Itzal 0 Posted August 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) It had been half a week since the camping trip. It was truly a success to. Alisa was less frightened by monsters and could hold her own much easier. After planting curiosity in her she became interested in parkour. Ever since they had established a hard system for her training: Each morning she would join Itzal in daily exercises that pushed her to and beyond her limit. Although it was obvious she didn't enjoy it she trusted Itzal and he was glad for it. Itzal hated it himself but he had learned quickly in the real world that if he were to escape the bullies he'd have no other choice. After she strengthened enough to practice the basics he'd set up a little training area for her to practice in without receiving fall damage. After she reached the mid way point he'd take her to every high spot imaginable until her fear of heights (if she had one) was quenched. After that would be the final test: To catch Itzal himself. He smiled. It may take a while but Alisa seemed eager to learn, and her curiosity was good too. Every scout needed that. After morning exercises they would go out and fight monsters. She was still nervous at first but she seemed to be getting a better grip of herself the further they went. Once they fought enough monsters they would prepare to set up camp. Itzal had decided that since the camping trip had been so successful they could continue to do so and avoid spending col for the inn. And in Itzal's personal opinion he loved sleeping outdoors. Alisa would always be exhausted by the end of the day, but he was sure that as time went on she would have the stamina and endurance to match Itzal's own. As they walked down the road Itzal spotted a single boar. Recently they had decided for her to take on monsters by herself with Itzal there in case things got out of hand. After she felt she had enough one on one fights with mobs they'd take on a group together with Itzal acting as a tank and Alisa striking them from behind. After they helped develop her sword skills they would work on her scouting. Only after they mastered both of those would he begin training her in stealth. "Alright let's get to work! You know what to do," he said with a smile. He had a plan today though. Something he intended to use to help her fighting style. He couldn't wait. Mossino 0 Posted August 9, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) The last few days had been hard on Alisa. Not because she didn't like what was going on, but only because it was so physically draining. This is mostly due to the rigorous exercise that Itzal had her do everyday. She wasn't even sure if it was helping her because she went to bed tired and woke up tired. But of course this is a game, so some stat someone where being increased. But today it hadn't been so bad, perhaps they did a bit less than normal, or her stamina was coming up. She had seen herself getting better at fighting as time went on. She still wasn't the best, but she had leveled up a few times, and it was getting easier. She was close to ranking up her swords proficiency, which would help her damage as well. Alisa was idly thinking all of these things when Itzal called out to her, pointing at a nearby boar. She nodded towards him and draw her rapier, "I got this!" she states confidently...well...as confident as she can get, which isn't very confident, but she knows she can stab a boar. Itzal 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) Itzal watched as she approached the boar. It seemed to have cocked an eyebrow as if asking, You really want to take me on little girl? Itzal leaned against a large tree with a watchful eye on her, hopefully this motion wouldn't enrage her but tick her off enough to rid herself of what fear remained for this fight. The boar of course was her level so it would not be overpowered in the slightest. When she went off he made sure she saw that Retributor was outside of it's sheath. If the battle dropped her health close to the red zone Itzal would Dash over to help her. Until then he'd analyze the battle and observe each and every slight move his apprentice made. He wanted to see HOW she fought so he could discuss it in detail later. This was a big part of her training. Today they would discover and discuss her style today and later would decide what it needed to be, and afterwards train towards that. Mossino 0 Posted August 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) As Alisa approached the boar, she saw it tilt its nose up at it. What, you think you are too good to be fought by me? Pft, I'll take you on any day. The small played out scene in her makes her smile as she gets closer to the animal. She wasn't an angry fighter, at least not yet. She had no reason to be angry. The boar and the player had a relationship that had yet to be broken. The boar was there to mess around until a low level player came to it. The boar would then fight, and be killed, taken away from this world and the pain of existing in it. Then the player would leave happily and the boar would be gone, no one harmed. Shaking her head, she draws her rapier, looking at the boar with her small eyes. She was looking for a drop in its defense, an area where it wasn't defending. It, of course, like most animals was trying to keep its neck hidden from view, as it is such a vital