[F3- Event Boss] Asterios- The Bull King

Recommended Posts

As @Hikoru, @Ariel - The Crowned Lion, and @Zandra have not posted, each takes 25% Health DMG!

AS STAFF OVERLOOKED THE AoE PARALYZE, IT WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO BE USED BACK-TO-BACK AFTER GROUP ONE NEXT ROTATION!

Asterios calmly looked around, searching for any challengers. Had he scared them out of their wits at his slight display of power? "Yes. I like this much more" he muttered to himself. He raised his axe high into the air and said, "YES MORTALS! ALLOW ME TO SHOW YOU MY POWER, ONCE MORE!" Humans were entertaining to keep around. Perhaps he would keep one or two alive as a prisoner. He looked over to the group who had just writhed on the ground and were now just recovering from his most previous attack. He lowered his axe down in front of the tank as he kneeled. He liked that. Kneeling as if he respected him. He stepped into the middle of the four once more, and then spun quickly on his hoof, slamming his axe into each of them. a shock was sent out as more paralysis was to come. He let out a bellowing laugh and watched as they fell to the ground once again.

He began to stroll over to the sole group that originally attacked Baran, his former General. He snorted and readied his axe, preparing to pound into this new group of players that had come waltzing into his evening stroll.

"Well if that last hit did not show a message, I don't know what will." The snow-haired player would mutter calmly before turning his head to the side to look towards as many players as possible. "For those who have lower health, I suggest retreating while you are able to. Those who can heal, we'll need your assistance to handle the current players." With that, he would place the hood of his coat over his head and his eyes. Placing his tome upwards, he would proceed to cast green light from it, attempting to target the players who obtained a nasty hit and a paralysis effect. Whispering, he would hope to successfully cast out the heal. But with the sudden mighty force, he was unable to get the flow out from his palm,, resulting in a failed attempt. "Shoot! Anyone else who can heal, we could REALLY use that for some people, or we are going to lose some frontliners!" At this point, he was getting desperate. One of his profits was among them, one of the Paladins was there, and the rest were the frontliners. There was plenty of incentive to try to save them, yet he was only able to do as much as he could. Fortunately, he had a decent amount of mitigation and battle healing to give him an assist.

With the higher level player staking little action, Beat watched Asterios punish their lethargy, their hit points taking a significant hit. It was obvious that the event was tiered by matching parties against bosses that would give each of them a good challenge, meaning the remaining boss was meant for players far above their level.

Damn, I don’t want that guy swinging at us, but if he drops our top frontliners, we’ll really be in trouble. I have to think about the future of the front lines too!

Beat charged forward towards his new target, his charge skill activating once again, giving him a small boost of speed and strength as he approached. He knew that Asterios was certainly better matched against the more experienced players, but with the number of health bars he had, it would take a team effort to bring him down. Beat just hoped it wouldn’t cost any more lives.

"Take this!"

Beat’s fist hit home, managing to do a little damage, but he could tell that it was a losing fight if that was the best he could do.

Damn…

OOC- For those who have forgotten what Domarus' armor looks like it is black full body armor with a glowing red visor, not revealing his identity at all:

It was clear to Domarus at this point what action he must take.  He saw the lower levels rallying in hopes to assist the other players to fight this boss but with the monster having near full health, an aoe stun attack, as well as fairly high damage, there would be no defeating it.  Not this time around.  Domarus scanned the parties, ignoring the first group as he already knew what to do with them.  The second group, the party with the players most likely to take down Asterios, were almost all in red or low health.  His own group seemed to be doing fairly well but he knew that would not last long.  The fourth group was another party of low leveled players and the fifth and final one seemed to be doing good as well.  Sey apparently tried to heal and he sent a suggestion to players.  However there would be those who either didn't listen to suggestions, or couldn't hear him during the carnage and the radius between Sey and them.  So Domarus spoke up.
"GROUP ONE!  GROUP FOUR!  GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!"  Domarus turned to the only player he knew in the first group.  Hidden.
"HIDDEN IF THEY DON'T LEAVE YOU DRAG THEM OUT.  WE DONT' WANT ANOTHER DEATH."  He turned to look at the fourth group and spotted Dominion.  Since the fourth and second groups were closer to his he could speak in a lower tone and they'd still hear him.
"Dominion!  You're in charge of getting that group out of here.  Don't leave anyone behind!  Group two, unless you can heal yourselves to high health again in one go I suggest you leave too.  We don't need people dying, especially the stronger ones."  Domarus then looked at his own group.
"We're going to try to keep the boss's focus on us.  If you don't think you can survive another hit or the next one then flee now.  Like I said I don't want anyone else dying so keep it's attention focused on our group until they other's have cleared out."

