[Sp-F6] The enemy of love <<calming the soul>> Itzal <completed>

Recommended Posts

Itzal walked silently through the forest as he made his way over to a waterfall where a quest called 'calming the soul' was found.  Itzal always knew he had an issue with hatred, but he'd never exploded in front of anyone before.  And the fact that it happened in a friendly spar was unthinkable.  Jonathan, the player he sparred with, resigned and suggested the quest before teleporting away without another word.  He said he wanted to see him again in the future, but Itzal knew he intended to do so after he had rid himself of that dark version.  He sighed as his body shook.  Shook from the fatigue that usually came when he was under extreme emotional stress.  Even Velnia looked terrible.  He kicked a stone as he walked and paused when it fell into a small pool of water.  It was then his hearing kicked in again and he heard the roaring of a waterfall.  He made it.

Itzal felt an overwhelming sense of calm wash over him and the dark brooding, and disturbing thoughts that had filled his mind since the duel had almost, almost, washed away completely.  Even Velnia seemed to be filled with energy again and glided over to the water.  She dived in and flipped so she lay on her back and floated around.  Itzal couldn't help but chuckle.  Velnia Velnia he thought.  He walked over and saw the flat stones the quest had mentioned.  All it had said was to meditate on the stones attempting to learn the waterfalls secrets.  Itzal sat down and found that the completely leveled stone was actually pretty comfy.  He closed his eyes and.....  Had no idea what he was suppose to do next.  He had never meditated before and his mind wandered too fast for him to really ponder on something for too long.  The waterfall's secrets.  How on earth was he suppose to learn them?  He worked his brain for what seemed like an hour, maybe days.  When in reality his mind had started the quest in less then five minutes.

Itzal kept his eyes closed diligently, focused on learning it's secrets.  Did it give a skill?  Was it information on a location with loot or a boss?  Was this all a trap or set up?  No.  Jonathan would never stoop so low.  Even after what he had seen Itzal believed that he genuinely wanted to help him.  This was no trap.  It was a real quest.  Still, he wished it had been more specific.  Nobody he had talked to really knew the details about the quest so he had taken it upon himself to learn about it on his own.  So there he sat.  Perhaps he was suppose to have a clear mind for the quest to begin.  He breathed deep and calmed himself.  When he did so he noticed something odd.  He didn't feel the water spraying from the waterfall.  In fact, he didn't feel the waterfall at all.  He assumed this was an effect of the quest at tried to continue calming his mind.  He felt he was almost there when something soft hit his cheek as the breeze blew and stayed there.  Itzal wiped it off without opening his eyes.

He felt at peace.  He had quieted his mind for the first time in his life.  No activity whatsoever.  He had done it.  So....  Now what?  Itzal mentally kicked himself as that started another chain of thoughts.  At that moment he heard a voice that seemed far away, very near, and in his head all at the same time.  It sounded like a whisper.  It sounded like a request, a plead, a command.  It sounded like a snake, like a woman, like a man.

"Open your eyes," it said.

Itzal turned and almost recoiled from what he saw.  A black figure around the same size and shape as Itzal sat a few feet away.  There was no features other than a disturbingly large smile on it's face, and there seemed to be a black mist emanating off of it.  Itzal felt nothing but coldness from the being as hit pointed at him.  It kind of reminded him of the truth from fullmetal alchemist, but a very darker form of it.  The being laughed with a dark yet high pitched voice.

"The truth eh?  Sounds about right."  Itzal's eyes widened but before he could reply the creature spoke again.  "Oh yes, all your thoughts are mine!  You'll find out exactly how soon enough though."  The creature waved it's left hand and four doors appeared.  The first one was tall and intimidating even to Itzal.  Real demon, human and dragon skulls seemed to decorate the entire framework and in the center of the doorway stood a symbol.  A withered hand outstretched for what looked like light at the top but could not reach.  Between the hand and the sun was a skull with rams horns.  The eye sockets pulsed with dark red light.  On the palm of the hand was the Japanese symbol for 'terror'.  Although he had been born elsewhere, he was raised in Japan and knew the symbol better than any other language.  The other three doors were like a mist that outlined the doors, and glowed very faintly.