yet weak point on mammals. Sadly, it showed not real signs of a weak point, so she got in close, and tried to force the boar back, seeing if it would open its defense. Suddenly, it springs towards her some, giving her ample opportunity to impale its head as it tries to scare her off. Seeing as she is about to get a good hit on its neck, her Rapier glows white for a second right before she impacts the boars neck. There is sound of a blade cutting into flesh. Quickly recoiling away, the boar would be seen with a V-cut on the side of its neck. She smiled lightly. Itzal 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) Itzal watched Alisa walk confidently up to the boar and stop with her weapon poised. From the angle he was at he could see her eyes scanning her target. When it fainted a charge it made the mistake of raising it's head, exposing the soft neck beneath. She spotted the fault and charged with a sword art, dealing the max amount of damage she could inflict on the beast. Itzal smiled with satisfaction. That was precisely what a dps was suppose to do: Wait for a weakness to show and strike with all force. Unfortunately due to her weapon being a typical one as well as her low skill, she didn't deal much damage. But he wasn't too worried about that. More damage would come from increased skill level, which would only come from practice. She didn't know how to practice though, which is why Itzal was here. Once she learned enough however, she would be able to practice with the sword on her own. ID# 65801 MD: 3 Edited August 12, 2016 by Itzal
Mossino 0 Posted August 9, 2016 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) She kept focused on the fight, the conversation continuing in her head. 'Ow! That hurt!' That's what you get for underestimating me! She grins at it again, trying to bait it into another attack. The boar was much more reluctant this time, making Alisa have to take the lead in the tango of death. Moving up on it, she quickly went in for a stab on its belly. It wasn't anything great, but her speed outmatched the low-leveled boar and she collided with it, dealing a minimum of one damage. Quickly she jumped back, ready to go on the defensive if it came at her. The boar's time was running out. She just had to make sure it kept making mistakes. If it made mistakes she could easily damage it and push it back. But, she couldn’t make the same mistakes, or she would take virtual damage, which was still lightly painful. ________ Roll ID: ID# 65804 BD 8 Alisa 20/20 HP 3/5 Energy Dealt the minimum of 1 damage. Itzal 0 Posted August 9, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted August 9, 2016 (edited) Itzal watched as she went to a defensive position, keeping the boar away from her. This is where he frowned. Her offense was perfect: analyzing her target and finding his weakness, then striking in the vulnerable areas, though her ferocity and speed could use some work. Her defense unfortunately was to deflect or block all the boar's attacks. This technique was good for normal swords, but with a blade so thin it was almost a stick it wasn't a good plan. In fact doing so would reduce the durability of the weapon quicker, not to mention the force of the attack made it through, even though the damage didn't. He almost flinched as he saw Alisa block a charge and was pushed back an inch. He made a note to tell her this later. As it charged again she deflected it's tusks upward and let it fall back. He watched carefully to see what would happen next. ID# 65806 LD: 3 Boar: 5/10 Alisa: 20/20 <> 3/5 energy Edited August 12, 2016 by Itzal
Mossino 0 Posted August 10, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) After she deflected the boars simple attempt to hit her, she quickly went on the offensive, attempting to push the animal back and get a quick hit in. Her efforts weren't in vain as one of her thrusts pushing the beast back collide with its right ear, piercing it and dealing one damage. With the beast successfully put into place, she steps back, waiting and ready for the next chance to put it out of its misery. She was quick on her feet, and a lot more confident fighting this weak form of mob by herself. Of course, this could all change if it went one hundred percent horribly. But she highly doubted anything of that sort would happen. She was more powerful now, she could deal with this easily…at least she hopes. She didn’t want to get screwed over by a lowly boar! That would just be fully shameful. _____ Roll ID: ID# 65809 BD: 7 Alisa 20/20 HP 3/5 Energy 1 DMG dealt Edited August 12, 2016 by Mossino
