and filaments, and other materials sit spread along it's length.

The owner of this new shop can often be found working material on the anvil and crafting new items, or adjusting the shelves and racks to make the best use of the room he has. When not there, the shop is locked and a small wooden plank with the words "Hunting for materials" is hung from the doors handle. Being fairly new, it is known that the shop will see little to no foot traffic for some time and that will hamper most word of mouth sales as well, but the new blacksmith knows that as each new day brings the front lines to a new floor, more and more players will need equipment, and that means more and more shop owners will be needed to fill large orders of good quality items. Nikodemus, owner and blacksmith, knows one day he will be called upon by players for help, and when that day comes, he wants to be prepared.

Custom orders:

Custom orders are subject to special pricing outside of normal rates. The reason for this is simple. It can take time to get the quality asked for as rolls are random, and it can take material to create, and I may have already used my # of crafts for the day when order is placed.. For this reason, if a customer order is wanted, please PM ME FIRST and we can work on price and details. Custom orders can take some time to fill. Please be patient.

For custom orders, please PM me with the general info (item type, quality, enhancements/how many per slot, etc) and we can work out the price. I am not adverse to bartering if the pricing is reasonable. (IE: Do not ask for a Perfect quality T2 item for 500 col or 5 mats... Rule of thumb, do not go below HALF the price I normally ask for. You will be denied.)

ORDER FORM: Fill this out for any custom order and post it IC in the thread.

"Why thank you so much Ratatosk." Taking the materials and placing them in there respective places, Nikodemus then returns to the main counter with a smile. "Thank you once again for the materials Ratatosk. If you need anything, please feel free to ask. I am always happy to lend my skills to you."

Waking up from a nap, Nikodemus decided to start off by crafting some items. Ratatosk had brought him some materials to resupply his dwindling stocks, and he was greatful for that. Going into his forge, he began to work. His first attempt at forging something turned into a lump of warped useless steel and he ended up discarding it as there was no possibility of salvaging anything from the failed attempt. His second attempt gave him a bit better results, but not enough. The item was a bad quality dagger. It's blade was too soft and would go dull and break after 1 or 2 uses in any real combat. There was once again little chance of anything to be salvaged, so he tossed the dagger onto the nearby table to be disposed of later with the other bad item he had made a couple days back.

With a sigh, Nikodemus decided to rest for a moment and collect his thoughts. Brushing his hand across the the small Weyland Plushie he had gotten the other day, Nikodemus smiled and decided to give it one shot. Returning to the forge, Nikodemus took up his hammer and began to work on a new item. After working on the new item, he smiled as it came out perfect. Taking it to the finishing table, Nikodemus engraved it and worked in some precious stones and gold filigree. Satisfied with the item, he then wrapped it in a silk cloth and took it to be evaluated.

Having been out and about, Nikodemus had returned from slaying a Dark Elf and decided to do some crafting the next morning. He went into his forge and began working hard. The first item to come out was terrible. He tossed it without care. The second was a bad iron item, so he salvaged what he could and moved onto the next item. Forging out a good 2-handed War Axe, Nikodemus smiled and set it aside with the other basic items he had made to be placed in his shop. His last forge attempt produced a perfect set of Heavy armor. This was his best set yet, and would be his own personal one. Setting it with runes made from powdered crystals found in Nimbus, it gave the etchings an eerie green glow. He then wrapped them up and took the off to be evaluated.

Needing to get some work done for the day, Nikodemus went into his forge and began to work at crafting some new items. His first 2 attempts failed spectacularly and he was unable to salvage any materials from the now solidified lumps of metal slag. With a sigh, he hurled the chunks into a refuse chute, which would be emptied later that day into a nearby hole that lead deep into the mountains depths. Returning to his work, Nikodemus then forged a nice Kite Shield made of steel. The quality was good, but he wasn't able to do much with it. He would set it aside as a starter item, and would offer an engraving on free of charge if someone wanted to personalize it later. He went and set it onto the counter to be wrapped and taken for evaluations later.

Returning to his forge for the last attempt of the day, Nikodemus decided to craft another sheild using some of the left over materials he had gotten from slaying a Dark Elf recently. The dragon scales would provide a unique look and hardness to the shield. Working it out into a nice, long tower shield, he was happy with the look and perfection of it upon completing it. The scales were inlaid into the steel and it was raised to create a nice snug fit to them. Wrapping the newest batch of items, Nikodemus left for evaluations.