"Through each door lies a hidden section of your soul that's been kept hidden from you," the creature said.  "Learn from that realm and cleanse it to proceed to the next realm."  Itzal stared at the man for a moment before realizing just how dangerous this quest was.  He was literally entering his own soul.

"Can I prepare before going in?" he asked.  The creature merely laughed before answering.

"You have to ask that?!"  Itzal frowned and pulled out the MIT potion from his inventory.  After drinking it he felt stronger.  He had another potion that increased his hp but he decided that the mit potion should be enough for now.  Still, he put the over health potion with his at ready items.  He knew he could hold up to five potions in a battle so besides the over health potion he had three minor health potions and one greater health potions.  He equipped Retributor and nodded at the creature.

"I'm ready," he said.  The creature grinned.

"We'll see about that," it said as the first door opened.  Itzal took a deep breath before plunging into the darkness.

The door closed behind Itzal.  The room he was in wasn't a room at all.  It was a forest.  What was different about it though was that all the trees were spread out, and they all looked dead but still strong.  The branches were very high up, too high to climb to.  There was no grass on the ground and rocks and gravel was everywhere.  It seemed to be midnight and the clouds covered most of the sky.  A heavy fog sat on the ground and became a wall around twenty feet away from Itzal.  Itzal turned around and saw that the door had vanished.

"So," a chilling voice said.  Itzal turned around but saw no one.  He took a few steps forward and saw that the fog cleared up wherever he walked and closed in wherever he walked away from.  "You've fallen into my lap.  More prey.  Excellent." the voice said.  A cruel and menacing yet calm chuckle emanated from the fog.  The sound of it practically froze Itzal's heart.

"Who are you?!" he demanded.  He heard movement behind him and turned around, Retributor ready to strike.  His eyes widened when he saw a tall man who appeared very strong yet slender.  All he wore was ripped black pants and leather belts on his torso and waist that held up his sheath.  The man's hair was blood red and his eyes pale, colorless and without mercy.  And above his head was an orange cursor.  The man grinned wickedly.

"I'm your worst nightmare," he said.

The player shot towards him at lightning speed so fast Itzal barely managed to evade the attack.  As soon as his foe missed he turned sharply and landed a volley of strikes at Itzal.  He couldn't believe he was fighting a pker!  He knew this would happen eventually but he had hoped that he would be a greater level than this!  Itzal parried and deflected every solitary strike the pker made towards him.  The player seemed to enjoy the fight and pressed harder.  Itzal noted that he was being pushed to a nearby tree and shifted to prevent it.  The player grinned.

"You know your stuff!" he stated.  "But this fight won't last long!"

The player pressed harder and harder, his strikes becoming more adjusted to Itzal's style.  He made a jab for Itzal's face but his armor's evasive stats allowed him to dodge the attack.  The player grinned.

"Pretty useful gear!" he cackled.  "But it won't protect you for long!"  Itzal knew that if the attack had landed it would have dealt some serious damage and he had no idea if this player's sword had bleeding, paralysis or some other effect that could seal the duel.  He continued to fall back, deflecting and blocking merciless blow after blow, with each strike an intent to kill him.  He knew that he could die at any moment.  If he died, he wouldn't be there to warn his friends about the truth of pkers.  If he died his sister would be scarred.  And here he was, just inches away from death's sword.

As the fear settled in the player continued to change tactics, trying to find the weakness in Itzal's style.  Soon Itzal realized that he would die if he didn't kill the pker first.  He tried to focus but his vision was beginning to blur a bit.  His head was spinning and he couldn't take this much more.  Finally out of instinct, he knocked the player's sword out of harms way and stabbed blindly at his target.  After he struck the player backflipped to where his sword had been thrown.  Itzal breathed for a moment and his vision began to clear.  What he saw unsettled him that much more.  The player was touching the scratch on his face like someone desperately in love caressing a kiss from a girl.

