Emblem 0 Posted June 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) It was a cloudy day on floor 1 a perfect day to spend in the fields. Emblem lay down on a hill with a river to his left under the shade of one of the few trees on the plain filled floor. He had spent most of the day so far killing boars so he decided he would take a break form the grinding and take a nap or something. He thought of what he would do next. He planned to start traveling to the upper floors for awhile to get fight some harder monsters. He considered maybe going to floor 4 one of his favorite or maybe to Delilah village. Or maybe, he thought maybe ill try one of the higher floors. He quickly shook the thought away. At least until I get stronger I wont take on the higher floors. Emblem began to feel drowsy considering dosing of again. Edited June 26, 2016 by Emblem
Victor 0 Posted June 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) No matter how hard he pressed his back against the bark of the tree, the wood didn't chaff his skin, nor did it cause any pain, he just felt a mild increase in pressure. It's funny to feel that one without the other. Luke thought, usually increase in pressure meant some pain at the very least. So the game didn't allow for any pain sensations to be activated. With the cruelty of being trapped in a death game, one would assume Kayaba had some sadistic fantasies, but apparently not. The boy was always trying to decipher the intentions of the creator. For now he had deduced the 'will to play god' and large ego with a heavy dose of self importance, to the point where he believed that in order to have his creation appreciated, he'd have to force it upon people. Which too was senseless, because forcing something upon someone is hardly a measure of true value. Victor shrugged and scoured the fields in front of him. The low hanging branches of the tree provided good shelter. The player reached out a plucked a leaf in order to test if he could procure anything of value from the tree. Upon finishing his attempt at extraction, he noticed another young looking player in the vicinity. Tempted to just observe from a distance, Victor made no move, waiting to see if the other player noticed him too. Spoiler # 61882 LD: 9 No mats found. Emblem 0 Posted June 20, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 20, 2016 Emblem scanned the field below him wondering what there was to do. There was the occasional tree in the distance. Most trees looked the same in this game. A tree down here you could most likely find a copy of it on a higher floor. He looked at the trees trying to see if he could find any of the copies. However one tree made him do a double take. It seemed that there was something peeking out from behind the tree. Emblem's heart rate increased for all he knew that was a PKer stalking him trying to go in for a kill. Emblem straightened his sword onto his back then pulled the blade out of the sheath. Emblem walked towards the tree ready to see what the payer really was doing. So much for a moment of relaxation.
Victor 0 Posted June 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) The leaves of the tree were deemed worthless, the brown haired player turned his attention to the bark he'd been initially using in his private little experiment. He plucked of a sizable chunk of brown and attempted to make his extraction. Alas, the bark was as useless as the leaf. He turned away briefly, to scan for other things he could extract from. When he turned back, the blonde haired player had indeed noticed Victor in the distance. As expected the other player was surprised by his existence. Vic raised his hands and smiled in a friendly manner to assuage his confrontational instincts. "Could you lower your sword please? I'm unarmed." He said simply. He took mental notes on the appearance of the other player. He added easily startled to his checklist. Perhaps the player could be of some use to him, perhaps not. "I'm Victor, I promise I mean no harm." The teen added, tentatively extending his hand and widening his smile. "What's your name?" He asked in attempt to keep the conversation going. Emblem 0 Posted June 20, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 20, 2016 Emblem narrowed his eyes as the man stuck out his hand to shake. It was obvious that he was stronger than the man. Perhaps he could use his age to his advantage being 13 would defiantly make the man expect less of him. He put his sword back into its sheath then shook the mans hand. Hello, I don't think you realize how shady you looked there. Most people would confuse you for a PKer. And unlike me they would've full on killed you. Emblem could tell something seemed to be up. The whole situation just seemed shady to him. Now your not a Pker right? Because i'm going to tell you right now. If you try anything this sword could be in your chest. Oh yeah by the way i'm Emblem. It's a pleasure to meet you.
