[F1-PP-NK] The return (Wolfie) [Complete]

Recommended Posts

(OOC: okay no worries.)

Hydra heard Wolfie's warning that another was coming from behind. "Damn they must have made this place there territory after the werewolf was killed."  Hydra quickly spun around to face it. Wolfie was right, this one was far bigger, and looked far more ferocious. Hydra could now make out the characteristics, a black colored sabre cat was the easiest description. This beast had yellow eyes and dark matted fur. It's teeth were stained slightly red and dripping with saliva, "Hopefully that is just for cosmetic purposes" the brunette mumbled preparing to attack himself.

The beast pounced, it was far faster than the previous one not letting Hydra evade it's grasp. It tried to sink it's teeth into his arm but the armor proved to hard to break through. Hydra glanced up at Wolfie and raised an eyebrow. "Well, not many get to witness this but you get to see my most powerful sword art." The young adventurer took in a deep breath and shut his eyes, a few seconds later they re-opened, the deep blue now a more vibrant color than it seemed to be before. Hydra raised his spear in his left arm slowly and then like a viper striking he sent a flurry of blows into the beast, over and over again. Before it could recover from its wounds he signaled to Wolfie "Don't worry its focused on me right now, try attacking it."

“I see, Though I doubt if I hit that I would do much.” Wolfie said in a very blunt manner, though he still did try to attack as the beast ran past him but missed. “And, given how animistic these programs are, I would say you are right in that they have marked this their territory. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more soon. My suggestion would be to move this battle outside, in order to lower our chances of attracting any more of them.” His eyes had shifted to Gold. “Give me a minute to check our surroundings and I will get back to you on what our next step should be”
Leaving combat, Wolfie briskly walked to the edge of the cave to look around. The rain seemed to be letting up though the lightning was just as prevalent in the dark night sky. Suddenly he saw a light in the distance, it was possible that the light was something, or someone that they could use to disguise   themselves once they had killed this beast. Though he didn’t want to yell in the cave, the possibility of attracting more due to echo was too much. Instead he would walk back to Hydra and tell him what Wolfie found as soon as it was safe.

Hydra often forgot that this world was virtual but Wolfie had a point. The pair could easily be stood on a spawning spot and whilst Hydra had both offense and defense, if his energy ran out then problems would begin to arise. Wolfie mentioned about checking the surroundings, "He may be a lower level, but he makes up for that in strategy." Hydra thought to himself before nodding, one eye still on the beast which was preparing for it's second attack. Hydra was the type who remained calm in battle, although he had had moments of severe stress in the past.

The beast snarled, baring its fangs once more. The brunette had always liked animals but he had to cast that aside in this world. It was hard to tell what was friend and what was foe. The adventurer let out another breath of air, his stance freezing in time for a moment... "Guess this time i'll engage first." Hydra rushed forward jumping off the ground slightly and raising his spear above his head. This time he would strike just once, his weapon ripping through the beast in one clean slice, before it shattered into crystals just like the one from earlier. Hydra stumbled a little as he hit the ground, he hadn't been use to fighting for a while. "Phew... Now, I need to go see what Wolfie has uncovered."

Hydra approached him soon after the sound of the beast’s data being shattered was able to penetrate Wolfies ear-drums. “Over there” Wolfie says pointing “There looks to be some sort of light, best case scenario it is a small caravan that is on its way to a city, if so we can blend in with them and hopefully make it to safety. Worst case scenario, it is a trap placed by the game to lure any players into an ambush of monsters before killing the players off. I would say it is probably worth the risk to check it out, though I believe you deserve a say in the matter.” Wolfie stood still, staring at the light in the distance, seeming not to move. “I hope that the first option is what that light is, but from what I have seen it is possible… no… likely, that the light is a trap. However even if it is a trap seeing as it is the first floor, I see no harm in checking the scene, even if we need to take time to look around and check the perimeter.” He thinks to himself as he analysis his options

Hydra could just make out the light in the distance that Wolfie was pointing at. "Impressive deduction, so to sum up, we are either moths dancing into a flame, or returning to civilization." The last part of the sentence the spearman said with a tone of bitterness and fear. To be honest Hydra didn't like either of the options, but they had no where else to go and he had made a deal to defend this person as long as he was needed. "Alright we can go and check it out." The brunette paused and turned back towards the cave, surely enough the sounds of roaring echoed through the cave now. "Looks like it was a spawn site. We should get going before they know of our presence."

