Itzal was once again on the first floor.  He'd been here for a few weeks simply so he could mentor Alisa.  Tonight, while she was sleeping, he'd do something he needed to do.  His entire time in this death game had been spent mainly being attacked by wolves.  That is until he found the heart of their den a few weeks back, before he met Alisa and killed the warg, the apparent leader.  Ever since they had left him alone.  Now of course another mob was pulling the same stupid thing.  Boars.  The most pitiful monsters in this stupid game but he didn't care.  He'd teach them the same lesson.  Alisa never woke during the night but he always left a note telling her to stay put until morning.  Currently he sat on a low branch in the center of the forest.  He was waiting for something important.  Then he spotted it.  A wolf was doing it's usual night walk, looking for unsuspecting players to strike or food in the bushes.  Itzal had a thick twig in his hand and threw it at the wolf.

The wolf yelped from the hit but it wasn't anywhere near close to harming it.  It growled and looked up.  When it did the growl turned to a whimper.  Itzal's mouthpiece was down this time, and for a reason.  He was frowning.  With his upper features shaded in total blackness and his lower features showing nothing but a frown, the wolf knew not to do anything stupid.  Still it thought, his sword was sheathed.  He could have come on a friendly basis.  His next question showed that it was strictly business.

"Any idea where the boar's leader is?"  Itzal asked.  The wolf looked confused and Itzal rolled his eyes.  "Big boar!  Where?"  Basic words were obviously implanted into the coded creature's name and it looked in the direction of the cliff.  Itzal frowned but did not argue.  The cliff?  He had been over there multiple times already.  Could he have missed something?  It was always possible.  He never believed in solid one hundred percentage.  It was a necessity if he was to survive.  Nonetheless he thanked the wolf, who quickly made it's way out of the area, and over to safety.

As Itzal made his way over to the cliff he scouted the area for any sort of material.  Even on a mission like this he did so, keeping an eye out for his enemies as well.  This was because no matter where he went or what he was doing, he planned on training his eyesight and scouting skills to the max.  Unlike most, to whom this was a chore, for Itzal it was normal.  He spotted two large apples ripe for the picking and grabbed them as he passed by.  Once he reached the edge of the forest where the cliff was he sat on the branch and bit into one of the apples while storing the second one.  There were four boar in the area so he might as well clear them out so he could scout without worrying about them.  Once they were dealt with he'd scan the grounds around and take a peak over the cliff.  He might even climb down to see what was down there.

Itzal finished his apple and waited a moment for it to reach his stomach.  Once it did he jumped off and drew Retributor, drawing the boar's attention.  They looked at him warily then recognized him.  This was the player who'd been making a fool out of them by sitting back watching while his little minion took them out, as if they weren't worth his attention, too low for him to fear.  His mouthpiece would be down for the remainder of the night so the boar could tell he was bored, only infuriating them more.  These were the easiest mobs he knew, but since there would be many of them it could take some time.  He stood between them and the forest and stabbed his sword into the ground.  "Alright, let's get this over with."  Seeing as how he wasn't taking them lightly whatsoever, and that did it.  Outraged they charged him.  He waited for the last moment before moving off to the side just enough to avoid them.  Once they all passed him he pulled his sword out and waited.

Itzal waited for them to charge again but they didn't.  If they had they would have risked running off the cliffside.  Instead they made their way around and attacked from the side.  They're learning like the wolves did before he killed their leader he realized.  This meant he had chosen the right time to show them their place, or else they might slowly grow to his level of understanding.  He jumped and scratched one of the boar with his sword, dealing minimal damage.  This might actually be a long fight he realized.  He also realized that he needed to increase his damage if he was going to get anywhere at all.  Grandmastering his sword would be the obvious step, since it would give him base seven attack and the highest sword arts, but what he really needed was a sword with more damage added to it.  Perhaps a sword with two damage and one bleeding.

