Itzal 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Author #21 Share Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) Itzal deflected, parried, blocked and countered but nothing he did could stop or even slow the insane goblin. He could feel his energy was low and decided to store the rest in case he saw the chance for a crit. Then he could one hit ko these suckers. In the meantime he needed to survive the attacks. The other goblin was keeping up with the two but could not see an opening to attack without getting sliced and diced by his crazed comrade. Itzal could hear Ulises counting down how long it would take before they reached the rocks. When it hit zero Itzal backflipped onto the stone structure and used his sword to land one more strike on the goblin before using it to keep it off of his high ground. The other goblin thought he saw his chance and tried to jump off of his partner to reach him. Unfortunately due to miscommunication, his friend's crazed state, and the fact that goblins weren't all that strong in the brain department, rendered him on the ground with his face in the dirt. Itzal 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Author #22 Share Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) As Itzal fended off the berserker goblin, the other one began to rise from the ground, a bit stunned from it's failed stunt. It shook it's head and growled at Itzal. The monster began to move around the stone structure and began to come up from above. Now having to fend off opponent's from both sides Itzal's defense speed had decreased by half and both goblins were slowly making their way up. Realizing there wasn't much else he could do he decided to launch himself over the goblin's head and strike at him before landing. It would have gone perfectly. If there hadn't been a small puddle on the stone boulder. That one little issue caused him to slip and miss his attack in midair. When he landed it wasn't a soft one and he had to roll out of the way to avoid the incoming attack from the goblin. It was a close call and he was determined for it not to happen again. Itzal 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Author #23 Share Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) When he shot up to his feet however the Goblin struck quickly at him, stabbing him in the shoulder. Itzal grimaced and fell backward after the other goblin had thrown it's sword, piercing his other shoulder. If he were a low level these injuries might have been too painful for him to move. However it was only the impact that made him grimace and he quickly pulled the blade out and pushed the goblin away from him, slipping the first sword out. He threw the sword at the other gobin, causing him to jump to the side. The crazed goblin came on him like a storm, striking a hundred times per second, forcing Itzal and Ulises both to concentrate completely on deflecting and parrying, no time for counter attacks. Velnia tried the light trick again but it had absolutely no effect on the goblin and she gave up the attempt. Wondering what she could do to help she flied to the top of the cavern to survey the fight. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #24 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) The goblin's attacks became faster and faster, it's sword now fused with both grief and hate entirely, gathering momentum and increasing in strength to the point where the monster knocked Retributor from Itzal's hands and slashed him twice in the nano second he jumped away and rolled on the ground, retrieving Retributor and running from the monster that was close on his tail. As he ran the monster lunged multiple strikes at Itzal who deflected and parried as the two ran in time. The other goblin tried to catch up to them but Velnia appeared out of nowhere and kicked the loser in the face. He shook his head shocked and tried to hit her with his sword but she wasn't there anymore. Wack! He was kicked on the back of the head. He growled and swung there but to no avail. He expected another hit from behind and turned around, only to be hit on the head with a giant rock, rendering him unconscious. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #25 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Itzal was losing stamina fast under the quick relentless attacks of the monster and knew he needed to take a stand. Ulises pointed out an area and gave him a plan. Nodding he led the goblin to the cavern's curved wall with nearby boulders. As he deflected the monster's attacks he gathered speed, running faster and faster, until soon he was running up the wall, leaping off the high part, and released sonic leap on the goblin, dropping it's health all the way down to one hp. Now any normal attack would finish it off. The goblin howled with rage before attacking him again, only this time it lacked the energy it had before. Being in the health's red zone made you feel close to death, but being at one hp drained at your stamina greatly, and therefore the goblin had trouble targeting Itzal properly. This was going to finish quickly he thought. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #26 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Itzal tried to land a hit on his target but tired as he was, he wasn't incapable of combat. He deflected and parried each of Itzal's attacks but Itzal have him no time to counter attack. In other words, the tables turned. Itzal was the one pressing against the goblin and the goblin was desperately trying to break the assault. The nearby wolves had recently killed off one of the goblins and wounded the other. The wounded one was soon to be piled over by several wolves while the third one proved that he wasn't going down without a fight. He slashed at the air around him wildly, keeping the wolves off of him, not caring about the other goblin. The goblin who was knocked out was returning to consciousness and when Velnia tried knocking him out again he grabbed the rock, pulled it away from the dragon, and threw it away. Velnia gave a nervous grin before taking off, closely followed by a pissed off goblin. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #27 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) As Itzal pressed his advantage he could feel his energy returning to him. He was about to finish off the goblin when he noticed something. The goblin was pushing once again. No longer did it care about it's own fatigue, no longer did it care that it was one punch from death, no longer did it care that it was about to fall apart. It took all of it's remaining energy away from everything and redirecting it to it's muscles. It struck back at last and the duel soon came to an in between, each party trying to gain ground and conquer the other. It became more and more heated, pacing faster and faster before Ulises told Itzal to take a moment to calm his mind, taking over for a second. Itzal backed up and calmed down, reorganizing his thoughts and refocusing them. Meanwhile Velnia was flinging insults at the goblin as it failed to catch her or hit her with his sword. At one point he actually threw his sword which Velnia dodged easily, before sticking her tongue at the stupid monster. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #28 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) The duel grew ever more intense as both sides struck harder and faster with each moment. Parry, deflect, counter, parry, deflect, counter, and thus the pattern continued. The sound of metal striking metal grew louder and louder, cracking the very air itself. At this point Itzal wondered if this goblin wasn't actually a miniboss rather than a normal goblin. It's strikes became more precise and accurate, as well as faster and stronger. It was closing to the point where Itzal would need Ulises to assist him with the fight in a more physical manner but he wanted to try and avoid that. He called upon his own reserve energy and strength and attempted to press his advantage. Unfortunately he waited too soon and the monster stepsided his attack, swinging at Itzal from behind. Itzal barely evaded the attack in time and swung his blade at the goblin, knocking the sword and arm into the air but had to regain his balance, depriving him of the chance to strike. He did notice however that Velnia was keeping the other goblin occupied and was grateful. Dealing with this maniac as well as the other one would be a really big challenge. He also noticed that the wolves had taken down two out of three of the goblins so he needed to wrap this up. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #29 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) While Itzal and the goblin dueled like crazy, Velnia and the other goblin were having a very interesting adventure. Velnia consistently kept things interesting by switching between her flying 'just' out of reach tactic, completely close to him but evading every attack tactic, and the hide and seek tactic. In other words, she evaded him as if she were playing a game. It was fun actually. She got a few laughs, got to play tag and hide and go seek. Not to mention that she was using this time to practice a few moves she wanted to invent. She flew under the goblin's legs and landed on the back of his head, taking flight immediately afterward to allow the strong head hit where she was. She flew off, slow enough for the clumsy monster to keep up, and watched as the stupid creature howled with frustration and waved his sword around at her like a moron. Velnia let out a chuckle and flew over him, easily evading the wild sword, and dived behind a rock. She heard the goblin begin shattering rocks with his sword, getting close to her. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #30 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) This duel had ended when it started. Both swordsmen had strength, speed and determination. But there were three vital differences between them that made victory absolute for Itzal, and defeat a doom for the goblin. The first was that he was a much higher level than this creature. While it's stats were higher, it's damage was pathetic, hence why he'd grind on this floor. The second was that Itzal was more intelligent, far more intelligent than any mere goblin could ever hope to achieve. But the third, and possibly most important, was that Itzal still had people he cared about, and he needed to be there to protect him, as well as get out of this game to see Aimi. That was a determination that the goblin would never reach. It was a determination only a human, not an AI, could reach. That