"Wow!" he exclaimed.  "That's the first hit I've taken!"  His eyes flashed, cold death emanating from them.  "But that's all you'll land!"  And with that he charged once again.

The pker struck again and again but Itzal kept his blade tight to himself in order to block each blow with ease.  Which it wasn't easy.  The combination of the opponent's speed and Itzal's growing fear made it hard to concentrate and counter the players attacks.  The red player broke through Itzal's defense and sheer terror pierced him right before the blade passed beside his head.  On sheer instinct his arms swung the blade at the player's torso, cutting him again.  This time the player only grunted, a flash of anger on his face before replaced with mad enjoyment.

"Ok," he said through gritted teeth.  "I won't underestimate you again."  His eyes flashed another time.  "I hope your ready to die boy," he spat.  "Because I'm not toying with you any more."

The red player's reaction drove more fear in Itzal right before he was assaulted by an attack force of reserved strength.  Obviously this red player prized himself on being untouchable and now Itzal had pissed him off.  The player struck again and again with no order at all, making him unpredictable.  With the fear in his heart and the player never giving him a moment to rest, his concentration wavered until the player broke through the defenses and struck three times at him before Itzal tripped and rolled down an unseen hill.  The rough ground he rolled on was littered with fist sized stones, creating large bruises as he made his way down.

Before Itzal could get up the red player jumped all the way down and thrust his sword into Itzal's torso, retrieving a piercing cry as a reward.  The player's eyes shined as he smiled and watched the wound appear.  He pulled the sword out and threw it in his helpless foe once again.  Then again.  As he sped up the process, Itzal forced his arm to move.  At first just a twitch, then bent his fingers around Retributor.  When he felt he could move again he forced his sword into the air and scratched the red player's cheek.  That gave him the opportunity to throw a kick out and roll to his right.  He shuffled to his feet, desperate to keep his balance as the world was becoming disorientated.  Fatigue, fear, and determination were at war with each other.

The red player was quick to strike back but determination began settling in as Itzal found some reserve courage.  He struck at the player again but the player didn't make any move to dodge it.  He just let the blade cut his other cheek and struck at Itzal again.  Flinching from the strike, Itzal slashed at the player again, who returned the favor.  They broke into a sudden flurry of small strikes, ignoring the damage and just focused on harming the other.

Finally the two players locked swords, the red player's breath heavy on Itzal's face.  With each breath Itzal could practicallly feal his soul being tugged at.  His heart never ceased it's increase in rate, his lungs burned for more air, and his limbs begged for the pain to end.  Despite that he was in a grave situation, he knew there was one action he must not, and would not, accept:  Giving up.  That thought brought up a reserve strength his body had either forgotten or abandoned and sparked a new strength within him.  He could not let fear consume him, but neither should he dismiss the danger here.  Itzal shoved the red player away from the lock, his eyes mixed with fear and determination.

The red player noticed this change and hesitated his next attack, giving Itzal an opening.  He dashed forward and struck the villain in the torso, near the heart but not quite.  No crit yet.  He pulled it out immediately after, the red player's sword just centimeters away from his face.  The red player roared with anger and charged Itzal, swinging like a lunatic at him.  Itzal deflected the blows and dodged the overly clumsy swings.  He realized that although this player might be a high leveled one, he could just as easily be an equal level as Itzal.

As Itzal made another hit on the red player, another thought came to his mind.  This player had already hit him, but he suffered no bleeding or paralysis.  No pker would ever leave without getting that sort of edge he thought.  And THAT reminded him of how he got here in the first place:  It was a quest.  This wasn't a real pker.  And although he could still possibly die if he was inflicted with enough damage, this pker was probably leveled with Itzal and not as intelligent.  The thought created a spark of hope, though fear still lingered as well.

Although the opponent wasn't very smart, he was smart enough to keep Itzal from landing another hit.  His tactics changed to the defensive which must have meant that he was almost defeated.  Itzal slowed his attacks down, depending on precision to keep his opponent at bay while he thought of a way to counter this new strategy.  As he watched his foe he saw that he wasn't holding the blade close to his body, which allowed for Itzal to make his move.

