[PP-F4-NK] Fighting for Essence <<Essence Of Steel>>(Dominion and Domarus) [Complete]

Recommended Posts

It was getting late in the day, the sun almost covered by the wall of the town. Dominion was sitting outside in his little alleyway outlet, cleaning up his gear, when he heard some muttering nearby. Dominion was by no means stealthy, but he could hear decently. A group of people were talking about a skull found to have activated something and a mob appeared. From what Dominion could understand, the mob had something to do with an NPC quest, which was rather interesting. "Well, no time like the present" Dominion muttered to himself as he started to stand up. He heard one last thing before making himself noticeable to the men. Whatever this "Skull mob" was, it would be located on the fourth floor, somewhere in a cave. Dominion showed his presence and noticed that the people were shady looking men, probably building stealth classes. "Alright, this is my place, so please feel welcome at any time" Dominion said with a smile. before he got the chance to bow, the two guys ran off, leaving Dominion alone again. Dominion opened his menu and sent a PM to Domarus with the following statement, *Yo, Domarus. I just caught wind of a mob that is close to a field boss in toughness on the fourth floor. You up for some combat? Meet me somewhere in a town on the fourth floor if you are free in about 12 hours, just to make sure we have enough light. -Dom the Monk*

Domarus hacked at another mob, shattering it into crystals.  Keres yawned as she was getting bored of seeing Domarus hack at mobs that were helpless to fight back.  She never complained though.  She never would.  He was her master and her entertainment came from serving him as well as annoying, teasing or embarrassing others.  And right now there wasn't anyone.  She smiled as she recalled how red Sey's face had lit up.  Oh how fun that day was.  Unfortunately she hadn't been able to do much since then.  She sighed and leaned against the tree.  She knew Domarus was almost done and that they'd be heading home soon.  Until they heard the sound of a message popping up.  Domarus stopped and checked the message.  So Dominion wanted to do a quest with Domarus on the fourth floor eh?  Perfect actually.  He had been meaning to check in with Dominion and establish further trust and loyalty.  Aereth was close, and Domarus had recently found a new player who had the potential to become his dps general now that Chiana had disappeared, so he now had three out of four generals.  All he needed was someone to become his tank general...

"Alright Keres let's head back.  We have something to do in the morning."  Keres smiled and nodded, getting to her feet and moving along with Domarus.  After they got some sleep, they headed straight for the fourth floor and waited by the teleport pad.  Domarus in his dragon bone armor, and Keres with her flaming familiar keeping her warm.  All Rhozarth did was stretch his wings any time the cold tried to overcome his flames.  Domarus kept his eyes out for @Dominion.  A quest would very much help him progress through the levels.

Dominion had continued to polish up his gear after sending the private message, until his gear was clean and repaired. Dominion slept against the cold gray stone, his equipment in his inventory. When he awoke early in the morning, Dominion stood up and went to the Teleport pad. His blond hair was a mess, but his clothes were in decent shape. He appeared on the teleport pad on the fourth floor, where he was met by a cold breeze. Dominion equipped his items, Monkey King Armor, Monkey Spirits, and Monkey King Semblance before stepping onto the pad. He looked to his side as he appeared and immediately caught sight of Domarus's Dragon Bone Armor and Keres, with her fire serpent encircling her. Dominion smiled, almost laughing as he turned his body to meet up with Domarus. "Hey Domarus, I see you got the message." Dominion looked around the snowy cold environment. "Have you done this "Quest" before? I have gone onto the fourth floor only to go to Aereth's shop and maybe participate in a boss fight." Dominion shrugged, and then shook his head vigorously to keep the snow from accumulating there.

Domarus heard movement and saw Dominion approach.  Before Dominion noticed him, he saw that his healer general seemed to have only recently woken up.  That most likely meant his senses were dulled a little.  Dominion smiled and greeted Domarus and he smiled and nodded in turn.  Dominion 'said' he intended to be fully loyal, but anyone who says that off the bat was someone Domarus intended to make sure they were speaking truth.  Being a master of deception, he knew the consequences of being deceived and did not wish to pay the price.  Keres herself, bowed to Dominion.

"Morning Dominion.  As a matter of fact, Aereth and I intend to do this quest ourselves soon.  We have a bit of information.  It's a snow monster, which makes me believe it's defense will be low as well as it's health, but it could make up for that in damage for all we know.  Either way, if I get a hit on it, most likely I'll take it down before it can do much to me.  And seeing as how you're a healer, and how I have pretty good mitigation anyways, we should have no problem burning through this one.  I heard that a few quests turned up also.  Perhaps we could take those on together as well.  Something about dragon hunting I believe."  Experience.  That was what he was here for.  Experience and skill points.  The col he could gradually add up over time, but he needed to get his skills and levels strong, stronger than most others.  He needed to catch up to the higher up players.  And the best way to do that were quests.  Once he hit tier two he believed he could do RGQ's again.  They would definitely be helpful.

