[SP-F2] Grab the Light <<Let there be light>>

Recommended Posts

He did not have any plans out for the day until now. The story was simple, yet kind of complicated at the same time. To put it in the easiest term, he was kind of forced into it. While not swayed by emotions, there was a chance that it brought him a little bit more Col. While he was not entirely brought like his gear might suggest, he was still more than willing to gain a little more cash. The mother saw his spear before begging him to get her child. An interesting task for sure, but it was not something that was impossible for him to handle. He needed to bring back some NPC girl to her mother from some monsters. It was the average quest with a little more profit at the end of it, which was something that no one should say no to. At least in his opinion, and he cared a lot about the pay that the game had to offer him. The more Col, the more nights that he earned himself inside of the inn. Soon, he would probably be able to buy the inn itself, though it's likely to not even be on sale in the first place.

The dangerous part of the task if how it was in a cavern, which meant that it could hinder his sight a little bit since he did not quite have a source of light to help him out. Irony. Anyways, he was able to get out of the safe zone with no problem, since the second floor was not too different from the first floor. A bit more land to scape, but that was about it in his opinion. So he'd begin the journey out towards the caverns, seeing what he could find over there. The boss monster was expected to be a giant bat, meaning it probably was able to see him clearly. Something must be done to raise his leverage if he wanted a bit of hope against the being. His best guess would to try to be quiet, forcing it to look around only without any traces of his existence. This might allow him to gain a hit, but that was about it before they were put on less than even terms. Hopefully it would be enough to get the task done.

In doing this, he would feel the air around him begin to chill a bit. The aura of the area that he was in was beginning to lose energy, the heat, as he would end up nearing the caverns shortly after he got out of the safer part of the outside world. The cave was blue on the outside, acid blue to be exact. The darkness on the inside however was not quite something he could appreciate, and he can only hope that his combat experience against the bat was enough to defeat it. Tightening his hold on the spear in his hands, he'd begin to proceed, taking as much caution as he can when it came to this sort of environment. The darkness would begin to envelop around the atmosphere of his screen, showing that there was no hope of having the outside world light up the inside of the cave. The tensions were rising, but if he himself is tense about the scenario in front of him, he could only imagine how the little child was feeling. This alone egged him to move on.

The darkness would continue to cover up his whole entire view as he would end up being able to see nothing at this point. Now he needed to keep his steps nice and calm, give no reason for any monster to be provoked in this environment. This was a lot harder to execute than what one can expect, but he was still willing to give it a shot. Nothing else can be done about it. As he did this, he would begin to see what was inside the cavern, his eyes fixing on the scene in front of him. They were able to adapt depending on the situation, but it was still dark regardless. With this, he would end up hearing a screech from up front, and as quick as light, he would take a hit from the bat as it swung at him and hit him with a massive amount of impact. Being knocked onto his back, the word "Critical" would be placed above his head, showing that whatever hit him... It hit him rather hard, inflicting extra damage.

Now he was focused, the adrenaline running through his body insanely fast. Now he needed to fight for his life, because it was clearly trying to rip his head off. Though he did not have so much of an advantage against it, he knew more about it than it knew about him. For example, with his Sword Arts, he should be able to lower it's low health down to level. It would take a bit of energy in the process though, so he must make sure to not use it often. That is where he needed to work on saving it before spending it. If this meant taking a hit or two, so be it. He needed to make sure to not take too much damage, but with his newfound armor that he had gotten from a previous quest, he was able to take a lot more damage than he had to before. So with this, he would charge towards the direction the bat went, aiming a blind strike towards that direction with a lot of faith over the hit.

Eye for an eye, they both exchanged a decent amount of damage from that last round. While he could not quite see the field boss, which has a body that blended well with the surroundings. Now while this is the case, he still could hear it, considering it was nice enough to let out a nasty screech every time it declared an attack. This was the information that he needed to take care of it without taking the damage. So with this, he would wait, closing his eyes since he did not quite need them before he then would hear it flapping towards him, followed by the screech a few seconds later. He would make an attempt to jump to the right side, only to hit a wall right next to him, meaning he would not be able to move out of the way. By the time he realized this, he was unable out of the way. The impact of the blow against him was not so bad, and fortunately for him, he ended up having the tip of the assault spear extended, also damaging it in the process.

The both of them would be pushed back from the impact, Sey making sure to stop his momentum of sliding before then pressing his knees against the ground before then leaping out towards the bat once again. Due to this, he would end up swinging the spear upwards, with much succession as he ended up hitting it up where the neck was located. However, he ended up also taking the wing of the bat to his body in the process. A counter. Due to this, he would end up hitting his back against the rocky wall, which inflicting much more damage onto him before he helplessly fell back down onto the ground. With that, he would end up looking over towards the enemy's direction where he saw it last. Adjusting his eyes, he would see the outline of it scrambling back up to the feet. Sweet, it was not up yet either, he would be able to work on getting at it.