After the move he pulled he had positioned the four boar closer to the cliff edge than he was.  Unfortunately their numbers kept him from pushing them closer.  They all charged him, confidant now that they had no fear of falling off of a cliff should they make such a move.  He used his sword to deflect and parry their tusks, knocking their heads aside but as soon as he deflected two of them, the other two would slash with their tusks.  If not that they'd prepare another charge.  He recalled the time Alisa was using her rapier to block and deflect the attacks of the monsters here.  He knew it was a mistake as a rapier wasn't nearly sturdy, heavy or wide enough to do so.  His blade however, was born for this.  The width, the length, and the weight was all a perfect shape and balance for this specific job.  As he deflected and parried he also made sure to keep his blade close to his chest, giving him the ability to keep them just at bay without using up more than enough energy.

The boar were putting up a pretty good fight, working together flawlessly.  As he blocked/deflected/parried one boar, pushing it back a bit, two others would strike with their tusks, and the previous one blocked would attempt another charge.  This kept him going at a rapid pace and they knew he couldn't keep at it for long.  However there was one thing their foolish, nut sized brains missed completely:  The extra weight of his blade.  With each parry and deflection, the weight made a minor shockwave against their soft flesh, with the force of both the sword and Itzal's momentum behind it.  With each blow he could see them getting knocked back further, charging slower, sometimes even flinching.  Soon enough they became slow enough for him to press forward.  Eventually landed another hit on the same boar, cutting it just above the ear.  The pig squealed in pain and retreated long enough for him to knock the other three aside to give him a split two seconds to breath.

The other three charged furiously at seeing their partner harmed and Itzal was driven back again.  This time he began to retreat backward as quickly, but as safely as he could.  He intended to use the trees to his advantage, have the mobs run into them, climb and escape them, etc. but as he glanced back he frowned as this wasn't the best idea.  Eyes of wolves watched the battle, secretly rooting for the boar to win.  They didn't dare oppose Itzal by themselves, but neither did they care for Itzal.  They wanted him dead but without the risk of their own being killed.  True they would just respawn but they had no idea that would happen.  Not to mention he had shown how vicious he could be to his enemies and they had a feeling he was doing the same with the boars.  Itzal changed tactics and jumped over the boar, cutting the same one on the shoulder and returned to defensive measures as they rounded on him again.

Itzal had zero time to analyze the situation when he landed as all four boar resumed their harsh attacks, driving him backward again as he attempted to parry and deflect them all.  Eventually he found himself doing nothing but blocking, given not enough time for even his advanced reactions to kick in.  As they pushed him back his mental gears were turning viciously and recalled the cliff and how they refused to charge him when he was near it.  Unfortunately as they approached the cliff he realized they hadn't been charging for a while, but had been using their tusks to drive him back.  Finally he realized something.  At the level he was it wouldn't matter if he received a bit of damage now.  He stopped defending himself and stood firm.  This caught the boar by surprise and although they scratched him with their tusks they slid past him, the already damaged boar being awarded another cut in the process.

Reminded now that he was superior to these pigs he felt a new strength rush through him.  He smiled.  Ulises was powerful and drew strength from passionate emotions and thoughts.  Since Itzal was close on the neutral ground between his own beliefs and Ulises' they were able to share power.  Ulises presented a few tactics for Itzal to consider and he decided on one.  He swung his sword around and grinned at the boar.  Eager to get revenge, as well as escape the cliff's edge, the three boar rushed forward to strike him in the same pattern they had pulled before.  Only this time Itzal was ready.  As they approached he swung his sword in an uppercut towards one of the boar, then let go and did the same with his left hand to another boar, knocking them off their feet and on their backs.  As the sword hung in the air it glowed dark red as he prepared his sword art and waited until the other two boar had passed him just enough for him to have all four boar around him.  Then he jumped into the air and released vertical square, hitting all four simultaneously and heard a piercing cry of pain from all four as bleeding sank into their code.

