Creius 0 Posted May 23, 2016 Author #21 Share Posted May 23, 2016 Nathan walked down the road towards the market district. Now that he had walked a bit his mind had cleared up and he was feeling considerably better. His body had stopped shaking and the fear had flushed out of his system a bit, leaving him rather calm and tranquil. It was amazing how even after a near-death experience he still could barely maintain a semblance of emotion. He walked on, considering the next phase of the quest. He was going to have to make something for the merchant before he could pass the quest but he had no clue what he was going to make. Of course, maybe he should just wait before trying to plan. He was sure the merchant had an entire tutorial on how to be a master tailor, or at least how to begin one's journey to becoming a master tailor. Still, he was a bit anxious about it. He liked having a plan before him and not really having any clue what he was doing was a bit daunting to him. It was hard to resign himself to the mentality that "it would work out" but he would have to in this case. He turned onto the market district's street and began walking down the road, narrowed by the plentiful amount of booths to the sides.
Creius 0 Posted May 23, 2016 Author #22 Share Posted May 23, 2016 Down the street and casting a look to both sides, Nathan tried to remember which shop it had been that he had obtained the quest from. It was a few minutes before he saw a familiar sight, a certain street-side display through a window, and Nathan smiled wide. It was time to move onto the next step of the quest. Approaching the door Nathan pushed it open and stepped inside. The NPC was standing behind the counter, inspecting a bolt of velvet it seemed, and he looked up at Nathan with a smile. "Returned have we? Do you have the necessary materials in order to make some clothing?" the NPC called out to him from behind the counter. The old man walked from behind the counter and into the back room. Shortly after he returned with a small kit in hands and headed towards a table in the far corner of the room. The table had a few scraps of cloth on it and was squared out so that precise measurements could be made on it. The NPC laid the kit onto the table and made an indication for Nathan to approach it. "Come here, sonny. Let me show you how to sew up some clothes." Nathan nodded and approached the table. So he would be making clothes today, that was not terrible at all. If anything maybe he could get something that would be a bit more protective out of it. As Nathan approached the table he looked down at it and then at the NPC, wondering how the crafting process in the game would work. He had never seen the process done before and it would prove quite interesting to see how the game creators had implemented such a mechanic.
Creius 0 Posted May 23, 2016 Author #23 Share Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) The NPC took the bolt of velvet that was in his hands and placed it onto the table. Nathan figured this was the beginning of the tutorial and watched carefully, ready to absorb every single little detail. "Now, being a tailor is not terribly difficult," the NPC began, "It is actually rather easy. You take whatever material you have and with a little usage of your needle and thread you turn this material into some masterpiece." The NPC then took out a needle and threaded the eye then looked down at the velvet with a knowing smile. He poked the needle through the material once then threaded it back out and the material began to glow and transform into a rather nice looking leather shirt. The old man looked up at Nathan and smiled warmly. "See? Easy as that, just have to thread your material. It all depends on skill, the more skilled you are of course the more products you learn to make at a better quality. Here," the NPC handed Nathan the needle and another spool of thread, "Why don't you try it with those materials of yours? Make something nice and warm. That will be proof enough that you will be a master tailor one day. Maybe you'll open up your own shop and be the most renowned of Aincrad." The NPC just kept smiling as Nathan took the needle and thread out of his hands. Now, this was going to be a new type of adventure. Edited May 23, 2016 by Creius
Creius 0 Posted May 23, 2016 Author #24 Share Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) ID#59457 CD: 2 Result: Failure: One Mat Lost Nathan opened his menu and went over to his inventory and selected the boar hide he had just received. The material plopped down onto the table, hairy and rough as ever. "Oh dear, that's an ugly material. Surely you could have done better. No one will want a shirt made of that stuff," the old man so kindly commented over Nathan's shoulder. With a glare Nathan turned to the material. He could do this. He put the needle up to his eye and attempted to thread the eye of the needle. The old man had made it look so easy but it took Nathan quite a few attempts to actually successfully get the thread through. With a sigh Nathan looked down at the boar hide on the table, not really sure how to proceed. The NPC gave an impatient gesture so Nathan went on his way and poked the needle through the material. After the initial thread the system took over, probably now calculating what work he would create, and he made a few more stitches in the material until the hide began to transform under his hands. Nathan could not help but smile as he watched it glow a bright red and... come out as a worthless piece of garbage. The NPC began laughing behind him and Nathan was almost tempted to stab him with the needle, though he knew the NPC was immortal. "Oh, it was bound to happen eventually. You're just a beginner. Go on, try again. Do you have any more materials with which you can try again?" Nathan nodded and swiped his hand down, accessing his menu. Creius 0 Posted May 23, 2016 Author #25 Share Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) ID#59458 CD: 11 Result: Perfect Item (2 Enhancements) | +5 EXP | 1 Mat Consumed Nathan selected one of the fiber materials he had picked up on his walk over to Horunka Village and it appeared on the table in front of him. "Ooo, that's a nice piece of flax you got there sonny. You should be able to make something nice out of that indeed." The NPC scooted a bit closer, almost expectantly as though Nathan truly had any control over this. Nathan glanced from the NPC to the needle and thread in his hand. Once more he took the needle and pushed it through the fiber and let the system take over. The NPC had been right about it being easy, all he had to do was initiate it and after that the matter was out of his hands. Once more the material began to glow and transform as the system decided what should be made and once the process was one with there was a puffy natural coloured shirt sitting on the table. It retained the green-brown colour of the material, flax as the tailor had called it, and looked like it would be a rather comfortable thing to wear. The tailor stepped forward, whistling, and said, "Now, that is a beautiful shirt. That is a pretty nice piece of work for a beginner tailor." The NPC smiled at Nathan once more, "You hear that? You are a tailor now, through and through. Now, let's see what this shirt is..." The NPC reached out and touched the item and a small display popped up and it showed a small image of the shirt. All the window said was "Rare Item" and had to slots with question marks in them. The NPC nodded happily and turned towards Nathan with a large smile on his face. "Congratulations, you passed. You should go get that item evaluated so you can reap the benefits of your hard work. I hope you enjoy your career as a tailor." A window then popped up in front of Creius informing him of the quest's completion. Nathan hit the accept button and turned towards the shirt he made. This was going to be an interesting little adventure to delve into. A lot more safer than farming and hopefully just as profitable. Nathan took the shirt into his inventory and exited the shop, giving the shop keeper a wave as he left. Edited May 23, 2016 by Creius
