Dominion 0 Posted February 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2017 (edited) Dominion had just exited Domarus's shop for the second or third time, depending on how you looked at it. He equipped the Monkey Ring, it appeared on his finger fitting perfectly. "Now to find that majestic monkey... Dominion said as he began to walk away from the shop. He had no reason to go back to the alleyway spot for at least another day, so he could spend all of the current day and possibly some of the next on finding that monkey. Dominion walked forward, his eyes wandering from side to side. Dominion noticed that the city was quieter today, for some reason or another. It wasn't out of his mind, the possibility that most of the starting players had begun to lose their fear and venture into the world, but he wouldn't think too much on this topic. He refocused his eyes to take a look out at the grasslands through the massive gate, which lead on a windy path out toward the far and distant forest. Dominion 0 Posted February 6, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted February 6, 2017 The grasslands were a dark natural green, with brown specs which were likely boars grazing. They were, for the most part, not aggressive creatures. However, you could never truly tell when one may turn to attack you, especially if you don't know that you crossed it's boundaries. The two main areas that players would commence combat near was both a tree and a patch of dried earth with little grass on top of it. The tree was the must common spot, but today, unlike most days, it was barren. Dominion couldn't make out much past that point, so he would need to approach the tree to get a better look. Dominion took another step forward, his feet taking his body past the invisible boundary of the city and into the territory of the boars. He kept his head held high as he walked forward, focusing on the dim dirt path that zig-zags in front of him.
Dominion 0 Posted February 6, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Following the path was easy, as his eyes would only trail away at brief times to scan the landscape. There were no mobs spawning near the path that lead to the forest lining. Dominion remembered that he would need to be in search of a purple vine, which happened to be the same spot that he was attacked by the monkey. I don't wish for that incident to happen again. I still have those bananas, so if I think this out wisely, it could go ok. Dominion was placing one foot in front of the other at a slower rate while he thought. He did not want to move too quickly because his mind was concentrated on something else. He stepped over a medium sized rock as he continued, as if remembering the path in his memory. Now, he would need to search for a Monkey that, for all he knew, was on another level than himself. Dominion kept walking as he thought about this.
Dominion 0 Posted February 6, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted February 6, 2017 Some time went by, as he thought and kept placing one foot in front of the other. Dominion looked up and realized that he had made it to the forest. He was pretty startled by this, as he remembered the trek to be longer. Dominion turned around and looked back at the city gates and walls from far off. Only a bit past the tree lining was visible to his eyes, especially since Dominion was basically looking at lit up town. The sun was glaring above the tree line, which meant that he was covered by shade, but the city was like the city in the desert. Almost impossible to see from the shine of metal, wood, and stone from the sun's rays. Dominion half-heartedly smiled, great memories residing from that city. Soon, almost immediately, he would need to chose a different floor to stay on. He was, after all, a nomadic monk. He would keep this as he identification, especially since nobody else could claim that but himself.
Dominion 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted February 7, 2017 Turning back around to face the dark ominous forest, Dominion made sure to have all his gear equipped. He would be ready for whatever would be to come, except maybe something that would be plausible in the game... That Dominion probably wouldn't be ready for. So Dominion lifted his arms to move apart the branches of tightly compact bushes. Several feet past the thick underbrush, the ground became quickly barren, but really dark. The canopy of tree branches and leaves from higher layers of the forest blocked out any possible light from reaching the bottom. The only things that grew at the bottom layer of the forest was moss and vines, which seemed to go all the way up the trunk of most trees. Dominion finally got past the thick underbrush and immediately began walking forward. He needed to keep his eye out for the shack, the one with the old NPC woman.