Itzal 0 Posted August 10, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) She went on the offensive again, showing once more her perfect form in analyzing, piercing and striking, keeping it back and retreating. Finally she struck it again, another small red dot appearing on it's furry hide and retrieving another squeal from it. It seemed to be getting agitated and charged again. He sighed quietly as just like the last time she changed to a defensive tactic, deflecting and blocking the boar's attacks. It was forced back once again and he would have no problem with the technique, except that it wasn't meant for a rapier. Suddenly something hit him. He realized that the fight seemed slow for him but in truth this would be happening extremely quickly. It was usually because of his analyzing nature. His vision was so focused on the detail at hand that it seemed to slow the fight down for him. He shrugged as it happened for him in battle as well. Reflexes. Mossino 0 Posted August 10, 2016 #10 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) After the boar failed to attack her again, she fell back into the offensive, pushing the boar back giving it no space to recover. Seeing it drop its defenses as she pushed forward, she impales its head, dealing another minimum damage hit. This time, instead of falling back, she stayed up on it, tempted to just dodge the next attack and keep the attack on. She had this, just had to keep winding it down. The closer and closer she got to defeating the boar the closer and closer she got to one hitting it. She could do an attack that dealt two damage, she just had to get it to that HP range. Which was nearby, but hopfully she could score a critical hit and end this more quickly. She could only hope the boar would make such a mistake, and allow her to get a shot off on its weak neck. _______ Roll ID: ID# 65812 BD: 8 Edited August 12, 2016 by Mossino
Itzal 0 Posted August 10, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Itzal watched as she continued to charge the boar and frowned. If she wanted to stay on the offense she should have waited for the boar to charge first. This way she could step side it and stab at it again as it passed by, pulling and 'olay' so to speak. As it was it jumped to it's right, evading her strike and ran at her legs, causing her to fall over. He heard a solid thump followed by an 'oof' but she quickly recovered, switching to her defensive measures as the boar rounded on her again. If one wants to be on the offensive all the time they have to learn how to dodge, evade, and parry blows. Most people didn't understand what he means by parry most of the time. What he means is using the blade to change your opponent's weapon's direction so that it doesn't hit you. It's a hard to master tactic but a vitally important one that many people gloss over. But he would explain that afterwards. ID# 65813 MD: 6 Boar: 3/10 Alisa: 17/20 <> 3/5 Edited August 12, 2016 by Itzal
Mossino 0 Posted August 10, 2016 #12 Share Posted August 10, 2016 She stood back away after she got rammed into by the boar. That hurt a bit, but far less than the first time she did. Preparing herself, she moved in to strike again, getting a bit sloppy, but still looking for weaknesses in its defense. But, the boar makes the worst mistake of its life. It snorted at her, and started to move towards her, and then charged, feeling cocky and confident that it will hit her again. Sadly, Alisa saw it coming from the body language it was giving off, and quickly side stepped it, her rapier glowing a bright white. In a flash there is two swipes of her rapier, and the sound of glass shattering. The boar exploded in front of her, and was killed. She scored a critical hit. Sadly, it seemed like she got no loot from that kill. Itzal 0 Posted August 10, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) OOC- Unfortunately as long as I'm in the thread with you, and it's not leveled with me, we won't be getting loot either way :( Once your skills are higher as well as your level, and we get you some equipment you can try easy solo playing with one monster each fight. Each non combat post restores 3 hp and energy Itzal smiled in return as she approached after her victory. She was definitely improving but once again he needed to talk to her about her technique and the small flaws he had discovered. He still had his own flaws of course, but he was close to mastering over them. He knew they'd find plenty more flaws as time moved on but wasn't necessarily worried about that small point. Already he was deciding what sort of style she should have. Technically rapiers couldn't even parry due to the blade being so thin. However, if her blade was a quarter the size of his own blade, it could be thick enough to parry, but deflecting would still be a risk, and thin enough for the exact purpose of a rapier: constant jabs and stabs at the opponent's weak points. He wondered if she'd like that sort of weapon. With all the exercises she's been doing too, it should feel light as a feather. "You did well Alisa! If you want to, we could do another." Mossino 0 Posted August 10, 2016 #14 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) She was rather happy that she did so well. Didn't miss once and kept the attack up. It was obvious from her expression that she was rather proud of herself. After a second she responds to Itzal, "Let's wait a second while I rest up, then I can, I hope it was satisfactory, " she states, giving him a wide smile. She found fighting fun, but she knew one thing. After finishing the basics with Itzal, she would need to power level cooking, her own level, and get lots of col and mat to buy gear she wanted. She knew what kind of Rapier she wanted. It was a thicker yet still light one that could keep the fight going at light range. Her armor however was more of a mystery. She didn’t know exactly what she wanted, perhaps Itzal-senpai could help her with that later on in the future. Edited August 12, 2016 by Mossino
