[Sp-F2] Midnight collection <Itzal> completed

Recommended Posts

Itzal couldn't sleep.  Not only was he thinking about his pupil, but he was also thinking about the guild, his place in the world, and many other things.  It was nights like this where it was impossible to sleep.  Although it was fine to miss a night or two, he believed it important to get as much sleep as possible.  On the other hand he had experienced that if you have too much on your mind you shall get no rest from sleep.  Thus he walked the forest at night searching for materials while he thought.  He didn't even have his sword out.  By this point all the wolves were used to his presence and didn't run from him.  They didn't have the slightest thought of attacking him of course, not after what Ulises pulled off on their warg leader in their den, but they knew he wouldn't attack them either.

Itzal scanned the ground for any suitable material that he could either use, or give to Adhae or Xion.  As he looked under the guiding light of the stars and moon he spotted a berry bush with a few left.  He smiled but as he walked over a wolf appeared from nowhere and began eating what berries were left.  When Itzal stopped, disappointed the wolf noticed him and whimpered out of fear.  Itzal waved a dismissive hand and it returned to it's midnight snack.  Looks like he'd be competing with the wolves and their noses.  Wonderful.  Still, it gave him an opportunity to practice scouting.  He needed his eyesight to be sharper than any other after all.  He moved past the wolf and kept looking.

Itzal thought about the training and how it was going.  After a week Alisa had begun growing in confidence, slowly and shakily, but surely.  She struggled under the amount of exercises he had given her but so had he when he trained himself.  The only difference was she had no idea what was required and what it took in the future whereas he had.  It didn't matter though.  She had the drive and the passion and that's what it really took.  You can't do something well if your heart isn't in it.  Her weapon skill was coming along as well.  She wasn't as fast as Itzal yet, but he knew it was only a matter of time before she exceeded even him in that aspect.  He knew that although short people couldn't make long strides like tall ones, their bodies made less resistance to the wind and therefore allowed them to match speed.  Alisa's body was more slender than Itzal's too.  All in all by the time her training was complete she might be a blur.

Itzal grinned when he spotted a large gem on the ground and picked it up.  It looked like a player decided he or she couldn't use it so they ditched it.  Lucky him.  One down.

Itzal felt a breeze and rubbed his chest.  Man was it cold.  Then he recalled something.  He smacked his head for his stupidity.  He went to his inventory and switched Niger Natio out with Twilight cloak, something a custom order he made at Ariel's shop.  As soon as it materialized around him he felt real warm again.  He sighed with content.  It was truly a blessing to have this cloak.  He looked up and noticed a plant he had never seen before.  He picked it and realized it was one of the game's invented plants.  He smiled and stored it in his inventory.  Gear.  They needed to get better gear.  The first they needed was gear for combat.  That's what Itzal had collected:  Niger Natio and Retributor.  However he then later had Twilight cloak made.  He also needed a trinket with buffs, one for combat and one for searching, but he couldn't do that currently as it was hard to find an artisan.

He already had the perfect items he wanted.  First he needed to replace the Verbana bracelet that finally gave way.  This time it would be made of green metal with purple gems in the shape of verbana flowers that enhanced his sight even further.  The second would be a ring made for combat, giving him more evasiveness but mainly boost accuracy.  He smiled as he thought of the buffs the two of them would give.  With the bracelet and cloak he could spot nearly everything, and with the ring, sword and armor he would hardly miss or be hit.  He had the perfect names for them as well:  Aimi's heart and Oblivion ring.  He grinned as he spotted another item:  a crystal for recording and added it to his inventory.

His thoughts now traveled to his plans for his shop with the crystal reminding him.  He would probably play instrumental songs for non ordered songs, seeing as how some players didn't like certain songs and he wished to sell as many as possible.  He would have some sample songs of course, songs that didn't give buffs on the shelf that players could play.  He would also play songs at parties and weddings for a small fee, but for funerals the fee would be extremely minimal.  One or two materials probably.  He smiled as he spotted another crystal and added it to his inventory.

He stretched for a moment.  The night was still young but he still had plenty to think about.  The guild was one of them.  They were thinking about calling it Twilight Spectrum which was starting to sound appealing for Itzal, though he still wished he had a guild called the arcane brotherhood.  Alas it would never be.  The guild's purpose was to help players in low levels to rise up to whatever they wished to reach, whether it be the frontlines, or simply supporters for the frontlines, providing materials, opening a shop, etc.  He paused as he spotted yet another material.  This time however he gasped as it was an ore of extremely rare quality.  He smiled brightly as he placed the ore in his inventory.

As he placed the ore in his inventory he heard a loud snort and looked up.  There was a pretty good sized boar in front of him.  Itzal frowned and was about to change to his armor but that would give the boar time to attack first.  The boar noticed this and narrowed it's eyes, preparing a charge.  Itzal drew Retributor slowly and just as fate would have it, the clouds dispersed from the sky and the full moon's light lit up the small break in the forest as if it were day.  Itzal watched as the boar shot forward.  Usually he'd dodge it swiftly but he let it hit him.  As soon as it did he pierced at it with Vorpal strike his blade glowing dark red as it cut through flesh into it's hide and threw it across the grass.  It wasn't a critical hit, but that was only because he was giving the boar ONE chance to escape.

Itzal waited for the boar's response.  After the strike it let out a loud squeal and rolled onto the ground, striking the base of a tree.  It lay there unmoving for a moment, allowing Itzal to see that his health was down to half.  It rose to it's feet and was infuriated.  Itzal shook his head.

"Don't do it," he warned but the boar charged anyway.  Itzal was impressed as the creature was not only zig zagging but also kept it's tusks in a position that would allow it to block or deflect his incoming blade from any direction.  Itzal dodged the boar and it swung to the right faster than he could pierce, therefore evading his attack.

