Morgenstern 1 Posted March 21, 2017 #121 Share Posted March 21, 2017 (1500th post!) CAPTAINS ACTION: ATTACK! Fire Bear Ram Activated! 250+(105*2)210=460 DMG dealt! +3 Hate +30 HP The blond watched as Aereth completely left the area, and made it safely back to shore. Domarus still appeared to be in the range of the turtle, so Jonathan would just have to distract it. He stepped up to the wheel and began to turn the boat. If he was not fighting a massive turtle, this would have been great. "Aha! I have become the captain of this ship now! SOL! Prepare the sails or whatever! We are charging in, full speed!" His phoenix familiar encircled the flags and puffed smoke after two loops. The blond made some adjustments, and his ship began to lurch forward, gaining speed. "Readying the ram!" The Bluebird was at full speed now. He held on tightly to the wheel as his ship slammed into the side of the turtle, dealing a fine amount of damage. The man laughed and began to turn. They would be pulling out here again shortly to charge up again. Staying would just cause for unneeded damage to his fine vessel. Domarus 0 Posted March 21, 2017 #122 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Domarus watched as more players escaped save for three risky fools: Shield Morgenstern and the blonde player. He remembered her from the valentines event. The blonde woman dressed in a suit rather than a dress. She was certainly a cocky one. He watched as Morgenstern prepared and charged the ship at the boss a second time. He noticed a red bird in the sky, circling the flags. He wasn't certain which player the familiar was associated with, but he was able to narrow it down to the three still active. Rhozarth hovered over the water, it's eyes staring at the phoenix. The creature honestly didn't look very strong to Rhozarth and thus it didn't care that much. Domarus saw that Aereth had successfully escaped, sparing Evander's life as well. This meant that Domarus was the last one to escape besides the three players who were daring to take the extreme risk of remain and fight the monster. He kept swimming until he reached the shore. When he did he willed his armor to heat up even more, evaporating the water off of his armor and skin. Afterwards he began making his way straight to the teleporter. If there was a tree in the way he tore it down with his ax, watching his health slowly climbing back up till it was finally full health. Next time he'd be ready. Shield 0 Posted March 21, 2017 #124 Share Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) The strange calm in the wake of the fleeing combatants unnerved Shield. As he continued to fiddle with the helm, a dialog box appeared before him. "Yes!" [Switching Captains: Zandra -> Shield] [Progress: 5%] "No!" He slammed his head against the rim of the helm before leaning an elbow against one of the many handles and slumping his weight against it. Just then, he heard something over the churning water and the deep rumbling of the turtle who was still in very close proximity to the ship. It was human, whatever it was, and as a familiar blonde head emerged over the edge of the deck, Shield felt his jaw instinctively clench. He straightened up, addressing the new arrival, his usually impassive face now filled with lines of focus and frustration belying the gravity of their current situation. Taking a deep breath, he addressed the new arrival. "Under any other circumstances, there would be a much more thorough interview process before taking on new players," he said, still having to raise his voice over the wash of the sea. "For now, though, battle stations! Let's see how much we can do to the rotten thing before we need to back up and take another run at it!" Ariel - The Crowned Lion 0 Posted March 21, 2017 #125 Share Posted March 21, 2017 "Says the one that snatched my friend's ship, so you're planning on pushing forward the attack while everyone else is retreating. I don't know if you're foolish or brave. Not that I mind either of those." muttered the blonde with mischievous smile. She eyed the new captain, then looked around and raised her arms to the side while showing a warped expression with a loop side smile. She had noticed that the man was somehow evasive of her, at least compared with his partner. Maybe the incompatibility of their chosen paths made them weary of each other. But keeping him on his toes would be beneficial for them both in this situation so she decided to put up a little tease: "Seems like there's only you and me here" she then began to tap with the sharp bottom of her obsidian weapon of choice on the deck for a bit of extra dramatic effect and continued: "So you better not sink her or I'll be very mad..." She turned on her heel and let out a cute humming while bobbing her head to the sides. She started walking towards the edge of the vessel where the pristine white shell was still within