Dominion 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Dominion walked forward, the soft sounds of little critters around him beginning to grow in sound. Dominion had remembered something like this while he was in china. On one of his trips to the surrounding towns, he got lost and was stuck in a similar forest. However, that forest was much, much more scary. The legends about that forest were too gruesome and cruel to explain well with words. He was glad that this forest had a peaceful and almost friendly environment. He stepped on a twig and something came out of the forest. It was a Nepent. Dominion knew that he could beat it. He knew this, in part, because the last one he defeated was really strong and with the help of Row, he was able to finish it off without much injury. Dominion turned around to face the Nepent and quickly tried to dodge the vine attack directed toward him. Dominion 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Dominion dodged the Nepent's vine with great ease. He moved forward and it simply passed above his head. He then turned to the side, but was rendered blind. That area was completely black, making it near impossible to see anything but a basic outline of the Nepent. Dominion had to hold in a laugh. This little fellow is really the master of the shadows! looks like I will just have to play guess and check. Dominion struck his hand wrapped arm into the shadows and recoiled it when there was no contact. Dominion saw a line shape exiting the shadows and quickly knocked it out from the air and into the ground. The health bar appeared in the shadows, plenty visible for Dominion to get a correct reading. It was only a small portion closer to death. Dominion 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Dominion moved a step back, hoping that the Nepent would need to extend its body out of the shadows to keep in reach. That was only a guess, since he had never encountered the fundamentals of plant movement in the real world, since it wasn't that much of a threat then. Dominion could see the outline of another vine coming toward him from within the cover of the shadows. Dominion waited, since he knew that he would be able to do the most force if he was most prepared. However, the vine came faster than he expected, and just barely was able to bat the vine into the ground. Wow, that was really close. Reminder to self, don't wait until the last second if you can help it, Dom told himself. He looked forward into the shadows again, seeing that his bat down was just as successful as the previous one. Dominion 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Dominion smiled when he saw that he was actually making progress. A successful hit from his Spirit Monkeys would do quite the amount of damage, definitely needed to a solo healing monk. Dominion walked forward, crossing deeper into the shaded part of the forest. He had the idea that the mob would come out of the shadow if he were to just walk away from combat. Thus, the Nepent began to exit the protection of the shade and enter the dim light. Dominion began to make out the great pile of vines which seemed to entangle it, many that were wrapped around what Dominion could only guess was the main body. Dominion would have charged at the plant, but he felt almost sorry for the thing. He would give it a chance to run away, or choose to keep the fight going. Either way, Dominion didn't mind. He had all day. ID# 76822 | BD:5 (miss) | MD:5 (-3) (miss) Dominion: 360 HP, 36 EN, 2 DMG, 3 MIT, 3 EVA, 3 LD, 3 CD. Dominion 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Dominion noticed that the Nepent was moving a vine around its body, but Dominion didn't now which way it was turning. He wouldn't have cared, had he not the wisdom to realize that whatever it was doing was how it made it's attacks. Dominion could try to read it's attack movements and possibly get the upper hand in the battle. Thus, Dominion moved to the side, almost behind a tree and watched as hard as he possibly could. The dim light made this action difficult. Dominion was far back as he saw the vine launch from the main body thing and strike out against the tree. It was clearly aimed at Dominion, but Dom was able to get back behind the tree in time. He didn't have the time to react in any other way though, which was a bummer. He had managed to get out the way of the attack. He may have had the chance to make an attack himself, had that strike not happened so quickly. Dominion 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Dominion shifted his entire body to be completely hidden behind the tree nearest to himself. The vine struck the tree, or at least that was what Dominion presumed. The loud noise had to have come from somewhere nearby. Dominion moved his head to quickly take a look at the vine as it seemed to separate from the main body. Interesting... Dominion