Wandering into his shop after a long weekend, Nikodemus smiled and decided to get to work. Walking into his forge, Nikodemus lifted a few pieces of his dwindling materials pile and went to the forge. Working on the first one, Nikodemus felt the metal slip occasionally and realized he was striking it at the wrong angle. With a sigh, he looked at the piece and realized it was going to come out bad. Not wanting to let it go to waste, Nikodemus worked it as best he could into a simple dagger, but it would be relegated to the same bin as the others of it's quality. His next 2 attempts went better for him. He first forged a nice pair of gauntlets that were of a good quality and would suit any starting player. The second item he forged was a one handed assault spear. He forged the blade of the spear into a nice length and then sharpened it before attaching it to a wooden haft made of Ebony Ironwood. It too was of a good quality.

His 4th attempt was a step above the rest, and he smiled as he worked the material. It was one he hadn't attempted to use yet. The material was a Silver Ivory, and when shaped right it looked like it glowed even in the darkness. Shaping it into a pair of heavy armored greaves, Nikodemus worked hard to make it just right. Seeing a way to raise the material into an image, he did so, raising the metal along the front and down the sides of the legs. Nikodemus took it to the finishing bench, and etched in the finer details, and then engraved swirls and lines along the legs of the armor. Happy with the end result, Nikodemus set it aside with the others and then went to his forge one last time.

Taking the final material he selected, Nikodemus worked the item on his anvil for a good while, taking great care that the shape stayed true and straight, the material never wavering below it's optimal temperature. After working for nearly an hour, Nikodemus stepped back and let out a breath of relief. His newest item, a Two Handed Straight Sword, was done. It's long blade was wide and long, it's length etched with glowing runes made of powdered crystals he had access to in Nimbus. The blade was a perfect item and Nikodemus was happy he had crafted it.

Taking the items, He wrapped them all and left his shop for evaluation.

Having returned from completing a quest and getting some new materials, Nikodemus went to work forging new items. After working for a bit, he realized he had screwed the first item up and made a bad item. Thankfully he was able to salvage the materials and reforge it into something new. Working for even longer, he finished with a steel great helmet. Setting it aside, he resumed working on a new item. After working the material, he decided on a pair of gauntlets. Finishing them he was happy with the spiked knuckles and how they looked. The next item he made was a Katana. The blade was of a fine make and would stand up against many opponents. The blade, menuki, handle, tsuba, and scabbard were all well made and beautiful. Sheathing the blade into the scabbard and set it with the other items.

Lastly, Nikodemus turned and began to forge himself a new war axe. Working Ebony Steel with some of the powdered crystals, Nikodemus forged a brute of a weapon. The black blade was etched with many of the glowing green runes, and they stretched down the handle as well. The ornamentation was not too ostentatious, nor was it lacking either. The weapon would be balanced perfectly, sharp, and lethal to enemies. Finishing the weapon, Nikodemus took it and the others for Evaluation.

Waking up for the day, Nikodemus decided to do some smithing first before leaving. Stoking the forge, Nikodemus went to work and forged out a billet. After working the item for a time, he realized the forge wasn't at optimal head and the billet had become useless iron with many impurities in it. Tossing it aside, Nikodemus grabbed a new set of materials and began forging it. Working it, he made a good quality dagger and forged it to shape to be a well versed pairing dagger. His next attempt at forging wasn't so good. He forged a billet for a bit and realized it was mainly iron. Working it as best as he could, he eventually had a warhammer on his hands. Something to be tossed with the others.

His next item came out well. He created a nice pliable material and then wound and braided it in a supple material, creating a bull whip. The handle he made to accommodate varying grips for different strikes and cracks of the whip. His last attempt came out best of all. He worked a piece of strange material he had into a helmet. The nasal guard visor was curved slightly and looked like a menacing ice cutter blade he saw ships attach to their hulls during winter. The material cooled to an ash colored grey with hints of black steel beneath it. Taking it to the finishing bench, Nikodemus riveted some fur lined leather to the neck, and then attached a sash plume to the top. Looking at the finished helmet, Nikodemus swore he could see pulsing red veins of hot metal all around the helmet, but it was cool to the touch. Attributing it to the material, he smiled and was happy with the finished product. Taking the items, he left for evaluation and locked his shop.