He landed further from the cliff and watched as the four boar recovered from the hit.  The eyes of the boar he hit flashed angrily at him as it's health had dropped into the red zone.  It was the first to charge him.  The creature charged and Itzal knew a simple step side wouldn't work.  The boar in this state would change direction when it saw his movement to prepare.  Instead he added a little something.  As he step sided he used his blade to knock the monster's tusks away from him, swinging after him but barely missed.  He didn't have time to strike again as the other three boar were on him now as well, striking over and over from the front and slowly surrounded him.  Soon his blade was slipping from one hand to the other, barely swinging fast enough, knocking each tusk away from him, a little too close for comfort.

Itzal knew that the second and last bleeding would take effect in a moment.  He also knew that the boar's would recover quickly, too quickly for him to strike back.  So instead he decided he'd make a getaway.  The moment the bleeding kicked in they flinched for a second and charged him out of rage as they were all now in the red zone.  He had planned on this however and jumped up, pushing off of the nearest one and away from the group.  When he landed he had his sword ready but that was just in case.  As they rounded on him again he kicked dirt into two out of four of the boar's eyes.  The two unblinded ones, who managed to see it coming, charged at both sides, causing him to once again keep his blade close to his torso to make sure he could cover all ends with ease.  Slow and steady wins the race he thought.  They were sure to run low on energy soon.

As he suspected they were beginning to run low on energy.  The boar with the lowest health however was going to hit him no matter what happened.  It shoved through Itzal's defenses and managed to lay a scratch on his arm.  Barely flinching from the strike he cut the boar along it's side and it's shattered crystals scattered behind Itzal.  The other boars attack ed more ferocious now and each began to gain ground.  Once again he was being driven closer to the edge of the forest where the wolves sat, their angry eyes cheering them on.  The moment Itzal had turned to see where he was heading the three boars broke through his defenses and landed a hit on him and he returned his focus to them, swinging his sword in a large arc and hitting them with the flat of his sword to knock them back.  While they got up he took a second or two to breath, then took his ready stance.

The three boar charged once again but this time Itzal had an idea.  He waited until the last second, keeping his defensive position up, then jumped over the boar and rolled across the grass.  He heard the sound of surprised wolves and turned.  He was pleased to discover that the boar were surprised and furious to see the wolves and swung their tusks around before recalling the player and shot their attention at him again.  He was in the center of the field with his blade out and waiting.  They roared with hatred and charged once again.  As they charged Itzal felt a little energy return but it wasn't time to use it yet.  Not to mention he hadn't even reached the boss yet.  He waited for the three boar to approach before they resumed their mock dance, boar's striking from each side and Itzal parrying and deflecting every one.

Itzal was getting real tired of this and was ready to end it once and for all.  He leaped into the air and used vertical square, striking each boar and ending their lives with a single stroke.  As he landed he noticed the loot menu and looked up to see what he received.  Seven hundred and twenty col?  Not bad he thought.  He groaned as he felt the ache in his body and decided it would be best to sit down for a moment.  He glanced at the forest and noticed the wolves leaving, disappointed but not surprised that Itzal had slain the boar, who were technically weaker than them.  Itzal knew he needed to rest before heading off to find the boar's hideout.  He leaned against a lone tree and let his sword drop to his side, breathing heavily as he accepted the loot.  This was getting tiresome, fighting multiple mobs by himself like this.  Not that he couldn't handle it but it was taking a while and he didn't really have time for this.  When he reached an even higher level where his damage was much greater and his energy higher, than he could destroy a group of four without any issue at all.

He saw a flower nearby and picked it up.  Seeing that it was a material he placed it in his inventory.  Itzal began to close his eyes and felt Ulises' presence.  He entered a meditation state so he could speak with him in person for a bit.  He could still detect movement elsewhere, but overall his focus was in his own mind.  As he entered his alternate form's realm he looked around.  He had done a little more redecorating.  Itzal was looking at a building's foundation and was pleased that Ulises was finding something to do with his time in here.  He crossed his arms as he looked at Ulises.

