Itzal 0 Posted August 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) Itzal made his way over to the spot on floor two where he intended to build his shop. The landscape was beautiful and with Emblem's help he had finally managed to remove the clutter that had spread from a storm. It was a calming scenery. Not as calming as the waterfall of course but still calming. He decided not to visit the waterfall because he'd hate to interrupt anyone doing the quest. He walked over to the log he placed for him to sit and sat down on the grass in front of it, leaning his back against the log. Somehow he found a comfortable position and closed his eyes, entering the meditation state. Within a minute he opened his eyes and found himself in Ulises' realm. Usually it was a beautiful realm now that Itzal gave him strength and frequent visits. But today was different. The grass was a dark purple shade, and the silver leaves on the trees were black as night. It was hard to see because the stars and moon were blocked by the black clouds. Dark red light slowly pulsed through the clouds and every now and then lightning struck in the distance. Ulises sat on a large rock with the darker form of Retributor sticking out of it, cracks traveling from where it was pierced. Itzal sighed as he realized that this would be hard for the both of them. Itzal 0 Posted August 2, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted August 2, 2016 "Hey," was all Felix said as he approached his opposite. Ulises said nothing in reply and simply sat there, Niger Natio wrapped around him like a shadow. As Felix drew closer he could feel his other self's pressure. He knew he wanted to be alone but Felix had to do this. He forced himself over and sat down beside him. Since they were the same person they could feel each others emotions. However, he felt nothing from Ulises, and wondered if he truly felt nothing or found a way to block his emotions from him. Felix sat down beside his other self and was quiet for a while. Soon Ulises stirred and seemed to acknowledge his presence. "You want to talk?" Ulises turned his head to Felix. "What's there to talk about Felix?" he asked. Felix frowned. "Don't give me that crap, you know exactly what." He shook his head. "I do not wish to discuss it." He began to turn his head back when Felix flicked his shoulder. "This pertains to both of us so you will discuss it. As long as this is not resolved between the two of us it will drag us down and behind for the rest of our lives. You saw the demons of terror, bitterness and arrogance! I don't want any more ok?"
Itzal 0 Posted August 2, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 2, 2016 Ulises sighed with frustration. Can't he have a little peace in this blasted realm of solitude? Still. He knew he was right. If he never solved this issue, it would grow into another creature Felix would have to fight later. Which would make their leveling progress slow only that much more. "Fine, where do you want to start?" Felix smiled gently, satisfied that they would have a proper discussion. "How about we start with you taking off that hood and mouthpiece?" To this Ulises scoffed. "Why should I do that?" he countered. Felix lifted an eyebrow. "Why shouldn't you? If we are going to have a discussion this deep, we need to look each other in the eyes. No more no less." Ulises fell silent again. "I don't even know if I can," he muttered. "No harm in trying," he replied. "This reflects my personality, it's a part of me!" he growled. "You only got Niger Natio after I entered the game, yet you existed before that." "You can't make me!" he roared and froze in silent when Felix threw them off with quick speed. Itzal 0 Posted August 2, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted August 2, 2016 Felix did his best not to react in any negative way. Ulises looked just like himself except that his eyes were red and his skin just slightly grayer. His hair was darker than Itzal's (though he honestly didn't think that was possible). Ulises stared at Felix in utter shock before closing his eyes with a growl. "There we go," Felix said. "Now we can really talk. Besides the wolves, who are you angry at?" "What are you, a therapist or something?" he growled. "You manage to beat a few demons and you think you can do their job?" Although Itzal hated to admit it he was right. He was no therapist and had no experience in this field. However he wasn't really trying to do so. He was just trying to get Ulises to open up. Once that happened then he could talk with him easily and without issues. "Your ignoring the question," Itzal noted. Ulises finally conceded and sighed. "I'm angry at you and myself," he said. Itzal 0 Posted August 3, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted August 3, 2016 Ulises' fist tightened. It was irritating and infuriating to admit it but he knew