At this point, he felt the need to cool it down a little bit, because he knew that this was going to force him to run on low amounts of energy if he continues to fight in this state. He must be prepared, so he would hold his stance with the spear in front of him, wanting to defend from an attack. With this, he would look around to see where the bat was, since he had yet to hear it. The gentle flaps it made echoed, making sound like it was all around him. However, he would then be met from behind with it's wings to the back of the head as he was forced to stumble forward, taking the damage, but nothing too sever fortunately for him. Not prepared enough, and his health was beginning to take an impact, but it was not too far down. There was still not too much worry in this fight, just as long as he conserved his energy for long enough, he should be fine. Hopefully he can fend it off long enough.

More incoming damage as the bat was not yet done, swinging down from above to string that attack it carried out in the form of a combo, nothing he had expected from an NPC before. As a result, he ended up falling forward on his face, more damage taken, as a result of the combo, sever damage was taken. Slamming his fist against the ground in anger, he would push himself back up to his feet. Teeth clenched, eyes hollowed, he did not care too much for saving his energy now. He wanted that bat defeated. The spear was on the ground, so he would stomp on the handle to tilt it towards him. He'd then have the blade placed up to his hand, catching it before he used his left hand to take it by the handle once again. Now he was not using his mind, but his instinct. The bat may have not noticed it, but that damage was rather tough to swallow at once. Sey had his pride.

So he braced himself for the attack, ready for the bat and hoping that it would be able to make a mistake, in which he would capitalize. Right now, he felt the heat of his body rising, and he can't afford to let his energy slip too far out of his body. In doing so, he would end up losing a lot of strength and eventually leading himself either unto his downfall, or for a hope to escape. He knew he was close to beating it, just a little more, but there was a brother among the both of them. So they had to keep dancing until he was able to safely make a strike. Despite how angered the player was, he was willing to be tame for the moment before striking in for revenge. Somehow, after he heard a swoop and felt the wind fly by his head, he noticed that the bat somehow missed him. Perhaps he was a bit luckier than expected, or maybe he damaged it enough to make it lose focus. Either way, that worked well in his favor.

The both of them kept drawing blanks towards each other. The player was defending, but not making any move until he knew that he could make it. Placing his spear up once again, he would make sure to swing it around to the sides to make sure there was enough evasion space to work with. The metal clicked with the rock around his right side, so he'll make sure not to leap towards that direction. With this, he would end up moving himself towards the left as the screech of the bat would emit once again, showing it's attempt to rip through him, but with no avail at the end of the attack. He was feeling refreshed as his body temperature seemed to resume back to normal. However, no hasty counterattack would be made yet, he would not like to waste any more of his strength if there was no need for it. So with this, he would wait for his chance, then get the revenge that he so desperately thirsted for.

It seemed almost as if he had it! His eyes would see a little bit of the outline on his enemy, maybe this was what he needed in order to declare his attack onto the bat. However, to his unfortunate dismay, he would take the brunt of the wings once again from behind, meaning that his eyes were unable to help him out. They instead tricked him, he did not know what was real in the cave and what was not. Unfortunately, while he thought he would swing back at the bat, he felt like it would have no use. So he held back from using the attack, knowing full well that it would not work. A guaranteed hit would be nice, but it seemed to know how he was acting and preventing itself from giving him a chance. Gears needed to be shifted if he wanted to inflict damage again. The bat was slowly gaining on him when it came to health, and what added a bit more salt to the wound was knowing that it was not the only one.

The one factor that he missed was the fact that he was not the only being with energy, but the bat must have been too. In that case, considering the many times it tried to claw his face off and behead him with it's wings, it probably needed a break. This would have made for a great opportunity for him to strike onto it... But he was not so lucky and did not have that much hope. The light was far too dim for him to see through. Even if he were to get to it, it would probably get out of wherever it was quickly before it could get struck. So why bother? This was just a chance to catch up before the battle continued. Unfortunately, the control belonged to the field boss, and it only continued when it wanted to continue. If it declared an attack, that was when they would lock in combat. There was no control for him this time, and only fate may guide him now. Placing his palm in his pocket, his other hand with the spear, he'd wait.