was what separated humans from AI. Not that one was human and the other an AI. AI had no soul. They didn't truly exist. And while they could have artificial love, they could not experience it for real. These were his thoughts as he broke through the goblin's defenses and ended it's temporary life. ID# 66630 BD: 6 Finally! Stamina wise he needed a second to breath. He noticed that the wolves finished their job and that they were looking with interest as Velnia played with her new toy. Itzal grinned at the sight and gestured for the wolves to back off. "I've got that sucker." Understanding the wolves nodded and formed a crowd to watch. Itzal straightened his back and switched from Niger Natio to Twilight Cloak. He wanted proper loot from this fight and he was going to get it. He did not fight this entire time just to leave with not one shred of col. He turned to the goblin chasing Velnia. "Hey pinhead!" he called and the enraged goblin turned to Itzal. He was wondering why his goblin partner looked different and then realized that the player had killed him. He roared with rage and charged at Itzal with the force of a bull and rhino put together. Itzal waited until the last moment before step-siding the monster and letting him rocket face first into the wall. He was still a little tired and needed to reserve his strength for the final strike. He wanted to end this quickly though so he was calculating how he would go about this. This had been one eventful night he thought. Was this why the wolves needed him? Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #32 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) The monster's energy and stamina was still there but was cut off from action after the goblin had run into the stone wall, temporarily dazed. That gave Velnia time to fly over and land on Itzal's shoulder. He grinned at her. "Had fun did you? Well it's time for me to finish the job ok?" Velnia nodded and flew off, landing on a stone beam up near the ceiling. He looked at the wolves and nodded. When he turned back to the goblin he saw that it had recovered and was glaring at him hatefully. It tried to say something to Itzal but of course it used goblin tongue and he shrugged. "I don't understand goblin, and I'm not sure you understand my own tongue. But know that you brought this upon yourselves. You all attacked this pack, and their under my protection. I always protect my friends. Therefore if you fight them, you fight me." The goblin's eyes narrowed and let out a roar before charging. By now Itzal had time to recover and step sided again like lightning, slashing at the goblin's left side with Retributor as he did. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #33 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) The monster turned around sharply, swinging his sword with full strength at Itzal. All Itzal did to avoid this was lower his back, letting the blade pass above him and returning the favor with a successful strike of his own. The monster then jabbed, slashed, curved, punched, and pulled off multiple hundreds of combos. Itzal however didn't even raise his sword, moving at minimal requirement to evade the blade. Backwards half an inch, lean forward or backward, move to the side, tilt his head to the right or left. He could see every attack coming while the goblin was in this state. Everything became predictable and to be quite frank, he and Ulises had grown bored. The other goblin had been a challenge and while there was a little danger here, there wasn't much. This monster would have to hit Itzal around eighty five times to kill him and the chances at that were the same as Hell freezing over. Not only that but this fight was dragging on for too long. Almost as long as that fight with the wolf back when he was extremely low levels. Man had he proceeded. He was so powerful compared to before. However he knew that he was still considerably weaker than most of the front liners. Particularly Teayre. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #34 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Itzal noticed that the goblin would be making a grave mistake if he didn't refocus and Itzal felt it wasn't time yet. So when the monster struck at him again he didn't avoid the attack and took it head on. The critical hit dealt the minimum one damage and Itzal kept up the bored appearance before flicking his wrist and slashing the monster's torso with his own sword. The monster jumped back and growled as Itzal looked like this was the most boring thing he ever did. As the monster made another series of attempts Itzal resumed his evasion as his thoughts now drifted to the red headed bloodthirsty pker. That's right, he had finally tracked done one or two truths about her. When she fought in the front lines she took on entire squadrons, slaughtering as many as she could, and sometimes laughed while doing it. Not only that but she seemed to be the player with the most kills in this game thus far. He knew there could be other players with more kills but Teayre seemed to be the most guilty. The thing was that he wasn't angry at her. Cautious and untrusting, yes, but angry? He could never be angry at anyone. All he felt for her was sorrow. Sadness that she had taken such a dark path. He hoped that she would find a way out of the dark pit she had fallen into. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #35 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) Itzal repeated the process of allowing the monster to hit him and striking back before continuing his evasive tactics. Teayre was a powerful unit in the front lines but unstable. At least that's what he discovered. And he also confirmed that Oikawa, the blacksmith who made Retributor, which would be made anew into a tier two weapon, was also on the front lines. Itzal didn't think he had encountered any other front liners yet but for the most part he knew that many of them were powerful. The closer he got to the front lines the more dangerous everything became. He had received enough skills however to the point where he believed he was ready for the next few floors. He still needed the bracelet and ring from Teayre though and she hadn't messaged him that it was ready yet. Still that wouldn't stop him from moving to floors two and three for training. He also noticed that the wolves were in awe of his skills. Itzal would have shrugged if he wasn't evading the goblin. Finally Itzal had grown tired of all this crap. He dodged the monster's next attack and thrust his sword into a critical area, cutting through half of the monster's neck and activating the bleeding effect. The monster cried in agony but the real damage wouldn't happen until a few moments later. It seemed to realize that and charged with more fury but couldn't land a hit on Itzal. With his natural evasive skills, plus his armor, he was an untouchable target. It was like trying to grab water, always slipping past or around your fingers, or in this case sword. He reached over and grabbed it, but it was stiffer than the cave itself. He sighed before noticing Velnia swooping down to him, chirping with pride. Yes he had become very powerful indeed. Still it didn't matter that much to him. Levels were just numbers. What it really took was skill and intelligence to pass this game. He saw the wolves waiting for him impatiently and he walked over. "Ok so now that those morons are dealt with what do you need help with?" Three wolves began moving to the tunnel and Itzal followed closely. He once again wondered why they would need their help. Apparently the gobins were an annoyance but that was as far as it went. Or so it seemed. Was it possible the goblins wanted to exterminate the wolves? If so why? They were animals, no need to go to war against them right? There wasn't any point or reason. As they entered the giant cavern Itzal had seen before he noticed that there was a group of wolves near a slope of fallen rocks. Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #39 Share Posted August 31, 2016 Itzal rushed over and peered into the darkness, spotting the red frightened eyes of the young warg. He didn't wait for an explanation but took action instantly. "You guys, stop digging there! You'll cause the rocks to move and bury him further! You over there! Get the other wolves away from here!" Itzal drew Retributor and consulted with Ulises. This is going to be tricky. We need to remove the rocks on top first but we can't stand up there without putting more pressure on the warg. Yeah. Not to mention we already showed the other wolves that the same thing will happen if they remove the bottom ones first. So what were you thinking? Sigh, I need to use Retributor to remove the rocks on top. It would take some time, but- Hey hey hey! I can get behind that idea! Come on let's do this! "Velnia I'm going to smash the rocks on top but I need you to help me reach them." Velnia nodded and lifted Itzal up into the air. He then proceeded to hack at the stones, watching their neutral health bars deplete rapidly. One by one the stones began to disappear and Itzal stopped when he spotted fur. He sheathed his sword and Velnia let him down. "Dig there," he said and the wolves quickly obeyed, uncovering the warg in moments. While they did so Itzal built a stretcher from nearby materials that could strap onto two wolves. He did so and lifted the warg, placing it on the stretcher. "I know a smooth path back up there. It's longer but required if we don't want to risk more damage."
Itzal 0 Posted August 31, 2016 Author #40 Share Posted August 31, 2016 (edited) As they traveled the wolves couldn't help but stare at Itzal in wonder. Not only had this player destroyed the tyrant that ruled them before, but he had spared the wolves, and even helped raise the young warg from time to time. Sure he did weird, strange stuff like placing this confusing thing on their back that connected the two wolves, but it helped their new young leader and that was fine with them. This player seemed to always be there when they needed him and they would do what they could to return the favor. Not too long ago they helped protect the player's female friend. Itzal felt a similar sensation. These wolves were AI and were quite intelligent. It was an eye opener to work beside them, let alone establish a working relationship. The more he helped the wolves the more he noticed their respect for him grow. They had taken his orders, possibly understanding from his hand's gestures rather than his words, with instant action and without hesitation. He realized that he had become a part of their family.