Dominion nodded his head in agreement.  "Yeah, I can agree to that. Although, I have heard nothing of the new quest, so until Aereth or yourself have gathered adequate information, I do not intend to have us walk mindlessly into a potential setup." Dominion was not smiling as he said the second statement, but something returned to his mind. "Also, have you heard any word from the Vanishing Dragon.", Dominion said this with a smile, mostly to remind Domarus of his request, but with a stunning flow of speech, matched the previous statement with the following. "Basically, are there others that you intend to bring on future quests? It always seems better with a full group than just a group of two." Dominion looked over at Keres when he mentioned this, realizing that he disrespectfully left her out. Dominion listened to what Domarus had to say in response but got suddenly fixed on the accumulating snow. Dominion began to walk forward, his shoes barely keeping out the snow as he trekked a few feet out. "Woah, this stuff is really cold. What is it?" Dominion asked as he knelt down and picked up a handful of snow. "Seems as though this stuff sticks together like mud, but it seems so powdery." Dominion could see some tracks that had begun to cover up, so Dominion lifted his head, following the tracks with his gaze. They seemed to go quite a distance out before his eyes couldn't trace them anymore. "If I had to guess where the cave would be located from mass track imprints on the ground and the path they take, I would say it is this direction.", But immediately following that statement, Dominion stated, "However, I am nowhere near as good as Aereth when it comes to tracking, so lets hope I am not messing this up." Dominion stood up again.

Domarus listened to Dominion speak and he couldn't help but notice the very strong irony.  Aereth, who was a scout; someone whose role is to gather intel and report, had taken it upon himself to tank the last time they were together, even though the plan was for Domarus to tank, all just so he could test out his new armor.  Meanwhile Dominion here, who was a healer which wasn't all that common, was requesting that they be extremely cautious.  He'd have to talk with Aereth sometime.  Outwardly he chuckled.

"Indeed.  I don't want you getting killed out there whatsoever.  And seeing as how I still don't know the real name of the vanishing dragon, nor Aereth, unfortunately I do not yet.  However I have not stopped looking.  This matter has intrigued me and the fact that I can't gather intel on him thus far is a bit infuriating.  Mark my words, one way or another I shall find and discover him.  When I do I'll inform you and introduce you two myself."  Then Dominion asked if Domarus planned to take anyone else with them on future quests.  Here he hesitated.  How far should he go as to the knowledge of his four general slots?  As well as how many are filled?  He chose to take the neutral route.  He grinned.

"I've been finding one or two people who might help us out.  The most recent one is rather low in level, however I believe she can train fast.  She has potential I'll give her that.  Then there's you, a healer, Aereth, a scout.  I'm more of a mix between dps and tank, though mostly tank.  So the three of us cover the most area I'd say.  If you have anyone you'd like to tag along just let me know."  Hidden...  He definitely wanted to help her get stronger.  Very much so in fact.  If she would be their dps general, then she'd need to get strong fast.  Seeing as how the floors were oh so close to tier three, he wanted her up there as soon as possible to deal maximum damage.  Domarus wanted to reach that point first of course, but he needed to assist his generals for them to assist him.

Dominion was glad to hear that Domarus was keeping his word. He could remember only that name, which really bothered him. He must have been a important person, but every time Dominion thought about it, he came up with nothing. Dominion was walking forward when Domarus made mention of others, but there was a slight hesitation in his voice, causing Dominion to turn slightly before Domarus grinned. Dominion literally didn't think anything of it until Domarus said that there was a low level girl planning to help out. Dominion was confused. "Might I help her out as well? I must become strong myself in order to assist you. Is she very talkative? Wh." Dominion stopped, however, pressing Domarus on the subject of the low level player. Instead, Dominion continued to listen to his words. For all Dominion knew, Aereth was a great Scout. He could believe this without even assisting him in combat. Dominion was walking forward now, keeping his attention out for unnecessary mobs. "I have met many players as I have progressed in the first several floors. Some of them have joined guilds with strong players. Will you ever make a guild that I may associate with?" Dominion glanced to the side as he came to notice a turn in the covered footprints.

Domarus heard Dominion's request to help the girl with her training, then began a long list of questions before he stopped abruptly, deciding to listen rather than talk.  Domarus chose to answer each of his questions as they in no way would hinder his work.  In fact he needed Dominion to understand the delicacy of the situation.