Felix would find out soon. "I wasn't strong enough. I didn't see it coming. I provide strength you can never reach don't I? And we just sat there while she was killed by that warg. How are we suppose to save a player if we can't even save a tiny dragon?!" Itzal recoiled at the sudden aggression but recovered quickly. "I see. Yes we are to blame, but I think it's not because we weren't strong enough." "What then?" he challenged. "What else could it be Felix?!" "We weren't working together." Ulises froze up. He never thought about it like that. Felix wanted to test himself by keeping himself calm even with Ulises trying to anger him at every turn. With that agreement Ulises wasn't focusing on anything but Felix. "We need to learn to work together rather than me becoming resilient towards you." Ulises nodded. "That, sounds... Logical." Itzal 0 Posted August 4, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Felix smiled. If Ulises could stop fighting against him, and Felix do the same, and just work together as if they really were one person, which truth be told they were, they would have a better chance at protecting others as well as themselves. Not to mention it gave Felix someone to talk to when he was alone. Felix raised his hand to Ulises, who shook it. Now that the matter was much calmer the storm began to disperse slowly, the light of the stars and moon reviving the beautiful colors of Ulises' realm. "So how do you think we could work together? Call switch or something?" To this Felix laughed. "Ha ha. No no, it would be something like this. You are a second pair of eyes for me. When I'm in the heat of a fight I can rely on you for support. If you notice something I do not you can bring it to my attention. If you have an alternative strategy or notice something about our opponent before I do you reveal it to me." "And you do the same when I fight," he responded. "No offense, but I hope you never have to fight," Itzal replied. Ulises growled. "I'm not going to sit her doing nothing ok?!" Itzal nodded. "That's why we'll spar together, daily." Ulises hesitated then nodded in agreement. "Ok I can work with that. One one condition though."
Itzal 0 Posted August 4, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted August 4, 2016 Ulises had plenty of time to think about this and he knew exactly what he wanted. And he also hoped Felix would concede to his wishes. He wanted it for a while now and was ready to play his card. Felix cocked an eyebrow. "Oh? And what might that be?" Ulises grinned. "My own equipment." Felix frowned. Ulises didn't see why though. "Your own equipment?" he repeated and Ulises nodded. "My own weapon and armor. You have great taste of course, but not quite my own. I'd like something with different enhancements, and you can get a bracelet that works for both of us too." Felix' frown deepened at the last comment. "What do you mean by that? What's wrong with the bracelet?" Ulises waved his hand. "It's a flower bracelet! You should get what I mean! All I ask is something neutral. A verbana colored crystal perhaps?" Felix sighed. This would be an interesting debate thought Ulises.
Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #8 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Equipment for Ulises he thought. Perfect gear made by very talented players was pricey, and he would need materials for when he opened his shop. If he ever got there at least. Then he recalled how Kasier was excited to get music lessons from him and he sighed, knowing he had to do the quest soon. Back to gear however, Felix was considering this. There were five equipment slots and he was hoping to only use them for potions. Not to mention the enhancements he had were pretty close to what Ulises desired as well. "I'll let you make a wearable item that isn't armor or a weapon. Ours fit our needs already." Ulises nodded. That was as good a deal he'd get so he'd better accept it. "Alright, as long as everything about it is my decision and we wear it at all times." Itzal nodded and they shook hands. After that they sighed and sat in silence for a moment. "Now what?" Felix thought for a moment. "We could start daily spars," he suggested. To this Ulises grinned. In this world they could fight down to their last hp and not die. Ulises wasn't full strength of course, but losing this time wouldn't weaken him. "Agreed." Edited August 5, 2016 by Itzal
Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Felix and Ulises took their positions. They both drew Retributor. Felix knew that Ulises intended to use his special technique and strike consistently. He needed to counter that by using as little effort as possible. Ulises had one evasion but not two yet, and he also didn't have one accuracy. He did however have the extra damage so Felix had to be careful. Ulises was powerful and strong, and also really fast, but his weakness was that he let emotions control him more than Felix. Felix hoped that in the future his other self could have a better hold over his emotions. Meanwhile Ulises was hoping the opposite for Felix. For him Felix needed to rely on his emotions more. Sure emotions could get you in trouble if you let them, but they gave strength as well. Strength and purpose. <note: Meditation cannot work while Itzal is inside his own mind> Felix and Ulises stats Spoiler 55/55 hp 14/14 energy 3 MIT 2 evasive 1 bleeding 1 dmg 1 recovery 1 accuracy Spoiler 55/55 hp 14/14 energy 3 MIT 1 evasive 1 bleeding 1 dmg 1 recovery Ulises charged first, striking in no particular order but not using his technique either. Ulises never told Felix, and somehow managed to keep him from hearing his thoughts on the matter, but he had not yet perfected the technique. He was close and the more Felix grew knowledgeable and skilled with the sword so did Ulises. They progressed together, and Ulises felt that once he felt he was close to completing it, the key was to spar with Felix until he unlocked it. It wasn't time to use the technique. Not yet anyway. Still in tight spots it was a good skill to use so he would still use it if he needed to but until then. He relied on unpredictability. Unfortunately for him Felix managed to evade his attacks. Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Felix watched as Ulises struck him with no pattern or tactic at all. In fact it looked like he had taken multiple tactics and jumbled them together, confusing Felix. It puzzled him that Ulises wasn't using the technique he was so proud of. The technique was particularly devastating and a very potent weapon. He went over it in his head. How it worked was the wielder would swing the blade, then let go right after the swing. While that happened their other hand had to be picking up momentum. This was because when the blade was let go of the hand gathering momentum would grab the hilt and preform another swing, therefore following the previous swing almost instantly. The technique was designed to preform a consistent stream of attacks without stopping. Duel wielding could easily replace this technique but the skill didn't exist in this game. Felix saw a mistake and swung his sword at Ulises, using snake bite and dealing fair amount of damage. Ulises growled and Felix knew this battle would last a little while. Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) (so as to not make Ulises look weak, because he's not, this text is based on what happened on Felix' post :) ) Ulises was using a technique that he was also trying to master but he could care less if he finished it or not. This technique relied on confusing the opponent and keep them guessing as to what they would do next. It had offensive, defensive, and counteroffensive techniques melded into one so it could literally be anything. This technique could work perfectly at this basic stage he had right now against an inexperienced player. But Felix wasn't inexperienced. He slid through his mistake and cut him on the side. Ulises growled. He hated getting hit but refused to use his technique. He had to try something else. ID# 65588 BD: 1 Edited August 5, 2016 by Itzal
Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Felix watched as Ulises moved to change techniques and struck again with snake bite. He needed to get as many hits as possible before Ulises fused his raw emotions into his sword. That was when his strength showed. After the second hit Ulises' eyes flared and he charged, his sword striking over and over again with strong yet precise blows. And yet he still didn't use his own technique. He seemed to be using the star wars form anakin uses all the time, and since Felix knew everything about the form, Ulises also had perfected it. The strikes forced Felix to revert to a more defensive style. Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Frustrated at the second strike he instinctively switched to a form he knew perfectly. Striking at Felix with precision as well as strength, this form was designed to break through their opponent with sheer force. That was something Ulises was good at. His passion as well as his strength made him a formidable foe, and he would not go down so easily. He struck over and over, hitting in the right areas in order to force Felix to exert himself and wear him down. No doubt Felix would notice this and attempt to change the situation, but this was the one form Ulises had mastered, so he intended to use it. Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Felix noticed quickly how Ulises was forcing him to exert his energy and stamina and he had to admit it was a very good plan. Indeed Ulises had certainly mastered the form. Felix tried but failed to alter his technique as Ulises didn't give him that chance. There was no nearby trees or hills to give either of them the advantage, as well as no sun to blind either of them. Therefore it was nearly fair. Despite Ulises' mastery of this skill, he was still not at full strength and Felix' evasion was helping him escape Ulises' sword, but that wouldn't work for long. Soon he'd make a slip and he would feel Retributor. ID# 65593 BD: 3 Nothing changes Edited August 5, 2016 by Itzal
Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) As Ulises struck again and again he could see Felix beginning to wane. As it did he made his move. Ulises used the leather gauntlet on his left arm to push Felix' weapon away and released vorpal strike, piercing Felix in the chest and landing a critical hit. Felix staggered back, pulling the blade out of him. Now that the bleeding effect was on him this duel would be over soon. The thought brought a smile to Ulises' face. He'd been planning this but he thought it would happen when he reached full strength or used his technique. Looks like celebrations were due a lot sooner than he intended. Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Getting stabbed by his own blade and feeling the bleeding effect was excruciatingly painful. After backing up he changed tactics and went on the offensive. He waited until the bleeding did it's damage and charged, his sword swinging in an arc. It was a feint attack and when Ulises raised his bade to block he pushed the blade further up, and followed with several strikes that forced the sword's momentum to keep rising until Ulises couldn't hold it. Once the sword flung out Felix slashed like lightning at Ulises' entire body in a star shape, stunning his other self and dealing massive damage. This duel would end one way or another. Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Felix stood above his fallen foe. Despite that it gave him the advantage, as long as his opponent had no intent on killing he would not strike them while they have fallen. He intended to just recover a bit but Ulises spoke. "I forfeit. You've one Felix. I'm happy though, that I was able to get much farther than before." He grinned at Felix, who was shocked at the submit but accepted it nonetheless. It was important to know when you've been beaten so you could see what other options you have. Felix nodded and sheathed Retributor, helping Ulises get to his feet. Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted August 5, 2016 "You really are getting stronger aren't you?" Felix said. It was a statement, not a question. Ulises grinned at the praise given by his opposite. "Finally noticing now eh?" Felix chuckled and shook his head. "Arrogant as always though I see." He recalled the fight and the puzzlement that continued to arise in his thoughts. "Hey why didn't you use your technique? I expected it at every turn but you never used it." Ulises grinned darkly. He wasn't going to reveal his secret. "Not telling." Itzal grunted in response to getting a solid wall as an answer. "Fine be that way."
Itzal 0 Posted August 5, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted August 5, 2016 Ulises sat down as his health and energy recovered. Felix flinched from the final bleeding effect and looked at his chest as the wound closed. "So that's what bleeding feels lilke," He thought. "It does hurt a lot. I feel sorry for Jonathan now." Ulises grunted and waved a hand. "Don't be. No pain no gain remember? If he can't handle that he won't be able to handle the front lines." Felix thought for a moment. "Will we be able to?" Ulises bellowed with laughter. "Of course not! Not right now at least. We need to get stronger first. Once we do we'll be unstoppable!" To this remark Felix' own face darkened. "Demon of arrogance," he muttered. Ulises hesitated then reluctantly agreed. "Fine, Invincible with all the other front liners." Felix continued his gaze until he conceded a second time. "Alright alright, slightly invincible." Felix nodded. Ulises wouldn't give much more ground than that.
Itzal 0 Posted August 6, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted August 6, 2016 "Well I agree with you on strength. If we are to survive we'll need to up our damage and work on our armor too. After that, seeing as how we want to be a scout we can work on search and detect next." Ulises frowned. "What about stealth?" he countered. Itzal waved his hand dismissively. "We can worry about that after. We could use stealth to sit undetected in the boss room. When we see a player who's in desperate need of help we charge in to their aid. We could even set up a new system for the front liners if their ok with it. If we manage to collect enough skilled recruits then we could all be in pairs of two: One to fight and one to prepare or recover. When the one in front needs a moment to regenerate energy or health, or even switch equipment they call 'switch' and trade places." Ulises nodded. "Now that's better," he said.