reach. The last attack managed to damage her too so the blonde would return the favor in kind. Tightening the grip and assuming a assault stance, she gritted her teeth as she perform the required pre-move for the most powerful sword art in her repertoire and unleashed the dark gleaming weapon against the turtle. Shield 0 Posted March 21, 2017 #126 Share Posted March 21, 2017 (edited) As the progress percentage of the captain transition crawled along moment by moment, Shield turned towards Ariel in response to her words. He knew that her challenge was likely just to get a rise out of him, but he didn't need there to be any confusion in the air about the state of things. "Yes, I took over the ship," he said with a cold chill to his tone that he had rarely used in any game, let alone SAO. "Zandra had to flee for her life and the ship would have been destroyed by the beast if it had been left alone. If I can both outlast the boss and save the ship, then I will do so, but in the mean time, quibbling over whose ship it is when it had been left for 'dead' is moot." Over his shoulder, he heard a chime which drew his gaze. The percentage had disappeared from the ship's HUD, and his own name stood uncontested in the captain's position. "Now grab onto something! We're backing up to get a fresh run at the thing," he said, finishing his lecture with a throw of the helm's handle. The wheel spun and the powerful vessel creaked to life under their feet. With a lurch, everything on board slid across the deck, colliding with masts and railings, and even the sidewall of the ship itself. Biceps Archelon 2 Posted March 22, 2017 #127 Share Posted March 22, 2017 Despite gracing them with a reprieve to run, the ants decided to stand against the kind once again. Only two ant ships remained and most likely taking their breather as a sign of mellowing decided to both attack. This made the kings think that the fools on board the ship were still thinking that they had a chance against the mighty rules of these watery territories. It prepared itself to retaliate and engaged both of them, one after another, first starting with the most resilient of them... the Sea dragon ant its 2 man crew then redirecting its attention towards the Bluebird and its one man show. While one head rammed the hulls of each ship, the other swapped through their decks and damaged the ones that still dared to remain in its domain. Maybe this will teach them to flee before the king looses its patience for good and decides to discard its lethargic state, getting serious against the remaining vermin. < <Biceps Archelon>> - HP: 5,500 - Mitigation: 85 - Accuracy: 100% - Evasion: -5 Abilities: Slow response: Due to the fact that the players launch a surprise attack on it, the event boss won't attack back the first full rotation. Ships can attack it one after another. Shell 'shedding': After the first turn, if the event boss if left with less than 35% it's HP after the first full rotation, it regenerates its HP to 100% at the beginning of the second rotation. [one use only] Stun/Paralyze/Freeze Immunity. <To be discovered> Charge: At the beginning of every full rotation, the boss directs its heads and charges towards the ship that has the most amount of collective hate, dealing 650 raw damage to the ship and 225 raw damage to its crew members. For multiple instances of equal hate, it will hit the last ship that attacked it.(Single Target) B2te: On a CD of 1-6 one of the turtle's two heads attacks for 575 raw damage, the first two ships with the most collective hate, that used the 'Attack' action in their last turn [does not hit ships that used the 'Retreat' action in their last turn]. The other head deals 220 raw damage to all their crew members. For multiple instances of equal hate, it will hit the last two ship that attacked it. (AoE I) Watery Smack: On a CD of 7-12 the turtle uses its side fins and hits for 500 raw damage, all the ships [does not hit ships that used the 'Retreat' action twice consecutively in their last turns]. All crew members will receive 200 raw damage. (AoE II) Ship buff/debuffs: Close Quarters Combat: Players won't auto-miss on a natural BD of 1. Players cannot use their <Charge> sword skill but can still use its mod. First departure: Ships start outside battle range, so captains must use 'Attack' as their first action to participate in the battle. Captain's Actions:(Captains can't attack directly but can use items on their respective crew members) Hide contents Attack: A 'Attack' action brings the ship into fighting range using a charge attack. Captains with ships that have the 'Extra Feature' enabled, charge their vessel towards mob; hitting it with the 'Fire Bear Ram' attached to their ship's underwater bow; this deals (250 + Active Crew nr.*105), to its submerged abdomen. Ships without the 'Extra Feature' still charge but it will only deal (Active Crew nr.