Victor 0 Posted June 21, 2016 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2016 Luke wanted to smirk in the kid's face, however he thought better of it. Age didn't matter that much, he could be of a much higher level and kill Victor (and hence Luke, unfortunately) with great ease. Not to mention, the younger one is, the more pliable they are, it'd be good to have such a person on his side. So, instead, he went for a calm smile. "Oh god! That sounds terrible." He said in sarcastic fear, but toning the sarcasm down enough for the younger player to believe he was genuinely scared. "Well, I'm really sorry I look shady and that I startled you. I was just attempting to collect some materials that I could use to better the quality of the equipment that people use... That's all." Victor said, crouching to now attempt an extraction with a piece of root. As the player threatened about the sword, Vic remained crouched and noisily took out his dagger from the sheath, as a small warning. He had no intention of hurting the other player, but also wanted to let him know that he isn't completely defenseless anymore. Very visibly and slowly, he then tended to the root of the tree, in order to remove a piece from it. Adding a reassuring touch to his smile, he got back up, dagger still in hand and said "No sword in my chest please. I'm no PKer." He then returned his dagger to his pocket. "Like I said, I'm Victor. Pleased to meet you too, Emblem." The player added jovially. He attempted his extraction on the root piece and was glad to find something from it. "Ah finally, something worth using." He muttered. Emblem 0 Posted June 21, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted June 21, 2016 Well Victor what are you a blacksmith? Emblem crouched down next to him as he tried to extract as piece of root. Maybe an Alchemist? Emblem watched the man pull out a dagger from his pocket. He tensed up wondering what the mans intentions were. However he quickly relaxed when he saw the man use it to extract a piece of bark then return it to his pocket. Okay I trust you. Your not a Pker. Sorry for, y'now for pulling my sword on you. It's really hard to trust people in this game sometimes. Emblem blushed then rubbed the back of his head then gave a nervous laugh.
Victor 0 Posted June 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) The boy seemed like a nice one to have on his side. "I'm not a blacksmith or an alchemist, I'm training to be a Merchant." the older teen added, in response to Emblem's questions, crouching again and overturning pebbles to see if they had something special to offer. He picked up one and performed another extraction dismissively. When he gained nothing from it he tossed it away. Vic chuckled softly as the boy apologized "Don't worry about it, one can never be-" In a swift motion, he pulled out his dagger and made a quick stabbing motion towards the younger player... ...and then stopped right before the cursed icy blue blade touched the other player. He remained paused like that for a brief moment, in order to assure the other that he wasn't going to attack. Speed was hardly a problem with Luke, given all his training in real life, of course the actually damage he doled out was highly dependent on the system.. "-too careful." he finished his sentence, now laughing at his probably inappropriate action. "Ok, maybe that wasn't all that funny..." Victor said reflectively. "And seriously, I'm not going to harm you, just messing around a little." He finished with a wink and sheathed his dagger. Spoiler ID# 61958 : Loot: 8 No mat found. Emblem 0 Posted June 21, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted June 21, 2016 Emblem listened to the player as he talked about him being a merchant. Then in a forgiving explanation he said that "you could never be". What the He... Emblem looked down at his chest as he watched the players blade cine-meters away from his chest. "Too careful" finished the player. Emblem watched frozen as Victor took the blade back and placed it back in his pocket. He began to apologize saying that maybe that wasn't very funny. Yeah maybe a little... Emblem took a sigh of relief. He'd defiantly have to keep an eye on this guy. He could just not read this player victor.
Victor 0 Posted June 22, 2016 #10 Share Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) As the player sighed, Victor smirked but let it morph into a laugh, it was exactly the reaction he had hoped for. Luke had rarely picked on people in the past. He had remained neutral towards bullies, because no one had dared to bully him and he just couldn't be bothered to invest time in threatening people to do his bidding only to get caught and get into trouble. Through out his school years, had never been his thing, playing nice was easier... But in this short interaction with the younger player, he could see the appeal. But if he truly wanted to get things done, or wanted any help, he'd have to earn some trust. So he decided on refraining himself from playing such tricks again. "In all seriousness though, you should probably work on being faster and staying alert." Vic winked, letting his laugh even out into a soft chuckle. "So... What about you? Are you working on any professions?" Victor asked casually, still not giving up on his mission to collect something, he stretched to reach for a queer looking fruit on the tree. The fruit gave fruition to his desires and he could extract an unpleasant smelling sticky substance, he was glad all of it went straight to his inventory, leaving no sticky trails behind. Emblem 0 Posted June 22, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted June 22, 2016 Well... I guess technically i am a blacksmith but I haven't exactly forged anything yet. Emblem remembered the quest he went on with his friend golden which he hadn't seen in a very long time. I guess i just never really had an interest in actually doing my profession but now that I actually think about it, it would be nice to forge some stuff and learn really somethings about black smithing. Emblem thought about it. Finding some mats would be really great. Not only could he use it to purchase some new equipment but also to start making his own.
