[SP-F3] The Beginning of the Beginning <<Worn out Welcome>>

Recommended Posts

This was a quest that was in the level range that he could take. This could only mean one thing. With the offer of an armor at his hand, there was no other choice but for him to take it. Finally, because of the players that were of higher level, he was able to take one of the quests alone. This was a small quest for sure, but that did not make it something to sneeze at. Sey was grateful for having a chance to take the quest. The Paladin that brought him up, his actions did a lot more for Sey than he would expect. Now it was time to make sure those efforts have not been put in vain. So he would end up placing his finger onto the HUD, which had asked him if he wanted to take the mission, in which he would press the blue circle that accepted it. Perfect, now all he needed to do was find what was known as the Dark Elf. Sounded like a simple boss, considering the amount of health it had was way lower than his. If anything, he just needed to worry a bit about the damage that it could inflict. Luck must once again be on his side.

So he would move out of the Safe Zone without any hesitation, his starter gear set. The only extra stat that he had on him was the extra damage that he could inflict, so now he was able to do 2 damage rather than one. Was this a good stat to have on him? Eh... Not really. But if he were to use it to his advantage, he might be able to stand a chance against the dark elf. It had a damning amount of damage, but a very weak structure. It was nearly almost half and half, but the leverage was shifted towards the newer player rather than the beast, so that was a huge plus. But in the end, he could only hope to get lucky in a turn based attack system. Once he got out of the safe zone, he would proceed to find the elf. The man and his wife seemed like nice people, even without a reward, they seemed to deserve it. But they promised him some armor, so he'll fight for that.

The Dark Elf in itself did not have it, so was it possible to go around it? Not according to the quest. It seemed to act more like a guardian, and getting past a perfect set of eyes was impossible as long as it was a computer that was controlling it. With this in mind, tricking it was another option, but resources were heavily lacking, especially with the amount of Col that he had currently. Just barely. So what can he do with this situation? Just about nothing. All he could do was approach the enemy and hope for the best, hoping that he would be able to inflict damage onto it quickly and end it without too many wounds. It was a high hope for sure, but he believed he could carry out the task with enough effort put behind it. So with that, he would approach the forest, where he could feel a bit of the mist that it had been named after swarming around his being. He was approaching.

Sey was getting nearly, the rustling of the grass below his feet was giving him away to the enemy already. This was a known fact to the player, as he cringed in a bit of awkwardness for making his existence so obvious to the field boss monster that was in front of him. With this, he would place up a spear in front of his body and point it forward. Violet eyes would avoid locking, as they were moving from left to right constantly, high on the alert as he did not want to risk a surprise attack from the elf. It could be anywhere, waiting for him to fall into a trap of some sort. Once he does, it would be a rough battle already. However, he has yet to become a hunter, so it was expected for him to fail despite him being alert. He was a businessman, not a fighter. Not yet at least. If he wanted to get out of Aincrad, there were no excuses as long as his life was at stake.

All of a sudden, his ears would hear to being all of a sudden as it would jump at him from the shadows behind him. An ambush! Despite it having the element of surprise, Sey was surprisingly ready for it as he spun around to meet the elf one on one. He jumped back to avoid the shiff of the weapon that seemed to be way off aim. The dark elf did not seem to have too good of an aim, and even seemed to lose track of where Sey was located. Perfect. With this chance, the player would quickly pierce the spear through the virtual body of the boss, inflicting some damage before pulling it back. With just that, the element of surprise had been reversed onto an opponent that was in its own territory. Perhaps he did not need to enhance his loot dice in order to have extremely blissful luck. However, no one was off guard anymore. From now on, it's a fair fight.

Braced for the next attack, he would hold up his spear to defend against his opponent. It would dash from side to side, quickly confusing his eyes before it would suddenly jump up over his head, it's arm with a blade extended with the intent of slicing. Thanks to being able to fool the player, it would successfully strike him. However, in return, Sey slammed his spear against the ground to prevent knockback from the impact. This was to prevent the elf from stringing it's attacks into some sort of combo. This also allowed for the element of surprise to once again return to the player, as he lifted the grounded tip of the spear from the ground and quickly stabbed it forward. This resulted in it taking another spear to the stomach. Noticeable damage was showing on it's being, confidence was being gained. It seems like the battle is currently going in his favor.

However, this seemed to be expected as it would suddenly lash out at him once again, this time with no defense as he would be knocked back from the blade with a might amount of force. Sey did not just fall back, but was sent flying for he had been launched pretty hard. What stopped him was a nearby tree in the forest to make sure that his body did not get too far from the arena. Seems like the enemy refused to take such damage without giving a huge amount in return. Since it was going to be that way, Sey could not underestimate it by any means necessary. After shaking his head to regain his composure, he'd place his spear out once again, pointed forward towards the enemy, ready to strike at it once again. Teeth clenched, he'd lock eyes with the enemy field boss. It left a nasty mark on his health bar, like he did to its health.