*105) normal damage by ramming the bow into its body. This action has a 2 post Cooldown.(Attack-Post1-Post2-Attack-etc.) and generates 3 Hate. Retreat: By using this action, Captains can pull their ship out of the immediate vicinity of the Event Boss. This renders the rest of the crew unable to attack the mob and therefore can be skipped post-wise or use the opportunity to heal themselves. The vessel can still be targeted by AoE II abilities. A captain must 'Retreat' twice in a row, in order to be partially immune to its attacks. Using 'Retreat' three times consecutively removes the ship and all its crew members from the thread/event. If a Captain uses the 'Retreat' action after an 'Attack', the Cooldown resets and 'Attack' can be used in the following post. (Attack-Retreat-Attack-etc.) Stand-by: This action can permit a ship to remain close to the event boss after an 'Attack' action, permitting the rest of the crew to continue attacking the boss; permits a vessel to maintain their position after a 'Retreat' action, either within a AoE II attack's range or out of it. Notes: Players won't gain individual hate but add through their actions (attack/critical hit/mods/<Howl> etc.) to the ship's collective hate. If a Captain chooses to use the 'Retreat' action, that ship's whole crew is skipped battle stats-wise but the crew members can still post once before their turn in battle, in no particular order; example: to express their agreement or disagreement with their captain's decission (IC wise), use/trade items, etc. Once the battle has started, players can use/trade items only on/with their own crew members. Only Banners and crystals can be used on other crews. A ship's HP cannot be replenished, when its HP gauge goes lower or equal then zero, it renders the ship inmoble. Its crew receives full damage (that would be dealt normally to the ship) on the boss' next turns. Its members can either wait until the fight is over (on the ship, vulnerable to attacks) or jump into the water(in one post) and leave the thread by swimming to the shore(in the next one); Post order doesn't apply to members in immovable ships but they can't double post. A crew member can leave its ship by jumping in the water(in one post) and swimming ashore or towards another ship (in the next one). The respective ship's captain has to agree for the player to resume battle as part of his crew. (This can be done through an out of battle order post.) Morgenstern 1 Posted March 23, 2017 #128 Share Posted March 23, 2017 (Are we even gonna get anything for continuing XD?) The blond smiled as he turned from pointing directly at the turtle. Shield and Ariel on their boat were turning away, preparing to hit the turtle again. Whereas it was all fun, he doubted they and their ships would last long enough for that.He had alf mind to take the bluebird away form the battle, and make it the S.S Celestial Ascendants.... Pr the Jonathan is awesome boat! He began to sail away from the creature, sailing away fast enough to hopefully not be hit form the creature. As his boat circled around, he heard the groans from the turtle. Something was wrong now. He looked at Shield and Ariel. "Is there really any reason to continue? The only thing we are accomplishing are possibly destroying our ships! If you want to turn around, I will follow you out!" He would not leave as quickly if they were not going to leave. It just... was not him. He was the strongest tank in the entire event. He turned his ship, ready to charge again. In a bit though. Shield 0 Posted March 23, 2017 #130 Share Posted March 23, 2017 In the aftermath of the attack, Shield checked the ship's stats, along with his own. Both seemed to be holding pretty well, but he also knew there was new information that had yet to be discovered about the foe. He also knew that with Ariel's thirst for combat, taking a moment to replenish his health would hardly spark any animosity from her. She was in her element, after all. If he healed up a little now, she would likely be happiest. He ran the numbers again, trying his best to estimate outcomes. No matter how he cut it, the ship was probably going to do more damage, and there was no telling how long the ships would be around. he swore under his breath and continued to navigate the Sea Dragon away from the continent of an adversary. I'm going to get a moment to heal up while I'm waiting on the cool down after my next attack. I'll be fine until then. Ariel is just going to have to deal with waiting to swing again. With no small amount of creaking, the ship departed from the melee, pulling back a safe distance to prepare for another ramming attack. Ariel - The Crowned Lion 0 Posted March 24, 2017 #131 Share Posted March 24, 2017 With a sigh the blonde watched as the other ship then the one she was on, drift away from main target... Internally conflicted by her captain's decission to pull back for another