Domarus charged at the general and made an attempt to strike him, showing that he was not in the slightest afraid of Asterios, just cautious.  He struck at the monster but it seemed evasive as well.  Just another reason they needed to get out of here.  This boss was an equivalent to a floor boss, not an event boss.  Evasive and with high mitigation, health and damage?  It seemed that Kayaba wanted to see a few players die today.

After the failed attack Domarus landed near the fifth group.  As he returned to his own party he passed Mack and spoke to him.
"Do whatever you can to keep the boss's focus on you're party.  We can take a few hits but soon enough even we'll need to pull out.  This boss has far too much mitigation, health and an apparent aoe status attack for all of us to handle.  We'll need to retreat after the lower players have escaped.  I'm counting on you guys."  After that he charged back to his party to help protect them.

Shield cursed under his breath. His body refused to move for him to be able to stand after being thrown into his party. He strained against the status effect that had befallen him, but the little symbol in the bottom of his display told him that he would need to wait it out. In the mean time, he would not be able to defend his party. He would not even be able to give any input on whether or not to attack and draw Asterios' ire.

While he had gambled before and drawn the focus of the lesser minotaur, and while his cape would allow him to focus on Asterios and begin to accrue hate, that was not a decision he was in the position to make. He would have to wait it out and see what his party intended. Before he had time to question this, however, the group as a whole began to press the offensive.

Guess that answers that for me.

His body was unable to move, but he swiveled his eyes and locked them onto the remaining boss, glaring and focusing with all of his might on the great horned creature. Between his intense focus and the frustration of being stunned, he could feel his blood boiling. However, unless one of his allies managed to land a critical hit, he would be able to draw the foe's ire.

Foregoing action

It was useless. They wouldn't be able to beat that last boss if the battle continues like it has up until now. Domarus and Beat had some points in what they were saying about keeping the attention of the boss on their group as well as getting the lower leveled players out of here. He shortly looked at his blade, arguing if he should also charge in and attack the boss or rather stay back and help the ones who were leaving. Knowing that he didn't do enough damage to harm the boss enough, Aereth choose to go with the second suggestion. "I'm useless in the battle, but I'll help the lower levels leave the battlefield." He said more to himself than to anyone else before sheathing his blade and jogging over to @Hidden
"Hidden , Dom is right. You need to get the low levels out of here. I'm useless in that battle but I want to help you getting them outa here." He then turned to her party and repeated what Domarus just said. "All of you! We need to get you guys out of that battle."

@Hydra you're up man.

The whole area turned into chaos as the dueling raged on. Hydra wasn't sure when or how but at some point there groups target had been slain and now other members of the group he was placed in seemed to be focusing attention on the last remaining general, Asterios. A large area of effect attack came directed towards his group, bracing himself it appeared the damage sustained was relatively low, however it was clear to Hydra that this was all far from over. "How are the frontliners doing?" He suddenly realized, alarmed at the fact it was the only one who hadn't been taken out. Hydra glanced around the battlefield, other than the first death it seened no more seemed to had fallen, although it was honestly hard to tell with people moving frantically all over the place.

"Should I retreat?" The thought was quick and filled with doubt, he didn't have the time to sit around and think, others lives were on the line. Catching site of Sey, Shield and other members  of his group all standing there ground he shook his head "I have to help the others, even if its only a little." Moving towards his party and ignoring the general he activated his first aid skill, unfortunately this being the first time he had ever actually attempted it the skill shortly sparked out healing nothing. Hydra cursed under his breath, fear slowly growing upon him.

Asterios stood proudly and listened to the mortals speak. Some yelled for retreat, while others seemed confused and not do anything. He mued over this a second and then poke proudly. "Yes indeed. Retreating would be the best thing for all of you, if you don't wish to become like them" He pointed his axe in the direction of the players that had been reduced to health's that would have them dead in no time. A few players tried to health those such players, but they had no luck. They were weaker than the one's that were about to meet their own demise. 'Perhaps I should just show them exactly what I mean' the bull king thought. He looked over and seen a flash of light from a player recovering from his own paralysis. He looked at such player maliciously and began to stamp its hoof into the ground, flattening the ground underneaht his hoof. He charged, attacking his target without his axe. He stoopped by the recovering playerand snatched him up by the throat.