However, despite thinking he was ready, once it leaped at him once again, he found himself too nervous to move around. All of his joints were shaking, all body commands were being nulled. What more? He was unable to figure it out. "What the... Paralysis!?" He would exclaim as he clenched his teeth, hoping to take the impact and hope it would reduce the amount of pain he was about to experience. The slash of the blade against his flesh hurt much more than expected, a critical hit towards the chest, causing him to slide back against the grass once again. Perhaps this was not going to be as easy as he had expected. What happened to all of the luck he had before? Eh, it did not matter now, he needed to continue fighting the best he can with the stats he had equipped. How else can he gain some armor? There was that one guy... But Sey can't bother him for every problem he had.

The both of them were nearly even when it came to helth, meaning that the fight that was once at his advantage might soon turn into a toss-up, which is not something he needed considering how he was not doing too well in a fight. Perhaps he did need a little bit more training, but finding the Paladin's served to be a little more difficult than he had expected. Of course, in a world of 10,000 people, did he really think it would be easy to find them? Next attack. Sey wanted to make the first strike, so he would charge quickly to the Dark Elf before it would make a first strike, spear pierced outwards towards it. However, the else leaped out of the way just in time. In return, it aimed to use the back end of the blade to slice his neck. Fortunately for him, thanks to his momentum, he would move out of the way and avoid the attack with great succession. Turning around, they both failed.

As the both of them continued to dance, they seemed to be getting closer to making the next successful strike. This time, he decided to not just use the tip of the spear, but using all of the wood that it had to provide. It was delicate, sure, but in a video game, it must have some form of durability. So with this, Sey decided to treat his weapon as if it were a staff rather than a spear. This new approach was rather difficult however, since there was less range, and any hit with the wood seemed to have no effect on the being. While he was able to dodge the more predictable hits of the blade that aimed to pierce him, they were noticeably getting closer, and at this rate, they might eventually get to him. This was something he must protect himself from, and quickly So unfortunately, he had to jump back in order to get away. This only made the elf come to him with in a rush to get him once again.

It was coming for him... By this time, the player was rather pissed off. The pain that was stinging on his body was beginning to take form as the health bar was warning him that he was about to enter the yellow zone. The Dark Elf was nearly about to break him, a different approach must be taken... A risky one. So instead of trying to avoid the attack... "Come at me then..." The player would dare with a darkened tone, angered by the damage he had sustained so quickly. The Dark Elf slashed as if nothing had changed, but Sey took the pain as he slide back a little, but slammed the tip of the weapon onto the grass to stop himself. But with the momentum so high, he not only stopped, but rebounded back towards the direction of the elf. Was this a part of his plan? ... No. But it worked in his favor. Once he got within the range of the spear, he would aim to slice the neck of the field boss. While in real life, this would kill a being, it just meant critical damage to the Dark Elf as it had been launched back with a nasty amount of recoil, slamming it against a tree of the forest to stop it from leaving.

Well, because of suck a risk, he sustained a little bit more damage than he could take as he would end up falling forward from the impact that he had caused. It was an unfortunate case of bad luck for him, but he would recover with a sloppy bit of scrambling, but it would all be worth it once he... "ACK!" Or perhaps not, as the blade would slice at his chin and caused him to stumble back with an awkward amount of disgrace, falling back from the impact as his health bar officially entered the yellow zone. Not good, he needed to end the field boss as quickly as he could before he ended up getting into the red zone. It seemed like he needed only a few more hits in order to win this fight, this was going to be all or nothing. Despite being a bit lower on health, he was not going to end this fight so quickly by escaping. He wanted armor, he needed it. And this was the only obstacle.

So he would end up rolling back up onto his feet, eyes blazing as he blocked another attack from above before pushing the Dark Elf away from him, launching it into the air before it landed back onto it's feet. Capitalizing, he would aim to slash it with his spear from the left to the right side, trying to inflict more damage onto it. However, this was denied as it leaped over the attack, aiming to jump down onto his body and cut more into his health. The blade sliced, but Sey would move to the side in order to allow it to meet the ground below him away. No use trying to attack it while it was still aware that it can dodge, so the player would once again jump away to gain some distance between the both of them. Neither of them were successful in that exchange once again. What does he do now? The risky approach had way too much to lose in the process, so it was a bad idea to take it.

No such luck for him as it would once again strike down onto him from above, knocking him onto the ground once again, putting his health near the red zone. It was not quite there yet, but it was far too close for comfort. Sey did not like the looks of things from here, but there was a burning in him that told him to kep on going, to endure it. Despite his clothes being torn due to the damage, he wanted to pursue that heavy armor. This was the only thing in his way, and then he was free to have it. On top of that, he could gain whatever loot that the enemy had for him. This was going to be a tough one, but if he was able to tough it out, the rewards would be beautiful. So with this in mind, he would push himself back up to his feet the best he could, both hands on the spear as he felt the wanting to give in try to overcome his body. No, he was a lot more resilient than that.

