Running from what he had just experienced. After having completed the grueling interaction and battle with the tedious Gemini, Victor needed to do something in order to take his mind of parting image the quest had left him with. His body, face, eyes... everything, disintegrating into red pixels, bursting with a finality, into blue crystals before ceasing to exist. The worst was, it was his own doing. Symbolically, it was the game's way of warning him, that his ways of doing things might backfire. It felt like he might be tightening the noose around his own neck. The boy shuddered, for some reason the last moments of the quest had shaken him more than he would have liked to admit, so he ran. He abandoned his personal quest to collect materials and just found himself running away from the creepy spot. He ran till the forest was a blur around him. He stopped only when he was slowed by water under his feet. He came to a splashing halt, with his hands on his knees to catch his breath. Once a little calmer, he looked around. There was a soft gush of the waterfall to his left, in a small clearing, crystal blue water pooled under him. Either the game was a complete mind boggle and was messing with him, or his wish seemed to have been granted. Edited June 23, 2016 by Victor
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) Without thinking twice he waded his way in to stand under the cool stream of water, after it washed away, or rather blunt the edge of the trauma he'd gone through, he sat atop a rock and closed his eyes. The soothing gush of the water fall and the silence around him, soon put him into a state that resembled slumber, except he felt rather conscious. In fact, after a few minutes, he opened his eyes, everything was just as it was... Except there was a light glow behind the waterfall. Intrigued, the boy broke through the sheets of water, throwing the peaceful waterfall into a bit of a turmoil. On the other side, he noticed a white figure less mass floating around. He almost did a double take, it was very similar to the The Gemini NPC right before he impersonated Victor... But this one disappeared soon, leaving behind him four doors. All of them had strange symbols on it. He walked towards the first and examined the symbol. Inscribed at the bottom he noticed the word wrath. There was no going back now. He pushed open the door and went inside. Spoiler Edited June 23, 2016 by Victor
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted June 23, 2016 Inside the room was dark, in fact it was pitch black. Victor attempted to regulate his breath, instead of panicking and squinting at nothingness, he braced himself and relied on other senses. He didn't have to, soon a burst of red took up most of his field of vision. The glare made him close his eyes. Now he was panicking just a little bit, because he couldn't really see the door anymore. But when he opened them he expected to see a large fire monster, instead he noticed a small fiery creature, his head ending somewhere near Victor's hip, with a mean looking face staring up at him. "Ah! I see what this is, you ARE wrath." Victor said almost smiling because it was funny to see such a serious and angry face on such a tiny thing. The creature certainly didn't look like a tough thing to beat. "I guess we have to fight, otherwise I can't get out?" He added.
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) "Correction." The little creature said, with a voice much heavier than one would have expected. "I'm the wrath that lies in you. I may not look like much, but if you're smart, you'll know that I mean business." The look on the brown haired boy's face was priceless. It was true, Victor was not a very angry person, but he had his moments, his anger was like smouldering embers, always there, always ready to burn someone if they came too close and crossed his lines. Wrath glowed like hot coal, he didn't have to do some fancy attack to hurt Victor, he just had to touch him and health points would fall. "You always think you're so calm, don't you, but you know you're not. You have strict unspoken rules, and if someone breaks them you make them pay don't you?" The creature wanted to instigate memories in the player's head, of moments in his past, in or outside the game, when he lost it because of someone did something stupid. He couldn't tell for sure if he was succeeding, the boy's face remained mostly impassive. Edited June 24, 2016 by Victor
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) The boy lost patience. Maybe impatience was a bigger problem with him than wrath. Sure Victor did get angry occasionally, but he usually bode his time and made his move only when the time was ripe and his vengeful damage, critical. Though he did recall one significant fight with his sister, the kind that had made him break her laptop and leave the house prior to completing his college applications. It earned him a bucket load of freedom, but it did have it's drawbacks. In any case, he drew his dagger and slashed through the fiery creature, before the creature had a chance to even touch him. Wrath was already so red and dark, the slice that the weapon had made didn't even show up, the thing just burst into blue crystals. "Yeah all right, I'll work on it." Victor said smugly, to the thin air that hung there. He sighed and looked around, trying to figure out what to do next. Spoiler # 62080 BD: 10 (8+2) ; MD: 1 (4-3) Victor Attacks! Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted June 23, 2016 Across the room seemed to be his next door, it was the only way out of where he currently stood. When he moved closer to the door, through the now dimly lit room, he noticed it was the same door that had been to the left of the one he'd entered not moments ago. It seemed to be the rooms that those thresholds opened into, were now aligned to be one after another. It also meant the only way out was to finish them all, especially since the teen couldn't see any other exit. It was safe to assume he was right, resigned to his fate he squinted at the symbol on the door. It was a weird looking one again, he looked to see if a word was inscribed underneath it, there wasn't. He stared at the indented gold yellow border, and the eye in the middle of it, just like the eye on the last one. This was freaky all right. Spoiler
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted June 23, 2016 The room was dark theme again like the previous one, but this time it was filled with antique furniture. It was dimly lit because the source was a light way high sitting on the base of a large chandelier. Under it there was a large dining table, tainted black ebony wood, from what Vic could tell. He walked towards it and ran his fingers on the surface to tell for sure. He was right. Well this room looked like it catered to his taste, it was the kind of house he hoped to build one day, despite the fact that the interiors had a decent influence from his mom. He wanted to explore more of the mansion, in fact, if this was a place he could visit again, he thought of trying to stake claim on it somehow. He noticed stairs leading upwards to bedrooms presumably. He forgot all about being trapped in here...
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted June 23, 2016 The boy hadn't noticed that the door to the mansion had vanished, but why would he, there seemed to be no perils in here so far. He went to investigate the bedrooms, they seemed well kept. There were soft sheets on them and the blankets were warm and thick. He sat on it, running his hands over the bed, it felt great. It did feel like home. Better than home, because there was no nagging mom, whiny sister or cheating dad that he had to deal with. He wanted to see the other rooms before he picked one for a night cap. In the second room however he noticed a safe. Curiously he opened it and was surprised to find it full of Col, in fact it was so full that some of it flowed out at Victors feet. "Perfect!" He said. Behind the waterfall, after defeating one monster, he had finally found the treasure. His happiness didn't last long though. Soon enough a shadow snuck out of the safe as well. Victor took a quick step back.
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) Greed took its time forming into a proper shape. The shadow settled into the mold of something that resembled a leprechaun, but without the green hat and it also preferred staying in greyscale. He smirked up at the player who'd just entered his realm. "You're so easy to tempt, boy." He said. He walked closer, and flexed his hands to reveal talon like claws. "You've never reflected, have you? Never looked into yourself, have you, boy? " he asked rhetorically. "You're happy living in a trap as long it's comfortable and suits your fancy." Greed went on. He looked away, rubbing his claws together and briefly fit himself back into the safe, shoveling out col from the inside. "You'd take all that and sacrifice men for it too, if it came down to it." The Greed Demon continued, no matter how much he emphasized the point, it wasn't going to be enough. The boy was a collector and he manipulated and played people to look for the most convenient (and preferably free) method to get what he wanted. "Take that fancy gear you've got on, didn't pay a single col for it, did you?" Edited June 23, 2016 by Victor
Victor 0 Posted June 23, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) He saw the pattern now. One would have to be silly to miss it at this point. Luke had to admit, it was a tad bit naive and foolish of him to think that the game would just bestow such a blessing on him with no cost. Besides, this little impish creature was right, much to the brown haired player's disappointment. He had been foolishly tempted and no Victor had never spent any sincere time reflecting, he didn't need to. The world is a large pond and it's survival of the fittest. However as a human, capable of cognition and though, fittest could have a variety of definition. Victor just believed, most other people to be disposable if the end game seemed worth it. He wasn't greedy, just a blue-blooded utilitarian. While he thought all this the vicious creature sprung out from the safe, claws bared. Victor sprung out of the way, slashing with his dagger in his wake. It was enough... And a trail of blue pixels. Spoiler # 62083 BD: 10 (8+2); MD: 3 (6-3) Victor Attacks! Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted June 24, 2016 As the blue shards disintegrated as well, the room dissolved into a black smoke. If someone who didn't appreciate materialistic things, was in that room, they would have ethereal beauty in that moment. Probably enjoying as the items turned to nothingness. For Victor who had unabashedly and embarrassingly, gotten attached to the place in the span of a few minutes, it wasn't easy. He shook the feeling, once the finery and illusion of luxury had all faded, he was left in a room, similar to the kind that he had been in right after finishing Wrath. Surprisingly, the room wasn't any bigger than the last either. Which meant everything was just a set up, moving with him as he had taken to exploring the deceitful interiors of the mansion. With a slightly heavy heart after having lost his dwelling, he moved on, across the room to the door on the other side, once again, it was the only door in the room, it was the only way out. Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Another strange inscribed emblem sat on the door. He stared at it in attempts to decipher what it could be. It was an eight pointed star, with the stars spikes returning to the inside and converging at the omnipresent eye. He frowned and looked for a word. He couldn't quite see it, but he felt like it was chiseled in the make of the door. He ran his fingers over it, but the word was too close together and written in some really fancy calligraphic manner. He especially couldn't make out the first letter and the others seemed off as well. The boy had gathered that it was likely to be some sin again and now he wondered if he'd have to fight all seven before he was out of this rather preachy dungeon. Finally Victor gave up trying to gain an upper-hand by knowing what the sin might be and decided it was time to just, open the door. Spoiler
Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted June 24, 2016 Once inside the room, he noticed there was no part of the room that was not reflective. It was also not under illuminated for once. The space was decently bright, thought luckily the light wasn't sharp enough for him to be blinded at any point or angle. It was a diffused glow that just seemed to be there in the room, he couldn't find any source. The room was now filled with a million Victors. He grinned to himself and cracked a silly joke as he attempted to figure out which sin would he face next. "Envy then? I'm too envious of my perfect self?" He said, his words echoing in the empty space, bouncing across the mirrored walls. That's when it hit him, it was pride. According to the game, the boy was too proud and that was the third sin he'd have to fight. He waited for it, but nothing happened. Or rather he couldn't see that the Victors in the mirror had just multiplied themselves.
Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted June 24, 2016 The NPC had realized that Victor hadn't spotted him yet. So he kept movement to the minimal. Pride also tried to make sure that he kept his motions similar to the original Victor as he inched towards him. Finally upon being close enough it mocked "I would say, 'we meet again' but I'm not The Gemini." Pride clarified, taking a lot of pride in his individual identity as an NPC. "I guess I could be a bit like him though." Pride admitted balefully. "I'm what you think you are Victor." The NPC said, speaking in riddles. "I'm as sharp, as fast, be it blade or tongue... and like you, I know how to wound with both." He continued. He sure was having some affect on the boy, because his smirk had been replaced with something that was either disgust or fear. The boy was still difficult to read. "Fight me. Fight your narcissism and pride Victor" The NPC commanded.
Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Victor froze, he just couldn't catch a break. He wondered if he would have to fight the Gemini again, but then realized that Pride had chosen to take his form as well. If he wasn't terrible annoyed at the situation, he would have alluded to the fact that NPCs like to be him, and why wouldn't they, he was a rather good example of a human form. Tired of listening to the NPCs incessant preaching, he attempted what he had with the other two before. He just swung out his dagger and sliced towards Pride. But the NPC, as promised was as fast as Victor was. In fact it even attempted an attack Vic had mastered not long ago, though like the boy the amalgamation of binary digits missed too. The two now circled each other, if this was just the third one out of seven, Victor was a tad bit worried about its speed. If they got more difficult progressively, just statistically the boy may have a problem. Spoiler # 62118 BD: 5 (3 + 2) ; MD: 1 (4 - 3) Both Victor and Mob miss. Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Pride was pleased that he'd gotten through to Victor more than the others had. If he was reflective at all, the boy would realize that the sins were in proportion to the amount that he possessed them. For that reason Pride was by default a more difficult one to slay that the other two had been. He noticed that the player hadn't come up with any quips or condescending remarks yet. The NPC was foolish enough to think that he was actually changing Victor for the better. .~.~.