It did not take too long for the field boss to strike however, as it would make a sudden attempt and lash out towards him. This time, he felt like he could do it. He aimed to sacrifice a little bit of health to put the monster down to a critical amount of health. Using one of his sword arts, he'd aim to hit with two strikes rather than one, both of them aiming for vital spots. The both of them would exchange damage with each other, a cut from the wind to the side of his neck, and two strikes to the chest from his own spear. One of them would land back on the ground on their feet, the other would sprawl on the ground with a nasty amount of knockback before being slammed against the wall of the cave. Sey felt the battle coming to a near end, what with the health of the monster being in the red zone. One more hit, that was all he needed, and this could be over. Then he would rest before facing off... Against another.

The winded bat would quickly flee the area before he got a chance to get to it, somehow it was able to move around freely. NPC monsters seem to not mind the state they are in, and they will fight until the very end to do so. A very interesting and unfortunate process, surely, but it was something that made a game a challenge. He was not in a critical state, though he knows that he'll be entering the yellow zone very soon, so it would be wise to not provoke it while it was not provoking him. This game simulated illusional strength, but that was only good if one could use it correctly. So with this, he placed his spear up, ready for the bat to attack again... Though it did not. Perhaps it was scared due to how low in health it was. That goes against his theory, but it's still possible. Or perhaps it took too much damage and can't function well enough anymore. Either way worked, but he was incorrect.

As usual, he looked a little bit too soon and would end up getting a nice cut to the neck because of it, the enemy stealthily masking it's noise to get to him without him suspecting a  single thing. A red "Critical" would once again appear on the top of his head as he felt down onto the ground, coughing from the nasty impact with a vital part of his body. His luck was not too good today, that impact was most certainly painful to endure. With this, he would slowly get back up onto his feet as his health bar would change from green to yellow, adding in a little bit of an alert noise and causing the bar to increase a little bit in height. Nothing could be any more obvious that that, and he needed to save his health for the next fight. He lost too much as it is with with one, so hopefully he can make up for that and end the next battle quickly. However, things aren't quite going his way now... Why would it later?

Another strike came from the side, another critical onto his head. Seems like a pattern is being started, one that was not looking the slightest bit decent for him. Just one more hit, but how can he even hold up his weapon if the bat won't even let him pick up his weapon. On top of that, it was landing critical hits all over the place. His health was being severely damaged while the bat was getting off scott-free with many critical hits. It was going to die, there was no doubt about that, but it left so many hits on his body that it was going to be difficult to live through the second fight. Escaping was slowly becoming more and more tempting, and he did not need to be tempted so much for something like this. This would not be his first time bailing out either... His pride would be crushed if this were the second. So all he could do was wait for an opening... He did not want this to be the end. Not yet.

Of course, that was much easier said than done, as he had been cornered and forced to sit down on the rocky ground of the cave. This was not a quest that he thought he might actually die in, but it was getting to him. Not only that, as the bat continued to ram through him with it's sharp wings, he was unable to get up from the ground. His body was being battered and his energy was actually increasing in the process, but what was the point of it if it was not something he could use. His body was getting weaker and weaker, the movement of his arms lowering as it would let out the barrage it did. An escape would be lovely, but that was not an option either considering he had no idea where the exit was anymore. The spear in his hand was all he had left to rely on. But the thought of the girl... The instant he remembered that, he knew that he could not escape. Somehow, he must get to her.

Suddenly, everything seemed to come to light. Not a single pixel of movement went unnoticed, and he felt his ambition pressing him on as he would dodge the sudden swoop that helped with stringing a seemingly endless loop of combos. This caused the bat to crash to the ground as it did not expect the sudden reaction, but it was what had happened. While it was down, it was right next to the player, who knew full well what to do at this point. Raising his spear up, he would trigger a basic sword art, aiming for the neck of the field boss the best he could in the darkness. Snake bite. With that, two stabs to the back of the neck would result in the demise of the field boss, causing it to shatter in the air as pieces of data. On top of it would be an HUD screen, reading "1/2". That was correct... There was a second one in there, now wasn't there? Meaning that he'd have to do the same thing he did now... In his weakened state. Rest was crucial if he wanted to beat the quest.

Putting his back against the wall, he would begin to breathe, making sure to regain as much energy and health as he could before the next fight. However, upon thinking of that, he then remembered something. His skill... He brought a skill with him to the fight but never truly used it. Flicking his finger out to his skill slots, he would press the skill that could have saved him a lot more than would have imagined, he'd then accept it and put the HUD down. He'd begin to gasp a bit, but at least his health was being brought back to him. The other giant bat might have heard him, it would only be a matter of time before it would fight him and aim to kill him. The player can't allow that to happen, so if it came while he was healing, he was going to have to make a run for it. While being out of battle for so long, he should be fine and heal himself back together. The system recognizes it as him being done with battle.

1/3 Posts without combat

(I had Battle Healing Skill before this thread, I just forgot about it and remembered mid-fight. It will be used in the next one though)
