[F5-PP] heat <<The Traveler>> (Dominion, Atzo) {Complete}

Recommended Posts

Atzo was beginning to lose it his health was dropping, the sand was relentless. He was losing sight, This pain was unbearable. He couldn't see anymore, nothing, just blackness. He could only feel the sand and the heat. He still had his eyes open, and a part of him was still registering sight. That part of him was in control. He turned to the snake and attacked. His form was sloppy, like how it was when his dad would beat him. He went back to that point, feeling the pain of his father's fist over and over remembering how his father would do it waiting for a mental switch to fire. When flipped, Atzo goes from analytical to primal. He stops thinking, becomes trapped in his own mind. His now sloppy form caused Atzo to miss the snake. The rage was all consuming, the world could put nothing in his way as he attacked. He would see this thing die, one way or another.

Dominion found himself moving toward Atzo, who just so happened to be attacking the snake with some sort of dehydration or something. In attempting to reach him, but Dominion forgot to cover his face with his arm. A sudden blast of sand hit him like a stone wall, little sharp nettles piercing his skin. He could not feel this, but the damage was still there... or was it. Suddenly, his health bar was back to full, as if nothing had happened. He quickly looked around, trying to spot his friend Atzo. The snake hadn't moved for some reason, but Atzo definitely did. Dominion was responsible to get Atzo out of this mess alive, even if it meant he would die in Atzo's place. Dominion found him and would have begun to run, had not he been targeted by another layer of sand. This layer just blinded him temporarily, causing him to stay where he was.

Something was moving, What was it? Atzo couldn't tell. He was fighting for control. Suddenly the pain subsided. There was still the existing pain of the sand but there was no new pain. He was able to breach the surface of his consciousness. He looked to Dominion, “I hope he is okay” then he looked back to the snake. “Hey, Dominion!” Atzo Shouted “I am going to try to go all in, do you think you can heal me while I do that?” He didn't think he could take many hits from the beast, He had a health potion left though and he may be able to do some real damage to it. He went in to strike without waiting for a response seeing that Dominion still had proper Aggro. If nothing else Dominion had given Atzo a far about of attacks before having to fall back. He just hoped that he could kill it.

Dominion pushed his arms away from his body, making crisp arm motions that moved the sand away. This was his imitation of the tiger, one that required much less concentration. After a second, he opened his eyes. He had moved 6 feet forward with his two steps, making great progress to get to his friend. At this point, Dominion took notice to Atzo's health bar. It wasn't much, but it was still enough for him to take concern over. He walked forward, the snake still seeming to remain still. He slammed his left spirit monkey against his right, a slight golden hue illuminating, even in the sunlight. He struck Atzo's side, hoping that his "friendly" action wouldn't lead him to miss the next attack. "You look as though you are going to pass out. Brighten up a bit!" Dominion said this, his smile like a half moon. He recoiled his arm and allowed. Dominion turned his head and lowered his right shoulder slightly, which would allow Enma to return to his shoulder.

Atzo was back in control, though everything that had happened so far weakened his will immensely. Thankfully Dominion healed him. That would let him regain some control. “Do that again if you can Dominion.” He said as he reared up and attacked the snake. The red glow was comforting. It showed him that he had control. He hit the snake, it wasn't as powerful a hit as he would have liked but he was still able to do some damage. It looked like they had gotten the snake's health into the yellow. Still he was unsure of their ability to fully kill it. Looking to Dominion he hoped that there was something that could be done to increase their odds but doubted that there would be. Still they had to keep trying, if not they would not be able to push on. It was going to be an uphill battle from here on out but if Dominion was confident then he would  attempt to be as well

Dominion, having seen his comrade in combat return from his odd state of mind, remained where he was. Enma turned, having just gotten back on his right shoulder, grabbing Dominion's ear and pulling his head to face his own, and looked him in the eye. It was as if they were thinking the same thing. "Now, give him a chance. He might be a lower level than me, but he has what it takes to fight. I just hope he gets items that will allow him to control his body a bit better. There is nothing like missing a boar over and over again, dealing ridiculously low amounts of damage, and not feel like you have been doing the same thing over and over again... To mention it, I don't even know this guy well enough to fight as friends, but we are doing that anyway" Dominion said to Enma, who just let go of Dominion's ear, a hint of disgust in Enma's expression. "Jeez, you don't seem very happy. You need to cheer up as well." Dominion said this and then broke off into a run, following behind Atzo. Grabbing Atzo's shoulder, his spirit monkeys glowed with a faint golden hue, the health bar completely full.