He held his prize in the air, showing him to everyone. "FLEE NOW, OR EVERYONE SHALL MEET THEIR DEMISE!" He could pursue the fleeing players after he was done with the few that had enough courage or stupidity to stand firm. He would charge the towns with his army and overrun the little "Safe Zones" the players and NPC's had made for themselves. He grinned at his target before slamming him, by his throat, into the ground. Sending up a cloud of dust. From there, he slammed him down further with his hoof for good measure. "Stupid Mortals" He muttered to himself.

Soredell's eyes widened in pure horror at the unfolding situation and it's downward spiral as things got worse and s*** continued to hit the fan. Many of the 'front-liners', the ones equipped to take on a boss such as Asterios were either paralyzed, edging on the red zone of their health, or both. If they went down, it would just be the few that didn't take any damage and could still stand, namely the crimson paladin of the Knights of the Blood Oath, Heathcliff, and the other low level players like him, who couldn't possibly hope to defeat Asterios. All things considered, there was only one course of action left for the lower levels to take...

"GROUP ONE!  GROUP FOUR!  GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" he heard someone yell over the madness. He didn't bother listening to the rest of the message, when he knew what needed to be done. "EVERYONE! HAUL ASS, WE'RE GETTING OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW!" he yells out over the chaos to his party, essentially relaying the previous message. He starts to escort and drag players in his party back, not wanting a single one of them to die. He wouldn't allow it. Even if they chose to stand and fight out of courage or stupidity, he would still pull them back. As much as it pained him to not see a chance of loot or some sort of reward at this essentially failed event, now wasn't the time for greed, or heroics; now was the time to survive. They would live to fight another day.

((@Dominion @Miss_Mestophales @Tomas @Solomon @Aoda, keeping in accordance with retreating rules, unless we have teleport crystals, we cannot actually leave the thread as Asterios has more health than us. We're just gonna have to sit tight and wait, and not draw hate from Asterios.))

Miss Mestophales almost fell over from her hand stand when the someone had shouted. She turned herself about and looked upside down as many of the front liners were going into the ringer. Her eyes with the bored expression, "Man, so boring..." The woman sprung from her hands and did a somersault as she landed on her feet, perfect ten score landing! She whipped her arms around with a prideful expression but many players were turning tail and running, "Hey! Where is--OMG!--" The woman took her spear in hand and bolted with the speed of the wind with her. She rushed passed Soredell running with him and smiled, "hey there cutie~" She gave him a wink until they were safely away from the madness unfolding. The female tiger slid to a stop and her cat eyes narrowed so she could get a better look at what was going on now. She folded her arms over her heaving chest and laughed, "That was kinda fun actually. I love running, but I am not stupid enough to get slaughtered. I am sure they'll be alright." The woman said but she didn't honestly know if that would be true at all. With nothing much else left to do, she stood and looked onward with those who vacated from the fight along with her. Live to see another day.

OOC: MUST READ!

  Reveal hidden contents

Asterios, the golden furred King of the Minotaurs, watched with a haughty expression on his bovine face as the players scrambled about in the chaos of battle. Truthfully, they resembled nothing so much as a collection of chickens that had suffered the misfortune of having their heads removed from the rest of their bodies. “Pathetic,” the minotaur rumbled, snorting through his nose.

“Commander, I require a speaking platform,” the King snorted, directing the Field Commander in the direction of the paralyzed players. Dutifully, the Field Commander approached the players that had been paralyzed and arranged them one on top of another in a haphazard pile of bodies. When he was satisfied with the terror that such a speaking platform would inspire, Asterios strode towards the pile of paralyzed players and, standing atop them like a conquering hero of myth, he began to speak.

