Eira 0 Posted April 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2017 (edited) Mi pienen kissan jaloin loukseni hiipii. Eira remembered the line and mouthed it to herself, the voice of her father’s singing ringing in her mind. The song was not in English, but the child remembered every word and note of it. She did not recall the language that it had been sung in, but recalled her father telling her that the line in particular, which seemed like the most complicated for him to sing, meant ‘creeping to me on kitten paws’. In context, the song was a confusing one, and though she liked it, Eira never bothered to think about it too much. Now that she was in Aincrad, however, such details of various memories flooded back. She missed her father, and his deep, baritone, musical voice. She missed her entire family, and could only hope to see them again soon. How long would they be in this game. What did it require for the grown-up players to ‘win’? The saying was, if you died in the game, you died in real life. However, the young girl simply could not wrap her mind around how that worked. They were in a video game, and she was only in there because of the strange helmet-like hat that she had seen her sister use when beta-testing. There was nothing in her sister’s room that could harm her, so how could she die in real life if she died in the game? It made no sense, and her mind could only apply childlike fantasies in an attempt to explain the situation. It was evening, and time to settle down. As a result, Eira kept her blue eyes open in hopes of scouting out an open bench, or somewhere good to sleep. She had a blanket in her inventory that she would pull out when she found one. Most, however, were currently occupied. This was unfortunate. Edited April 11, 2017 by Eira
Hakai 0 Posted April 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2017 Hakai stared at the young girl from across the road. Yet another sad case of homelessness in a game where it was easy enough to find an inn. Still, someone as young as her probably couldnt get out of the safe zone and probably didnt have anyone to take care of her. Kayaba's perfect world and he hadnt even figured out how to solve homelessness. She considered slow clapping but how strange that spontaneous gesture would appear to others around her. She returned her attention to the girl. She had been on break for a good long while now, from the frontlines at least. Yet the more she stayed away from the cancerous people that made up its ranks the less she wanted to rejoin them. In fact, the more that she thought about it the more she just wanted most of them to burn. She had made a mistake with Beatbox, and yet another one with Hikoru. It had been a moment of weakness, an urge to be kind that she had never felt before, when she had given him her demonic weapon. Shed just have to get it back from him before she gutted him. She wandered over to the young girl. Maybe if she started some trouble she would start to be more like her old self. At the very least she could test how a child's mind worked. She leaned over and gave the girl a gentle smile. "Hey 'nee-chan. Are you looking for a place to stay the night? I'd be happy to let you share my inn room. Or at the very least let me buy you some dinner."
Eira 0 Posted April 11, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted April 11, 2017 It was as if an angel of light had appeared, as the blonde approached the young girl, who stared up at her with curious, blue eyes. The word, ‘neechan’, was one that the child had never heard before, but surely, hopefully, it was not a bad word. Just an unknown word. The woman leaned down towards her, and the gentle smile reassured the ever so suspicious Eira. Looking for a place to stay, definitely. A bench would typically do, as the first floor rarely became too cold in the warmer season. Plus, she had her blanket. But the idea of staying somewhere that was truly warm and comfortable was enticing to the little girl, who had slowly adjusted to the harshness of sleeping under the stars. Fortunately, mosquitos were not a thing to worry about in Aincrad, but beds were still preferable to benches. Or even a chair or carpeted floor. The potential promise of food was also extremely enticing. “Yes!” she replied in a simple manner, mostly in regards to the first question. She was looking for a place to stay, yes, and accepted the invitation to stay in the inn room with the woman. Yes to each thing the woman had to say, and hopefully she would understand the answer. Eira’s face lit up with a warm and happy smile as she enjoyed the thought. However, she contemplated the offer again, thinking about the pretty woman's words. "Can I stay in the room and have dinner? Or just one?" she attempted to verify, shamelessly asking. If it was one or the other, the food was almost preferable to the room. It was not every day that she received a full meal, after all. @Hakai
Hakai 0 Posted April 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2017 Hakai nodded to the child. "Of course you can have both. It must be tough by yourself, especially being as young as you are. I hope you have some good friends to help take care of you. I know it can be difficult to get started in this game, especially by yourself." She looked off into the distance for a moment, thinking. "Lets grab some food before we talk about anything else. I know some people who can help you get a place to stay and food to eat whenever youd like it, but it would take me a little while to get in touch with them. They dont really like me. Grown up stuff, i imagine you know what i mean though, being an intelligent young woman. You know how men are." She offered a hand to the girl to hold. "I'm Hakai, whats your name?" With the proffered hand accepted or rejected, she started to lead the way to the inn that she usually stayed at when she was on the first floor. Then she revised her plan. There was a nice little bakery run by another young girl that she knew around here. "Do you like cookies?" She questioned, giving the girl a conspiring wink. Aikoh would probably serve them for free with what Hakai had done for her. @Eira