Atzo knew that Dominion was right behind him and was thankful for the health. It was pretty much all that was keeping him sane right now. He wasn’t sure why he was doing so poorly but he wanted to finish this off as soon as possible. What would be the best way to do that? If they both attacked then they may be able to do it. He looked to Dominion. “Get ready to heal but attack if you can, let's try to knock this out before dinner. Sound good to you?” How long had they been fighting? It seemed like forever but he wasn’t sure how long it had actually been. If nothing else he hopped that they could at least annihilate it here and now. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea… looking for trouble while he was such a low level. Still he wanted to be the one to finish this battle. What did he have to lose? His life was already gone, all this could take was his will. Something he hoped would stick with him longer.

Dominion could hear that Atzo wanted to defeat this mob before dinner. It had only been a couple minutes at tops, but he wouldn't disagree. He could really use some Hot Green Tea from the tavern of the first floor.. or second for that matter. They had finally gotten shipment, which had taken them several months to do. Even though his order was strange, he still wanted to be included. He had made a difference for several starting players, which had been fun. Now, he was assisting this man, someone who he had met on the first day and had seen little of since until now. He could place his trust in this man as much as he could anyone else. Dominion shook his head in agreement to Atzo's statement. "You know, I think finding combat in the desert sands was a good idea, excluding the fact that we didn't make it happen. It isn't every day that you go up against something that makes you feel like man... mortal and woundable. It reminds you of something essential to life.... and I am definitely not missing dinner.", Dominion said, his smile wide. He burst from where his feet were originally, a solid stance in the sand. He literally jumped a foot up, landing on Enma's outstretched hands, whom boosted him several feet into the air. While up, he made his eagle claw hand position, and one that wouldn't be forgettable. Stabbing it into the scales of the snake, he could see the cold eyes as it hissed in his face. Clearly, he had just barely evaded another precise bite from the fangs.

Dominion really was confident. The man was acting like this was no sweat when in all actuality this was much more than your average game. Atzo attempted to attack again but seemed to waist his attack. He was running out of Energy, fast. “Hey I may need to let you take over for a little while while I regain stamina. I won't be leaving combat just recharging” he stepped back and readied himself to recharge. He had forgotten just how low his energy was in the midst of combat. Not to mention that if he was the one doing the most damage. He couldn’t just let his energy fail, It might even make him faint in his state. What more could he do though? He would just have to be a cheerleader for a little bit it seemed. “So, Dominion, What is it that cause you to be so eternally happy?”

Dominion lifted both his arms into the sky, the shine reflected off of the hand wraps, which told him that they were still unscathed. He would not need to get them cleaned any time soon, unlike his unbuttoned white tee-shirt. Atzo, while Dominion was checking his fist weapons still in combat, asked about his eternal happiness. That was something Dominion didn't know how to respond to without delving in. It appeared he would have to explain during his chance for combat. "Well, I would say that being happy just requires a bit of determination and a foresight that everything will always be right. For me, I want to learn everything, and understand everything that comes my way. Therefore, If I am not happy, which hasn't happened yet, I would need to fully understand the situation. However, when would me, a monk, know anything fully?" Dominion said, stepping to the side of the snake. He had lowered his hands back down, looking to see if there were any obvious spot to land a strike.

The heck did that mean?? Atzo was not entirely sure now to interpret what Dominion said. It was like he was talking to Solomon. However Dominion was much more…. Coherent. It was interesting that Dominion seemed so confident in his words and yet made so little sense, but Atzo elected to not worry about it. He watched as the snake moved around the playing field. Every movement the snake made was another data point. And a pattern was starting to form. He was not surprised that the creatures had patterns but the fact that he hadn't seen one until now was not really that surprising either. He hadn't had combat last this long and with time everything devolves into a pattern. For instance, When he attacked it was commonly a turn of rest and then an attack, then rest, then attack. It allowed him to conserve energy and with energy conservation came faster fighting.

