Height: 1.92m

History
Esteban is the Japanese born son of a Japanese local, and a Spanish immigrant. The only peculiarity in his family? He’s got money. Sure, he might not live in a mansion, but he’s always been able to do what he likes. So, from a young age, he looked towards technology to entertain himself. Not a total computer nerd, but he was getting there.

As for school… Well, it was alright. He was never the most focused student, though. Instead, he dedicated his time to the internet, video games, and making friends in general. Esteban was proud to be a social butterfly, and he rode that bit of his life all the way through.

Nearing his sixteenth birthday, the boy got a gift he’d had wanted for years - Pieces for a gaming computer, a recording headset, and a license for video editing software. And so, he began his career as a streamer. At first, he had pretty rough numbers. Maybe ten people per stream. Not too encouraging, but his persistent nature refused to just drop this aspiration of his. Plus, talking into a headset and knowing someone could listen was fun! So, he kept going at it. But things really skyrocketed when he bought the nerve gear, and participated as one of the first few reviewers. The content void did wonders to boost his viewer rating, and his personality kept them reeled in. So his popularity grew until fans were in the hundreds of thousands. Not too shabby a number.

When SAO was first announced, he followed any news he can like a dog chasing a ball. From game mechanics, to maps, to news on the creators themselves! Although he wasn’t accepted into the closed beta, he was lucky enough to make a profit around the hype of the game, talking about it live with his fans, getting online interviews, and exposing people all they could to how cool the game would be.

And as days for the release date ticked down, everyone on Esteban’s channel, including the man himself, grew even more excited. Preorders were bought, the game had been pre-downloaded, and within the first hour of it actually going live, Esteban- Now known as Eschaton on the SAO community, set up his first stream.

His stream never got too far, unfortunately. It crashed after the Death Game announcement. And now he’s stuck here- Wishing his fans could pull him out.

Personality

Esteban is a charismatic, socially attractive, transparent individual who really just acts like a gravitational force to everyone around him; Or, at the very least, a beacon. It’s hard to miss out on his cheerful nature, good-natured jokes, and upbeat demeanor. He’ll always try to help and encourage his teammates in whatever way he can- Be it with jokes, encouraging messages, physical or verbal comfort, or just a quick “let’s do it!” He’s just like that. Free of any agenda, and unwilling to step over people. He isn’t a manipulator, and he isn’t subtle at all. If you like him straight off the bat, great! Otherwise, you just won’t click together.

But although he’s generally a good person, he is a bit ambitious, sometimes in a bad way. He’s always trying to getting people to rally behind him, and he doesn’t understand how to thoughtlessly follow a person. This, when dealing with bigger guilds, is generally a bad thing. He’s also fiercely independent, so he’d much rather help people than have them help him. More of a “give and fawn at how self-sufficient I am” sort of guy. He’ll only accept help when he really, really knows he’s screwed.

And that’s another trait of him! He doesn’t know when he’s in to deep. He’s generally very confident in his skills, be it in combat or socialization, and he doesn’t know when to turn down until he’s already in the lion’s den. In battle, he’d much rather charge and take out a few monsters than stay conservative with his team. Reckless, but it’s just part of his proactive nature.

But, he makes up for all this by having pretty good foresight with everything else. He can estimate what people will more or less say or do, and he can adapt quickly to these changes as he sees fit. So, overall, if he can realistically do it, he’s unstoppable. Unfortunately, he’s always pushing his limits just a bit too much.

Virtues:

  • Optimistic: Eschaton is an optimist, through thick and thin. It sets him apart from most people trapped in this hopeless world, and it's a wonderful rallying point. He'll always try to push through difficult situations as best he can, and drag other people along with him, and most importantly, prosper in this sort of virtual hell. It isn't to say he doesn't have negative thoughts every so often- He just doesn't let himself be externally put down by it. Either fake it til you make it, or ignore it completely!

  • Enthusiastic: Eschaton is very easily excitable. It's actually pretty frightening, if you don't know him. He'll always take life with a 'woo!' or 'lets do it!' if the odds seem even remotely survivable.

  • Proactive: Unlike most nerds in game, Eschaton is the complete opposite of a couch potato. He's got tons of energy to him, and he will always take an opportunity to release it in whatever task he or his guild needs doing. Could this just as easily be a flaw? Depends on your point of view. But in Eschaton's eyes, the more stuff you do (without dying), the closer you are to getting out of this place! Or dying, which is technically still an exit!

  • Long Term Planning: Eschaton is very skilled at developing a plan of action, and sticking to it. Maybe it's just an ability he's gained cause of his lifestyle- But in any case, it works for raids, guilds, laying low as a criminal, everything! That said, he isn't the best at communicating those plans to others. More on that later.

  • Friendly: Part of what's gotten Eschaton so far in the entertainment business is his friendly attitude towards all people. Relaxed? Probably not. But definitely friendly. He'll welcome you with open arms no matter who you are.
Well, that's a stretch. Maybe not if you're a PK.

Flaws:

  • Naive: As sweet as Eschaton can be, he's definitely an idealist. Sure, living in Aincrad has hardened him from all fun and games, but he still doesn't have the best judgement. Thankfully, he has a nose for trouble, and he can stay out of it pretty well. (For now. This will definitely change, if he gets eviler friends.)

  • Intense: With Eschaton, it's either go big, or go home. He's loud, fun-loving, hardly ever serious, and he's always looking for something to do. This is a major turn-off for certain people, especially more reserved ones. Ever see him with a bookworm friend? Give him a pat on the back- That man is probably suffering.

  • Easily Frightened: It isn’t to say Eschaton can’t be brave. He’s just very easily intimidated by monsters, and he’d much rather have a plan that just walk into one. Walking into one will probably make him jump. No, he is not the most badass person when surprised.

·         Arrogant: It’s hard to be humble when you’re clad in full steel armour, armed with a shield and a spear. So, Eschaton has become pretty cocky over the years! Not arrogant enough to have him insult people, but he will definitely charge a group of monsters, ignoring any semblance of a combat system and replacing it for ‘bravery’.

·         Power Hungry: Okay, so this one ties into his last flaw. But it goes a bit deeper than just confident. He only really feels comfortable when he’s taking the lead- Be it cause of his giant shield or ego, we just don’t know. But it’s a major detriment when dealing with other factions, especially those he can’t assimilate.