thought as he followed the length of the vine to the dim outline of the Nepent. Dominion thought he would be able to breach the gap between when the Nepent was readying the next vine and having released the previous one to get a decent strike on the Nepent. Dominion ran out from the tree, but a vine was there to greet him. Dominion ducked down and rolled, hoping that he wouldn't snag on a rock or something as he moved. He wouldn't get a chance to strike the Nepent with the current turn of events happening at the same time. Dominion 0 Posted February 7, 2017 Author #12 Share Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) Dominion continued to run forward, his hands and feet unhindered by natural objects. There was one object that should have caught him by surprise as it was usually an item dropped from players, which seemed was just not ever picked up. One of these was a small piece of paper with a symbol and name on it. Dominion stashed it in his inventory, forgetting about it for the moment. He just had a decent distance to go in order to get in reach of the Nepent itself. Dominion was satisfied with the idea of just attacking vines that were launched at him. Dominion found he would need to get over to one side. A vine, almost as thick as a large tree branch, was heading directly at him. He collapsed his legs to lower his upper body. The vine passed a couple of inches above his torso, which was truly a close attack. Dominion fell off balance and planted himself on the ground. He would stay there a second to make sure he was ok. Only the dirt from the ground had managed to hit him, so Dominion would be alright. ID# 76825 | BD:5 (miss) | MD:5 (-3) (miss) Dominion: 360 HP, 36 EN, 2 DMG, 3 MIT, 3 EVA, 3 LD, 3 CD. Dominion 0 Posted February 9, 2017 Author #13 Share Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) Dominion stood up again, his hands to either side of his body clenched into very tense fists. He kneeled down as a vine shot out above him, seeming to come out from the absence of light. Dominion grabbed the vine and, pulling his entire body weight up, struck the vine again with his hand. It slit and he could see from the distance that the health bar of the Nepent had dropped. However, it wasn't by much. Dominion would really have to work if he planned to do much more to the Nepent, especially at such a great distance away. However, in a certain sense, the Mob would have a harder time hitting someone as agile as Dominion, so he could move around in search of the Familiar, despite being currently busy. Dominion got onto his legs and began to walk. He would walk a good several feet forward before another vine would miss by a large margin. Dominion 0 Posted February 9, 2017 Author #14 Share Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) Dominion could see the vine that appeared to wrap around a tree and suddenly tighten in a knotted mess as it came around. Dominion extended his open palm, knowing that a tree blocked his view from the Nepent and vice versa. He struck the vine with his open palm and could see the health bar drop in the distance behind him. Dominion grinned when he saw this and decided to use this taut vine to gain more altitude. As he gripped the vine and pulled his body weight over the vine, another vine came about two feet above it. Dominion lowered his torso to get as much momentum as possible, giving him the ability to climb up and sit on the vine. This happened very quickly, giving Dom the chance to reach up and climb even further up the vine ladder being made. Soon, he would have the best sight almost like that of a bird, assuming that the vines would keep coming in these increments. Dominion kept his eyes out for the Nepent, on the off chance that it was coming for him. ID# 76965 | BD:6 (hit) | MD:2 (-3) (Miss) Dominion: 360 HP, 36 EN, 2 DMG, 3 MIT, 3 EVA, 3 LD, 3 CD. Dominion 0 Posted February 9, 2017 Author #15 Share Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) Dominion finally stood on the top vine, which was only approximately 5 ft. off the ground. Dominion knew better than to trust this type of height for finding his type of familiar. Thus Dominion got back down to the ground. As he prepared to jump back to the ground, a vine from the corner of his eye, as it made an appearance. Dominion was able to hold himself from jumping until after the vine had looped around another tree, just a couple feet in front of Dominion. Dominion jumped from where he once stood atop the vines and grasped a hold of the vine in front of him. He spun his body 360 degrees and landed in the dirt, his white shirt already beginning to get dirty again. Oh no, that's not good. I don't want to go through the burden of trying to wash out my pure white shirt again... Dominion just smiled as he remembered a lake nearby. Maybe I can lead the Nepent over to the sound of the creek