Victor 0 Posted June 22, 2016 #12 Share Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) "Ah, so you're already a blacksmith... I see." Victor said, wondering if he should make a deal with the boy for weapons in the future. "You should try look for ores, I believe that's what helps you craft weapons and things." Victor said, in a helpful manner, trying to accelerate the boy's progress, mostly so he had an option of exploiting the budding blacksmith. He then scanned the surrounding for some ore, just so he could show the younger player what he should be on the look out for, unfortunately he spotted none in the vicinity. "You have it easier, ores can be identified and extracted from a lot of things, I sometimes don't even know what might help with betterment of gear." The brown haired teen shrugged. "You know, how about If you do craft something and I could be your customer." He said, in a non-binding manner. "In return for the weapon, I could teach you how to fight." Vic said with a smirk, if he managed to convince the player to make such a deal, it would mean more free gear for him, possibly. "I am trained in krav maga and several different knife fighting techniques." He said, in attempts to bolster his plans. He unsheathed his dagger again and swished it around in a fancy manner, as though fighting an invisible enemy, just to showcase his skills. Spoiler # 61983 LD: 9 No Mat found. Emblem 0 Posted June 22, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted June 22, 2016 Well I can hold my own in a fight but maybe we could work something out? Like if you help me get some materials to start crafting then maybe i could make you a weapon? Emblem didn't really need to learn different styles of fighting like that krav maga stuff. All he needed was a sword and he could really kill whatever he needed to. The game had a way of doing that almost controlling his body into the motions to kill say a boar or a hound. Speaking of which. Have you ever been in combat? Emblem studied the player. He did decent gear but didn't exactly look like someone who had fought in battles. of course he wouldn't say that to the mans face fearing that he would stab his dagger at him once more. Victor 0 Posted June 22, 2016 #14 Share Posted June 22, 2016 (edited) Luke wanted to frown about the boy not taking his bait. Victor couldn't without making his intentions transparent. He chuckled at the boy and sarcastically said "Of course you can hold your own." Then he nudged the kid with his elbow gently "I'm kidding, I'm sure you're great" Victor added with an engineered encouraging smile plastered on his face. "Like I said, you should try looking for ores, we could look together if you want, I'm anyways on the lookout for things that might help me." The brown haired player suggested. He stopped short of actually offering ores to the boy, in case he found them, because occasionally they had special properties that could be useful for his preparations too. I'll just perform my extraction first to see if its a special ore or not. Luke formulated simply. Emblem had gone on to inquire about whether Victor had been in any battles so far. "Oh no, all I've majorly done is scour the floors, gather information and then got myself some good gear. Now I prepare to level up a little using that Merchant quest, I've heard training to be a professional helps level you up, once I'm a little higher and feel a little safer, I'll get into combat. Like I said, can never be too safe." he reminded with a soft smile. "What about you? Have you fought yet?" Vic asked out of a little curiosity. "Also, what level are you?" He walked away from the tree and found his gaze tracing the contours of the land to find some irregularity that could possibly be an ore, but there was nothing around. Emblem 0 Posted June 22, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted June 22, 2016 Emblem watched the player laugh at his statement saying that he could hold his own only to say that he was kidding. He still felt it so hard to tell what this man was thinking. obviously he still had to keep his guard up. Okay how about we split the ores 50 50? Emblem waited as the man told him that he hadn't been in combat before and mostly just looked for materials for his shop and such. This helped Emblem lower his guard hearing that the man hadn't had any experience fighting in the game. He then asked Emblem if he had been in any combat and what his level was. Oh yeah ive been in lots of combat as for my level... I'd rather not tell you that. In the world of Aincrad sometimes it was seen as rude to ask someone for their level. Usually Emblem told people right away but he wanted to gain the brown haired boys trust first.