Itzal was about to make his move when the enemy saw what he was going to do and made a reckless stab at Itzal's heart.  He screamed in pain and felt his hp going down slowly.  At the first drop he charged Retributor and pierced the enemy with snake bite.  The damage decrease stopped after the second drop.  The enemy stood there, shaking.  He dropped his sword and threw his hands onto his head and screamed with all his might.  It was not any human scream either.  As the inhuman cry continued the body of the pker shriveled and turned to dust.  When the last of him was transformed he exploded into flames and erupted everywhere besides where Itzal stood.  After the explosion there was a dramatic change.

He was no longer standing in a forest with rocky ground and no fog took up the space.  In fact, it looked like he was back at home in the real world.  Wait.  He recognized this place well.  It was when he was little, not long after he was adopted.  He was walking with his new parents and spotted something that excited him and he ran after it.  Little did he know that there was fall off with a very weak railing between him and death.  After his parent's saved him they told him to stay away from it, that it was dangerous.  When he was confused they told him that somethings should be feared.  Not to the point of being terrified but feared as in:  respect the danger they pose.  Behind him the door opened once again.

Itzal walked out and heard the door close behind him.  When he turned he saw that the door had changed as well:  The wall now looked like silver, and instead of skulls dotted across the frame, shields and lanterns lined it.  The hand now held a fairly large shield in it's hand that seemed to block a mist that emerged from the demon skull.  He also noticed how the demon skull and the hand hand switched places so that the hand was directly beneath the light.

"So you passed the first test," the creature said.  Itzal turned around and saw that the being too had changed slightly.  Instead of pitch black like the void, it was slightly lighter, a dark gray almost.  It smiled again.  "Now the second door has appeared."  Itzal's attention snapped over to the second door.  This time the door was lined with an odd design.  Spikes pointed toward the centered were blocked by a wavy curved line.  In the center was a figure of a man with a small sword in a pose that seemed to be cocky in front of what stood before it.  A huge menacing monster, with bat wings, demon skull and horns, tentacles, and eyes all over just waiting to destroy the tiny man that stood before it.  Itzal was going to proceed when he remembered what happened the last time.

"What are they?" he asked.  The creature chuckled.

"I'll tell you that bit after you clear this room," his said smoothly.  "I'll explain the rest after the third one's been cleared."  Itzal looked at the creature skeptically but realized that as an npc it could not lie.  He sighed and submitted.

"Fine I'll do it."  The creature's smile widened, which Itzal didn't think possible.

"Excellent.  Hurry up then!"  Itzal sighed and walked to the door.

OOC - O_O  I just noticed that I gave the first demon 4 more MIT than I should have.  I won't change it now but wow.

Itzal walked through the room and the door shut behind him.  He glanced around but found nothing.  Realizing that he still had the over-health potion he considered drinking it but then thought against it.  He might not need it so better not waste it.  He looked around and realized that he appeared to be in a room similar to the floor boss rooms.  He looked around but didn't see the monster at first.  Suddenly a deep, loud and menacing laugh echoed.  He looked but still didn't see anything.  Suddenly he saw it.  In the center of the room he saw what appeared to be a gray furred bunny man with horns, black armor and a two handed war hammer.  And it was...  Two feet tall.  Itzal almost laughed at the sight, which seemed to irritate the creature.

Itzal grinned.  Not only did this look like an easy fight but he'd be so happy to kill a rabbit.  It was slightly difficult last time but he didn't really fight well due to the overwhelming fear that had taken him.  This time however, he was positive that this small bunny should be a cinch.  With his overwhelming passion against bunnies and his strength and skills, fighting this thing should prove no problem.  He rocketed forward with swift speed and swung his blade downward at the creature, striking it between the eyes.  And the blade didn't pass through.  Itzal's eyes widened as he saw that the blade didn't pass through the body, and only made a small cut.  The creature's eyes narrowed and it swung it's own war hammer with lightning speed, almost hitting Itzal but barely missing.
