[PP-F2] Let There Be Light - Quest

With the Queen Bee and her minions slain from the Long Live the Queen quest, and the quest having been turned in for the quest rewards, Yamato's quest log beeped at him. He swiped his finger in the air in front of him and scrolled through the final screen for the Long Live the Queen quest before tapping the accept button as it floated in the air in front of him. Moving through his list of active, but incomplete, quests the blonde man's blue eyes read through the list before finally landing on the last quest that he wanted to get accomplished for the day, Let There Be Light. "Only one more left, we have to go rescue an NPC kid that's lost in a cave. An', we have ta kill a few bats. When we're done we take the kid to her mother, an' we're done for the day."

Hearing the description of the mission caused her to quickly leap into action like she did when they first met knowing another child was in trouble. "W-we got to go now I will slay all of those nasty bats if I have to!" She shouted before stopping and frowning, "W-wait ... he is an NPC which means he is gonna keep getting lost." Her voice taking another solemn tone after having been upbeat again after the previous carnage they had to fight through. "There really is no way of allowing them to stop these horrible quests is there?" She sighed now glancing back and shaking her head. "N-never mind that Avi you have to get use to this it won't change till you get out and fix this stupid game's programming!"

"Aye, the kid will jus' keep gettin' lost," Yamato allowed, shrugging his shoulders. That was the way the game was programmed, after all. The child would stay with the NPC mother for a time, but when someone else came along and activated the quest the child would get lost all over again. When that happened another player, or group of players, would have to go and find and rescue the kid all over again. "But, there is a bright side. The bats can't hurt the kid since the kid is a Quest Object. So, this NPC can never be hurt or get sick or anythin' like that."

"That is sorta depressing to think about none the less," she sighed waddling beside him. "I guess it isn't so bad if he gets to stay with his parents till that mission is taken though ... I could put up a sign or something to state that other players could not disturb them right?" She stated looking to her Irish friend before frowning knowing fully well that wouldn't be fair. "But then those people who want to get stronger like us wouldn't have the same opportunities." She now opened her menu to gaze at all the loot drops they had received thus far. "I really don't know what I should even use half of this equipment for."

"Ye could try puttin' up a sign, but mos' players would jus' ignore it," Yamato replied, knowing full well that he would be precisely one of those players that would ignore such a sign. They were quest NPC's. They were not real people. Therefore, it was irrelevant whether or not they were ever placed into any danger within the world of Sword Art Online, regardless of whether that danger was real or imagined. In assisting players in completing quests, the NPC's were serving the sole purpose for which they had been created. "As for the extra gear, sell it to a merchant for some col. Both of us already have gear that's better than what we're gettin' from the quests."

She looked over the old sword from there first mission and frowned realizing it was weaker then the previous one before scrolling once more as the walked till she got over toward the quests. "So I understand there is some sort of light dealio with this quest, but I really don't know what the deal with it is. Are we trying to just turn on the lights in some town or something?" Avilon was bad with detail and reading in particular as she didn't understand it unless it was written in braille which for the most part wasn't a problem as she could change her menu to fit her needs.

"No, we head into a dark cave to retrieve a lost NPC," Yamato replied. Or, at least, that was what the Player Guide had to say about this particular quest. It didn't really sound as if it would be that difficult to complete. Not really. With the correct cave marked on his map, Yamato set off though the forest in the right direction with Avilon tagging along behind him. "Accordin' to the Guide Book for this floor, while we're in the cave we'll have a slight accuracy penalty to our attacks. Still, I don' think it should be too hard for us ta tackle," the Irishman continued, not feeling overly concerned about their odds of succeeding in completing the quest, given that so far they had breezed through the first three.

"Right!" She exclaimed finally recalling why on earth they came to the second floor now to begin with and then blinking rather confused by the exchange, "Wait this is that bat one? I thought we were fighting some dark elf guy or was it lass?" Obviously the missions they had done so far were starting to get mixed up in her mind as she couldn't seem to keep them straight. "And wait there is a guide book!" She shouted again sprinting up with her equipment no longer equipped as they were rather cumbersome. "Pfft penalty smeanalty," Avilon should have run for a job that was to create new words for the dictionary that would have fit her mind set quite well.

OOC: Enter the cave this post, spawn the first bat next post.

"No, lass, killing the dark elf was two quests ago. The thievin' dark elf that stole the thin's from Griswold an' his wife on the third floor," Yamato replied calmly, having grown accustomed by now to his partner's occasional bouts of misremembering and getting things all jumbled up. "An' yes, there's Guide Books on every floor, the NPC merchants give 'em out for free," the blonde man continued, still marching through the forest and deciding, for the moment, not to comment on the fact that Avilon was out of her combat gear and how that might be a bad decision outside of the safe zones. "Anyway, that's the cave right there," Yamato said, pointing to the yawning mouth of the cave into which no light seemed to penetrate. "Shall we?"

"What no way, we only did one quest before this,"  she spoke now feeling extremely positive till that ounce of uncertainty began to seep into her thoughts. "Err?" She stood there rather dumbfounded now as she tried to recollect what all happened this day. "Yeah didn't we just come from the first floor? Ahh heck I don't know another mission is another mission! To the Bat Cave Robin!" She howled out acting as if she was now Batman, but female. Avilon peeked her head in and winced form how dark it was now hiding back behind Yamato as she didn't like being in the darkness any more. She was use to it when she was blind, but now that she was capable of seeing it was quite disturbing for her. "N-n-never mind let's go to the bat not-cave secret layer."