“Surely, by now, you savages understand that your best efforts shall count for naught. True, you did kill my Lieutenants, but I shall avenge them many times over,” Asterios rumbled in a deep, carrying tone that echoed around the small clearing. “Still, I am not without a sense of honor. Those among you who are too sad, too pathetic, and too weak to hope to challenge my grandeur will be permitted to leave. There is no honor in slaughtering calves. The rest of you sad little mortals, little knowing you challenged a god, will have to face the consequences, but I shall allow you to reorganize yourselves more properly, however if you attempt to heal yourselves in any way during this time of withdraw I shall be greatly displeased. Of course…”

The minotaur trailed off as he hopped lightly down from the podium of paralyzed players. Sheathing his weapon, he grabbed Shield and Ariel by the front of their armor, one in each hand and lifted them up to eye level. “If you wish to repent of your stupidity in attacking me, you will find I am most unmerciful,” he said, drawing his arm back and flinging the erstwhile tank in the direction of Mack, Macradon, and Beatbox.

“Though, foolish girl,” he continued, placing his muzzle almost directly against Ariel’s nose, “If you wish to beg for your miserable and pathetic life then you may feel free to grovel at my feet and amuse me, perhaps I will spare you and allow you to serve me that you might properly learn from the hooves of a very god himself what it means to be a warrior.”

With that, he dropped Ariel with a dull clanging thud to land in a heap upon the pile of players that had, so recently, been gifted with the opportunity to serve the Minotaur King’s purposes and to lay at his hooves as he shared some of his bovine wisdom with them.

OOC: Withdrawing.

Tomas instinctively, and reflexively, ducked as Shield went sailing by over his head. The Holy Man had intended to stay and continue the fight, if for no other reason than that he suspected the game system would not allow him to retreat. Beyond that, the longer one stayed in combat before retreating the greater the amount of experience they would earn from the event. That was but simple logic. However, when presented with an opportunity to safely escape while, presumably, still retaining the already accumulated rewards, there was little debate in the mind of the monk.

In a single, smooth, action the leather gloved hands of the fencer raised the weapon in salute to Asterios before smoothly sliding the rapier back into its sheath. Giving the hood of his cloak a quick tug, to insure that his face remained hidden in the garment’s deep hooded shadow, the monk turned smartly on his heal and strode from the battlefield to a safer observation point. One could not complete their divinely ordained mission if they were dead.

OOC: Withdrawing.

As Asterios, seemingly, called the fight to a temporary halt the Irishman sheathed his tomahawk and considered his options. While it seemed likely that he could, at the very least, keep up a combat front against the Field Commander minion that had been spawned earlier in the fight it was extremely unlikely that he would be able to do anything other than get in the way if he tried to fight Asterios. It seemed quite clear that the King of the Minotaurs was beyond his capability to fight in a safe and meaningful way. It would have been like trying to sink a battleship by ramming a wave runner into it and, unfortunately for the blonde man, in that metaphor he was the wave runner. Sighing, the solo adventurer sheathed ran a finger over the blade of the sheathed tomahawk and slung his shield over his back before departing, silently, from the field to observe what remained of the combat from a safe distance.

OOC: Withdrawing

Soredell for the most part ignores everyone else, mainly the cat girl as he rushes past, trying to get the others on his party away from the conflict, when the battle goes silent. He stops in his retreat to turn to see what is happening. The bastard Bull-King Asterios was essentially mocking all of them, but is letting the lower levels retreat safely. That was something that he would need to do, as well as the other low level players. But what of the higher level players? The ones that were paralyzed? What would become of them? He grit his teeth before making his decision. He eyes Asterios, not caring whether or not he looks back and holds his katana in one hand, flourishing it for a moment before sheathing the weapon, and backs away slowly. He couldn't be sure that Asterios would simply keep to his word and let them run. He had to be careful.

Eventually, he tries to lead whoever else is withdrawing from combat to a safe distance from the battle, Soredell himself standing atop a short ledge on a hill overlooking the battlefield. He couldn't trust that the remaining players that would fight could win this fight on their own. They needed help. Pulling up his menu and furiously typing up a message on the public boards, he sends it off, and hopes there are high level players that would respond to the situation, and act as reinforcements.

  Quote

To: All

We need any high level players to make their way over to the Asterios even immediately on the 3rd Floor. We're going to need help or we're going to be seeing dead players.

OOC: Withdrawing

"Good luck!" That was all the feline woman would say as she waved her hand back and forth to anyone who was paying attention to her. She turned away from the battle and marched away. She very well knew someone of her stats would not even scrape the surface of that event Boss and nor would she even try. Others were fleeing and it was to see another day! Mistophales would not look back as she removed herself safely from the battlefield and sat on her butt in the safezone away from that madness. There was nothing this woman could do anyways, this event was a lot harder than she had realized and with only a handful of SP and experience, she would not survive the fight. Drawing in a deep breath, the woman exhaled slowly and meowed with a stretch of her limbs and fell backwards. Her tail whipping back and forth before resting on her own belly and she shut her eyes, "Time to catch a few winks then..." She yawned briefly and then laid there out like a light and basking in the warmth of the sun.

