[SP-F1] <<The first few lessons are free>> learning... [complete]

Recommended Posts

Dominion was looking around the first floor city for any quests he may have accidentally missed, excluding a few that he intentionally chose to do at a later time. He walked along the smaller roads which didn't lead straight to the starting gate, because he was very accustomed to the layout of the city. As he walked through the merchants area, shops opening and closing, he noticed an NPC exiting his shop. Dominion crossed over to the other side of the road, making sure to dodge players that were walking in the shadows, to go and greet the man. "Hello sir, my name is Dominion the monk. I have seen you once before, but you looked busy and I decided to keep to myself. How are you?" Dominion stated his questions and comments to the NPC. The NPC responded to Dominion with a smile, "I would like to teach you a few lessons for free, if you are of a lower level and have the time."

Dominion was slightly confused by the manner of which this person was talking, almost directly getting to the point. He himself was not opposed to being taught new things, especially when he could learn how he mechanics worked. "Why sure, I would gladly receive help from a person like you. But first, what may I do to assist you?" Dominion asked with a friendly smile back. This guy is really awesome, I sure hope he can teach me a lot. The man was welcoming to Dominion by offering his hand for a handshake. "My name is Zackariah. I need you to first go out into the grass lands on this floor and find some materials. Once you have found 5 tier 1 materials, Find me and I will teach you about potions." Zack told Dominion. "Well, I will go right now into the grasslands and do as you say!" Dominion said with great excitement.

Dominion turned from his discussion with Zack and looked around and spotted the gates. Dominion began to go towards the starting gates with a bit of a long stride, his hands moving to a tune in his head. He walked along the path, but when he began to pass an alleyway, he thought he saw a small plant. It didn't seem to belong to anyone specifically, so Dominion thought that he could just check it out, as it wouldn't hurt to ask for it and trade Col if it was any good. However, as Dominion walked into the gloomy alleyway, Dominion came to realize that the plant was withering away, with only slight green left at the base of the stem. Well, so much for going the easiest way out. Looks like I will need to become an herbalist, because that is the easiest way to get materials.. or so I heard from somewhere.

Dominion finished his thought before starting to turn around. However, Dominion might have mistook something that he saw on the roof as he moved his head. It also looked like a plant from a better inspection, as it was in something like a pot. However, as it was rather darkly lit in the Alleyway, Dominion would need to gain access to the roof in order to take a better look. Dominion used his superior physical abilities to quickly scale the wall of the building beside him. He reached the roof of building and stood up. He could see now that it wasn't a plant at all, but a basket with a feather that was caught in the wicker. Well, the basket might be useful to take with me for holding my materials that I will find...So I will bring it with me... Dominion swiped over the item to pick it up and put in his hands. This will do nicely.

Dominion was now feeling great about his finding on top of the roof, even if it would be only good aesthetically. Dominion realized that he had to get back down without harming the basket that was in his hands. I think I can handle getting back to the ground without the use of both my hands... So Dominion jumped backwards off of the rooftop, grabbing his hand onto a window ledge. He then turned his body to face towards the street beneath him and braced himself. He placed his feet against the wall which he was clinging to, and with that he jumped off. A major display of acrobatics was not necessary, but he still landed by rolling his body across the ground and was standing back up in no time. The basket was still fine, which was very lucky for him. Now, where to next? Dominion thought to himself.

Dominion then began to walk out from the gloomy alleyway, his wicker basket was proudly help in his right hand. He looked both ways and went in the direction that lead to the entrance of the city. As he passed by random strangers, he waved and greeted them. One player he realized that he hadn't seen in quite some time was Wolfie. He always hid in the shadows when he could. Some players even thought he, Dominion, was a NPC, as he just hung around on the first floor doing his normal routine. Dominion was waving to someone, when that person shadily walked over to Dominion. "Hello sir, M..." Before Dominion could finish his greeting, the man pointed over to a long column of flowers. "Check over there..." Dominion wondered for a second, but decided the man could only be trying to help. Dominion walked over the flowerbed and picked one up. It seemed to work as a material.

Following the odd encounter with the cloaked figure, Dominion continued to walk forward, keeping his mind from wandering too much. Not put a few minutes or less, Dominion arrived at the city gates. He quickly crossed over into the territory of the mobs, otherwise called the grasslands. He crossed over and thought he had found a unique flower beside a single tree, one where many players would randomly meet on the first floor. perfect, not even that far out of the city flowers can apparently grow. Dominion made headlong to reach that place, but saw a bird swoop down and tear the flower from the earth. Well, the bird probably needed the flower more than myself, especially since it needs to make an abode for the smaller birds. Dominion just continued straight forward and kept his eyes open and alert for possible materials that could be used my a smith... or any profession for that matter.