Unlike before Hydra now no longer had his spear slung over his shoulder. Instead he carried it out in his left hand at a slight slant, the tip pointing upwards and his attitude more alert than earlier. It was funny how quickly things could change in this world. The spearman had forgotten that. The thought bought a weary smile to his face. "Not all believed in redemption, but if it truly does exist, I will search for it..." Turning back to Wolfie he asks, "Do you wish to lead or should I?"

“I’ll take point, but stay at the ready and stay quiet if it is a trap I want to know before it’s too late.” With that wolfie darts full speed and yet still on the tips of his toes, making almost no sound. It wasn’t fast enough for hydra to loose track of him however, he knew that. “let’s make the best of this” Wolfie thinks to himself

Upon reaching the edge of the light a small caravan could be seen “That’s good, but we aren’t in the clear yet,” Wolfie whispered to hydra upon hydra catching up “Let us scout the area first, look for everything from traps to monsters, that way we will know for sure if it is safe or not.”

With that wolfie started off to the right of the perimeter, he kept a close eye on the camp of the caravan along with looking for traps. He was dashing back and forth, while staying light on his feet. “I feel that we may be in the clear, but I don’t want to be wrong” He thinks to himself

(OOC: Kk no problem)

Hydra watched as Wolfie darted off into the night. "He did look a lot like Nixon..." He mumbled to himself watching him go. The spearman titled his up to the night sky, it wasn't like there was much to see but it helped to calm his nerves. "I wonder how everyone else is doing, if they are even still alive." The brunette let out a breath of air and watched it disperse into the darkness.

Remembering how quick Wolfie was, he himself then set off. His run was agile and of a moderate speed, but nothing like his new acquaintance had. After a while Hydra caught up to Wolfie who had stopped just outside the caravan and had already formulated a plan. The brunette listened before Wolfie then set off to scan the right side of the perimeter. Hydra slowly crept around the left. Nothing immediately jumped out at the player. Certainly nothing that seemed to be a trap or a monster.

A while after searching Hydra headed back. Wondering if Wolfie had had any luck.

It seemed safe enough, though Wolfie was not sure what a Caravan was doing this far out. Approaching Hydra, he whispers “The only logical option in my mind is that they are going to Horunka Village to deliver supplies and buy raw goods from the hunters. I didn’t find any traps or anything to be scared about. Thus, I think the chance of it being safe for us to approach is roughly 79%.” He thought for a moment, retracing his numbers and steps. That seemed right, still leaving room for the possibility of problem seeing as, no madder how well they search there is always the chance for problems. “I would like you to take the lead, I will watch your back. If you need me to talk when we get up there I can but…. I bet you got this, besides I am curious to see how you will do in this scenario.” Wolfie wasn’t smiling, but there was a hint of sadistic hope in his voice, if one knew how to place it. He didn’t care, he just waited for Hydra to take point.

After Hydra listened to Wolfie's request and was directed to lead. The spearman bowed his head a little. "As you command." He didn't really know what he was doing, but he felt a little bit like a knight in service to the king. Hydra turned towards the site and slowly began to approach, dispelling any 'what if' thoughts that tried to enter his mind. His movement was a little tense, but otherwise calm and collected if anything happened at least he would be ready for it. Eventually he reached the border of the caravan encampment, a warm glow erupted from any a nearby carriage. Although he couldn't make any people out, "Perhaps they are inside the caravan?" He pondered.  Slowly twisting his head around he signaled to Wolfie that it was safe to proceed. Once Wolfie had reached him, the spearman looked back at the caravan. "Should I wake them up?" Hydra asked, a sound of uncertainty lay within his voice.

Wolfie wasn’t too far behind Hydra, but he was doing what he could to figure out the situation. They seemed to be sleeping, but he wasn’t sure if that was the case. “No, we shan’t wake them” Wolfie said, the rain had fully let up at this point “I believe that if they are asleep we should wait and see what, or who they are before they are awakened.” Wolfie looked around and saw a small wood pile next to a fire pit. “I will light a fire, we should probably set up a watch for the night and try to get some sleep, if you have a preference as to when you watch is to be, I would be happy to oblige.” With that, Wolfie walks over to the fire pit and starts stacking the wet wood, stopping for a moment he checks the wing and elects to build a lean-to in order to allow the fire to last longer. He opened his inventory and took out a pack is cigarettes. He crumbled them up and arranged them into fire starter before attempting to light it.