OOC: Reinforcement Arriving for duty!

Baldur had been too late for the Asterios fight, and when he had shown up to the meeting place, everyone had left. He had cursed his slow response, and loitered around to see if anyone else had been in a similar situation as he had. The gaijin samurai had fallen asleep resting against a tree as only a high level would be able to do in a non-safe zone. He awoke to a message calling for help from the event boss group.

"$#!7"

Leaping to his feet, Baldur began to run towards where the event was supposed to happen. As he did so, he drank his <<Safeguard>> potion, unsure of the situation he was running into, equipping the cursed blade <<Muramasa>> as he did. Whatever the situation, he might need that blade's power to save lives. He resisted using it whenever possible, but for the big ones, he brought it out.

"Hold on, I'm on my way!" Baldur said to no one.

OOC: Retreating/Withdrawing from battle

Then in seconds, everything would happen all at once. The angered Asterios would attack the other groups relentlessly. Shouts were heard, and a large man in a suit of armor was to be heard, telling her to take the others and flee. The voice was familiar, and she knew it to be Domarus. As much as she hated fleeing, she was no idiot. Asterios smashed a man into the ground by his neck and then faced the players, giving his speech of how noble he was to let those who were not worthy flee. She rolled her eyes. If she was stronger, she would shove a dagger down his throat. She looked over to her allies and said, "Flee now and don't waste your life. We need to retreat" She moved to flee and then turned back around, looking back at Sey. 'I am not leaving without that idiot' She turned, charging forward. She grabbed Sey by the collar adn pulled him back. "We're leaving now. You're not getting away from me that easily Casper" She turned and towed the man along with her, moving  away from the battle that was no longer her's.

OOC: Withdrew from the battle

He could have used this time to heal people. Opening the tome, he would place his palm out to an injured, only to be warned that if any attempt to heal had been performed, they would end up not getting the best result. Clenching his teeth as he glared at the boss monster, he would place the tome and his palm down, preventing anything from occurring. Hidden would pull him back by the collar, seems like the choice had been made for him. Still though, he chuckled a bit. "D'awwwww, you really care~." Sey would reply to her before then putting his attention back to the people. "Don't let Asterios have his baiting words stop you. If he gave you a chance to step back, do it. It's better to be alive than to die prideful." So with that, he would be dragged back with his lover. Hopefully the others would soon join them. The less deaths, the better for the game, as they needed as many players possible in order to bail out.

While enjoying the usual bloodshed of his typical systematic grinding runs, Takao's menu was alerted to the arrival of a private message. In the downtime between spawns, he opened it and read it, and the contents raised his eyebrow. It was somewhere between a call to arms and cry for help for an event on the third floor. Luckily, for his own convenience, he lived and hunted on the third floor regularly, which was where he found himself at present.

"Otoko," Takao called out to his familiar, who lounged lazily beneath his favourite tree. Its head raised and tilted as it saw Takao approaching, and scurried up his arm to sit on his shoulders with a simple gesture from the green-haired teen. "Change of plans, buddy. I think some folks are havin' some trouble up this way, so we're gonna help 'em out." He explained, earning a huff of breath and pathetic plume of black smoke from the rat-like reptile's flared nostrils. "Don't look so annoyed. You don't even do nothin'." Takao said, exchanging a look with the familiar as he started off in the direction of the fight.

The evacuation of the lower leveled players was going pretty well. Most of the weaker players were retreating and so would Aereth in a couple of moments. He would be no help in the battle to come, and thus opted to stay out of it. No unnecessary risks. Better retreat to fight another day, than to die a stupid hero death. But before leaving he cast one more look to the players that had decided to stay in the battle in order to take the stupid boss down. Some of his party decided to stay, and Aereth hoped for all of them that they wouldn't die such a pointless death at the hands of a NPC.

After that he sheathed his blade and left the battle with all the other players that decided to get their a''es out of the fight. "What do we say to death? Not today..." he mumbled and activated a teleport crystal that brought him back to his home floor.

Retreating. Aereth left the thread.
