Background
Taro is a 20-year-old college student who was going to school to study law so that he can one day be a prosecutor. Coming from a rich family obsessed with excellence, Taro never got much of an opportunity to have a life outside his studies and he didn't really care to. That is, until college. Taro got into the best college his family's money and status would allow, but it was a very long distance from his home. His only option was to live in the dorms. He did so for two years. During that time, he met a girl named Miki. She wasn't rich like him, her grades getting her into the school and not so much her family's money. The two met at a coffee shop one morning and hit it off. Miki was Taro's first girlfriend, so the whole experience was rather new to him. All he really knew was that he loved her. About a year after the started dating, however, Miki became pregnant. Nine months later, she gave birth to their daughter, who they named Himiko after Miki's grandmother. When Taro's family found out, they were, needless to say, less than thrilled. Having a baby out of wedlock with a woman of lower birth put a stain on their reputation that could never be washed out, or so they thought. They gave Taro an ultimatum; break things off with her or he would never see any of his family's money again. Taro responded by saying no for the first time ever and informing his father that he was going to marry her. The money dried up shortly thereafter and Taro was forced to drop out of school and move into Miki's apartment, where they planned their wedding for Spring. However, tragedy struck a couple of months later. Around Christmas, when Miki was traveling back from visiting her family, she was in a fatal car accident. Thankfully, Taro was with Himiko at home, so she was safe, but Miki died instantly. Taro was devastated and he was never the same again. After the funeral, Taro moved in with an old friend from school named Keiji Nakamura. This friend introduced Taro to an MMO called Sword Art Online, buying it for him in an attempt to get Taro to do something to get his mind off Miki's death. Taro had never played an MMO before and didn't have much experience with video games, not really having time for that "foolishness", as his father used to say. But the truth was, he was a little anxious to try SAO. Immersing himself in another world and becoming someone else for awhile was very attractive at this point. Taro had no idea what he was in for...

Virtues

Justice. Taro is obsessed with dealing out justice wherever he finds injustice thriving. Even if it means abandoning his primary directive, he will if there is a situation where he feels he is needed. In his eyes, justice is a right of everyone and those who try to commit injustices deserve to be stamped out.

Honor. Taro is an honorable individual, sometimes to a fault. He holds true to this ideal even to his own detriment. Taro is the kind of man to stay his blade during a duel to allow his opponent to pick up their weapon if he disarms them.

Selflessness. Taro is a selfless man, always looking to better the lives of others. He has been in many situations where he was the one making the sacrifices, and sometimes those sacrifices hurt, so he wanted to be sure no one else has to make the same sacrifices he did.

Flaws

Vengeance. Taro cannot handle him or someone he cares about being wronged. Should this happen, the offending party is put on his permanent "[censored] list." Taro will go as far as he needs to in order to right the wrong committed.

Short fuse. Taro's newfound independence has led to him resenting his parents and his upbringing. This resentment has led to Taro having a short fuse. He is liable to blow up on anyone when his fuse finally runs out.

Perfectionist. Taro's upbringing with hours upon hours of studying and having everything finished to perfection has also instilled in him an intense need for everything to be done perfectly outside of his academic life. If he is unable to do something to his satisfaction, Taro becomes very anxious and cannot function properly.