The spearman watched as Wolfie set off to start a fire before turning to stare at the caravan. The plan seemed solid, but something felt unsettling. There was a bright glow coming through the window of the caravan, yet no one was around. "..." Hydra let out a sigh. "Im sure its nothing, perhaps they just sleep with the lights on." He mumbled, dismissing the paranoia.

Wolfie seemed to nearly have completed the fire by the time he rejoined him. "You are a jack of all trades." Hydra laughed lightly. It had been a long time since he had felt the warmth of a flame, the brunette was looking forward to it. He sat down on a broken stump of wood and watched his work. "I will take first watch if that is okay. Just in case any  of those beasts tracked us here." Hydra paused for a moment. "Say have you been to any of the other floors yet?" He finally asked, trying not to sound like he was pressuring his acquaintance for an answer.

Wolfie listened as hydra approached, hydra seem as though something was nothing him, normally wolfie wouldn’t care, but it doesn’t do for a bodyguard to have something plaguing their mind. “I make up for what I lack in sanity with my skills, that’s what happens when you live by yourself in the woods with No one but your pet to keep you company for over fourteen consecutive years. When you do that you don’t have much choice but to learn what you can to survive.” Wolfie said eyes glazed over slightly as if he were reminiscing. Coming back to reality he continues “Feel free to take first watch, I will go to sleep soon in that case. And as for my floors, I haven’t made it farther than floor 3, why do you ask?” Wolfie finally stopped talking, closed his eyes and opened his ears. He took in the surroundings, listening observing, taking in the world. The forest was peaceful, the trees were quiet. It was a nice feeling, though he knew it wouldn’t last long.

Hydra didn't know why he asked, but he felt he had earned some valuable information. A little bit of backstory to who Wolfie was, even if it was only a spec of information. "Im not entirely sure myself..." The spearman responded with, his eyes staring intently at the flames as they danced in sync with the breeze. A little after Wolfie had closed his eyes, Hydra felt alone again. He had only been living in the wilds for a few months now and it had been a struggle, but compared to 14 years that was nothing. Slowly he raised his head from the fire and peered out into the darkness, a feeling of sorrow in his heart.

Suddenly, all the warmth in the world couldn't stop the chilling feeling that travelled down his spine at that point. It felt as though he was being watched by thousands of eyes, all at once in an overwhelming number. His body froze up and for and he couldn't breathe. Part of the fire suddenly cracked, spitting out some flame and the feeling seemed to pass... They were alone again. But for how long was anyone's guess.

Wolfie heard the change in how hydra was sitting, he felt the small shudder through the dirt. He trained himself to do this while he meditated, so he could keep an eye on Abigale, and on the surrounding. He could tell, to some extent, what was going through Hydra’s mind. He recalled what the similarities in his own decent and the thin, cracking ledge that hydra sat upon. “Hydra, I don’t know what you have been through, I don’t know what your mind holds, but just because you feel alone doesn’t mean you are. You always have someone or something that relies on you. If you are like me then that is your pet, or I guess your familiar, for me it was Abigale. I am going to be open with you about my past from here on out. I want you to see what I have been through, know who I am. That way you can see why I am still alive, why I never gave up. This world is cruel, no one in this world is one hundred percent trustworthy. But, know this, I would rather die than watch someone fall into the pit of darkness that I fell into, to see someone I cannot save, to fail those I care about again. So, if you are willing to hear me, then listen because I am about to tell you about my life. You will probably be the only one who hears any of this so I pray thee guard it well.” Wolfie said, his eyes still closed. His voice was very different. There was still the gravel but the dominant push was gone, as was any intimidating aspect. His voice was calm, soothing and relaxed. But at the same time it was genuine and accepting.