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 #16 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) (OOC: Everything he is suggesting is just RP fluff for interaction xD and of course, when the time comes if I need your Blacksmithing services I'll be more than happy to pay by mats/col, can't admit that IC) Luke wanted to shut down the idea of splitting anything the found, even though it could potentially lead to more materials than he could gather himself, but there was a decent chance that that wouldn't happen. Victor wanted to shut down the idea too, but he had to find a more socially smooth way to do it. Victor said in a winded response. He tripped over something and upon looking down noticed it was an ore. "Well, I don't really need ores, but sometimes they have some special properties that might help me, like this one..." He said holding up the gleaming ore he had just unearthed. "These kinds won't help you. If you run the ores you find by me, I'll tell you if they're any good for you or not and of course if I spot any that won't help me, I'll send them your way." In all honesty he didn't need to cut a deal with Emblem as a blacksmith, at least not in the near future. He knew of a few others who might cut him better deals than him having to split potential loot by two. Besides, when the boy added that he wouldn't share his level, Luke had to make sure he didn't go all tight lipped. There was some underlying friction, clearly he hadn't won the young man's trust, this was rare... Perhaps the older player had pushed his luck with the joke. He tousled his brown hair and said "Fair, fair. I know a lot of people don't like to share their exact level... An idea would have been nice though, I could've told you which materials would suit your level best, since I am training to better weapons, I have a fair knowledge of ores" Vic offered a bait. Emblem 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted June 23, 2016 OOC: Of course Emblem nodded as he talked about materials intent to learn. So you can pretty much find materials for stuff like ores everywhere? And thanks for teaching me about this stuff I hope you become a very successful merchant. Emblem sighed as Victor told Emblem about ores. It seemed like thats all that this guy was interested in materials to make more money. Suddenly remembering that he had never been in combat before Emblem decided he would attempt to get out of the boring situation. So you said you'd never fought before. So do you want me to show you? I'm positive there's a few boars around right now!
Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 #18 Share Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) "Sort of yeah, though rumor has it, the higher up you go," he said pointing upwards indicating the floors there. "The better the ores are, which makes sense really because you need better gear then..." He stated the obvious. The boy thanked him curtly and wished him luck on being a Merchant. He could tell from the tone of the boy that he wasn't interested in learning any more. Attention span of a goldfish. Victor sighed, as he noticed he'd lost the interest of the kid he was trying to teach. He sighed some more and then gave up, maybe he'd just have to stick with the blacksmiths he already had, didn't look like this one was going to spend time creating gear. He remained silent for a bit, letting the kid stew in his own boredom hopefully. The older (and perhaps wiser boy) on the other hand continued his relentless search. To no avail, however which was frustrating because he was seriously not making a great impression on the guy and chances of future interactions were seeming bleak. Emblem offered an interesting suggestion, that he'd show Vic how to fight. This was funny, because Victor already knew how to fight, he just wasn't sure if he was ready to risk it with his current level. "Er, well sure, why not?" Victor said, assuming the boy was high enough level and knew what he was doing. "I'd rather not fight myself till I'm more ready, but maybe I'll take the risk after I've seen you have a go." Victor urged. Spoiler # 62135 LD: 12 No mat found Edited June 24, 2016 by Victor
Emblem 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Wow, I saw you as the braver type Victor but if thats what you want then ill be glad to kill something. Emblem got up from where he had been sitting then slowly pulled his sword out of its sheath. Luckily he spotted a boar not to far away. Hmm looks like it's a bit stronger than the others boars around here. Perfect. Emblem grinned then darted towards the boar with his sword at ready. The boar charged at him as well. As they greeted one and other Emblem dodged to the side as it rammed its horns into what would've been Emblems leg. He brought his sword down onto the boars back as it tried to get back its bearings. He jumped back with his sword held out in front of him waiting for its next attack. Emblem: 36/36 Boar 15/18 BD: 8 MD: 2 ID: 62149 Edited June 26, 2016 by Emblem
Victor 0 Posted June 25, 2016 #20 Share Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) Victor remained at the tree, unwilling to engage in battle unless it was absolutely necessary. He watched the younger boy grapple with a boar and now that the kid didn't pay any mind to him, Victor let a bored expression sit on his face. Luke thought it was probably kind to not invade the battle unless the boy asked for help. He did after all want to show Victor how to fight. Vic noticed another fruit higher on the tree. The boy had realized the stick substance of the fruit was of value to him, so he did his best to reach it. Upon failing, he decided to attempt climbing the tree. It proved difficult, but easier than it would have been in real life. Upon securing his foot hold on a disfigured stub near the middle of the trunk, he pushed himself off the ground, quickly grabbing the first branch he could catch. Victor pulled himself up and swung his legs onto the branch, till he was sitting on it. The fruit was within his reach now and he also felt safer up here in case more boars spawned. He plucked of the plum shaped fruit and added it to his inventory. He decided to cheer the poor boy from up here. "Go Emblem, I think you're doing well." Victor said, working very hard to keep the sarcasm at bay. Spoiler # 62169 LD: 15 +1 Mat Edited June 25, 2016 by Victor
