Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) It had been a long, long time since the last time Kalesh had done any proper gathering for materials and just for materials. Today he was going to scour this floor for anything he could use as bait, whether it be plant, bug, or meat. After having teleported up to the sixteenth floor he found himself walking through the tribal village with little concern aside from the odd glance at the primitively dressed women in the village. He did manage to pry his eyes back away however and continue out of the village. Picking a direction at random Kalesh begins walking into the wilderness. Anything and everything was on his menu today as he removed his usual jacket in favor of putting his luck accessory on his belt. He didn't mind being topless in the hot sun, if anything it made the breeze feel that much nicer against his skin as his search officially began on the volcanic islands. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Kalesh's first attempt at finding some bait failed, he had been walking through wilderness and noted a small snake slithering about. Just as Kalesh had been approaching the creature in the hopes of capturing it and making it his replacement for a simple worm it slithered away! He stood not chance of catching i through the bushes and tall grass, a shrug being made by his shoulders as he resigned himself to keep searching elsewhere for something to impale on his hooks in the attempt at making a living. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) A few minutes later, as if the smaller snake had been a baby running for its mother, a far more massive snake had appeared before Kalesh. It hissed irritatedly at the clawed player and started to slowly circle around him menacingly. "Aww, that's adorable!" The crimson haired player mused while lifting his claws higher. He had pet snakes in the past, so he had developed a love for them as opposed to the paranoia some people felt towards the limbless reptiles. He raises his claws and with a smile begins hacking the snake into sections, hearing it hiss in outrage as sevens cuts went down its length until it fell apart in a spectacular display of pixels. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Having gotten a decent hunk of snake meat for his fishing needs he continued his exploration of the floor with curiosity showing his eyes. He hadn't properly explored this floor, only having visited Zandra's beach house and the main village as far as exploration went. As that thought crossed his mind he noticed a flower that seemed to stand out from the foliage. Its flower was a bright red which made Kalesh smile as he grabbed it by the base and gave it one hard pull! The root of the plant was rather thick to his amusement and advantage. Without a second thought the item was tossed into his inventory to be used another day. [ID# 61470][LD: 16+2=18] +1 Material (Total 2) Edited June 12, 2016 by Kalesh
Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) What Kalesh fought next was a being of pure madness and horror. Something he never thought someone would willingly put into a game like this that took itself somewhat seriously. Descending from up high came an irate parrot. "Polly want a cracker?!" It shouted in outrage with its talons outstretched to assault the red haired player in his shock. The shock only lasted an instant, not enough time for the monster to capatilize on as he held out a clawed finger and with several quick slices caused the parrot to vanish and leave him with some bird meat. "... God damnit, Kayaba." He says softly while returning to his duty. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) The next monster Kalesh fought was a bit more tame as far as theme went. He heard hissing and his eyes turned to see a large feline rearing up to attack him. It was obviously a predator species but not one he recognized, perhaps even being a unique blend the designers came up with. He wasn't one to complain in either regard as he held his claws up. When the monster charged towards him to claw the smile right off his face Kalesh swiftly sliced through the monster's flesh as he had all before it. He momentarily wondered if he should have tried a harder floor before he remembered this was the second strongest floor available to him! He snickered as his materials and col funneled straight into his account. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Exploring deeper into the wild Kalesh was soon greeted with the familiar sound of snorting. As his eyes glanced in the direction of the noise's source he raised a brow at the sight of a boar. Albeit a recolored one that looked to be somewhat mossier than the lower floored ones. He tried not to judge though, limited resources and time, this was a common thing in gaming in general. Still, seeing it gave him a pang of frustration. When the boar charged forward Kalesh stepped a bit to the left and held out his clawed hand so it raked across the charging monster's sides. As it squealed and shattered thanks to its assisted suicide Kalesh found himself in need of a slight rest, or at least a break from combat. His stats were starting to wear down from the damage he was putting out more than anything. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Not sensing any immediate danger in the area around him, Kalesh moves to find a seat against a tree. Letting his head rest back against the bark while the wind blew through the wild and enjoying the shade, Kalesh found himself getting fairly comfortable, just sitting back and enjoying what the unnatural world around him had to offer as far as rest, relaxation, and stimulation of his nervous system. He inhales deeply through his nose as well to take in the scents as he shuts his eyes for a brief nap in the wild without a care in the world. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) With his eyes shut he listened to the sound of plant rustling in the wind, the sound of the peaceful fauna scurrying about. All in all he was decently relaxed on this floor, even with the threat of attack from either the wildlife or filthy savages. He had reached a point where he didn't feel as vulnerable as when he started playing, like there was a fairness to the floors and he could handle things as they came. Additionally he always had a back up plan, a way out for if he ended up stuck in a hard spot. So long as he didn't die in one attack, he was confident he could survive most scenarios at the very least, even if caught off guard. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Taking a deep breath through his nose and letting out a relaxed sigh Kalesh opens his eyes and starts to stand himself up. He pats his clothes off of any dust or pollen or anything else that might had stuck to him during his rest. Once adequately presentable Kalesh figured he should continue his search for materials and profit. He would probably hunt bigger game when he was a bit tougher, the Col returns would be amazing if his current money situation was anything to go off of. He wasn't about to buy a house, but he wasn't going to fall into poverty either if these col drops grew as his level grew with him! [ID# 61488][LD: 2] Energy Fully Restored! Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) The search for tackle continued once more since his energy felt like it had fully recovered, leaving him with a wide awake look in his eyes as they scanned the horizons. Stepping forward to turn deeper and deeper into the wild and away from the safe zone Kalesh encountered what appeared to be a wolf-like monster. Shrugging his shoulders Kalesh gents into a fighting stance while taking a deep breath. He waited for the canine to lunge, inevitably going for his throat! Prepared for this Kalesh strafed and grabbed the dog around the neck, getting it into a choke hold of sorts as he begins stabbing with his spare arm, clawing at the snarling beast in his arms until his arms felt emptiness from the monster's destruction. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) With another material gained and another monster dead Kalesh contiues yet further along on his quest to just generally ruin the local ecosystem. Well, not that it wouldn't just respawn and make all his work null and void within a day. That was one thing you kinda just had to accept as a player of MMO. You can never go full-genocide. A part of him didn't like that. It would be nice to make the goblins totally extinct one and a while, even if he understood it would totally screw anybody who joins a game late for some reason. He was momentarily lost in thought about potentially driving a virtual race to extinction. And then it went to the darker parts which made him snicker at the things possible with NPCs if someone doesn't mind being orange for a while. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Kalesh heard a faint buzzing in the air, a brow being raised for a moment until a giant beetle came buzzing through! Kalesh gasped and actually lost his footing, collapsing back onto his butt as the beetle charged with it's massive horn! Thanks to Kalesh's fall however, the bug impales itself into the tree that was directly behind Kalesh at the time. Seeing an opportunity for a cheapshot, Kalesh stabs upward with a clawed hand and pierces the massive bug! With it shattering apart he smiled happily as he got the most fitting piece of bait to date, an actual bug! Bugs came second place to actual fish when it came to bait in his mind! Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Taking a deep breath after that initial shock Kalesh stands back up onto his feet and looks at how deep into the virtual tree the beetle had dug in. After examining the hole Kalesh was infinitely happier that the creature hadn't been successful in turning him into a shiskebab. With a hearfelt sigh of relief the red maned man headed deeper stilll.. to find the brush opening up into a beach! It seemed he had reached the end of this island, or at least one of its edges. Stepping out into the sand he looked around while listening to the crash of the waves. The scent of salt filled the air as his eyes scanned the horizons. He heard a slight clacking and looked to his right to see an irate crab that came up to his hip side-walking towards him. He found himself grinning at the angry display and bubbling mouth of the creature. "Okay, now that is just adorable." He says to himself while approaching. "Pity crab meat is so good." He says in part-apology to the creature as he raised his hand. "I promise, your sacrifice shall not be in vain." He says with an edge of dramatacism before bringing it down upon the creature's armored shell. Moments later an explosion was heard and an inventory joined the others in his inventory.. Kalesh 0 Posted June 12, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted June 12, 2016 (edited) Saluting the deceased crab in respect for his sacrifice to the worthy goal that was fishing, Kalesh turned on his heel and started the walk back towards the main settlement. He wasn't going to try and cross the water, figuring that by the time he got back he would have had enough materials to keep him satisfied for a little while at the least. The all-consuming abyss of fishing was a cruel mistress indeed, but one he had to brave so that no other would need to. He would become the best fisherman this game had ever seen, only so that nobody would ever need to take his place in the vicious and cruel fate he had decided for himself. Kalesh 0 Posted June 13, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted June 13, 2016 (edited) Having begun the walk properly towards the village he found himself becoming more lax in his alertness. He had, in his mind, proven that the monsters of this floor weren't a major obstacle. Obstacles, yes, but ones he could stop over with very little effort on his part. His eyes did turn upwards when he saw something that stood out from the greenery around him. It was gray and furry. A drop-bear! Kalesh chuckled softly at the thinly veiled trap by the developers. He raises his clawed hand over his head and keeps walking. Sure enough, Kalesh felt a weight against his hand and heard the shattering of pixels as he walked along. His eyes widened when the rewards menu held two materials as well as col! He wasn't sure quite how to take it but he took ti well regardless! Kalesh 0 Posted June 13, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted June 13, 2016 (edited) While he did feel a slight pang of regret for the death of the Koala, they weren't in any danger of going extinct here as he had once before thought to himself. Killing an army of small adorable puppies would probably be gruesome on the mind but morally speaking it wouldn't affect anything as they'd just pop back out good as new a few hours later. At the same time however he didn't want to kill any puppies... Lost in thought with his hand cupping his chin he hears a sickening crunch looks under his foot to see a smooshed spider, making him squint in disgust before it shattered apart. "Ugh... Grooooooss!" He wasn't so much grossed out by the spider so much as the feeling and... texture(?) of it crushing under his foot before it died. Kalesh 0 Posted June 13, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted June 13, 2016 (edited) Kalesh felt tired in the lazy sort of way more than anything. There were plenty of comfy looking trees to nap in but he shook his head dismissively of the idea. Since this was one of the higher floors there would probably be tough players prowling about, and he didn't want to be robbed blind in his sleep. With a defeatist sigh he turns his attention back to walking to town again and seeing if he could find himself a nice place to rest and relax. Every floor did have somewhere, she wasn't too concerned over that, just surviving the trip back without issue. He lets out a soft yawn with his hand covering his mouth as he strolls along. Moving to it and kneeling down he started to dig into the ground a bit, pulling up what looked like a rock with a piece of ore in it. Crush the rock, Kalesh smiled as the rubble fell away from the rest of the stone to reveal a decent sized piece of ore. "Sweeeeet." He says softly as he inventories it and stops kneeling. He had a semi-decent supply of items in the works, rather pleased with the short farming run's progress. He took a nice deep breath through his nose and jogged the rest of the way there, aimed for the settlement's entrance. At this point he figured himself home free. It wasn't often in MMOs that a monster would be standing between the city and its entrance, so he was happy to close the distance quickly before any monsters outside that range got any ideas and decided to give chase after the crimson haired player.