Hydra hadn't expected what came next. Wolfie spoke to him, in a tone he was unfamiliar to as of now. It was calmer and relaxed, it almost felt as though it was a friend speaking to him, one he had known for a long time. Whilst Wolfie spoke Hydra remained silent in voice and in expression. But he felt various emotions underneath. Sadness, guilt but also hope. After Wolfie had finished there was a long pause. "Thank you..." The brunette finally managed to say, his own voice shaken. He wiped away a tear from his eye. It had been so long since he had talked to anyone, and now someone who had nothing was trying to help him from ending the same way.

The fire continued to flicker in the night creating a mystical feeling, it seemed to remove all the dark thoughts that had been in his mind up until now. "I'd be honored to hear your story, and about Abigale" The spearman said. His own voice now calmer and in tune with the elements. "If at any point you wish to stop, if the emotions get to strong for you to bare then I will help you in what ways I can." He finished with waiting for a response.

“Alright then” Wolfie took in a breath and let it out slowly, “I will periodically stop to calm my anger, I doubt it will be that important, but whenever I do this feel free to ask any questions about it you may have.” He opens his eyes to get a cigarette as the fire cracked. Lighting it with the fire he takes a drag and closes his eyes once more

“We will start with my family. My father, Henry Blackhand, was a brilliant mind and biologist. He was the sort of man who could come up with an answer to any problem. He would work as a pharmacist in the lower income areas of town, his shops were many. His goal was to allow for those of low income to be able to afford prescription drugs and still be able to pay bills. Using the money, he made from his scientific works he was able to accomplish this, and he did it very well. My mother, Caroline Blackhand was an outdoors woman. She worked as a park ranger and would spend summers as a fire watch from time to time. They were so happy together, so at peace, so at ease. I was too, none of us ever fought, there was no hardship in sight. Though as you probably know, life will never allow this.” Wolfie took a quick drag of his cigarette before continuing

“Then one day, we were walking with my father to his shop. When someone who was waiting outside, seemingly deranged, and angry, attacked us. I watched as he slit my father’s throat, then he abused my mother. I watched him play with her flesh, I watched her eyes plead for help. Then I watched as they changed to a plead for death. Oh, I forgot to mention, he tied me up so that I couldn’t move, I was forced to sit and watch as he broke my mother. When all was said and done he told her he would let her go, she was so excited to be set free but as soon as the ropes were untied, he stabbed her in the back then up her back, I watched as the light faded from her eyes, I watched as she was killed. Knowing I couldn’t do anything to help her I sat there. He looked at me, a Massive grin, like he knew how I felt, whispered in my ear. ‘Why didn’t you save them? Why didn’t you stop me? You are weak minded, weak willed, and useless.’ Then he let out a terrifying laugh, one that haunts your dreams and left me stuck there. Staring at my mother’s lifeless body, those words he said circling in my mind. I was only seven years old.” He paused as he fought back the memories

Wolfie's story was one like none Hydra had ever heard, it was disturbing mentally, heart wrenching and stressful to listen to. "I'm sorry..." The spear man said as he clenched up his fists trying to fight back more tears, he doubted his words would provide any condolence, all he could do was feel helpless. When Wolfie paused there was a silence, then Hydra spoke. "You're parents. They sounded like good people, ones who would put others needs before there own. That is something I value greatly, If you don't mind continuing, I'd like to find out what happened to the monster that killed your parents." There was the sound of anger in Hydra's voice, so much so that he almost spat out the word monster. Then he continued now standing up as though he were challenging the world itself.  "And you can't blame yourself, you weren't weak... as you said yourself that is why you are here now." Hydra's voice continued to raise in tone eventually sounding as it were contaminated by a thirst for blood. "I swear on my own life if anyone tries to put you through that again I will kill them myself!"

The spearman retreated a little now taking deep breaths of air, this was not something he would joke about. He glanced back up to Wolfie... "Any who oppose you, will fall before my spear. Or I will die stopping them." He raised his weapon for a moment examining it, then slowly fell back down into his seat. "Please continue if you can."