"While I appreciate the helpful thought of wishing to assist her in gaining strength in level and skill, she is an extremely shy, untrusting, and suspicious person.  While I believe she trusts me a little, she's still wary around me.  And no she's not talkative.  I haven't even seen her face as of yet.  She wears a cloak and hood at all times and her username is hidden, or so I'm lead to believe.  That's what she told me after all.  However she has potential.  I believe she's a blank slate and if lead in the right direction could be of great use to us.  All it will take is proper guidance.  However, if you're able to gain her trust enough to train with her, then by all means do so.  And if she asks about me then please do your best to help me earn her trust."  After he finished Dominion mentioned how many strong players he had met had joined guilds.  Domarus was wondering where Dominion was going with this when he said it.  Did he want to establish a guild...  Domarus had considered this for quite some time.  He thought about it as they walked.  Before he was able to even consider it, he needed to get all four generals, earn their trust and loyalty, and make sure they would be with him, and his goal for domination and power, to the very end.  After that, well.  Having a guild would definitely earn him followers faster.  It was possible...

"I'd say there's a decent chance at that, not good nor bad at the moment.  I do need to complete a few tasks before that can happen but perhaps in the future I may have a guild...  Yes I rather like that idea actually.  However in my current state I can't afford to have that sort of attention on me.  Gaining good reputation with the public is one thing, but a guild not only beckons the attention of everyone in Aincrad, it also acts as a challenge in itself.  And I'm in no state to challenge anyone just yet."

Dominion had never had trouble with shy people in the past, but he understood why it could be an issue. Dominion heard the name "Hidden" and kept it in the back of his mind. "Well, I may ask her if she is willing to adventure and train with me, but I will not press the matter if she chooses otherwise. I doubt people in the first floor who are shy want to talk to a very talkative monk" Dominion said this to Domarus. Then Domarus made mention of liking the idea of a guild, but not being in any position to implement it yet, or at least, that was how Dominion interpreted it. "Alright, that makes sense. I was just wondering since I have sworn loyalty to you, but I am never around you and Aereth much to help out." Dominion looked over and thought he saw the cave entrance, a black hole in the side of a snowy hill. "I think that is where the cave beast is. You should draw the creature out of the cave... unless you would prefer going into the cave and commencing combat there. Either way, do what you are most accustomed to do."

Dominion talked about how he doubted people like her would want to talk to a very talkative person like himself, and to be honest he might be right.  However there may be another side to her than met the eye.  Of course Domarus wouldn't see this 'other side' for a while.  He needed to shape her and before he did that he needed to get her to trust him enough.  He then heard Dominion talk about how he had sworn loyalty to him but he wasn't able to assist him or Aereth much.  Domarus looked at him.

"If we take on more quests, you could assist me that way.  I need to burn through the levels and that's been rather slow lately.  I need to get to tier two, I should already be there for crying out loud.  You can assist me in that way."  They reached a cave at that point and Dominion commented on how Domarus could either lead the monster out or fight inside the cave.  He grunted.

"Within or outside it's lair, it's dead either way."  He made his way into the cave wondering how serious Dominion truly was about his vow of loyalty.  It was a stroke of luck that Dominion appeared, met all the conditions of a general, and was even a healer above all things.  The most difficult build to collect.  In fact he had the harder to get classes, healer and scout.  However while he also had dps, he did need to find a willing tank as a general.  If Grave was a tank perhaps he could be useful.  However from what he had seen and heard, the player grave wasn't all that active.  Soon he saw the boss and decided to think about this later.  The snow creature roared at Domarus but he did nothing as he equipped his Hopebreaker set.  Battle ready he rushed at the beast but before he could hit the monster it struck him, hard enough to make him falter.  However he wasn't worried.  All this would be over soon.

Dominion heard Domarus mention that the monster would be dead either way. Dominion knew better to think this before a fist encounter, but he couldn't help but feel the same. "I more than agree with that" Dominion would have commented with something else, but Domarus quickly equipped his other set of armor and charged at the beast. The snowbeast was rather furry, giving Dominion the idea that it either had no armor or had some strange natural armor. Before he could do almost anything in terms of strategic planning, Domarus was running forward. Dominion didn't dare follow, except he could see the attack coming. Dominion knew he couldn't speak fast enough and decided to put a chance in his first aid. He smashed the hand wraps together, focusing on the activation of first aid. He shot forward with incredible speed, and moved behind Domarus, who was hit off balanced. When his hands made contact with the back of Domarus's breastplate, his hands glowed a golden hue. He braced most of the impact with his first aid and could see Domarus's health regenerate somewhat. Dominion let out a breath and retracted his hands as Domarus secured his footing. Dominion was by no means capable of doing much damage to the beast, so he would get practice at activating his First Aid.