As the boar turned around it charged the exact same way it had last time.  Itzal tried to land a hit but it moved away from him and deflected the end of Retributor with it's tusks.  The deflect caused him to lose balance a little, removing the ability to strike a second time, but the boar was also too far to attack again.  As it came around though Itzal knew what to do.  He feigned a strike and saw which direction the boar was heading, changing the start of his attack to hit the boar.  It used it's tusks again but this time Retributor made a painful scratch on it's back, retrieving another squeal from the creature and landing bleeding.  Now Itzal just had to wait.

Itzal saw the monster flinch from the bleeding effect and it's eyes went wild as it entered the red zone.  It charged without hesitation and Itzal stabbed at it.  The boar refused to dodge it and let the blade sink into it's shoulder, ramming square into Itzal's chest and knocking him back.  Without his armor on he felt the impact for real, though he knew his armor skill would keep him from receiving too much damage.  He got to his feet quickly and deflected the boar's tusks, driving it away.  Just one more moment...

The boar charged ruthlessly again, but this time Itzal moved away.  It still struck him with it's tusk but it had no crit on him this round.  After that strike it cringed as the bleeding finished it off and shattered into pieces.  Itzal saw the loot menu pop up and was amazed at what he received.  Three hundred and forty col as well as two materials!  Itzal smiled widely at this fantastic surprise.  He stored them in his inventory and checked his cloak.  Thanks to the games mechanic's it didn't rip or tear from the boar's attacks, and the material Ariel used was very strong and thus the durability didn't even drop.  This cloak was a wonder he thought.

Now that the fight was over Itzal sheathed his sword.  It was then he noticed a small crowd of wolves who had watched the fight and now moved away.  He knew what they were thinking.  Despite the fact that they couldn't touch him they would still hope something else might.  He sighed as he didn't really care and tried to recall what he was thinking of before but shook his head as he just couldn't recall.  He made his way through the woods again searching for suitable materials and found another large recording crystal.  He placed it in his inventory.

Of course it was that precise moment when he heard the brush rustling violently behind him and instinctively jumped.  As he hung in midair he spotted another boar that had tried to ram him.  He narrowed his eyes, frustrated and used Vorpal Strike, piercing it's heart.  It wasn't a critical hit but the force of the blow, the surprise that it's surprise attack failed, and running headfirst into a large tree drew a very loud squeal from the beast.  As Itzal landed he shook his head at the boar.

The boar shook it's head and glared at Itzal with hatred.  It charged him and did the same thing with it's tusks as it's partner had.  Itzal was ready for it though and pulled something off that the boar could never expect.  He jumped, then jumped off of the boar's tusks and slashed at it's back just right of it's spine, landing a critical attack and giving it the bleeding effect.  The monster squealed and turned around violently but he was already jumping into the lower branches of the trees, way out of the boar's reach.  If he could sit the rest of the battle he would feel better.

Itzal sat there as the boar squealed in frustration and rage, running in circles around the tree.  Soon the red pixels appeared and it flinched.  Now that it's health was in the red zone it's expression went darker to a murderous glare.  It ran away from him and turned around, preparing for a charge.  As it ran at the tree Itzal jumped to another.  What he didn't expect was the boar to change it's direction and then release a hidden burst of speed at the next tree.  Itzal however was faster and leaped to the next tree just before the boar knocked the one he was previously standing over with the force of it's blow.

Itzal landed on the branch with ease despite the surprising loss of his tree and turned around quickly.  As soon as he spotted the boar he lunged after it.  As he dived through the air the bleeding kicked in and froze it in place, just as his blade pierced behind it's skull and into the center of it's head.  There was no squeal this time as the creature shattered.  He sighed as no loot menu popped up and sheathed his sword.  Despite that there was no loot he did gather some boar meat from the incident.  Some food for Adhae to cook, or Alisa.  She was after all going to be a cook.

As Itzal opened his menu to put the meat in his inventory he was surprised to see that it was almost five in the morning.  Had he been up that late already?  He sighed and decided that after one or two more materials he'd head back to floor one where Alisa and Itzal had made camp.  Although he knew she was a heavy sleeper he made sure to place a note there just in case she woke up, saying how he was scouting the surrounding area.  Yes it was technically lying but it was meant to make her feel safe and secure.  Not to mention that if she woke up and started looking for her, the wolves would probably tackle her as well as any pker lurking around.  He spotted another herb and placed it in his inventory without a second thought.

Suddenly he wondered.  How many friends did he have?  In the real world the only 'friend' was a fellow gamer who had played the beta version of SAO, but hadn't played the release since his family had to go on a business trip.  Lucky for him then, he thought.  He wasn't trap in this death game.  He wasn't sure if his friend could survive or stay sane in this game.  He wasn't the strongest of people after all.  Itzal on the otherhand was split on the topic.  He loved this game and would give almost anything in the real world up to stay here.  Almost that is.  If this world wasn't a death game he would gladly invite his sister and two parent's to join him in the world of Aincrad.  Seeing as how that would never happen and how he along with many other players sought to see their loved ones again, he would fight until they saw the true light of day rather than a code.

Itzal sighed as he looked at the moon.  This world was beautiful, wonderful, amazingly created.  Yet it lacked something the real world lacked.  The population couldn't grow for one.  And in this world npcs could be an excuse to kill things, which could easily lead to the death of a player.  It was a good world but nowhere close to the original.  Nobody could do better than God he thought.  Nobody could replace him either.  They could try.  They could try gaining all the power and influence in the world.  They could even make a world of their own like sword art online and rule it like a god.  But they could never truly replace him.  He began making his way over to the teleport pad, ready to return to his apprentice and go to sleep.