~. Victor however, was a much tougher shell to crack than his personified sins gave him credit for. He had several retorts to what his doppelganger had said, but he wasn't going to waste his breath on these adversaries. Instead he was working on overcoming the mistake head made in the past. He planned his attack, this time vowing to hit his mark, despite their resemblance, without hesitance. He did and it struck true. Pride's feeble attack right before he died was hardly of any consequence. Blue dust was all that was left. Spoiler # 62123 BD: 10 (7+3) MD: 1 (4-3) Victor Attacks! Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Unsure of how long this grueling game would continue, this time Victor wasted not time. He didn't observe the door, but a cursory glance told him that now the door was simply engraved with the eye, the symbol that had been a recurrent and common emblem in the others that he had seen so far. Hoping to be as efficient as he could since he didn't want to waste time talking to each of the seven sins, he twisted the nob and walked right in. The game seemed to like the theme of black and white. He found himself in a room, very similar to the one with the mirrors, except now instead of the mirrors, plain white walls enclosed to space. It was copious amount of space like the second room had been, but it wasn't small and clammy either. This time he didn't even pay much mind to the surrounding, he just wanted to NPC to spawn so he could drive a dagger through it's heart and move on. Finally an NPC garbed in all black with a hood that left nothing exposed, revealed himself and the guy came at Victor swinging a vicious scythe. The brown haired player ducked out of the attack and instinctively swung his own weapon, catching his assailant somewhere on his torso. Victor had barely had a chance to place the creature in his head. Spoiler # 62129 results: BD: 7 (5+2) ; MD: 3 (6-3)Victor Attacks! Dmg: 5 <<Death>> HP = 2/3 (5 dmg - 4 Mit = 1 dmg) Greed Misses! Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Finally an NPC garbed in all black with a hood that left nothing exposed, revealed himself. As he appeared, Victor was once again reminded of The Gemini and wondered if floor six's amazonian theme was a lie and all it really was, was a deceptive place where people could come and experience hallucinations or deal with some part of themselves or whatever. Things Vic didn't indulge in basically. Eventually, Vic could now make out that NPC was carrying a scythe. "Death?" He whispered to himself, that was inconsistent with the seven sins theme that he had witnessed up until now. Before the enemy even had a chance to speak again, Victor dashed towards it, slashing at the base of the hood, where the presumable neck would have been. Unlike the last three times, where a successful hit with his dagger had resulted in death, this time, this NPC, despite having taken two hits still stood strong. Though his HP was now blinking red. Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) "Look at you, so eager to lash out at your worst enemy." Death spoke calmly, in a surprisingly clear voice. His voice was not raspy or evil. The NPC stood there, incredibly secure in it's existence, despite the blinking health bar. He knew he didn't have long, but he did have to complete his sermon to the boy. "You may think you're strong enough to beat me Victor, but you're not. No one is. Learn to face me and learn that one day you'll lose." The man said. For some reason Victor was a little dazed, he looked puzzled, perhaps a little confused. "You may win this battle Victor, but you'll never win the war." The NPC cried out, right before his Scythe arced in a cruel upper cut, catching the player under his chin. Victor sure wasn't expecting that. "I'll always come for you sonny." Death indicated. "Learn to face me, that's the best you can do, you'll never truly defeat me." .~.~.~. Victor had stood there a little flummoxed, this was obviously not death, it was another personification, Kayaba's simplistic rendition. Yet it spoke with such clarity, it did instill a little fear in the adolescents heart. Finally, when the NPC made it's move, Victor felt all his sins surface. He was angry and wrathful, he was greedy and sought power over his adversary and finally, he felt his hurt pride rear it's head. So much for defeating those sins. With a rare battle cry, he lunged at Death, making his final blow. Spoiler # 62126 BD 10 (8 + 2) ; MD: 9! (Crit) Victor Attacks! Dmg: 5 <<Death>> HP = 1/3 (5 dmg - 4 Mit = 1 dmg) Death Attacks! Victor 0 Posted June 24, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) Everything was black for a bit. For a second he almost thought that he had actually succumbed to death. But he hadn't, when his eyes opened, he found himself sitting on the rock where he had been before he went exploring behind the waterfall. A pop-up window informed him that he had finished the quest 'Calming the Soul' and was rewarded with the extra skill of <<Meditation>>. It all started to make sense now. Briefly, Vic found himself lost in thought, wondering was he truly filled with these three sins? But mostly, it felt good to be back. He had finished two quests in one day and found it to be the most grueling task ever. Still not entirely sure if he was really back in the game, or still stuck somewhere in the depths of his mind, he attempted searching for a sharpening stone, when he didn't find any he was sure he was back.
