Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) The last dream Takeshi had last night was himself mixing a bunch of strange chemicals that when combined, resulted in an immensely strong acidic solution. It practically serves no use but as a detergent, but he decided to test it against an object anyway. As if something had listened to his thoughtful question about a potential object, a mass of organic tissue appears behind him, its 'tendrils' latching against the ceiling and the walls. Unnerved by its appearance, Takeshi gulped softly to compose himself and without hesitation, splashed the acid onto the mass. Immediately, it was completely disintegrated in a way that it seemed to be eaten away by tiny organic life. The tendrils hung loosely as Takeshi finished observing the effects of the acid. If it was able to destroy the tissue like that, then what if it is splashed against a fully formed, organic living being? Takeshi could only concluded that both the skin and muscle tissue would be severely corroded, perhaps leaving the victim mostly, or partially skeletal. ...That would be quite a dangerous but effective weapon against his rivals. Suddenly, he knew what to do now and started to make more, mass producing the substances for the next gang war. Edited January 23, 2017 by Takeshi
Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted January 23, 2017 The first thing that comes to Takeshi's mind in the morning is the memory of his usage of chemical weapons in gang warfare. He remembered himself corroding a lot of his victims and leaving them dead. If the stock in hand is finished, he would proceed to use his fists, gun or wakizashi as normal. Blowing up enemy hideouts was also a common thing to do, and the results were devastating to say the least. Bombed inhabitants barely survived the effects of flammable chemicals like napalm. Having enough of thinking about his past as a gangster, Takeshi gets up and looks outside through the window of the inn. Today's weather is quite pleasant, and the beautiful sky and clouds are convincing enough for him to go out and look for materials. He is already thinking of reviving his alchemic interest by opening a shop, which will also serve as his means to make a living in Aincrad. Donning his iron breastplate and taking his iron sword, Takeshi steps out of the room.
Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) The grassland outside the Starting City are bustling with activity. Players improve their proficiency with weapons by sparring with each other or test their skills against the boars or wolves. Some couples are training together, or simply dating with a few spices of hugs, kisses and flirty behaviours. A group are seen to be discussing about moving on to the front lines, eager to start with the first or second floor dungeon for fat loot and massive combat experience. Practically, everyone seems to be getting used to their new life in Aincrad, and treat it as their own versions of Earth. Takeshi is the only player to not have anyone beside him. He walks past these people as some of them take a good look at him before moving on or secretly questioning his appearance, particularly his supposedly afro hair and his half-American appearance. His afro hair appears more like a giant, flame-looking hair that constantly flows together with the wind. Even weirder about him is that he looks older than his actual age. His eyes are blank, but fierce. Regardless of what they may think about him, Takeshi casually ignores all of this and moves on further until he reaches a small clearing inhabited by flowers and herbs. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Finding the herbs aren't a problem, as Takeshi had already found some of them. As he examines them one by one however, he realized that none of them have properties that are suited for alchemy. Two herbs called Relish may only be effective as a powerful cooking ingredient. Takeshi knows this as he once tried a dish called the Suzeraine Pastry. It was a very expensive and elegant dish, and it had a good reason to be tagged at a high price. With Relish, the pastry tasted like ultimate heaven, and it was so delicious that people would prefer it over any other pastries they tasted before. While wondering if any players ever cook the Suzeraine Pastry in Aincrad, Takeshi catches a glimpse of a group of flowers that are 'rainbow in color.' The extraordinary part of the flowers are their constantly sparkling surface, in addition to their smells that resemble various flavors of perfumes. Oddly they resemble either hibiscuses or roses, but Takeshi thinks that their appearance makes little difference to their properties. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Due to his uncertainty of whether these flowers would be suited for alchemy or not, Takeshi decides to leave them alone for now, and move on to search the rest of the flora. No sooner after he begins to continue his search, he hears a growl behind him and jumps away from the source of the sound. Looking back, he sees a lone wolf snarling at him, baring its sharp canine jaws as it snarls at its living meal. Takeshi lets out a sigh and closes his eyes briefly as he draws out his sword, standing clear from the flowers and herbs. Full of confidence, the wolf launches off towards Takeshi as it pants heavily, hungry for red meat. The black player remains stoic and motionless as he grips the handle of his weapon, waiting to strike at the right moment. Though the wolf has a low amount of health, the speed cannot be taken lightly in combat or evasion. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Takeshi waits for the right time to strike as the wolf comes to a close, but what he doesn't expect is that it abruptly shifts to a different maneuver, assaulting his body with its jaws and biting down onto part of the breastplate. He quickly knocks down the wolf, but it isn't painful enough to deplete part of its health. He backs away some more as he narrowly avoids its claw attacks, being partially thankful that his armor protected him from serious damage. But now he is in deep trouble, as he can neither run nor effectively predict the wolf's next attack. Its speed can dominate both of these options, thus forcing Takeshi to remain in the gladiator's ring. The wolf is already for another bite, and Takeshi could only scowl in response. It lets out a haunting howl before dashing at a slightly increased speed, barking like a rabid dog. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Both of Takeshi and the wolf unleash their own attacks towards each other, but they can only manage to miss and dodge at every attempt. After a series of dodges, the wolf jumps towards him with its jaws agape, but instead of biting down into his face or arm, its jaws landed onto the iron blade of his sword. The creature lets itself go before Takeshi can swing his sword in an attempt to get it off. Panting, but still not fatigued from the fight, Takeshi remains still as he tries to think of where to strike against the wolf. Piercing the sword into the mouth would mean an instant kill, but it is tricky to pull off. The leg can at least prevent itself from going full speed if slashed at the tendons. The last vital part to be considered severed would be the head, but perfect timing must be critical. Otherwise, he would receive a bite before he can fully swing. The wolf now run around Takeshi in circles, planning to strike him from behind as it finds it easier to subdue and kill him. Takeshi breathes calmly as he simply waits for its move. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) The incoming growl of the wolf is brief, and the wolf would have made it if it jumps at a lower level. Takeshi quickly takes action by ducking downwards, avoiding its fatal pounce as he quickly thrusts his sword upwards, its blade disembowels the creature. The wolf yelps in pain as its guts are spilled out moments before it is swung away from the blade's grasp. Now that the wolf's speed are impeded, Takeshi can no longer worry much about the wolf. However, this does not mean that he can stop taking his threat seriously, as he reckons that it will now uses its brute strength to kill its prey. The wolf weakly gets onto its paws, more blood spilling onto the grass as it lets out a small growl, glaring at Takeshi. Out of nowhere, he is already sprinting towards it as he swings his sword quite early, hoping that its reach can cut the creature from a distance. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) The blade poorly grazes the wolf's fur as it flies forward at a straight line. Takeshi attempts to slash its buttocks, but the wolf manages to use some of its remaining energy to dodge that attack. As he suddenly remembers that an injured wild animal can be potentially more dangerous than it normally is, he resists the urge to take another swing and steps back a little. Close to its demise, the wolf desperately howls in the hopes of getting a backup, and waits. Miserably, no other wolves come, and Takeshi soon feels pitiful to the creature. But the damage cannot be reverted, and besides, he is only defending himself from a natural predator who is hungry. Brushing off the feelings of sadness, he takes a deep breath as he plans to give it a quick and painless death in an effort to end its suffering. The wolf, now growling deeper than ever, sprints towards Takeshi as it goes berserk, clamping its jaws violently as it aims for whatever opening that can enable it to attack. Meanwhile, Takeshi has seen this coming and steps back a little further before it can pick up its speed. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Much to Takeshi's surprise, the wolf actually steps back and dodges his incoming swing, then proceeds to leap towards his legs and clamp its jaws against the flesh. Trying not to yell in pain, he plunges his sword downwards, aiming at its soft gums. But it swiftly lets his leg go and move away, thus causing him to miss the mark. The wolf shows no sign of stopping as it continuously advances forward each time it uses its claws or teeth to attack Takeshi, barely registering the existent wound on its belly. The player grits his teeth slightly as he notes the remaining health he has. Only one hit is needed to be dead, and this is quite worrying especially when this is only the first time he fights in Aincrad. Remaining calm helps a little, but he has no time to think of executing a planned attack. It is now or never. He has to strike at the first chance he gets. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Facing one last push, the wolf makes its jump at a high level, aiming at Takeshi's face. In response, he backs away with one leg and brings his sword up, the blade being horizontal. Amazingly, it manages to block the wolf's bite, and Takeshi quickly takes action by cutting across its jaws brutally. Instantly the wolf becomes lifeless and disintegrates as its injuries take their toll. Panting heavily, Takeshi sits down onto the ground and looks upwards, staring at the sky with a heavy feeling of guilt. The plan to kill him mercilessly never really happened, and even when it died after having its jaws severed, it may still feel pain at the brink of death. That is what Takeshi thinks right now, and he is hoping that he is wrong. The sun is getting higher now, but the clouds are seemingly moving to further obscure the sun's heat from the surface. Takeshi lies down onto the grassy ground as he lets his hair flowing among the cold breeze of the grassland. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted January 23, 2017 Looking at the grasses closely, Takeshi wonders if any of the small plants here have alchemic properties, but he soon dismisses it as he is a little too injured to care. The bite wound of his right leg is still noticeably serious, although not in a way that it is life threatening. Takeshi tears off a long piece of cloth from his pants, and uses it as an improvised bandage onto the wound. It stings when the cloth comes in contact with the wounded skin, but Takeshi finds it necessary to do so to lessen the chance of infection. Slowly standing up, Takeshi sheathes the sword into its scabbard before moving on to find a body of water to wash the wound. He isn't sure if such a location exists in the grasslands, but where else can he find water? After all, he feels quite thirsty and craves for iced cold lemonade, his favorite drink. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #13 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) The cold breeze blows a little stronger as Takeshi walks among the fields, limping every now and then. Like a desert survivor who is searching for liquids, he often mistaken several things as lakes, ponds or even wells. The wound seems to be bleeding a little faster no matter how tight he wraps his cloth around it. Thankfully, he worries no more as after a few more minutes of wandering, he finally found a small pond surrounded by both carnivorous and non-carnivorous plants. He reminds himself to rush towards his goal and proceeds calmly, sitting at the pond's edge as he removes the bloodied cloth and starts cleaning his wound. Takeshi takes a deep breath at each cleanup, withstanding the pain until the wound is clear of excessive blood. He tears off another piece of cloth from the other side of his pants and wraps it neatly around his leg. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #14 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Drinking this water from a pond is like drinking one of the purest liquids in the universe. Takeshi feels very refreshed and cool as the crystal clear liquid travels down into his systems, quenching his thirst in a short time. He is also lucky to find a small flowerbed composed of a group of known flowers that has healing properties. A lot of them are shaped like roses only smaller in size and lighter in color. As far as he knows, these flowers' healing abilities can be improved with a tweak of alchemy, enough to make a decent HP potion. He takes some of them and puts it into his inventory. He searches around the plants for any more ingredients, disregarding the carnivorous ones such as pitcher plants or venus fly traps as they aren't worth putting into the mix. As he doesn't want to be involved in combat for now, he frequently surveys his surroundings for any other incoming threats. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #15 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) It only takes little time to finish surveying the flora around the pond, as he can find no more ingredients. Lying down onto the ground, he uses his hands as support for his head and closes his eyes, the pain seemingly numbs after a while. He swipes his finger down and takes a look at his breastplate and sword, looking at their stats. It won't be long before both of these should be replaced with better equipment. If he can't afford to buy armor, the least he can do is to buy a shield, even if he can only afford a buckler. He begins to remember his younger self sparring with Riki with swords and shields, both blocking and exchanging blows viciously like Vikings. There is no room to unleash fancy moves that are often seen in movies, as these can always leave the attacker open to his opponent's weapon. He remembers the importance of bringing the sword forward, and constantly using the shield during the attack. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Takeshi's peaceful resting goes very well until he is awakened by the sound of audible snorting. He is startled by the sudden alarm and wakes up to see a boar just finished from chasing another one away from itself. It appears to be in a frenzy mood, although it either ignores or doesn't know of his presence yet. At this point, Takeshi is debating himself on whether he will face the boar or leave it alone. If he chooses the latter, he will have to risk his life once more, as he has a feeling that the boar shares roughly the same attack strength as the wolf. However, when he thinks of the loot it might drop upon its death, Takeshi decides to change his mind and draws out his sword. Standing up and sneaking quietly, he holds his breath as he creeps up towards the creature's back. He determines that if he is lucky, he may unleash an Sword Art that can deal heavy damage against its flesh. Slowly, his sword begins to glow green in color. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #17 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) As Takeshi quickly swings his sword forward, the blade almost makes contact when the boar suddenly turns its head around, instantly prompting his hand to stop advancing. Shocked at its quick awareness of its environments, Takeshi quickly jumps backwards and steer clear of its vicinity. It is too late to pretend that the attempted attack never happened, for the boar is already prepared to strike in return. It lets out a loud snort while rubbing its front hoof against the ground. Takeshi thinks that if he tries to evade the boar's charge, there is little chance of success due to its size and the fact that it can change directions while still aiming at its target like a knight with a lance. He expresses no regret in attempting to kill the boar, as his fighting spirit is back once more. However, his right leg is still recovering from the bite received from the wolf, so moving around will be a little more tedious and slow this time. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #18 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) The battle initiates with the boar charging madly towards Takeshi, bringing its tusks forward as one of them lunges against his breastplate. Meanwhile, he successfully lands a hit onto his skull, but the cut isn't deep enough to severe the brain. He swings his sword some more to make his cut deeper, but only after a few swings does the boar jumping away backwards. Takeshi proceeds to move around the boar as he hopes that it would miss its next attack, even at the slightest. He makes sure he never moves too quickly or too much, as he is afraid that the wound might heal at a slower pace. For a moment, the boar is confused by Takeshi's maneuvers, not sure on how to proceed through the fight. Regardless, it is still preparing to charge forwards and, much to his amusement, waits patiently until Takeshi stops moving in circles. Only after this then the boar launches its tusks towards him once more, letting out a squeal. He plunges his sword deep into the cut on the boar's head, its thick skull is stubborn to further open the wound. It moves its head away and hangs its head low while panting heavily, blood flowing and staining among its fur. Takeshi struggles to balance himself from falling, but his weakening right leg only causes him to kneel onto his left. Once again, he faces death, but this time he may not escape it as unlike the wolf, the boar will always attack until either itself or the threat has been eliminated. It is a non-stop attacker, and even the fatal injuries do not convince it to retreat. Win or die fighting, that is its own rule to follow for the rest of its life. Interestingly, Takeshi also follows the principle in his life, especially during his time as a gang leader. His gaze focuses towards the boar, who is already charging at a zig-zag pattern from a distance. He keeps pressuring himself to get up and fight for his dear life. Takeshi 0 Posted January 23, 2017 Author #20 Share Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) Charging in a zig zag pattern is a big mistake, for Takeshi can already tell which side the boar would be on prior to its attack. Risking himself to move aggressively at the cost of more pain at his right leg, he barely avoids the tusks that are clearly aiming for his head and pierces its eye, causing it to squeal louder. He repeats the stabbing for six more times until it collapses to the ground, dying from the killing blow. Immediately after it disappears from his sight, he kneels down and looks at the sky once more, this time with eyes wide open. He wants to yell for joy, and raise his sword in victory. However, he never get to express these feelings as he really doesn't feel happy of facing death twice. It is as if Death itself is mocking him into playing some sort of sick game that involves arranging himself and his first mobs into battle. It feels personally insulting for some reason. He looks down to see some alchemic ingredients visible on the ground, most likely dropped by the dead boar. He picks them up and, upon closer inspection, determines them to be herbs, and roots of some sort. Edited January 23, 2017 by Takeshi