Khrysaor just teleported from The Town Of Beginnings on the 1st floor to the 7th. He looked around the floor in curiosity, this being his first time stepping foot on the seventh floor. His first thought was, 'This place looks to dull for my tastes. I like the floor I set up shop, really it was an exciting day because I have just opened up shop today, and I am going to get a awesome set of Heavy Armor today. Finally, the deal has been finalized and the owner of The Cracked Crucible, I think it was Nikodemus, said I could come in today to buy it off his store.'

He walked down the stone pathway until he came upon the blacksmith's store he was looking for. It was 2 floors and looked pretty much exactly the same as the other buildings around it. It was made from grey stone, Khrysaor walked up to the door and opened it. A ringing of the bell can be heard signalling the front door opened. He looked inside and seeing all the display cases with awe. Some of the items truly looked fantastic and well-made. He hoped he could soon gain this type of experience to make items as well as these.

Khrysaor noticed Nikodemus was rearranging the armor on display and seemed to be unhooking a armor set. He looked at Nikodemus and said, "Hey, how are you doing, Nokodemus? My name is Khrysaor we been communicating through message about a set of heavy armor. It was The Cuirass of the Iron Wall, and we agreed on the price. 850 Col. and 2 Mats, right?"

Adjusting a few things here and there to make room for the next set of items that had just been approved, Nikodemus heard the door to the shop open. He was in the process of taking down a set of armor when he heard the young man speak. Turning to greet his customer, Nikodemus smiled politely and nodded. "Ah, Herr Khrysaor, Yes I am doing well. Call me Niko. Everyone else does. Cept Mack, he calls me Nutter. Anyways, yes I do recall the transaction. 850 Col and 2 mats was the deal for the armor <Cuirass of the Iron Wall> and I have it ready. Nice and polished up for you too. Lemme grab it."

With that, Nikodemus slid behind the counter and removed a large cloth wrapped item. Opening the cloth, he revealed <Cuirass of the Iron Wall>. The whole Cuirass was shaped to provoke images of wall protecting a village. The curved edges of the plates and spiked linings here and there showing off a more deadly side to it. "Here you go good sir. If you'll just accept the trade via the shop screen here--" Nikodemus opened a menu and then selected the shop screen and entered the armor through it so that Khrysoar could take ownership. "--and then exchange payment of course, then you will be the new owner of this fine armor."

'Nutter, well that is some nickname,' thought Khrysaor. He was trying to hold in his snicker, and was able to say with a straight face, "Ok, then Niko. You should call me Khry, my name is hard to pronounce so others have given me this name instead." Khrysaor took a glance at the armor and knew he made a good deal, the work was good condition. Shape looked perfect, and fine tuned, no roughness to it. He happily accepted the transaction of Col. and Mats. on the shop screen for the Heavy Armor. He saw little animated picture of Gold coins and ore like material transferring from himself to the shop on the shop screen, and in turn the armor coming from the shop to himself. After, the transaction was completed a pop-up signaled that the trade was compete.

<Cuirass of the Iron Wall> was in his inventory now. "Thank you, again. It is a good piece of armor and I will treasure it since it is my very first buy and armor." He put out his hand for Niko to shake. After, shaking hands and saying a last few parting words, Khrysaor walked to the door, but before he left, he said, "You should come up to Floor 8 and see my new shop I just opened it up today, its called The Shield and Sword Emporium. But don't know how much use it will be to you because I am a blacksmith, too. You are much better than me and more experienced. Still, if you want to hang out come on up and check it out. Bye, see you again sometime,, and thanks." With that Khrysaor left The Cracked Crucible.

After the transaction had happened, Nikodemus smiled and shook hands with the young man before him. "I will stop by. I enjoy seeing other smiths works and forges. Keeps my mind together." Bidding farewell, Nikodemus watched as Khrysaor left. He then returned to adjusting the racks and organizing things. Shortly after, He set the new materials he had gotten from the trade with the others in his forge and lined them all up in the correct piles.

Having spent most of his time out hunting materials yesterday, Nikodemus hadn't done any forging, so his forge's fire had cooled down a bit. Taking some coal and kindling, Nikodemus restoked the forge, using his right leg to pump the foot peddle of his bellows up and down, forcing air into the forge beneath the coals and kindling to make it burn at a greater heat. Repeating the process of adding coal and some kindling while stoking the forge with the bellows, Nikodemus waited for the almost white hot glow of coals to begin to show.