ramming session against their overgrown enemy. Seeing Shield pull out a potion and try heal some of slightly drained HP bar so she decided to amuse him by mimicking his move... with a little extra. Already spying with the corner of her eye, the effects of her armor being applied, she relaxed her stance and rested the dull end of her obsidian weapon against the deck. With her free hand she navigated through her battle ready inventory and after tossing one more gaze towards the massive creature, she materialized another banner. This time it was not a weapon but a consumable item, she reached with her free hand into her skirt pocket and retrieved a small crystal. Activating it, this time only her own HP bar got replenished. "I hope you know what you're doing!" muttered the blonde as all her preparations finished, her warrior spirit itching for another go against the monster that scared off most of the participants. She had a small smile on her expression as she grabbed one of the mast ropes, holding tight against it and her foot resting against the rail, awaiting for the next planned collision. Biceps Archelon 2 Posted March 24, 2017 #132 Share Posted March 24, 2017 The king watched once again triumphal as the two remaining floating manned pieces of wood pulled back and put began distancing from them. But before it would leave them alone the two heads remembered that they had seen this move before, the assailants would pull back pretending to flee then launch another attack . While the attacks weren't devastating themselves, they we're still unnecessary existences that annoyed the king. Their retaliation was swift it released a combination of its 2 different toned howls, one high pitched that assaulted the players' senses while the second one was a low grave tone that made the waters and the ships vibrate violently. This phonic attack would scare them for sure, or at least that's what the king thought. Nonetheless, it would prepare for another attack... Like many times before, it would move its side fins to spin and attract the ships then it would damage their hulls and crew members before sending them in random directions thanks to the rotational force of its shell. < <Biceps Archelon>> - HP: 5,500 - Mitigation: 85 - Accuracy: 100% - Evasion: -5 Abilities: Slow response: Due to the fact that the players launch a surprise attack on it, the event boss won't attack back the first full rotation. Shield 0 Posted March 24, 2017 #133 Share Posted March 24, 2017 Without a second thought, Shield disengaged from the controls. He had neither the items nor the inclination to continue with a fight that could do in one round what Cerberus had failed to do in two critical strikes. Taking a step on the railing, he dove from the edge, plunging into the tumultuous waters and pounding his hands against the surface of the sea in rhythmic strokes. It didn't take a statistician to know that the numbers were stacked against them, and as much as he thought that he could take the punishment before, he was no longer illusioned as to the size of things now. Hopefully the information we learned here will give us what we need to fight and win another day, but that isn't today. He felt cowardly fleeing, but a death game is a death game, and he was in no position to play this round of it. [Withdrawing 1/2]
Morgenstern 1 Posted March 25, 2017 #134 Share Posted March 25, 2017 +66 HP Jonathan watched as the turtle began to throw a fit, making a noise that churned the waters and made their ships creak. Jonathan slammed into the wheel as his ship lurched forward. The blond groaned and noticed the creaking of his new ship. He sighed and looked over for reassurance form the Sea Dragon. The captain of it was diving off the ship, leaving he and Ariel the only ones on the ships. He used his howl skill to boost his voice to be heard by Ariel. "HEY! STAY IF YOU WANT! I SEEN NO REASON TO STAY AND LOSE THIS SHIP!" He turned the ship around and coast away. Shield somehow was already halfway to shore. His ship could take another hit or so, but it was useless to stay. "SEE YA TURTLE DUDE!" His ship might be able to get out before being udderly destroyed. He hoped he could get it out, just for Aereth. It was his ship now though. Well, The Celestial Ascendants. Shield 0 Posted March 25, 2017 #135 Share Posted March 25, 2017 (edited) With all of his might, Shield continued to pull himself through the water, crawling away from the shrinking ship behind him and the stalwart foe that had bested them. Held out as long as I could. And it looks like we've discovered all of its moves, but knowing Kayaba he will muck with the programming or have the properties change between attempts. Either way, we have a better idea at least of what caliber foe they were up against. Glancing behind him over his shoulder, he saw Jonathan making his way towards shore as well, though he seemed to have the