[OP-F1] It's Not A Dream

Recommended Posts

Hera, woke up in the middle of the night once again, unable to regain any rest because of the nightmares she's been having for the past week, since the announcement that they were stuck in this world. The thought of it was beautiful, but was also very creepy. Even though Hera didn't have many friends, in fact, she didn't have ANY friends, she sat her days away in a tavern room alone, staring at the four walls of her room until she eventually was taken by sleep. It seemed to be about midnight when she looked out the window, lights outside in the street were lit, and illuminated paths across the town it seemed.

She rose out of her bed and put on her leather gear, which was very basic, and had close to no protection value. It was light, and so was her wooden buckler, and her one-handed straight sword. "A walk can't hurt", she said quietly to herself. She sheathed her blade onto her back and put the strap of her buckler around her chest, over her breasts, holding the buckler against her back and shoulder blades.

She left the tavern room and expected to see nobody, but instead, she saw numerous players in the middle of the bar that was associated with the tavern. Hera bypassed any players without giving them even a look and left the building. She was no in the open courtyard of the town center, that was surrounded by other buildings such as a forge of a blacksmith, a tailors market stand, and a fountain in the center. She turned right and continued down a cobble and gravel path that led to an open arch in the town wall that led to an open field outside. Beyond in the plains it was possible to see tree lines from the moonlight, clearly able to indicate that this was the entrance to the woods on the first floor.

She was only a level one, but still decided to take her chances by going into the woods at night. If she died, at least nobody will know then because she hasn't bothered with any association of players whatsoever. The forest was dark, with very few patches of moonlight actually able to make contact on the ground. Still. It was enough to illuminate paths through the forest.

Every now and then she heard a twig snap or a movement of the bushes and leaves, probably just a boar. Nothing in this world seemed to scare her or impress her, seeing as her life depended on it. If she wanted to get through this game, she needs to get through it without fear. Without happiness. Without... friends. She opened her GUI menu really quick to look at a category that said "Friend List". She opened it and saw a series of blank slots, proving that she has no friends. She even took the time and courtesy to delete the few NPC's that are automatically registered in your friends list when you join.

Again, another twig breaking, but instead of it coming from her own footsteps or from in front of her, she heard it close. And it was right behind her. When she turned around there was a humanoid figure standing there, it looked like a monster, an elf perhaps. So she drew her sword and buckler from her back and readied herself for oncoming death. When she neared the figure, to make out a face, she saw that it was a player.

Katrina, or just Kat, even though her username was KoolKat, stood there looking at now branded, 'Loner Newb'. She had a grily 'Robin Hood' getup on (Check my journal for the appearance and pics), a one-sided battleaxe strapped to her back and a pouch at her side with several knife handles sticking out of them. "So, Loner Newb, decide to take a stroll out in the big, bad, dark woods in the middle of the night all alone? Pretty bold for a non-expert, I'd say." Kat would say, her face scrunched up as she checked out 'Loner Newb's' equipment and looks. (You don't have an appearance anywhere :P) As 'Loner Newb' looked at Kat, it would seem like Kat was flicking in and out of existence, Kat's skill battling with 'Loner Newb's' skill.

Hera was now able to hear a voice, it was feminine. The player was now assured to be female, however Hera knew she didn't like her instantly from the first words she heard from this player. Instead she looked the shaded figure up and down and turned around to continue walking. Ignoring the fact that a player now knows where she is located and could potentially PK her, but even if so, Hera mentally and physically prepared herself for it as she walked away holding her buckler and her sword still. There honestly, was no point in putting away the weapon because if a monster did happen to appear, she would need to be ready for it. How could she have missed such an important detail.

Even though Hera knew that she wasn't an expert at the game, in fact, she was below beginner rank. However, Hera was used to such treatment, she IS different from other players as in the real world. Everyone treats her the same, no matter if it's inside of a game or in her own household. She used her <> Skill to see if the source of the player was still around, and sure enough it was still there. Hera wasn't sure if she was being followed or if another player arrived. However, she would be ready for such a fight. If the all high and mighty "Koolkat" as the player name said, wanted to pick a fight. Hera won't hesitate to give a swing at her.

