Atzo 0 Posted March 2, 2017 Author #21 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Atzo nodded. “It was a good battle for sure. Now to push forward, though I do need some time to rest.” He said as he looked to his energy bar it was lower than he would have liked for a fight. “So what is the plan? Keep fighting? Or should we rest?” He was unsure as to how Shield would want to do it. Though it did concern him about how powerful the creatures were in comparison to them. It wasn’t that they were powerful, just hard to kill. He was unsure though how much harder it was going to get, they still had 2 soldiers, the commander and a King to kill after all. It wasn’t going to be that bad with Shield there to take some of the hits for him but it was still a concern as to just how strong they were. The only way to know was to be there though. And Atzo knew that. @Shield

The desire to be prudent wasn't unreasonable by any means, but he saw them as unnecessary given his experience. He pulled up his map and turned until he found the right direction. "Don't be so concerned," he said, motioning for Atzo to follow him towards the marker that indicated the next relay point on the quest. "I understand the concern, but they can't hurt me. Rest up, and if we encounter anything before you're full, leave them to me." Their path took them through the thick of the forest, ducking low limbs and picking between tree roots with their feet until they came to a small outpost in a clearing. There was a tent, and there outside of the tent stood an imposing looking elf with two escorts. "I think we found our commander." Shield stepped out of the underbrush, and the three elves looked up, their eyes sharp and suspicious. He was familiar with such encounters. They were likely going to ask several probing questions about whether he was friend or foe, and then they would bristle with indignation at the audacity of his actions. As the commander was taking his breath to ask whatever generic questions he had in mind, Shield was already inhaling as well. "Don't even bother!" he howled, brandishing his axe. "We aren't your friends, now come to your deaths, you pointy-eared pixies!" Without a moment's hesitation, the commander had vaulted the table, his two guards in hot pursuit. Dodging Shield's axe each retorted with their own weapon and each recoiled from the bite of his armor. Edited March 2, 2017 by Shield
Atzo 0 Posted March 2, 2017 Author #23 Share Posted March 2, 2017 (edited) Atzo stayed crouched in the bushes as Shield attacked. It was good that he rested up and Shield could take these elves on no problem. It was just bothersome to sit and wait while he watched his friend fight. Still it was his best option at the moment. He glared at Misguidance and watched as Solomon paced back and forth shaking his head. Then something new happened, He saw a scene from his past it showed him in the car insisting that Solomon drove. It played through the car crash from a third person angle, almost like a movie. Then it showed the two of them in the hospital, It panned over the two of them and the doctor coming in to release Atzo. It jumped to a week in the future when Atzo and Ren were talking to the doctors about letting Solomon put on the nervegear to try to help him regain his memories. It was a good idea but the doctors were hesitant about Solomon having a hard time transitioning between the two. @Shield Edited March 2, 2017 by Atzo

This time, his blade found a target, and hard. The initial damage was minuscule, but as his axe crossed the commanding officer's face, it tore a strip of the skin open, red pixels rushing out to swirl in the air like angry fireflies. Retaliating out of anger, the commander's blade sank into Shield's side, only to result in yet another wound on the commander's arm. His cronies attempted to follow their orders, blindly and loyally, but their own attacks had as much result as their commander's, namely, none but on themselves. "Quite an asset to the elves, aren't you three?" Shield taunted, grabbing the commander's sword arm and pulling the blade further into his side. The look on the elf's face registered nothing short of terror, eclipsing the pride that had once graced the shapely facial features. Edited March 2, 2017 by Shield
Atzo 0 Posted March 3, 2017 Author #25 Share Posted March 3, 2017 Atzo was still watching his sword as it changed into Atzo convincing the doctors to try it. They did. After that he transitioned to the first day of the game, finding out it was a death game and learning that he had Condemned Solomon’s fate. It was so unnerving, Atzo couldn’t seem to look away. He was fixated as the scene changed to him looking in a mirror with Solomon behind him, a pleading look in his eyes as is to ask ‘why have you done this to me?’ Atzo was paralyzed, he couldn't move, couldn’t look away. He was stuck. Finally he finally found the will to look away. Once he did it was as if he had suddenly snapped back into reality. He saw Shield and the elves, who were almost dead. Just how much time had he been stuck staring at his sword? It was hard to tell. But he was sure that he would be able to push past through it one way or another. @Shield

Atzo 0 Posted March 3, 2017 Author #27 Share Posted March 3, 2017 (edited) Atzo notice the bleed damage placed on the enemies. It wouldn’t take much more to finish them off. Shield may be a tank but he definitely didn't lack in the ability to deal damage. Not to mention that Shield primarily did damage by allowing others to attack him. It was a very amazing way to fight, that was sure. It showed just how dire consequences for actions could be. He checked his energy, it was finally full but with how low the enemies were, it would probably be best that he just wait it out. They had one more, much more powerful enemy to face next. Atzo hoped that he could deal some substantial damage but knew that it would more than likely resort to him attempting to inflict bleed damage. Still it was worth every attempt. Not to mention that Atzo may have on sword art that did enough damage to break the mitigation if he used it just right. @Shield Edited March 3, 2017 by Atzo