He walked forward with both his hands in his jean pockets. He was turning his head to the left and right to take glances at the landscape. However, on his third round of turning his head, he caught sight of an object on the ground. It was about 25 feet to his right. Somewhat hidden by the grass, a small piece of flint was sticking out of the ground. Does that thing count as a mat? Not like it will harm me if it is not, so I guess I will pick it up. Dominion turned his body from its original course and approached the flint stone. It had a rigid edge, not quite dull, but definitely not sharp. He grabbed it with his hands and placed it in his basket. He would need to make certain that this object counted as a mat for the sake of crafting stuff, most likely with Zack. Dominion began to stand back up from where he knelt down.

Dominion had gotten up with little chance to stretch. He could feel his left knee pop as he stood straight up and began to walk forward. As he passed one of the other lone trees on the grasslands, Dominion also caught sight of a feather. Dominion didn't know if feathers could be considered mats, but that would not deter him from using it on his items on the off-chance. Dominion turned his body again, making sure to stay clear of a mob that stood but a couple feet away from his current location. He was not sneaky, but didn't do anything that would justify cause to attack him. He got close to the little thing, lowered his body so that he would be closer to the ground, and inspected it. He picked up the feather and held it close to his eyes, trying to catch any detail of having been held by a player before.

Dominion was planning to stand up, but he heard something in the sky. "Is that... a Bird?" Dominion took notice to a bird flying in the distance. "So, this feather must have come from that ..." Dominion followed the bird with his eyes, but then began to lower his head so that he looked down at the ground. Another bird feather was only 35 or so feet away. He just needed to go over and pick it up. Dominion got back up and moved toward the feather, which just laid in the sunlight, currently untouched. Dominion finally got there and knelt down again. He grabbed the feather with extreme delicacy and placed the feather in his basket of mats. That feather will surely do nicely. Now that I have picked a flower, grabbed two feathers, and a piece of flint which was on the ground for some unknown reason. Dominion pondered this.

Dominion turned abruptly around and began to head back to the city. As he walked, he stumbled upon a container of salt that was just laying there on the ground. Wow, does that thing count as a mat? well, no use leaving it here. Dominion leaned down and picked up the sat container, placing it in his basket of mats. He proceeded to walk the dirt path, with its twisty and sharp turns, back to the main city. He had a small flashback to his encounter with a raging boar, which was something Dominion intended to forget. He entered the gates and looked for the cloaked dude, but he couldn't find him. Well, it was offly nice of him to assist me in finding a mat while still inside the city. That made this process so much easier. Dominion thought this to himself as he approached Zacks shop, wearing a genuine smile on his face.

Dominion knocked on the door with is right hand, leading into the area where Zack told Dominion to find him. A couple seconds of silence ensued before Zack appeared at the door. "Hello, this is Zack. How may I..." Zack looked up and noticed that it was Dominion. "Aw, yes. Come on in. We will begin making potions immediately." Zack said without giving Dominion any further information. Dominion replied back as he entered into the building, "So, I am supposed to help you make a potion?" Dominion was somewhat confused but did not mind that challenge. "By all means, how do we get started? Dominion asked. Zack brought him over to the potion station area and began checked the materials. "These should all be fine, so try your best", Zack told Dominion. Dominion failed his first attempt, as he spilled some water into the solution, which caused the entire potion to vaporize instantly.

Dominion was supported by Zack, who watched his failure occur. "Well, I think I did something wrong... maybe I should focus a bit more." Dominion said loud enough for Zack to hear him from behind. Dominion did not get angry with this, nor did he show any emotion besides a smile. This was a task that would require more concentration than Dominion actually had. "Yeah, you are doing a good job for your first time. Keep up the hard work." Zack said in reply. Wow, Zack must be an NPC, but he is doing a fantastic job at characterizing a player. The programmers of this game did a mighty find job.Dominion gripped the flask a bit harder now, concentrating just the right amount of liquid to crushed solid ratio. When he mixed up the flask by swirling it around, generally in place, Dominion had finished. He handed the potion to Zack for him to inspect. "This look good enough?" Dominion asked Zack.