  • 2 weeks later...

Domarus watched as his health increased even more and knew that Dominion was right behind him.  He nodded to the player and looked back up at the monster.  He charged forward as the monster lifted it's arms to strike him.  Domarus swung his weapon upward as both offense and defense but the monster's blow was stronger than expected.  He was locked in with the monster until it managed to thrust his weapon from his hands.  Domarus saw the creature swing it's arms down again, roaring as it did so.  When it hit something it grinned, until it felt something piercing it's flesh.  Had it hit something sharp when it flattened the man?  Then it noticed that the man hadn't died.  Although he was in a kneeling position, Domarus kept the massive hands from crushing him.  His health dropped but he wasn't concerned about that in the least.  Damage he could handle, especially with Dominion here.  All he needed really was two solid hits and he'd win.  He made a mental note to switch his weapon to accuracy rather than status when he reached tier two.  He slowly pushed upward until he was on his feet again.  When he was he shoved the beast's arms off, surprising the beast with his raw strength.  Domarus picked up his weapon, staring at the monster.  He might need to use the sand armor potion, although he was reluctant to use it.  He would not die to this boss.

Dominion took a small chance. He might be able to attack from above the Snow Beast, but it would need to be a flawless attack. Dominion began to slide around the beast as it followed Domarus, until the beast struck Domarus with a it's mass and knocked away his weapon. Dominion ran the last yards to go a complete circle around the beast and managed to catch the weapon, running behind Domarus and grabbing a hold of his shoulder. "Don't want to do combat without a weapon", Dominion said as the health bar went up again. Dominion handed the weapon back to Domarus and thought about the situation. "Considering you have not yet conjured up any hate at the moment, It might be a good idea for me to take the next attack. That is, if it can even hit me." Dominion knew that Domarus had the health and MIT of a good tank, but Dominion rarely got the chance to show off his own abilities in combat, besides against the boss Nerius.

Domarus watched as Dominion handed him his weapon back, which meant he was pretty strong.  The armored warrior nodded to him and turned back to the snow beast.  The creature was still rather shocked but was nowhere near giving up.  Domarus and the beast charged simultaneously and Domarus swung his weapon, barely missing the snow beast.  When it noticed the attempt it tried to hit Domarus again, but this time he was ready and blocked the attack head on.  The snow beast pushed harder, pushing Domarus across the snow an inch, but then Domarus forced his feet deep into the snow, touching the stone beneath, and began to push himself.  The snow beast was surprised that he was able to stop his backward movement, let alone push against the snow beast.  Domarus was very annoyed that he was missing over and over again.  This settled the matter for Domarus as he was now intent on replacing his weapon for one that had enhanced accuracy.  No doubt Dominion would get impatient at this point and there honestly would be no stopping him.  Domarus did not have the authority he needed yet, nor the strength.  It was not yet time...

Dominion thought about the situation as Domarus charged headlong again into the beast. Dominion had been in combat before and knew that strength was but one method to "win". Dominion had once wielded a giant doube edged great axe, which was a fine weapon. However, Dominion wouldn't need a large weapon to prove a point. Domarus was, as he could see, not the strongest person, but there was definitely no doubt that he could hold his own ground. Dominion knew from a previous battle that Domarus could arm wrestle enemies onto the ground, which made the current situation seem almost childish, especially to Dominion. Still, he would prove himself as a capable healer, and one that Domarus would rightly prize over the others in Aincrad. Dominion approached Domarus while he was still holding the beast's weight and placed a hand on his shoulder. His handwraps glowed a golden hue as the health bar moved to almost full. Dominion remained speechless as he studied the anatomy of the beast. He hoped that the beast might aim to strike him with a giant fuzzy arm, which he theorized would give Domarus the opportunity to use a sword art.

When Dominion revived his health even more, nearly full health, Domarus twisted the beast's arm so that it tripped.  As it tripped the monster swung it's claw at Domarus, scratching itself yet again against his gauntlets, roaring from the fall and thorns damage.  Domarus didn't budge or twitch upon the hit.  He really didn't feel it.  The pain dampener helped him out with that, but even without it he would find some way to resist it.  In fact he was planning to one day use the pain potion Mari had crafted for him on himself, and work on increasing his resilience to pain.  And seeing as how in SAO you only died if your health hit zero, the possibilities of torture were endless.  Which meant he had much training to do.  Honestly he wanted to find an alchemist who would be willing to assist Domarus.  He would provide the information he learned from watching Mari make the potions and thus her work would continue...  Under his supervision.  Domarus swung his huge weapon, releasing screw dimension and dealing just over half it's health.  That combined with the thorns damage he had dealt brought the creature's health down greatly.  One more hit would end it.  He wasn't sure whether Dominion's damage was great enough to finish it off or not, but either way this creature was as good as dead.