Kat puckered her lips at Loner Newb's reaction. She was mildly ticked off, but thought it was rather hilarious how Loner Newb was acting all big and tough. Instead of prying further, Kat simply took the trees. Kat jumped back and forth between trunks of the trees between her, until getting towards the top. She then would kite across the branches, keeping Loner Newb in sight to see if she would get attacked by any monsters that Kat could steal to smite Loner Newb for brushing her off.

Hera refused to fall to another person. It was bad enough people hated her, but this girl was just persistent. Hera continued walking, even though she disliked being stalked like this, she was ready for anything. She heard rustles from behind her, probably being <>. The woods got darker the further she got in and then eventually out of nowhere she was on the other end of the woods, literally in another open plain.

Boars roamed the grass and wolfs detected her presence as they had a higher aggro range. So Hera lifted her buckler and prepared for an attack. They were weak for being only level one monsters. She easily knocked them away and slashed at them, killing them.

Kat watched as Loner Semi-Newb had killed off a few wolves that had attacked her. It wasn't that impressive since Loner Semi-Newb had a shield and the wolves aimlessly attacked her which made for easy blocks and counters. Kat needed someone with a shield though so she could do finesse in places like open plains where there weren't obstacles she could parkour from. Kat nodded to herself and descended along the treeline across trees, gradually getting lower and father away from Loner Semi-Newb. When Kat had gotten around 30 feet away, she vaulted from the tree she was on, about 15 feet up, and landed in a graceful roll. Kat got to her feet and approached Loner Semi-Newb. "That wasn't half bad, Semi-Newb. Me and you could make a great team. So what do you say? You become my sidekick and we go kick some serious monster butt." Kat said, before eying Loner Semi-Newb critically,as if she was worth something instead of being a complete newb.

Hera, looked at the shield and sword she had. It was in poor condition already and she had just started the game a week ago. Without even thinking twice, she threw the sword and shield away as far away as she could, until she saw the weapon and gear shatter into blue shards. Hera then pulled out a weapon that would make almost any player curious, because many times, a weapon like this is more clumsy than anything. She was now holding a scythe in her hands, using this as her new primary weapon. She then turned to the player that had been stalking her the entire time.

The player asked her if she wanted to team up and if she wanted to be her "sidekick". She looked her up and down yet again and then finally composed herself. "I am willing to establish a partnership with you, but I will not however be your sidekick, it's either we fight as a true team or we fight each other. I am not willing to cooperate any other way." Hera wanted to laugh. The face Koolkat had when Hera spoke to her was just about priceless. She assumed that most of the time players would cower beneath her, but not Hera. No. She was willing to speak her mind and not care what Kat had to think of her. It was now an ultimatum. Was she really willing to risk such stakes over a partnership? Perhaps, but even if, then if Hera did lose in the end, at least her years of being treated cruelly would have finally come to an end.

Edwyn had come back to the First Floor for a visit, it had been a while and he wanted a break from the upper floors. He had spent the day in the city, but decided to go out into the forest at night because that's when the most monsters were out. After all, he might as well get some good training in while he was here. While he was in the forest though, he heard voices. I should probably check it out, someone might be in trouble he thought to himself and sighed. But he decided to take his time getting there and sneak up, just in case. Once he found the players that were making all the noise he watched for a bit then stepped out of the shadows and spoke up, "Hey, leave her alone. You started off the same as she did. Give her a break, for God's sake."

OOC: Ignore that I got rid of my weapon, I guess we can't use scythes :(

Hera refused to side with Kat if it was going to mean being somewhat as much as a "third wheel". A voice told Kat to stop. It was a masculine voice, not a typical voice she'd heard either. She turned her head to the right and saw a male standing there. Why was he covering for her? Hera knew she wasn't anything special, but she didn't say anything. Not even a simple 'Thank you'.