Once the coals were at the right temperature, Nikodemus took some material and begin to craft. The first items he forged were a steel shield and a steel warhammer of good quality. Next he worked a piece of material and forged a special rapier. The blade was much like a normal rapier, but had a slight thickness to it that allowed for both slicing cuts, and thrusting stabs. The hand guard was made from a modified longsword cross guard with a secondary ring guard on the opposite ends unprotected sides.

His next item was a unique dagger. He had used Ebony Steel to make the weapon black, but a property in the material turned the blade a golden hue. When forging it, Nikodemus forged a curve along the spine of the blade, making the edge into a wicker curve that would cut deeper. The handle itself mirrored the curve of the blade and gave the whole dagger a strange, exotic look. The last item he forged was a 2 handed spear. It's blade collar was made in the shape of a dragon, the blade protruding from the open mouth. The blade itself had a gentle curve along it's length until the last few inches were straight and tapered to a deadly point. The haft of the blade was a cherry wood, colored red and reinforced with Ironwood for sturdiness. Taking the items, he went to have them evaluated.

Deciding to get some work done, Nikodemus went into his forge and began to work. His first item was a fail, and he couldn't salvage anything from it. Grumbling, he tossed the lump of material away and then began on his next item. It turned out better, and he forged a nice pair of steel gauntlets. Setting them aside, he began his work on the third item, and drew out a nice axe. Working it to a decent size, Nikodemus then attached it to a wooden handle that was reinforced with a steel core.

His next item he began forging a full arm weapon. It started as a gauntlet, but then became a strange rounded tube with a rounded head where the hand gripped a handle inside. Coming from the head was a long thin blade. Working the blade, he strengthened it well and made sure it wouldn't snap off when clashing with armor or another weapon. He then engraved and etched the arm guard, and chased the etchings with gold and silver.

His last forging produced a large katana, nearly 6 feet in length. He used a combination of Ebony Steel and Ash-infused Steel to create the rusted look of the blade, but knew it was only a look and the blade was quite durable and sharp. He worked the blade to make it even sharper, and then finished the handle and tsuba, leaving both simple and etching in some swirls into the tsuba. Upon finishing, he took the items for approval.

Waking after a long night, Nikodemus shook the weariness from his limbs and stretched his large frame. Still groggy, Nikodemus stumbled into his forge and began to tinker around with forging some items. After waking up completely, he began to work in earnest. his first two attempts failed miserably, but he expected that as he had not stoked the forges properly, and the heat was not at the right temperature. Adjusting this by repeatedly stoking the forge with the bellows, Nikodemus then crafted a nice pair of greaves. His 4th attempt provided him with a rare dagger. His last two efforts provided a great cuirass of perfect design, and a pair of gauntlets that could split wood and stone with a few strikes. Smiling at his creations, he wrapped them all and took them for evaluation.

Deciding to do some work, Nikodemus began to forge once again. After some time, he had grunted with failure and tossed the failed bits of slag aside. Of the fails he had, only one was salvagable. From it he made a good boot dagger. His next item he made was a new hammer for forging. He like it's shape and look so finished it without much more forging. His last item was a fine Tulwar sword. After forging the blade, he took time to etch gold gilding along the blade and handle, as well as add fine jewels to it. Once it was finished, he took both to be evaluated.

Waking up for the day, Nikodemus went to his forge and began to work. His work was short for the day. Most of his items were just basic steel and nothing to ostentation. Working the steel he made a helmet, shield and falchion. He attempted to craft 2 more items, but both failed and couldn't be salvaged. His last forge came out nice and he was glad it to didnt fail. The 2 Handed Battle Axe was of a great quality and would be a nice new addition to his shop. Taking them, Nikodemus left for evaluation.

Having been working since returning from floor 6, Nikodemus had worked in the forge on a new weapon for most of the day. As he finished it, he worked an engraving of rose petals in the tsuba. Setting it aside, he then began to work on another weapon. He forged a good spear head and attatched it to a wooden handle that was large and would need 2 hands to us. His last item was a whip made of braided leather with a split at the top, nine seperate flails tipped with razor sharp heads. the handle was a cherry wood handle and he had engraved a nine tailed fox into the wood. After finishing the items, he realized he was out of materials and so stopped for the day and took the 3 items for evaluation.