Dominion was standing behind Domarus, which gave him a slight disadvantage to sight. However, he could see Domarus's plated arm shift and the monster made a roar. Domarus's health bar dropped again, which was alright since he would just boost it back up. Dominion could see the giant beast's arm raise as he reached out to place his palm on the back of Domarus's breastplate. Dominion's first instinct was to physically move around the arm, but he never got the chance. The giant snow beast's arm came down on Domarus and the beast's health bar dropped significantly. He just shrugged as he finally placed his palm down and Domarus's health bar rose again. Dominion knew that, unless he were to crit, he would not be able to even put a dent in the health bar of the beast. He relied on his Bld and Par affects from his hand wraps when soloing, but never against something with so much health and such a great dmg output.

Domarus watched as the snow beast became wrathful and gave a massive punch to Domarus who fell back.  As he fell he cursed.  He cursed this monster for being the first to have done so.  After he hit the ground he immediately started to get back onto his feet, gripping his weapon very tightly.  Alright he thought, now I'm pissed.  Domarus made a full on charge at the boss which was surprised that he recovered that quickly.  Domarus roared as he lashed out at the monster, releasing screw dimension and destroying the last bit of health that was left, shattering the beast into thousands of crystals, it's cry of hate and pain echoing through the caves.  After the strike Domarus sheathed his huge ax with a sigh and turned to Dominion.
"Well then.  That's that then."  Domarus watched as he received the essence of steel item and stored it in his inventory.  With essence of steel he could make perfect items much more easily.  He may do this quest a few more times until his chances for crafting a perfect item were better.  This might take a while since he needed materials badly, but regardless he would make it there one day.
"So then my friend.  What shall we do next?  We could make a gathering attempt, fight a few mobs or go home.  Take your pick.  I'm just satisfied that I've cleared another quest."

Essence of steel, one material and 1,250 col received

Dominion watched from behind Domarus as the two seemed locked in combat, until suddenly a giant arm bashed Domarus into the snow. It was quite impressive, to be completely honest. Dominion had no doubt that Domarus could finish the battle after he stood back up, but Dominion couldn't help but give some credit for a well drawn out battle. Once Domarus landed the last strike, Domarus turned to face him. It was then that he realized that they had received the rewards from combat. Domarus had accepted the essence of steel, which Dominion thought was well earned. Domarus then spoke up, asking what would happen next. Dominion smiled. he couldn't think of anything specific that he needed to do at the given moment, but would call upon Domarus to quest whenever available. "Well, I would say I am ready to go back to sleep. As you can probably tell, I woke up really early and probably should get some more rest. It has been more than great doing another quest with you. Soon, I will be able to pull my weight in healing and make the difference." @Domarus

Domarus went ahead and opened his menu while Dominion talked, switching to his dragon bone armor and unequipping his weapon, and moved to send some of the loot Dominion's way, six hundred twenty five col, when the player essentially answered by saying "I want to go home now".  Domarus nodded.  Domarus only slept the required eight hours, training or scheming the rest of the time.  Other than that he had no need of sleep.  Exhaustion didn't come easily in this digital world.  Nor the desire to sleep, at least for Domarus.
"Very well.  I think I'll take the item to my shop and get a few drinks after grinding some monsters.  Perhaps we could do another quest soon?"  He shook his healer's hand and the two went their separate ways.  As he walked off Keres went beside him.  Domarus was rather silent she noted which meant he was most likely making plans.  She would never interrupt his thoughts so she did some of her own thinking.  She really didn't use her skill points in any way and she didn't really care either.  However perhaps she could get a profession, to help Domarus out.  She knew he was interested in the potions Mari made.  Perhaps she could become an Alchemist and make some?  It would indeed be difficult but she knew she could do it.  And then there was the option of becoming a cook and continue preforming her maid duties even better.  Regardless of what happened, she might as well pick something to keep herself preoccupied.  Domarus however was thinking of something else entirely.  He was thinking of how and when Aereth would go after the guild groups.  He knew it was impossible to do it alone, yet he also knew Aeret would try anyway.  And when he did Domarus would have the two other generals prepared and bring them when Aereth was weakest.  After that they'd decimate the groups and end them once and for all.  After that he'd share with the generals what they truly were and what their purpose was.  With that he'd have them keep an eye out for a tank general.  Once this general was found, phase two would begin.
