Yoku 0 Posted September 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) Yoku leaned against the great walls of the Starting City facing the great grassy plains of the first floor. Though he wasn't taking in the scenery, instead he stared intently at his basic scimitar blade he held in front of him, speaking to himself as he focused well. "Being level 1, I don't have my one stun skill, which will make fighting the boars so early dangerous, but..." His simply cloth clothing and his short, rough, black hair waved in the wind as his piercing green eyes continued to singly concentrate on his weapon. This look, along with the way he stood, would make him unconsciously look somewhat intimidating. But of course if anyone were to look at his stats, or even his gear, it could easily be seen he's hardly a threat. In fact, he would look especially vulnerable for someone planning to venture outside the city walls. This vulnerability however didn't bother the scimitar wielder as much as it would for the average person. At least to the point where he didn't go find someone else to help him fight his first mob. From the wasted time to the potential risk of a player stabbing him the back, quite literally, he didn't see much of an advantage fighting with someone than without. It wasn't that he was extremely distrusting, but if it was enough to someone's benefit, he knew there were people who would be willing to kill him. Even if a world that seemed evidently against them with a natural reason to band together. There was a natural enemy back where he was from as well, that didn't stop gang violence against one another. @Seul Edited September 4, 2016 by Yoku
Seul 1 Posted September 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2016 (edited) @Yoku ID: 66912 | LD: 11 (10 + 1 S&D) | Nothing Found. With a heavy swing from his greatsword the knight attempted to cleave off part of a common rock in the first floor's grassy fields. It was a well known fact that mining was a simple way to obtain crafting materials when combat wasn't an option, but unfortunately it seemed as though his weapon wasn't up for the task as it bounced off the hard surface... Just as it had done for the last two hours. What was he doing wrong? He never had that much trouble with gathering when he used a dagger. It was really starting to become more annoying than anything else. If he didn't call it quits then and there he probably would have only ended up killing the closest mob he could find. At least the walk back to the Starting City would be peaceful enough. None of the monsters bothered to attack, but it wasn't like they'd really pose a threat if they did. He worked hard to reach the point where he was after all, it was the least the game could do to make his life easier. --- Seul was nearing the gates, but something (or rather someone) caught his attention. From the corner of his eye he could see a lone player standing off against the wall nearby. He wasn't sure if he had been spotted as well, but from what he could tell, the player wasn't exactly looking around. Still, he was compelled to go say something. "Yo! You might wanna pay attention when you're outside the safe zone. There have been a lot of PKs in the past few months after all. I'd rather not hear about anymore." Yoku 0 Posted September 5, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 5, 2016 @Seul While Yoku was focused on his weapon, he always made sure to eyes and ears on his peripherals. It helped to make sure to be ready to react to anyone who had him on their mind, positively or negatively. And while the player calling out to him was a little too off to the side for him to see, he certaintly stopped when he heard the swordsman speak. He kept hold of the sword as he got off the wall, though he turned to face the player before replying. "Don't worry brother, I would of reacted if I saw someone walking towards me. But you were walking towards the entrance so I stayed focused on my blade, I appreciate the advice though. Actually, on the subject of player killers, do the PKers tend to venture out to areas of mobs, since I'd rather not be attacked while I was fighting." He was only willing to trust Seul with what he was going to do since PKers were a serious issue and were worth the risk of asking a potential PKer to find out their patterns. That, and it would be strange of him to warn him if he was planning on killing him anyway, he'd just tail Yoku from a distance without alerting him of his presence. Could be wanting a false sense of security, but that seems like a lot of extra thought process for defeating one level one player.
Seul 1 Posted September 5, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2016 "Good to know." He took a moment to think the question over before ultimately offering a shrug in response. "Well, the game prevents them from entering safe zones so they kinda have to camp out in the mob infested wilderness or in their shops. I wouldn't worry too much though; most times no one kills unless they absolutely have to." He hoped his words helped to alleviate any of the concerns about the pkers. It was true that he still didn't have much trust for many of the more notorious ones, but saying that they were all cut from the same cloth wouldn't have been right either. Every deserved a chance at equal judgment, but it wasn't like the past could be so easily forgotten either. "Still, one can never be too careful while outside of town. Were you going to do some hunting? I'm not sure what it is but the monsters seem a lot nastier than they used to be so having a party might be a good idea too."
Yoku 0 Posted September 5, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted September 5, 2016 Yoku did think that was the case when it came to Safe Zones but it was nice to have it entirely confirmed. He listened well to his words since it was first time he had spoke to an experienced player since he had arrived to this death game. After a couple of moments taking it all in he replied looking into the eyes of the one he spoke to, "Makes sense. Yeah, I'm gonna go grinding. Thanks for the noti' but based on the fact that players who still haven't left the first city aren't planning on leaving, chances are the only people that'll come with me are the PKers, so how much safer would I be by being a party than being without? I'd rather be killed by the game than my own stupidity." Noti' being short for notification, he said the last sentence rather plainly as if he didn't think much of dying. Naturally, the last thing Yoku wanted to do was die, but he was simply being logical with the line. The game is mathematics, people can't be so easily calculated.
Seul 1 Posted September 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 7, 2016 "Pfft, if I was you I wouldn't want to be killed at all!" A look of displeasure grew across his face as he let the words sink in. "I don't think that's true though. PKers have different colored cursors than regular players. And like I said most don't kill unless they feel threatened... Which I doubt would be the case if you teamed up with one." He mumbled. Naturally he was going to run into people who were overly suspicious of the world around but then again who was he to say how this guy should live. All he could do was pass along things he gained from his own experiences in Aincrad and hope they would be true across the board. "In any case, I'm not doing anything right now. If you want some back up I'll tag along." He added with a smile to accompany the words. In a way it reminded him of all the people who helped him get to where he was. Yoku 0 Posted September 7, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted September 7, 2016 "Aren't you the honest one." Yoku stated plainly to his 'threatened' line, but he quickly followed up with, "But I respect the truth more than for ya to beat 'round the bush." The player then walked over to the man giving him words of advice, and placed his fist out in a 'fist bump' motion before finishing. "You make a lot of sense, would appreciate ya tagging along mate." The green eyed scimitar wielder felt zero animosity in his words and with the blinding amount of honesty in his quicker, emotional response he felt like the man was someone Yoku could trust. Although his voice changed to reflect the gladness of having someone help him out, his face stayed poker-face as ever, since he had not smiled, frowned, or anything of the like since the conversation started.