"The only way to complete the quest is to go into the cave," Yamato announced, drawing his axe from its sheath at his right hip. Without further ado, the Irishman went ahead and entered the cave, choosing to refrain from making any insensitive comments about Avilon's blindness in the real world. "Besides, ye can't rescue the NPC kid from out there," he called over his shoulder, already disappearing into the inky blackness of the cave. The blonde man hadn't gone too far into the cave when he was assaulted by the first of the bats that would have to be dispatched. Yamato flailed blindly in the darkness, missing the bat cleanly. Still, the bat slammed into him and was immediately stung back by the thorns enchantment on his shield.

Avilon whimpered rather sadly now as Yamato told her the only way to finish this off was to enter to creepy tank dungeon. "Can't I just set up some food for the bats and the child and lure them out instead?" Glancing over as her ax wielding companion now began to wander into the darkness. "W-wait for me Yam-cha!" She shouted now sprinting after him and pulling out her shield and sword before shivering and freaking out about every little noise. She then bumped into his back, "Gahh who's there!" she then stopped and squealed hearing the flapping of wings and the bat flying down to attack her friend. Her sword began to flail about through the air releasing her normal sword art uncertain if she hit anything. The odds being rather silly that she would miss both her companion and the bat but with Avilon most anything was possible as her blade sliced through the air inches away from hitting Yamato.

"It's jus' me, lass," Yamato replied in the darkness of the cave, turning his head in the direction of the flapping wings of their mammalian adversary. If he paid enough attention to the sounds the bat was making he should be able to find the creature and launch a successful attack. It was all dependent on simply being quiet and observant which, given his partner for this quest, didn't seem all that likely. At least in terms of the quiet part. When the sound of flapping wings suddenly intensified locating the bat became much easier and the blonde man lashed out with a pair of diagonal slashes that caught the bat squarely.

"Who's that?!" She screamed now hearing the voice her sword again slicing through the air completely missing the bat and companion as it smashed against the cave wall resonating down the blade to her hilt She fell over now feeling awkward from the sensation of the vibrations now making their way through her body her eyes now rolling around in a circle as she mewled weakly against the cave side as she had apparently been defeated by the darkness now since her own competence was completely shattered in this fight.

Yamato heard Avilon clearly swing her weapon and hit the side of the cave wall. The accompanying clatter of what sounded like a weapon, a shield, and armor made it sound as though she had collapsed to the ground. Grunting, the Irishman made his way over in the direction of the recent racket and, kneeling in the dark he began to search around blindly in the darkness until his hand latched on to some part of Avilon. Frankly, he wasn't entirely sure what part of the woman he grabbed, not that he overly cared at the moment. "On yer feet," he grunted, hauling Avilon upright once again. "We still have work to do."

As the bat came sweeping in toward her again she let out an even louder scream flailing her sword about and her shield till she cracked her head quite hard against the wall not her brightest work as she now went silent in the darkness. The feel on his hand was soft and plump perhaps her rear or something else which he had gotten a hand full of as she now passed out the darkness was truly her worst enemy as she lied there weakly and practically immobilized by her own stupidity. The pink haired girl's body now propped against the cave wall as she groaned weakly.

Yamato groaned as he heard Avilon flailing around and then she suddenly went quiet. No doubt, judging by the thump that had preceded the sudden decline in noise coming from the woman, she had managed to run into one of the walls of the cave and knock herself silly. As dark as it was, there was no real way for the blonde man to know for sure. At the moment, though, it wasn't his concern. There were more pressing matters to deal with as they flapped around in the cave. Becoming quite still, the Irishman listened and then suddenly lashed out with a chopping attack to his right, giving a tight grin in the darkness as he felt his tomahawk bite into some part of the bat for a solid hit.

Avilon mewled weakly her body now a toppled over as she began to recover from her little fiasco, "Ughh where on earth did it go?" She whined now pulling herself back up to her feet as she helped herself up with her sword and shield. After standing back up she swung her sword aimlessly about the bat let out another shrieked as she accidentally chopped into it's wing causing it to fly away from her after the strike it's hatred still aimed toward her companion as she now brought the sword back to her, "Uhhh wait did I hit it? I can't see anything in here." She mewled sadly hanging her head in confusion.

Yamato's blue eyes jerked, involuntarily, in Avilon's direction as he heard the woman beginning to stir. Not that it mattered if he spared her a glance, given that it was pitch dark and he couldn't even see his hand in front of his face. To say nothing of his questing partner. "Looks like ye did," he called, squinting in the bat's direction and just making out the winged mammal's hit point gauge. "One more good hit an' we'll be halfway done with this quest," he continued, his hand tightening on his tomahawk. Springing forward, Yamato swung at the bat or at least he swung where he thought the bat was, but he came up with nothing but air.

Avilon nodded realizing she wasn't being quite as useless as she normally was her hands now firmly holding her sword, eyes furiously trying to see through the darkness that was still terrifying her. Her hands weakly gripping the sword as she swung through the air once more, the steal missing the bat that now fluttered about around them in a taunting fashion causing her a fair amount of stress. "H-how are we suppose to even hit this thing when I can't see it?" She frowned now looking for Yamato hoping he wasn't in the way.