Dominion stood beside the neck of the snake, the slight rhythm of movement suggesting that it was a living thing. However, Dominion had learned otherwise. This game was so well designed, at times, he and other players would forget that pain did not exist, or at least not that he could know of. Some day, he would be able to deal damage, enough to hopefully take out an enemy in a couple hits. However, at the moment, that was just a lot of wishful thinking. Suddenly, Dominion saw the snake move back into action. It's neck began to creep forward, which gave him the idea. He quickly jumped up as the head attacked from behind his neck. "Sssalric, you can't catch me when I have Enma giving me the environments details.." Dominion landed on top of the head and of the snake. He reached down, but was shaken off, rolling in the sand. He seemed very happy by this, almost too happy.

Atzo Readied himself to attack. The snake was quicker than he expected though. It easily dodged his attack. “Did I project my attack that badly?” Atzo thought to himself It was disappointing that he had wasted the energy that he just got but there was nothing he could do about it. Unfortunately the snake wasn’t dieing, no matter how hard they hit it was stuck in the yellow.  They were going to keep trying, they had to but still it was a pain in the butt. “Dominion, do you really think we can kill this? Based on how poorly we have been fighting we barely put a dent in its health. Is it just too powerful or are we just out of it today?” He asked, it was a valid question though more accurately it wasn’t could they kill it but instead when would they kill it. The question seemed to loom over Atzo’s head.

Dominion heard Atzo's words loud and clear. He felt as though Atzo wasn't putting much trust in him abilities, even though they were clearly out of the normal realm. However, Dominion just began laughing uncontrollably. He placed his hand on his stomach, reminded of an image of the two snake headed boss attacking him. "I don't know about you, but I think we will have this fight done much faster than you give credit for. You clearly don't know what it feels like to be truly in the life/death situation if you worry so much the length of time and not the outcome." Dominion smiled, his hands now coming up for combat. "Watch, and then tell me if I have just been slacking off or not". Dominion lowered his stance, his hands clenched in tiger fists, the spirit monkeys glowing their usual golden hue. This attack would surely hit... and without a doubt, his tiger strike pierced the side of the snakes scaly body. Dominion then kicked the large snake, only moving it a few feet in it's little crater.

“I never said you were slacking bud” Atzo said as he stepped back “I just have a hard time running combat for so long, You know?” He looked over to Dominion. “And assuming I have never been in a life or death situation is a little condescending. How are you to know whether or not I have been beaten to an inch of my life before?” He thought back to his father's beating, countless times they had ended him up in the hospital, and there was the car crash. But he knew what Dominion truly meant. He meant to be in a position where you have to chose between life or death. He had been there too. He remembered going on a ‘hike’ with his father one day. His father thought it would be a fitting punishment to leave him out in the woods and force Atzo to get home, he was never trained to do it, he never would have been able to even succeed if Ren hadn’t found him. It had been five days and Atzo was so close to death that he was eating rocks. He had sacrificed everything he had to nature and sat on his deathbed.

Dominion took a step back, having missed Atzo's first comment. However, he heard the one to follow loud and clear. He honestly had never heard that word condescending, and therefore would have a hard time understanding his statement. However, he knew he was assuming one thing, but the other was actually made from his earlier statement and general behavior. "Atzo, if that were true, you would have an instinct that more resembled a lion or tiger. Your rage would show in a much different way, and you certainly wouldn't be speaking the way that you speak if you had actually been given the choice. I understand from personal experience because I saved a boy from death. Not once did I ever question the time, but instead I questioned in what way the outcome of my reaction to the given situation would play out." Dominion began to form an idea in his head... If this man didn't resemble the tiger or lion, what style would he most likely resemble? Thinking back while speaking to his days of training in the monastery, he imagined a more careful predator. If he was mistaken, there really was only two choices remaining. One of which really didn't fit Atzo in the slightest. Therefore Dominion had only one other to go with... The Wolf. "I am not saying I know everything, but any human that lived through a life or death decision would think in that way, and you clearly think in a different way." Dominion's study of the human mind was NOWHERE near complete, but he had come across the reaction of people when they were faced with these things. Therefore, Dominion placed his hand on his forehead, his smile still there. "But what do I know about humanity? I still have much to learn... please forgive me for my disrespect." Dominion placed one spirit monkey inside the clasp of the other (like in marching band, trumpet player) parallel to the ground, in front of his abdomen and bowed. There was no worry, as the mob had been paralyzed by the spirit monkeys.