patience to do so aboard their ship. Looks like everyone should make it out alive. That's good. Another day, then. Pulling himself out of the water onto land, he took one last look at the turtle with its now impregnable defenses before turning and making his way towards the floor exit. Ariel - The Crowned Lion 0 Posted March 25, 2017 #137 Share Posted March 25, 2017 Good thing that she was holding into something already or else the boss' combo attack would've knocked her off board into the tumultuous waters below. She didn't expect the phonic attack that seemed to be aimed towards her very core. While pain was not present, she could feel her head getting dizzy and ready to lose her balance. Letting go of the weapon in hand and letting it roll a couple of times before vanishing back into her inventory, she covered her ears in a attempt to suppress the uproarious assault. Casting a glance to the side, she noted that her brave familiar, was also in a similar position... slumped on the floor with her front paws pressing tightly against her ears while her face went against the deck. Being the only ones there Ariel permitted herself to let out a sigh followed by a expression of empathy towards her familiar. As the attacks finished, she looked towards the other ship and heard Morgenstern's words. A quick peek at her health bar revealed that half of it was already expended, instead of being concerned the blonde was actually amused by the fact that this was the lowest value she'd seen in a while. "Okay then..." she muttered to no, one in particular then motioned Kimba to come by her side. SHe then grabbed a hold of the helm and waited for the captain recognition process to end. In a minute or so after the attack, she was officially in charge of the viking ship "The Dragon of the Sea". Keeping one hand on the wheel, she materialized her weapon and waved the flag attached below the spearhead, hoping that @Morgenstern would get the message. Then she pointed it not towards the giant turtle, as much as the thought of fighting against it alone intrigued her, but against the distant shores where the rest of the raid party went. The wind seemed to pick up as the strongest vessel in the fleet began retreating once again. Combat rotation: (Each crew has 72h/3 days, to reply before being skipped. Biceps Archelon 2 Posted March 25, 2017 #138 Share Posted March 25, 2017 Seeing that they managed to scare the attackers the king let out satisfied sound that came out in a low rumble. Finally, it could go back to ruling over the water domains without any pretenders to its royal right. The event mob would slowly rock its massive body from right to left as to find a comfortable position in which to continue its slumber. It has expended a large amount of energy through its 'shedding' and it needed to rest for some time. While getting ready to sleep, it continue peer towards towards the stern of the vessels. They seemed to be running away but the king still remained restless until they were out of its sight. They knew others will eventually come and challenge their place to rule over the lake but the lake king would like to continue its feast upon the underwater life and rest until such vermin would come again. < <Biceps Archelon>> - HP: 5,500 - Mitigation: 85 - Accuracy: 100% - Evasion: -5 Abilities: Slow response: Due to the fact that the players launch a surprise attack on it, the event boss won't attack back the first full rotation. Morgenstern 1 Posted March 25, 2017 #139 Share Posted March 25, 2017 Jonathan still had the ringing in his ears from the first roar. Ariel was following him out of the battle. This turtle boss would have to be taken a bit more seriously next time. More frontliners, less lowlies. Some barely had managed to survive, even Jonathan who had managed to stay in the longest along with Ariel had taken a few hits in, and it left his health about half. She sighed and kept moving towards shore. Then another came. This one more had a ferocity to it, almost as if to laugh at them for leaving, but a bit mad that his snacks had left. He covered his ears as the dizziness returned. Somehow the voice of it affected the waters, hurting him and the ship. "All the other ships were trash. Ariel and I ride away on the two strongest" He made it to shore and sailed right onto it. "No worries everyone, I am okay! I know you all had your concerns" He hopped off his new ship and hoped not to see Aereth who would reclaim it as his own in a heartbeat. "Well, you managed to get us this time, next time will be a different story" Spoiler <<Biceps Archelon>> - HP: 4,091/5,500 - Mitigation: 85 - Accuracy: 100% - Evasion: -5 [H:9] HMS Bluebird: 375/2850 HP - 150 Mit [Retreat x3] Morgenstern: 234/840 HP - 82/82 EN - 124 Mit [Captain] Deserted <<Biceps Archelon>> [H:12] Sea Dragon: 1887/3310 HP - 530 Mit [Retreat x2] Ariel: 403/1215 HP - 88/120 EN - 75 Mit [Captain]
