Zulas 0 Posted October 30, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2016 Zulas had bought his new weapon but hadn't actually tested it out. He had been meaning to do this, but had just gotten distracted doing other things. The best way to test it out, he knew, was going out outside the city and killing monsters. Now, he didn't know how his weapon would fair in higher floors so he decided to hunt tougher opponents in the first floor. He was playing it safe so that with the money and materials he gathered, he could go and make himself better pieces of armor. With his mind made up, Zulas headed to one of the edges of the first floor, an area that wasn't crowded much of the time. On his way there he saw his first monster that would test the edge of his blade. He equipped the sword to his side and took it out of its scabbard, at the ready. The monster was a 'Scavenge Toad', but it seemed to be by itself although Zulas saw that it was a bit bigger than some of the ones he's seen previously. The target was set, so it was a matter of Zulas readying his weapon and go in for the attack.
Zulas 0 Posted October 30, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) The toad jumped into the water of a small stream that led all the way to Starting City. The city could be seen all the way from where Zulas stood. His gaze turned to the toad standing in front of him now. "Ok then, I'm going to have to get wet then." - he said as he readied his equipped sword. The toad had its back to Zulas, enjoying himself some fish that lived a the bottom of the stream. It tilted its head backwards swallowing its prey when Zulas charged forward and attacked with three quick strikes in succession. He felt his weapon, Eternal Penance, do its job. That's when he saw the creature's HP gauge gain some status effects under it. It seemed that the investment on his weapon had paid off. The creature jumped back in retreat and position itself in front of Zulas, ready to continue the fight. Zulas 0 Posted October 30, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted October 30, 2016 (edited) The monster jumped from side to side and sometimes even over Zulas himself. He kept up with him in his movement, but unfortunately he was inside the stream already. His pants got wet and they felt a bit damp right now, but the system allowed for it to not hamper in movements. For anyone passing by, it would look a bit amusing for a guy that looked to be stranded inside of a stream. A toad monster jumping in all directions trying to drive him nuts, but the toad stopped for a couple of seconds in one spot. Zulas saw his opportunity and moved forward with his sword, but at the same time the toad reared its head back. ID# 70139 results: Battle: 5 (Miss) MOB: 6 (DMG 10) It was the monster that caught Zulas by surprise this time, it tilted its head forward again but this time stuck out its tongue like a whip. The tongue hit Zulas straight in his chest sending him backwards and falling inside the stream. "Damn it. Now, I'm all wet." - he cursed at the toad as he got up and ready to trade blows with it once more. Zulas 0 Posted November 8, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) Zulas slowly got up with his sword pointed at the foe in front of him, his clothes dripping wet from his fall. The toad stood just outside the stream wagging its tongue from side to side, taunting the swordsman. Not even a second after, the toad jumped towards Zulas and he jumped at the enemy at the same time. It will not happen again, he thought to himself. He didn't want to feel as powerless as he did that first time when he first started venturing outside the city. He knew that he had changed, he was not that same guy. He had met people, he had ventured by himself this deadly world. These thoughts ran through his mind as both him and the monster went for the attack at the same time. At the same time, the movement made the water around Zulas explode in different directions and sent the toad flying backwards outside of his range, but not before slapping Zulas with its tongue across the head. He stumbled backwards and the toad jumped back to its feet in return, but Zulas could see that its health was almost at the red zone, and the toad was bleeding from different places. Zulas 0 Posted November 8, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) A flash of his past life crossed Zulas mind. The beach laid out in front of him, the sea slowly going in and out towards the sea. The sea breeze hitting his face, the laughter of people around and the sound of seagulls covered his senses. He closed his eyes and laid back down on the towel they had brought. 'They', he thought and that's when he saw her. Her skin seemed to radiate when the sun hit it. The hat she wore seemed a bit too big for her, but she handled it beautifully. She was lying down next to him, getting the tan color that she so desperately wanted. She had joked to Zulas that she was starting to look like a ghost, and he laughed at the thought. "What are you laughing at?" - she said smiling at him. ID: 70424 | BD: 4 (Miss) | LD: 2 | MOB: 8 (DMG 10) His memory got interrupted by the toad's jumping movement towards him. The creature jumped towards him looking to slam down on top of him. Zulas was very distracted by the memory, almost lost in it when he finally snapped out of it. It was too little too late as the toad landed on top him. It made a huge splash as water went in all directions and Zulas went face first into the stream. He was kept like that until the monster suddenly exploded into a million pieces on top of him, defeated by the Bleed effect from his weapon.