With this, the both of them would stand still in a bit of silence, neither of them taking an approach. When the damage sustained is at a low peak for the two fighters, they must think out their moves quickly. The first one to make a move could be the first to make a mistake that could be easily countered. But the second one that wanted to defend might make a mistake in their defense and get struck. Both concepts were thought of, and until one of them made a move, they were going to end up thinking about what they must do a lot. They were still in battle, and neither of them wanted to quite give up yet. However, one of them was a player, and one of them was an NPC. One could easily guess which one would take a stab at it first. And it seemed like the predictions are correct, seeing as it would make it's attempt to get to the player, who prepared for impact in case it was needed.

However, once it made the charge, it would suddenly move way off course and slice at the thin air, meaning that something must have botched it up for real with the aiming. Perhaps there was an outside source looking over the battle? Sey would only hope for that source to  be in his favor. If not, then it just meant that the Dark Elf just had a terrible amount of aim, and tha was something he wished were the case with all of the other hits. They are still stinging, the yellow bar about to turn red once he got to the 25% health mark. This was going to require a bit of assistance, but he only had one person he could call, and had yet to find a summoning skill. Were they around? That was not too likely since she was often a safe player, rather than one that took risks like he did. Perhaps she was just too far away for him to reach, so hoping was hopeless.

It was just barely able to do it though, landing another strike that inflicted more damage onto his body. This was looking far too awful for him, at this rate, he might have to abandon the quest he was taking. That was something he could not afford, since the armor was so close within range. Placing his spear up, he would take the brunt of the hit with as much hope as he could have. The health bar had entered the red zone, forcing him to think a bit more about this. What was the point of an armor if he was unable to do anything with it? There was no body to put it on if he died at the moment. Yet despite this, despite how tired he felt that his body was, he felt like he could do this. The quest was not done, and neither was the fight. So somewhat stupidly, he decided to continue the battle as it was about to come to an end, and the winner at this point was officially a toss-up.

And unfortunately for him, it was not as easy as that, as the next hit would slice once again, putting his bar in some serious danger. One more strike with the amount of attack power that he had was a suicidal move to make, and it seemed like he was not going to make it. The enemy was far too strong for him, and with the amount of health that he had, it was a terrible idea to continue fighting, Sey was realizing this. So he would abandon the track as soon as he could by jumping out, making a haste to get out of the forest. The Dark Elf was on hot pursuit, but it could only go so far before he made it to the borders... Seems like he had failed his first task already. Fate seemed to treat him very poorly, or perhaps it was his own lack of skill. The edge of the forest was near, and soon, it was present. The quest was done, but it had to be dropped in the process, meaning no armor for him. But... Escaping is not so simple.

Despite the attempts to escape, it was just too fast to quite shake away. This was not working out the way he had been hoping. But he was so close, he could taste the fresh air of the outside approaching. And... He had done it. Made it to the end of the forest, where the Dark Elf could not touch him. Somehow, he was he able to end the task with his life as the reward, nothing more, nothing less. Seems like he could not take on things alone, not while he was a bit weaker. It seems like he overestimated himself, served him right to be so foolish and hope that he would actually get off the way he did. Fighting against the being was not worth it, not while he was alone, he needed some help. Major one at that. So... he was going to have to find the Paladins for sure. They were able to help him, training him, give him better equipment... And pretty much give him his own life.

A disappointing result regardless though, it was not too fun to have lost a quest. But what was fun however was the fact that he was alive to even have fun in the first place. A blissful thought indeed. Placing his palms in his pockets, he would make a quick dash, as quick as he could anyways. But it was more like limping, he would need to rent an inn room. Thanks to a previous quest however, he was able to do just that, and it placed a smile on him to be able to do that. So with that, he knew that he was not sleeping on the streets of a safe zone, but in a nice warm cozy bed with a locked door and a blanket. That was more than enough for him to enjoy. Perhaps failing this was not so bad. The sun was setting, meaning that he finally got to do what he wanted to do the whole time. Get some sleep, for this concludes the first night he has in Aincrad, and his tired body needed it very much.

So with that, the task had been unfinished, but he shall return with an army that is him in the far future! He did not need an armor like that once he got through with it! Of course, this would require more than a few days to do, but every game must be beaten, and any player has the potential to beat it. So he was going to do just that, though not right now. Now, he just needed to get some bed rest and hope for the next day to be something much better. So with that, he would enter the safe zone, just safe and sound. No more worry about being exposed to the dangers of the outside world, it did not seem to like his existence anymore thanks to him fighting a battle in it. Oh well, the health bar was low, but it will be restored at the cheap price of 10 col, he knew. Then he would continue on his quest, hoping for the best in the next run. Of course, with a partner, the paladins.

Summary: 400 Col, 1 SP

Quest Result: Failure, no quest rewards awarded