Zack responded behind Dominion, "Yeah, that potion will do. Now, would you mind traveling to a local blacksmith by the name of Tealeaf? I have a package that must be delivered to him, but I am sort of busy." Dominion was not hesitant with his response, "Why, of course I will deliver your package for you. Is Tealeaf usually in a shop, or does he have a specific area which he can usually be found at?". Zack replied to his questions by saying, "Yeah, he should be just down the road, as this is the merchants district of the town. However, I remember him saying something about getting other items further down the road, so you should check there first." Dominion began to turn towards the door and walked over to it, and before he exited the shop, grasped the package from Zacks arms. "Don't worry Zack, I won't let you down."

Dominion turned his head to face down the street. He wore his white shirt and jeans proudly, his ruffled blond hair took to the breeze. The buildings, which Dominion was now accustom to seeing every other day, were rather basic in nature. They reminded him of one of the building he stayed at in the real world, which heart his aching heart. He truly did yearn, at times, to go back. Refocusing, he knew that those buildings were well crafted and sturdy buildings, very well designed by the programmers of the game for the beginning town. Dominion hardly ever found the time to appreciate things so basic, but marvelous none the less. Dominion took several steps forward, being careful to dodge people that came into his path. He was an agile fighter, but he was also a very agile pedestrian. He managed to get out of the way when a towering NPC walked toward hin, which was not someone Dominion had seen before. Dominion was on a quest, so he wouldn't have the time to talk to strangers.

Dominion kept moving forward, his eyes set to help whoever this NPC was and deliver the item. He looked to both sides, hoping he would find the correct shop. His eyes quickly focused on Domarus's shop, one that was quite pretty in design. Domarus really did a fine job making that shop... I sure hope it's design will attract many customers. Dominion realized that he had stopped in the middle of the street, not that it was too much in the way for passerby's, but he felt as though he were clogging the flow. He quickly moved to the side again to allow another group of players pass. One of these shops must be owned by that guy.... Oh crud, I forgot his name already. Looks like this is going to be a long game of search and find. He walked another step forward to see the title: Tealeaf written in small font beside a building.

  • 2 weeks later...

Dominion smiled as he walked up to the building to get a closer look. Inside, there was nobody visible. This was Probably because the light from inside was just a mirror reflection of the sun. Dominion stepped back to look at the name. It suddenly hit him that the name Tealeaf was the name he was actually after. "Hey, excuse me. Do you know where the owner of this shop is right now?" Dominion called out to the people walking on the streets. Most players just stared at him, and for a good reason. Almost nobody had heard of that name before, except those who lived or made a living nearby. An answer from someone on the street said, "Yeah, I think I know where he is. But, why does it matter to you?" The man was still seemingly young in age, which was fortunate for him. Dominion replied with the following: "Because I have a message for him."

The response which Dominion was given surprised him more than just about anything from before. "Well, I would be him then. What is this message you need to deliver to me?" He said rather bluntly. Dominion was going to hold off from giving him the message until he realized that the man standing before him, the same man who asked the question, was Tealeaf. "OH, you are Tealeaf. Pleasure to meet you" Dominion said as he handed over the package message from Zack. "It is from Zachariah, so I hope you can find a use for it. I am not quite sure what it is, but I can tell you that I have not tampered with it." Dominion said with a smile. His golden, messy hair was as always and he had a smile on his face to convey his honesty. The man Tealeaf thanked Dominion for what he had done and began to open the door to his building.

Dominion turned to walk back the way he had come. There was not much left for him to do now, but return to Zack and explain to him that he delivered the package. He was walking back when he saw some commotion between to players. Dominion did not have an interest to join in the quarrel, especially one that was resulting in yelling and threats. Dominion stopped and thought. He knew that he could move over to the other side of the street and possible pass unnoticed by the players on that side. Dominion could not think of a better idea, and so he moved over to that side of the street. As he passed by, one of the players was hit and fell down in front of Dominion. Dominion's kind nature kicked in, "Hey dude, you ok?" Dominion asked. He helped the player up, but not before the other player came over to give another punch.

Dominion could see the man's shadow in the reflection from a window. "Halt! Do not come closer to this player!" Dominion yelled. His voice was not intimidating on purpose. He knew that most people could not be simply scared off by the sound and appearance of another person. "Dare you try to hurt this player in a safe zone, you will face me!" Dominion said, his voice unwavering. Dominion stood up and turned to face the player. He was about his height, maybe a little smaller. "Leave at once!" Dominion shouted and pointed down the road. The player just smirked and turned his body. He was a player who seemed to hide in the shadows of the first floor constantly, while Dominion was a player who moved in the light. Dominion looked back down at the player that was bruised from the fist attack. "Hey, dude? Are you alright?" The player laid on the ground, his hands at both sides but breathing fine. He must have gone unconscious, which was not the worst thing in the game.