over there. ID# 76966 | BD:3 (miss) | LD:3 (fail to find) | MD:6 (-3) (Miss) Dominion: 360 HP, 36 EN, 2 DMG, 3 MIT, 3 EVA, 3 LD, 3 CD. Dominion 0 Posted February 13, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted February 13, 2017 (edited) Dominion was thinking about leading the Nepent over to the sound of the rushing water, but he decided against it as he suddenly became pressured. Another vine was approaching at an incredible speed, which was distracting Dominion from his thoughts. He quickly moved his right arm to smash the vine down into the ground. It crashed into the moist dirt and the health bar from a shorter distance displayed a Critical Success. Dominion looked in surprise at what he had just done. He had managed to critically success without actually trying. Dominion wasn't about to complain about this, and decided he would begin walking... except he had no exact location to go to. He was, after all, mostly relying on his sense of hearing to find where the water was lapping onto the land. It sounded off in the distance, but Dominion was never an actual tracker, so he would have no idea. Dominion 0 Posted February 13, 2017 Author #17 Share Posted February 13, 2017 (edited) Dominion leaned close to a tree, placing his ear against it and tried to concentrate. There was a slight rumbling sound that resonated within the digital screen, but nothing more. There was no easy way to tell which way to go, so Dominion just moved like normal. He took one step after the other, as he walked. A vine from behind him missed by a rather large margin, which Dominion proceeded to ignore. It was most certainly not the time to stop and focus on something so pointless when he was in search of a familiar. Thus, Dominion looked up to see how dark the canopy above was. It was, for all he could see, completely closed off, with a few glowing rays breaking through every several feet. Dominion also noticed, as he was walking, one sink hole that was placed rather strangely by the coders of this game. Dominion 0 Posted February 16, 2017 Author #18 Share Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) Dominion was still walking when he heard a noise from above. It was a strange looking bird, specifically an owl. Dominion thought about the real world and the birds he had seen. None that he could recall looked anything like the bird he was looking at. It had a mighty wingspan and large eyes. It was moving out of a tree, seeming to search for prey. However, while Dominion had focused his attention on the mysterious bird, be became more aware of the creatures around him. A massive vine drooped from a nearby tree, and was coming closer to the ground as a small amount of time passed. Soon, that vine would reach the ground, except Dominion did notice. He moved over to it and chopped it directly in half, as it was parallel to his own body. Part fell onto the ground, but the rest suddenly was slung up into the air. Dominion 0 Posted February 16, 2017 Author #19 Share Posted February 16, 2017 Dominion watched as half of the vine dropped onto the ground at his feet and the other half shot up to the canopy surface. Dominion turned his head around to see if he could spot the health bar of the Nepent. As he caught sight of the Nepent's health bar, he quickly noticed that it was at the end of it's digital life. The bar moved smoothly into the red and then to absolutely nothing. A small shower of pixels was what Dominion thought as the HP bar of the Nepent became non-existent. Dominion wanted to talk to someone, but nobody had come with him the past two adventures out into the forest. His friends were busy, Row was probably out searching for treasure, and Domarus was out leveling up. He, Dominion, needed to level up too, but chose to do so at his pace. It would make the adventure to get there even more fun. Dominion: 360 HP, 36 EN, 2 DMG, 3 MIT, 3 EVA, 3 LD, 3 CD. Dominion 0 Posted February 16, 2017 Author #20 Share Posted February 16, 2017 (edited) Dominion was just thinking to himself about his friends and Domarus and Row. He would take slower steps as he thought, as if pacing a room or hallway. He hadn't seen Wolfie in a very, very long time. Dominion wondered if the dude was ok. He didn't think that the guy just stopped caring and eliminated himself. That guy seemed to have the skills and knowledge to be able to survive, even when depression got to him. Dominion needed to sit down when he began to think about Domarus. He was a strong, respectful leader. However, Domarus made it pretty clear that he had something about his being that was different. Dominion didn't wish to challenge Domarus in raw strength, due to his clear lack of it and his proven history. Domarus was a skilled man, who seemed charismatic enough to lead a guild, which Dominion was debating on joining. However, they needed something to make the group more complete.