Their health gauges depleted, their bodies gave out, and the air around them was filled with red lights, and then nothing. Atzo 0 Posted March 3, 2017 Author #29 Share Posted March 3, 2017 Atzo, seeing the death of the two elven soldiers, walked onto the battlefield. He had finally regained his will. He was in no way scared, It was clear that Shield’s last strike had caused the Commander to be forced to perish on the next turn. “Well done Shield” He said offering up a fist bump. “If I am correct we should only have one more entity to kill, And now that I am fully recharged it should not be that much of a hassle.” He said, though his comment was confident he did show in his posture that he was not as confident as he sounded. There were too many unknown variables for his liking. To much that could cause him to end up forced to resort to his ‘trade of’ strategy. The one where he would have to pull out and then jump in and so on and so forth. Though he hoped that it would be the other way. Where he would be able to take out the king before that was necessary. @Shield

Shield let his defenses fall to his sides, satisfied that the battle had gone on as long as it would. Before their eyes, the last of the warriors burst, exactly as those who had done so before him. "Well, that didn't take long at all," Shield said, a little half smirk on his face. "Oh didn't it?" boomed a voice from the tent that stood in the clearing. A regal figure, his head crowned with a gilded wreath of leaves, stepped from the tent flap, his billowing robe sweeping just above the ground as the apparent elven king stepped into the clearing. At his hip was a jeweled long sword. His shoulders bore a set of gold plated puoldrons. Even his finely tailored boots spoke to money and power. "It did not," replied Shield, standing up to his full height as he squared up with the monarch. The two stared one another down, Shield reading the king as best he could, which was impossible given the arbitrary nature of the appearances of enemies. "Let's see what the king of these pathetic elves is like in battle," he howled, his wind creating a foil-like rattle from the thin, metallic leaves in the king's wreath. Dealing a minimal amount of damage the King yelled “You call that a hit?” attempting to taunt Atzo. Atzo swiftly responded with confidence “Oh, I am not worried about my initial hit, it is what comes after that hit that counts.” Knowing that Atzo caused bleed damage, Atzo confidently readjusted his stance ready for another go. This may take longer than Atzo expected but thanks to bleed damage it would still be a quickish victory. He looked to Shield who he knew was prepared to take the next hit. Apparently, Atzo's hit had been an effective one. Shield was going to have to keep on top of the king to keep the focus on him, rather than the less experienced player. He took his axe, but rather than turning it against the king, he turned it against his own shield, drawing as much attention as he could as he filled his lungs. "Pathetic weakling," he bellowed, ruffling the wavy locks that ran down over the monarch's regal shoulders. "Your men died to protect you, and yet you have so little to bring to the table! You call yourself a king? Well, I call you a captain, because you're about to go down with your ship!" "You waste your breath mocking me," seethed the king as he readied himself to strike. "You know nothing of my reign!" With a push from his back leg, the king lunged into a thrust, plunging his rapier tip deep into Shield's abdomen. So far in fact, that his hand actually grazed the razors protruding from the tank's armor. Between that and the bleeding effect, a significant portion of his health disappeared. He was back to analysis, waiting, watching, taking every movement into account. There was no blind spot, no missing link. Atzo watched everything. “What more can I do to destroy this thing?” He thought to himself “Is there anything I can do? Or is what I am doing right now my current limit?” It was a good question for him to ask, let him scope out his abilities in real time, instead of calculating them meticulously in his head. Beginning to lose his composure, the king retorted, hastily sending his rapier back into Shield, and with the same results as before. More tiny tears opened along the back of his hand, and he bellowed out in a most undignified fashion. He was now deep into his yellow bar, and from Shield's estimates, not far from the red. No, i dont think they expected to be defeated by us.” Atzo said with a chuckle “Not to mention that these elves could barely do anything to you and when they did they got double back.” It was interesting how these elves exemplified exactly how Atzo imagined the elves would be. Shield stepped forward, bringing Bloody Hell around in a wide sweeping arc. The proud elf leaned back, letting the blade miss him by inches. In the same fluid motion, the king rocked forward and pushed off with his back foot, putting his body and momentum behind the sword's thrusting point. It grazed the tank, the point slipping along the curve of his ribs. "Ha HA!" laughed the king, triumphantly. "And did you see that coming?" Shield 0 Posted March 6, 2017 #40 Share Posted March 6, 2017 (edited) "You know, he's only a computer program," Shield said, his features stern. These were the same sentiments that Atzo had offered him during their first fight, though Shield had been toying with his food like a cat and mouse while Atzo now seemed to be throwing his food at the wall. He did not appear angry, but he was focused and his brow was knit in concern. "Not only that, but it's one that was near death already." The king let out a howl of rage, charging at the tank. As he lifted his rapier, readying it to slash in a blind rage, eschewing the weapon's finesse and even its style of attack, he bust into red pixels, littering the ground with a swishing cloud of red that disappeared into thin air a moment later. In front of them, the quest victory dialog box appeared, but Shield dismissed it. He wondered to himself if he should say something further, but this seemed to be a personal matter for Atzo. He had said enough already. "Come on," he said, motioning for Atzo to follow. "Let's head back to town." While the other player had come a long way, and despite the fact that the two of them had actually done a fair amount of adventuring together, there was still much that Shield did not know about Atzo just yet.