Itzal 0 Posted August 10, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Itzal smiled at her and nodded, leaning against a tree branch. A little pride in your work was never a bad thing, but cockiness, as Itzal knew all too well recalling that bunny thing he had to fight in the quest calming the mind, was not good on any level. "Alright no problem. So you mentioned you wanted to become a cook correct? I know a quest that will get you the materials and knowledge, as well as the skill, you need for that. I'm warning you though, if you get that quest before I do I'll go crazy," he finished with a grin, indicating he was joking. "It's called earning a living. I can help you after a little bit. If I do though, I'll be hoping for good food when we camp." He chuckled. He decided that he would wait until after her second boar to explain her mistakes in swordplay and discuss her equipment... Before they went to purchase them later. Edited August 12, 2016 by Itzal
Mossino 0 Posted August 10, 2016 #16 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Alisa grinned back at him, "You do realize I want to take that quest like, right now." she states, giving him a friendly smile. "But yes I'd love to become a cook! Then I could make boosts and such for everyone on the front lines, and tasty snacks for myself." As she says that last part, she slightly blanks out, thinking of all the sweet foods she could make her self in the future. A few seconds later she shakes her head, her cheeks going a bit red from spacing out that much, "Erm, anyway..I can fight another boar, so when you are ready we can move on." She gave him another light smile. She wondered when she could start doing some of this by herself. Fighting mobs, getting loot, stuff like that. She just had to finish the basics with Itzal then she could starts her own path as a solo player. Edited August 12, 2016 by Mossino
Itzal 0 Posted August 10, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Itzal nodded. She was eager to get the quest and as a friend he wanted her to get it. As her mentor however he did need to teach her how to be patient. As an apprentice scout it would be vital to her success. Especially when they reached the stealth stage. As they moved from assignment to assignment he hoped more and more to see the curiosity inside her grow. It was another great attribute to a scout after all. A scout is suppose to scan the area ahead and gather intel on any level. Usually for the front lines this would mainly focus on the boss, but everywhere else it would also involve the location of sub-dungeons or dungeons in general. When she mentions taking another monster on he nodded and motioned for her to draw her blade. He scanned the area and spotted another lone boar. He nodded his head to it. Mossino 0 Posted August 10, 2016 #18 Share Posted August 10, 2016 Alisa smiled at Itzal. She was building a confidence but of course, these enemies could barely beat her. She would have to let it hurt her. And on top of that Itzal was there to help her if something bad happened. Itzal would have to do something where he makes her fight mobs completely alone at some point. Maybe her final test, no help, just herself, and the enemy, or enemies. But, that was beside the point. There was another boar to fight, and she was ready to fight it. Drawing her rapier she approach it, making enough noise to alert its presence. The animal turned towards her, wondering what this girl wanted to do with it. Sadly, the girl wanted to kill the boar, and was going to have an easy job at it. Watching the boar carefully, she looked for imperfections, a slip in its defense, an area it wasn't checking. She wouldn't have to wait for too long before the boar out of the blue charged at her. But, the human's reaction time was much better and she dodged to the right, her rapier glowing white as she slashed the boars neck. She made two simple cuts as she cut a "V" into its neck. Itzal 0 Posted August 10, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Itzal watched as she approached the boar with confidence. As she did he recalled an idea he was preparing. Her final tests. He wanted to set them up in a way that would challenge her physical ability, her tactics and strategies, and her mental and moral state. Calming the mind would be the mental and moral phase of the test. He'd have to give her an MIT potion to make sure she can't get out until the quest was over, but the point of it, in Itzal's mind, was for it to be a moral challenge as it was for Itzal. Ironically it was that very quest where he first met Ulises face to face. Every now and then at night when Alisa sleeps he would go into a meditation state to visit his other self. He shook his head back to reality and watched as Alisa struck the beast with a powerful attack once again and watched as the beast crumbled to it's belly from the blow. But, as she is confidently bringing the sword down on the boars head. But, her over-confidence blinds her because she failed to notice the boar moving away. As she impales downwards the boar moves out of the way very suddenly, making her jerk and impale her sword into the earthy pixelated ground as she falls to the ground. She attempts to get herself back up, with a look of annoyance on her face, but it gives the boar ample time to attack her. Putting her hand on the hilt of the sword, she attempts to use it to get herself back up, but sadly it just sinks it further into the ground, making her stumble again. Gah what a stupid hit attack!