Atzo listened to Dominion. The man had apologized though Atzo had things he wanted to say before he acknowledged it. “You see, Dominion, you can’t just make a conclusion based on one or two people. Everyone acts differently, everyone has different ways of coping with the world. It is the reason that when you do try to learn about psychology you have to pool from a group of people, not just one. I accept your apology, however. Maybe there will be a day when the two of us can sit down and discuss philosophy and psychology.” He ran into battle after he said this. “And then we can more easily understand the viewpoints of each other. How does that Idea sound to you?” He slashed at the snake with his two hit vertical sword art. Its health bar dropped but not nearly as much as he would have liked. Still it was something. Looking back to Dominion, "no one has all the answers. It is up to us to find the people that have some of the answers, learn what they know and then figure out what we can conclude.”

Dominion lost all his concentration about fighting this snake. Atzo, by responding in the manner that he did, gave to Dominion exactly what information needed to begin piecing his symbol together. This guy was just as intelligent as a wolf, but there was no way to tell of his loyalty. Dominion had made the assumption, however, that Atzo would prove that, either he had it or didn't, in due time. He had been expecting Atzo's comment to be a little more light and with much fewer words, but it was clear through Atzo's response that he understood why Dominion's statement was bias. Dominion chose not to mention that he had been studying this in many countries, and therefore his observations were, in fact, correct. However, the conclusion that Dominion made was based on average, and had not included the oddball yet. Dominion had no intention of explaining that to Atzo. Luckily, Atzo didn't symbolize the lion or tiger in almost any way, as he wouldn't likely lash out at him as on of the monks had. However, before Dominion could appropriately disagree with Atzo's offer, the snake lurched from the sand, biting his entire left leg. He noticed, by looking at his health bar, that a significant portion dropped rather suddenly. He reached down with both arms and hit it with his palms. A small amount of damage was done to the snakes health bar, and was nowhere near as significant as his own was.

Atzo was getting a bad feeling about this. The two of them needed to run, needed to leave. “Hey Dominion” He said with intensity “We need to go, now! I am getting a bad feeling about this. The quest is over lets just turn in now and get it over with.” Knowing that Dominion would probably agree, Atzo felt the wind beneath his feet pick up as he fled combat, The snake was focused on Dominion, it allowed Atzo to have a better chance to run away. It wouldn't be too much of a problem for Dominion to run. It was weird for Atzo to run from his problems, it wasnt his normal way of coping. He alway wanted to push through if he could but it wasn’t always a possibility and Atzo understood and accepted that still it bugged him that he would have to flee this combat, they had put in so much effort and now it was all wasted.

Dominion moved back a little bit, his expression was a mischievous smile. He could hear Atzo speak from the side, his words were definitely intense. Dominion almost thought he heard the voice of leadership, but then it sort of trailed into something else. Atzo wanted to run... and honestly Dominion had to agree. Running from an aggravated snake was definitely not something he wouldn't be proud of. Monkeys and snakes didn't like each other. So, Dominion gave Atzo a bit of time, jumping over the body twice. He moved around very swiftly, evading the fierce head of the snake. He only needed to give Atzo a running start, because he would catch up to him in no time. Suddenly moving his foot in the sand to support his body, he suddenly launched himself from the ground. Now Dominion followed Atzo, running in the supposed direction of the main town. The quest was complete, they ran from a snake... Today was a great day.