"Well?"

"Their getting smarter, like the wolves had.  It's a repeat of the exact same events.  Except."

"Except what?"  Itzal asked.

"Boar don't have packs like wolves.  They don't have a leader.  We just have to kill the toughest one there in a manner that will scare them for good."  Itzal pondered this.

"Good point.  So we see the huge boar, cut it down with sword arts, and walk away unscathed?"  Ulises nodded.

"Let me fight it."  Itzal frowned.

"No way, you've had control way too often recently.  I'll handle this one Ulises."  Ulises growled but conceded.

They discussed for a bit on how they wanted to proceed and made an agreement.  They would find a way down the cliff they had fought on so many times before and look for something of interest.  Now that they thought about it, any time they looked down there was always a thin mist that obscured the view so they had no idea what was at the bottom.  With a natural curiosity, and seeing how he was training for this exact purpose they decided to make their way down slowly.  As Itzal exited his meditation state he sighed with a familiar feeling of peace and calm flow over him.  It was a natural effect of the state and he was very happy he took the calming the soul quest.

He made his way over to the cliff's side and peered over the edge.  The cliff wasn't smooth at all, with many indents and stones sticking out.  There could easily be loose stones but he could test stones with his feet before moving on.  It was simple really.  He wondered why some people had such an issue climbing up and down cliffs.  He made his way over the edge and got proper footing before beginning the decent.  As he scanned the side for footholds he spotted an ore sticking out.  It was loose so he tapped it quickly and added it to his inventory before moving on.

He made his way down slowly.  He estimated that the cliff was about twenty seven feet down so he took his time.  When he reached ten feet or so he could jump and roll on the bottom, softening his fall.  Unless of course it ended up being a rocky bottom.  He reached down with his foot, pressed against a stone before stepping on it or slipping it into an indent in the cliffside.  If the stone was loose he would locate another.  If the indent wasn't deep enough he would do the same.  If there wasn't any he would climb to the left or right where other suitable footholds were.  In truth it took less than two minutes for him to navigate his way down.  When he reached ten feet he noted that the ground was solid grass but further away it became more like a marsh like area, soggy with puddles everywhere, and very tall patches of grass.  So that's where the mist came from.  He jumped and rolled on the ground, making his way across.

Itzal recalled vaguely how boar tend to spend a lot of time in heavily bushed areas to avoid predators and decided to look out for them.  He scanned the ground thoughtfully as he made his way through the dry sections of the marsh-like area.  He heard a few pig grunts and squeals but whenever he looked up they appeared to be non violent and continued on.  As he peered through the misted air he spotted an area covered in tall thick bushes.  He grinned and drew Retributor, cutting a path for himself into the center of the area.  By the time he reached the edge he was a bit tired.  He pulled the bushes aside and saw nothing but a clearing.  Hmm.  Maybe the boar emerged after entering?  He took a few steps but nothing happened.  That's when he noticed a boar's skull in the center of the clearing and assumed it was killed by another pissed off player.  Oh well he thought and picked up the skull, adding it to his inventory.

Itzal and Ulises talked for a moment to try and figure out what happened.  They had scanned the area and confirmed that a player or possibly more had tracked down and killed the huge boar.  He sighed.  Although the monsters would no longer rush players as often as they usually did from now on, they would still charge him.  Unlike the wolves he realized they had no leader and were simply more scared and cautious around players from here on out.  It was improvement though, and it would definitely help the low leveled players.  He rose from the spot and decided to return to the campsite.  He would get no more benefit from being out here.  As he made his way back through the thick bushes and out into the marsh he spotted something that most would overlook, like the players who came previously probably did:  A dark green crystal that couldn't reflect sunlight because there was hardly any down here.  He picked it up as he headed back.  Well at least it wasn't a total loss.