Wolfie listened to Hydra, listened as a familiar bloodlust rang from his lips. Upon being asked to continue Wolfie nodded. “Once I finally got untied, I ran. I ran fast, I wanted to go home. Once I got inside and locked the door, I wept. Everything still fresh in my mind. About three days later some men came to the house, they told me that My Fathers wealth had been ‘acquired’ by the bank because I wasn’t old enough to handle the money. Which, as a seven year old, made enough sense. In all actuality, it was siphoned out of his account by the Co-workers he had earlier in life. Not but a month after that I was kicked out of the house because I couldn’t pay bills and there was no more money left to my last name. They tried to take me to an Orphanage, so I ran. I ran into the woods. They never came looking for me, they never found me, they never cared. Broken, scared and afraid I wandered the forest. And when I had given up I heard a small yelp, animistic in nature. I ran towards it, wanting to help, or at least see what it was. Upon my arrival, I found a puppy, maybe four months old. He leg was bleeding really bad and she was horribly malnourished. I was at a distance an saw something else there as well. There were a group of guy, not too much older than me at the time, they were laughing while kicking her. I saw one of them had a bloody knife. I looked into the puppies eyes and saw the same face that had been plaguing me. Her eyes had the same pleading expression of my mother. They seemed to scream ‘Help Me’ ” Wolfie made a quick pause to take another drag of his cigarette, “I was so enraged. I didn’t care anymore I ran up to them and flung myself in front of the group. Yelling at them to stop. That is when something in me snapped. ‘Oh, like YOU can stop us’ the one holding the knife ‘You should just run home to mommy while you still can, or else Y-‘ he wasn’t able to finish that last sentence. He was so focused on his speech that he opened himself to a weak point. I dashed up to him grabbed then knife that he had used to hurt the puppy and pierced his throat. I watched the surprised expression before the life drained from his eyes. The other two watched before they ran. Immediately after, I turned to the puppy, Tore part of my jacked and started to bandage her leg. I then lead her to the small shelter I had made out of twigs and leaves in the forest. I named her Abigale, and she never left my side.”

A rogue wind picked up silencing any other noises from the outside world. Hydra also remained quiet as Wolfie continued his story. "I see." The spearman responded with once he had finished, "So that's why you fled to the forest." Hydra stood up and began to gather some more wood for the fire, it's flames now dying. Though he continued speaking. "The person you killed... they deserved it. That monster from earlier, he will get what is coming to him." The spearman's voice was cold and eerie as he said it. After a few moments the young adventurer began placing the logs around the fire, one by one to form a pyre, a smaller version of the type they used at funerals in the medieval ages.

"And Abigale, did she live?" He continued, his face now being licked by the flames. Deep beneath his armor Twilight emerged, full body this time, awoken by the conversation. It's snake like body and two heads coiled around Hydra's spear before both of them turned to stare deeply at Wolfie, she let out no cries this time. "I think she wants to hear your story also." Hydra commented noticing his familiar come out of hiding. "She doesn't like most people. I found her wounded, crying on a rock. Much like what happened to Abigale, although not nearly as worse..."

Wolfie nodded at the serpent. It seemed that Hydra may have more in common with Wolfie than Wolfie originally though. The fire was roaring, warming him to the core. Though not melting his heart. “For the next 6 months, I lived off the land. I didn’t have anyone too help me, nor did I have any sense of time. It was just Abigale and myself. On winter morning, I found that I had run out of food. My stock pile had run dry, and the winter wasn’t even half over. Already malnourished from months of heavy portioning, I knew I had to re-enter the city. I met a girl, maybe 17 at the time, when I entered the city with Abigale. She was very sweet and even offered me a place to stay for a while. I stupidly agreed. The first night, while I was asleep, the girls parents bound me and dragged into some sort of dungeon. They proceeded to physically abuse me, I watched them, watched their eyes while the did it. I felt my heart becoming cold, I knew it’s what they wanted but I couldn’t stop it.i felt my mind break, the intense physical abuse and verbal abuse that I went through, lasted somewhere between 3 and 5 months, though I never allowed them the pleasure of watching me break. I always did that in the dark after they left. Abigale had ran, I don’t know what she was doing when they were tormenting me but when I finally was out she was waiting for me when I finally got free.”  Wolfie paused to look into the fire, recomposing his weavering voice “Upon leaving, I was very malnourished and could barely walk, Abigale helped me stable myself and we were stopped by a group of kids. Apparently lead by one of the kids that watched me kill from the group, before. They threw insults at me and pushed me to the ground. That’s when Abigale returned the favor, she tackled the leader to the ground and bit into his throat very hard. After he was dead she helped me up and we went back into the woods.”
